I just saw that the official gb rom for the evo was leaked with some radios, im currently running cm7 and am curious as if updating my radios to the new ones would be safe and possibly produce better signal?
radios and leak information can be found here(XDA):
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/evo-gingerbread-official-rom-leaked/
I have not tested it but if someone could tell me how to flash a radio i wont mind testing it myself

Search in the thread for.the leaked gingerbread rom. There is a flashsble zip somewhere in there. Just flash it in recovery, and expect to see some different screens while.it flashes, so don't panic and pull battery. I flashed the radio image last night, and haven't noticed any improvement.

So the zip file that includes the entire rom does not include the radio? Do you have any idea on what page the radios are? I was trying to keep up with the thread yesterday but it was moving fast as hell....by the time I got to work this morning, it had well over 100 pages.
Edit: I'm downloading TMartin's rooted rom now to try it, but the mirrors are slow. I don't know what's inside the rom yet.
Have you tried this radio with the 1.90 PRI? I see you still have the 1.77 PRI in your set up.

The radios are not in Tmartins rom. I think it was around page 50 - 54 that Barnacles posted the radio.img, which needs to be flashed in fastboot. then shortly after his post, someone posted the flashable zip. And you wont have any issues being on PRI 1.90, other people posted screens with that setup.

I flashed the new radio last night on CM7. It didn't break anything but I also saw no speed or signal improvement. From what I have read in the post it is just a 3g update but my 3g didn't seem any better at all. I ended up flashing back to the radio I had before, 2.15.00.11.19.

All you have to do is backup your current rom, wipe cache and dalvik, then flash.

Ok i have read through almost every page on here and can't find anything, so if ive missed something please direct me to the right sport. I have an evo currently running "Kings Sense GB TWO POINT THREE V2" i have tried about 30 different roms, and have even gone back to stock. I have hardware version 0003 and hboot 2.10 if that matters, I have my wimax keys, i have updated my profile countless times, i have deleted the xml wimax file and updated it to replace it, i am in a great 4g area, i have updated my radios and am about to put a bullet in my brain. Any help that anyone could give would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
Update: My Wimax radio would not ever update from any zip files, i had to do it through a PC36IMG. Thanks for your help guys.
Make sure WiFi is disabled. Disable 4G from the settings menu Ans not from a widget. Shut down your device. Boot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik and then reboot to your homescreen. Go into the settings menu and select 4G. Also make sure Mobile Data is checked.
posting & replying via the XDA Premium app.
ok ive done that, and i tried it on two different roms and even restored to a backup that i had that i knew that 4g worked on and it still does the same thing
How about Wimax key checker ? Get one and test your key's...
Flash a rooted ODEXED 3.70 stock rom, update your profile from the settings menu and then call Sprint. They may be able to troubleshoot your problem from their end.

i think i may have found the problem, but im not sure ive tried to flash different wimax radios and i checked and it hasn't been changing the radio its still on 25043 would that make it not work?

Shouldn't matter. And how are you checking your wimax radio version? I'm sure if you flashed it, it's updated. You can't see your wimax version from any menus, it requires some adb command to check, if memory serves me correctly. I would do as someone already suggested first, and download the wimax key checker from the market. The dev on the app is JoeyKrim. If you have your RSA keys, and you're still not connecting, then before you troubleshoot any further, I would call Sprint and make sure there's not a 4g outtage in your area. The one time my 4g broke, I spent hours and hours troubleshooting. Then I drove a few miles away, and 4g worked. It was down in my area for about 2 weeks, for whatever reason. If you can't connect in any other 4g areas, and Sprint says there are no problems with 4g in your area, then continue troubleshooting.
make sure if you are on a custom kernel thats not the problem
What am I missing?!?!
Hopefully someone can help me here. My problem is I cannot connect to wimax. So I tried to check to see what wimax version I have so I tried using Android Terminal Emulator as someone else posted. Well I did and it turns out that I am missing something...not sure what though. Here is a screen shot of the Emulator.

Before flashing RLS 5, what rom did you have installed? If it was the stock rom, did it have software version 3.70? If not, you may need to flash the wimax update from Calkulin's thread. I don't have the link handy.

Last rom I flashed was cm7.0.2. I'll try Calkulin's wimax update..hopefully this works. Thanks for the reply.

Sup yall,
First day on synergy rom nightly 6/9, battery not to good so far, but is bout the average for stock kernels. It has the new kernel from the evo 2.3.3 OTA. But my phone wont sleep, I know that cant help, anybody else have this issue?? Or some things to try to fix it. Thanks guys. Ill post some screen grabs but the xda app keeps saying the pics are invalid format. Wuts that?

Did you downgrade your pri/nv to the 1.77 like they suggested? If you haven't that could be why your phone isnt sleeping.
If you're using shootme to take screenshots its set for PNG format, xda app only accept jpeg. Go into settings and change to jpeg.

Yeah and my Pri is still.1.40. Ive never updated my radios or pri. Since the first froyo OTA, been rooted ever since, and I dont mess with radios or nuthin, from wut I see it causes problems more often then not.
Some may say that my phone is "way out of date" but ive never had a problem with any rom really with my combo, so id like to keep it that way, out of all the roms ive had (myn, fresh, cyanogen) this is the first one that has gave me the "wakelock" (is that what its called? ).
I mean this is a nightly so this could be a bug that will be fixed, but im hopin I can fix it, cause this rom is the....SHIZ NIT.... (haha..oops!)

Thats the problem right there man, these newer roms require the latest radios, pri/nv, wimax, and prl. Your phone will never sleep if you dont upgrade those. Once you upgrade everything then just downgrade the pri/nv to 1.77 and you're done.
The very first zip is the all in one you can flash in recovery. You should see a big difference in battery life.

Thanks man, I have also been having issues. I upgraded my pri though, so I will flash this radio.

Be sure to flash both the 1.77 pri and the 1.77 NV. The first zip in that link will overwrite your pri you will need to apply the 1.77 after you flash the combo zip.
Now you tell me.

Its very easy. Grab this zip and put on root of sd card. (This is the complete GB radio combo)
http://www.mediafire.com/?s5aen3yr58trofh
Flash in recovery and let the phone finish it; it will take a min or two. Reboot the phone to make sure you have all the latest updates. Check in settings/software (u should know how to check baseband, pri, prl etc).
Go back to that forum link I posted above and download the 1.77 PRI and 1.77 NV zip. Proceed to recovery to flash them one by one (pri/NV). Reboot and enjoy.
Here's the forum link again where you get both 1.77 zips.

Ok, so this is a installer for clockwork recovery for the 4.0.4 radios and bootloader. This has ONLY been tested coming from 4.0.2. 4.0.3 radios and bootloaders MAY have issues. I don't advise you even consider it. This will work on stock 4.0.x, and even aosp builds.

Just noticed that your screenshot has the radio as I515.10 V.FA02 and this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1481044 has I515.09 V.FA02. Just curious if you know what the difference might be? I was only asking because I thought the radios were pulled from the same OTA file. Thanks.

Try booting into the bootloader and see.
If the OS booted up though, I'm 99% sure everything's all right.
I flashed the 4.03 radios in CWR and did a bootloader upgrade separately in fastboot. So we need to flash the 4.02 radio in CWR and flash the 4.02 bootloader in fastboot before attemepting the 4.04 upgrade - right? Or use fast boot to flash the bootloader and individual radios?
Im at work currently taking a shiit and just downloaded the new radio. I work for verizon and have two repeaters in the store and currently is only showing two bars of reception. Ill report back in a few minutes once the new radio is flashed.

So has anyone tried this on 4.0.3?
I was able to install from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 radio without a problem. It did take about 2 minutes to flash in CWM though. Be patient!
I downgraded from 4.0.3 radio to 4.0.2 and flashed the zip... I got an error message saying:
assert failed: samsung.update_cdma_modem (package_extract_file("radio-cdma.img"))
E: Error in /sdcard/Download/402_to_404_btldr_rdo.zip
(Status 7)

Hopefully this didn't just **** up my phone hahahah....I just checked and one radio is from 4.0.2 and the other is from 4.0.4... What is going on?! Uh oh LOL.
Do you guys see it? I'm running 4.0.2 CDMA radio, and 4.0.4 LTE radio... What. I'm gonna reflash 4.0.2 radios, try again, and re-confirm md5.
Holy crap!
I only have preliminary results, but I am LOVING this update!
I went from -115 to -120 dbm in my room to -95 dbm!
I have a factory refurbished HW 9 phone.
I also noticed a MUCH faster boot time.
Not sure how that was included though.

2. Flash with CWM, then verify your bootloader version is PRIMEKJ10 (or something like PRIMEK)
3. Flash the new radios with CWM
4. Reboot, enjoy!

Both phones were having reception issues before, both on seperate radios.
so i have been reading and reading and reading and mutha efin reading for about a good 2 weeks now and i got the flashing of the roms down and themes they seem pretty easy, but i am still very confused as to which roms are compatible with my phone the way it sits right now. i do not want to go to froyo i love my GB. so here is a pic of my phone settings. if someone could point me in the right direction i really wanna try this theme. if i cant then just what rom to use would be awesome. and also if you could maybe tell me what factors are involved in choosing a rom that would be like teaching me how to fish. thank you in advance.

If you check in Development all the roms are "compatible" with your phone in some way. Understand the difference between BML and MTD and what that means to you and your flashing choices and how to return to stock if needed and the dangers of making a mistake. I am currently using CM7 but have tried CM9 and Clean GB. Those are all MTD and have their own sets of benefits and concerns. Reading in each of them will spell them out but at that point it is simply a matter of trying them out and seeing which you like best.
To use that theme you will need to be on a deodexed ROM. I would recommend the full version of Sleeper or CleanGB 1.12 BML version. I would recommned reading up on MTD before considering changing your partition table and file system:
CleanGB go to second set of links labeled BML version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1483903
Or Sleeper, the second set of links on this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22289108&postcount=287
Assuming you are rooted with CWM 5.027 already. If not Google qbking77's videos on how to root Samsung Epic on EL30. And also look for the included link to a video on how to install CWM 5.0.2.7.
As for how to choose a ROM the firmware versions are listed in the thread titles and usually all the features are listed in the OP or first few posts in the Development thread.
so just so im reading everything right i should have bml right? and clean gb has a version for bml i could just use that instead of go to mtd right? and thank you all for the help. love learning this stuff.

Exactly. CleanGB had a BML version and Sleeper automatically detects what partition you are on and installs accordingly. When you are ready for MTD CleanGB MTD version will convert you.

It is unusual for a theme to do that. You can reflash the ROM to wipe the theme and check then. It is possible a tower is down near you or undergoing maintenance.

Aha...the old corrupted modem trick! 2nd time I fell for that this week...LOL,
So a couple days I was playing around with Titanium Backup Pro, and cleared a bunch of caches and stuff that it said it didn't need. It screwed things up and so I just restored everything and it worked fine again. I didn't realize right away though that my 3g was broken since I have wifi nearly everywhere I go, but it won't activate. I know it's not the towers since my wife's GS3 is still connected just fine.
The only time the 3g will activate is when I go and tell the phone to 'update profile'. It will show the 3g icon for a few seconds, then it will disappear again and everything will say there isn't an internet connection.
Help!
I'm using FreeGS3 v3 if it matters.

Hey aclays,
A couple of quick questions just so I can narrow down how to help you:
What is your current Rom? Your Profile says you're running FreeGS3.
What modem are you on?
Are you on Sprint or Ting? (I saw some stuff about Ting in your post history)
What recovery are you running?
I'd say you can try flashing the latest modem/firmware (see Freez'a Thread for them) to see if that updates it. Or you can try to reflash your current Rom (after clearing cache and dalvik) to see if you can get it back that way.
Worse-comes-to-worst, you can wipe system, data, and the caches and reinstall your Rom. That'd be a last-chance scenario, in my opinion.
I'd say to connect to Wi-Fi somewhere and force hands free activation

Hey aclays,
A couple of quick questions just so I can narrow down how to help you:
What is your current Rom? Your Profile says you're running FreeGS3.
What modem are you on?
Are you on Sprint or Ting? (I saw some stuff about Ting in your post history)
What recovery are you running?
I'd say you can try flashing the latest modem/firmware (see Freez'a Thread for them) to see if that updates it. Or you can try to reflash your current Rom (after clearing cache and dalvik) to see if you can get it back that way.

1. FreeGS3
2. I'm not sure =X I looked for the names of all the possible modems that are installed with FreeGS3 and can't find any of them in the phone info.
3. Sprint
4. CWM 5.5
I'm reflashing it right now on your recommendation, so I'll find out in a few minutes if that worked. Doh, forgot to clear the cache and davlik first though. Might have to reflash it a second time.

Hope that works for you.
The modems are typically not installed with the Rom. If you go into your Settings, then "About Device" you can see which Baseband (modem) you're on. In my friend's screenshot below, you can see his baseband is "MB1." You technically don't have to update your modems, some people have reported that older modems work better in their area. I prefer to have the latest, but that's up for debate.

Looks like I'm using L710VPBLJ7, I've never even thought of updating it to be honest. I might have to give it a shot to see if it improves anything in my area.
I did the force hands free activation bit and it seems to have fixed the problem! Though now I'm going to have to find that guide to remove the system update nag again.
Anyways, thanks folks!

You mean....the one in my sig?
I need to update it though....wherever it tells you to change the version to "MB1", change it to "MD4" instead because that's the latest
