Ive just recieved a MMS and when i try to download it it says "Cannot download message. Check settings for multimedia messages"
I an app called "APN Backup & Restore" which i have used to keep a backup of my APNs but when i restore it still says the same. My internet is fine just my MMS. I have googled the APN settings and entered them manually but still no luck.
Device info
Model: R800i
Firmware: .42
Baseband: .56
Rom: Darkforest RC2
Kernel: dommkernel 2GHz version
Carrier: Orange UK
I get this every so often and find the phone needs to have almost excellent reception to download anything. My only suggestion is to keep trying, not sure of anything else that could help, I just look for better signal.

Does anyone know where the APN file is located? I mean the exact folder structure?
I have looked for it and can not find it. I am looking for it because I can not receive MMS or send MMS - it just acts like it is sending forever or downloading forever.
I have looked EVERYWHERE on these forums for the answer and I must be an idiot - because I can't find any info to help.
Here is what I am currently running....
Android Version: 2.2
Baseband Version: 2.15.00.09.01
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.17-gee557fdhtc-kernelatand18-2 #15
Build Number: Fresh Evo 3.5.0.1 by flipz
Software Number: 3.70.651.1
Browser Version: WebKit 3.1
PRI Version: 1.40_003
PRL Version: 60677
I really like the phone is working with this ROM - and I really don't want to reset it back to the factory settings....
Any info will be greatly appreciated!
try the free program "APN backup and restore"
You can dump your APNs to an xml file, check them out and modify them if necessary, and then reload them back into the phone easily
theres probly something wrong with the rom..or kernel havin the same issue with mikgin but hes fixin it also your pri maybe update it to at least 1.77? thoughts..never used fresh havent seen to many ppl that like it

HTC Evo 4G only receives MMS messages after i first restart it. So every time i get a new MMS i have to restart the phone. I just rooted it and flashed the Energy room. any suggestions, thanks
Well, what ROM are you running and what msg app? Have you taken the simple way out and tried using GO SMS? I'm not a big fan of this app but mostly if the ROMs local msg isn't receiving MMS, this will...

I used GO SMS but its the ROM itself. I checked another website and alot of people were complaining about it. Its the Energy ROM

Ahhh....OK OK....unfortunately I can confirm that I ran Energy as well about a month ago and I too had mms issues then. But that is not a reflection on the current version. Have you tried pulling a msg.apk out of another sense based rom? Try pulling it from Nitrous, I know that mms works on that.

Can't send or receive MMS on Sprint! Help!
I need some help here folks. So I had a lapse in thinking one day and "nearly" acceptance an OTA. I accidently clicked accept and immediately stopped it (shut off my phone etc). Well apparently it downloaded far enough to where the next time I reset my phone it installed it automatically. It didn't even tell me it was installing it just told me my phone had been updated. Now I need help. First here is the info on my phone...
Sprint Evo 4G running Ginger Bread (2.3.5), Kernel - 2.6.35.10-g4b48446. My phone is rooted, but I still have the stock ROM.
So my phone updated the software to the newest version 4.67.651.3. I know at the beginning of this thread there is an alert message about not downloading it (as with any OTA's on a rooted phone), but it did and now I'm here.
So my problem is that now I cannot send or receive MMS. It sits there acting like it's trying to send without ever sending it. Is it possible to revert back to an older software version (assuming this is what broke the MMS in the first place)? Help from any of you would be GREATLY appreciated!

No 3G data on R800at after switching AT&T 2.3.3 to unbranded 2.3.4 R800a a few times.
OK, I went back and forth from 2.3.3 R800at AT&T firmware to 2.3.4 R800a generic North American firmware in order to get the apps I wanted from the stock AT&T FW onto 2.3.4. I had been using 2.3.4 with no real issues for a couple weeks but now I can't get mobile data on without saving the User Data from 2.3.3.
After loading 2.3.4 Generic NA, one of the first few steps asks if you want to download settings for mobile data + WiFi or use data over WiFi-only (if you have no data plan). Normally, I would select "Wipe User Data" in Flashtool and I would tell it to download the settings for mobile data it would obtain the settings from Sony Ericsson during initial setup just fine. I realized after rolling back to 2.3.3 (stock AT&T) and using Titanium Backup Pro to copy some exclusive games from the stock 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 generic NA that it was no longer working. I could no longer get data while on 3G (calls still worked). When attempting to use data by opening a browser or something, I now get a notification error saying that the settings could not be downloaded. Sometimes I would then be asked to try again, but other times it would say to visit sonyericsson.com from a PC to obtain the settings. It appears that they are talking about manually entering APN settings, but I shouldn't and didn't have to do this before and I still don't have to with the AT&T FW! After switching back and forth between the two firmwares to troubleshoot, I got them in 2.3.4 by loading the AT&T 2.3.3 firmware, obtaining the settings, and then loading the 2.3.4 generic NA FW without using the "wipe user data" option.
I still have some very strange oddities. The default sounds for notifications and rings are different than they were before and the Power Control widget that AT&T loaded by default is completely blank when I go back to 2.3.3! I can load a second instance and delete the blank one to fix it, but it is strange.
Now, googling, I see people saying to let the phone online through WiFi when downloading the settings, but that did not work for me. In fact, when you would tell it to DL settings or to retry after failing to, you would see the "H" logo for HSPA data transmission for a few seconds. If you reloaded a page or checked your email at that very moment, the page would load! Of course, it would still fail to download the settings and go right back to being offline.
My main concern is that there is something physically wrong with my phone considering that I have wiped all software and settings and it continues to do this, with and without loading my backups and apps from the other FW. Even though I can get online with the 2.3.3 FW, there are still some other notable oddities that began happening at the same time (default sounds and broken widget).
Hi, I hope there's nothing wrong with your Play. Restoring settings with Titanium Backup to another version causes some problems. When installing other ROMs, I usually re-configure the APNs manually. (All of this working with my Xperia X10 mini pro switching to different custom ROMs several times)
I was wondering if you were able to access 4G (HSPA+ or H+) when you were in generic R800a 2.3.4. I am considering to move forward to the latest update (mainly to take advantage of HD video recording) and your experience would be really informative. Also, I'd appreciate your explaining how to flash 2.3.4. Thanks.
i did not have any data when i flashed r800i 2.3.4 or darkforest rom but i flashed cyanogenmod yesterday and now i have my data again
You mean H or H+?

I was told that it still uses HSPA+ even though it only shows "H" in the status bar. I did a before/after speed test and results were about the same (6mbps) despite one saying H and one saying H+.
Anyway, I did not restore settings with Titanium Backup. Despite it once simply working automatically with 2.3.4, the only way I could get it to work without manually setting the APN settings was by allowing it to flash 2.3.4 without wiping user data after flashing and using AT&T's 2.3.3.
I downloaded the R800a FW and flashed using FlashTool. The instructions and links to both are in the Super-Compilation thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1294129
AT&T versions aren't compatible with the update yet I believe.

Hi Everyone,
My Phone:
Lt15i
Baseband 70
Stock kernel with CWM
Arconium ICS
My Problem:
After going to a custom rom and kernel from a complete stock setup I cannot get a data conection on my phone. All other features work perfectly (Call, sms, wifi etc) just no 3g/2g data connection, or icon in the status bar. the Settings menu indicates it is turned on.
I have exhausted all available options regarding kernel/rom troubleshooting including a complete reinstall on the above rom/kernel. I also experienced this problem with other roms and kernels.
During setup I follow the setup app and download the apn settings for Crazy Johns (my carrier) and they report as being installed.
My question:
If anyone who is using Crazy Johns currently and has it working could please post their apn settings (text or screen shot whatever is easier) so I can compare these to mine and change as necessary.
Any and all suggestions for fixing this are welcome.

Yeah, tried getting it sent to me, entering it in manually, even tried entering various variations of it I had found on the net. Still no connection.
Everything worked perfectly when it was stock, and when i first flashed a new rom onto the phone (arconium 8.2 i think) it worked then too. but every rom since it hasn't.
I'm still quite new to this and my knowledge isnt too deep yet.
Could flashing roms or kernels effect the serial numbers of my phone or something and now my carrier doesn't recognize my phone?
I do still receive calls and sms...
It's got me beat!

Hmmm I think you phone is fine must be just the settings.
What does it say? Any errors? Can you grab a log too see if it says something there. Check my Sig for how to get logs etc.

Well props to you, you were right in suggesting it was settings related. I tried a different sim card from a different carrier and after following the setup procedure I had a 3g data connection. This of course means the problem lies with my sim card/carrier settings and not the rom or kernel.
Hello fellow xda members. Well after searching for a solution for my for nearly a week now i figure i should post the question to see if i can get an answer. I did search around before hand and tried many solutions but to no avail.
Background, I have a sgh-t999 that's apparently unlocked since I've been using a fido sim card in it for several months now. when ever I'm running cm 10.1, I have full network access, texts, mms, 3g data, etc.Note: d2mtr is flashed to my phone and my model number gets changed to sch-r530, baseband: t999vvllh2.
After flashing to cm 10.2 RC1. d2mtr. I get stuck on the metroPcs network with out any way to manually switch network operators because the option in mobile networks is greyed out. Everything seems to work fine in terms of calls but besides being able to receive texts messages i can't send them. The signal bar seems to be empty or greyed out yet it still picks up 3g data. I've vigorously checked my apn settings to no avail. deleted the voice+ apk since I'm not in the US being in Canada and i'm all out of options right now. If i restore back to my previous backup ,everything works fine and i did check to see if I loose my imei number after flash.
I previously tried flashing d2tmo to my device but to no avail, assert errors. It would greatly be appreciated to get a response and thank you in advance for any help.
Edit: It's a sgh-t999v as printed behind the battery. I followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775616 hence the reason why I'm coming from ICS. Looks like I'll have to reflash using ODIN which i was trying to avoid out of fear of bricking but it seems like my only option now.

Might not be the right ROM for your phone. Or it could be buggy. I've messed around with a few and finally found a great one that seems to be working well for me. I have the d2ltetmo. I'm running Liquid Smooth ROM with 4.2.2 and TWRP 2500 recovery. The ROM roots your phone as well. Any questions feel free to ask. Hope I can help!:cyclops:
I wouldn't flash D2MTR Rom to D2TMO. Too many differing things. There's a CM for D2TMO too.
Are you sure that's a t999? The baseband looks like the one for the t999v.. And it also looks like you might be on ICS firmware.. What I suggest you do is check the model number of your phone to be sure what model you have, after that update to 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 via Odin but make sure its the firmware for your model. After this flash your custom recovery, and then try flashing cm10.1 for d2tmo.. If your device bootloops after you Odin, enter recovery and do a factory reset.
Edit: check the model number by removing the battery and it will say at the back of the phone.. And the firmwares to flash in odin are in the development thread

Well after a long process of flashing stock jb then finding a proper method of flashing cwm since i had difficulties with fastboot and went with the dd if-of method using the terminal emulator. I am finally on a stable cm 10.2 rom, d2tmo, where everything seems to be working and intact. Thanks for the advice now i have the long process of restoring my apps and data and what not with titanium backup.
I tried flashing a custom ROM for the first time last night and so far I am really loving it. The only problem is, after flashing the CM11 M7 ROM it wont access any data over the cell network. I did figure out that if using Titanium Backup I restore my stock ROMs 4.3 data only from the Phone/Messaging Storage (SMS/MMS/APN) then reboot the network data does work. However, this causes the SMS to cease functioning. As soon as any app (default messenger, hangouts, 2-3 others I tried from store) tries to open it immediately crashes. Interestingly, it also will not allow me to restore my SMS records using Super Backup at this point. If I go back into Titanium backup then wipe the data for this process then the SMS starts working again, but all the old messages have been cleared, and as soon as I restart the phone the Network data is not working again.
Any ideas on what to do? I am wondering if maybe I need to adjust something in my APN profile, though I have absolutely no idea where I would get the information to do this.
This is what I am working with:
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S3 i747 (AT&T) -- [though currently I am using a TIGO sim card in Guatemala, wonder if this could have anything to do with it? was not a problem prior to switching the ROM though]
ROM: cm-11-20140608-SNAPSHOT-M7-d2lte.zip , the Cyanogenmod CM11 Snapshot lte release from yesterday
Android Version: 4.4.2
Baseband Version: I747UCUEMJB
Kernel Version: 3.4.91-cyanogenmod-g9b9605b8 [email protected] #1
Anyways, only having one or the other of my network data vs sms working is not really an option for me, so need to figure something out.
Thanks!

I apologize in advanced for not answering your question.
Is your issue that you cannot even get a signal with CM installed? I am also having the same issue.
Did your phone get signal/mobile network with the stock ROM? I am unable to find out if mine will work right now because it would take me a few days to download the stock ROM image...
Will be following this thread...
Mike
Have you checked that the APN on your phone is the right one for your carrier? Google search apn tigo guatemala galaxy s3 Many useful results will come up.
Ok here is how this played out. I did just need to reset then re enter the apn info for tigo in Guatemala. I actually managed to pull this info out of my pre flash backup from when I was using the stock Rom, then wipe the data for the process mentioned. This restored sms functionality and I then was able to manually enter the apn info (if anyone needs the Guatemala tigo apn info just post here and I can grab it when I am next at my cpu). I find it interesting that the apn info was automatically present and correct when I was using the stock Rom, but when I flashed cm11 over it was not there.
Just arrived back in the US and popped in my AT&T SIM card, everything worked fine right off the bat with it.
In answer to your question, after flashing cm11 I did have signal, but only for calls and sms. The data component of the network was not recognized.
