This is Matt Smith's TARDIS at the title sequence. Very cool!
Here is how to use:
1. Download the boot animation, attached.
2. Make sure you have Synergy or Darkside X installed as your kernel. If you do not have either of these, I would suggest flashing Darkside X, found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1466283
3. Flash via Clockworkmod Recovery. You do not have to wipe anything

just tried it but I'm unable to get it working. I'm running Android Zombie 3.3 with Darkside kernel rc2. I unzipped the zip file. Synergy too. Samsung uses a proprietary format for boot animations, and synergy and Darkside x make the format unproprietary.

I unzipped the download and then moved the bootanimation.zip to /system/media. The previous bootanimation.zip, I just renamed before putting the doctor who bootanimation.zip. I rebooted the phone. I thought it would have run after the kernel animation would have run.
I opened the bootanimation.zip and I see all the .png there and I opened a few and it is the doctorwho images.
I'm a noob at this but love doctor who. Any ideas/tips on how to proceed?
Thanks.

You can always download a MIUI rom, then open the zip, locate the kernel zip, extract then flash it.

Hi
Does anybody have a CWM flashable Zip for the Nexus4 Boot Logo.
Just flashed a ROM & I have the boring old "Android" on startup.
I'd like to have the glowing Nexus "X" logo back again
Thanks.:good:
I'd just download a ROM with it and extract it. However, you might like this. Don't remember where i found it but it matches the nexus perfectly.
Here's a better idea of what you're looking at.
you mean boot animation
I use the bootanimation provided above and like it. Works on my Galaxy Nexus also.
Here's the link for the original X from the Nexus One. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402764 I actually prefer this over the new X.
Tried flashing this in CWM and nothing changed...

What he said. Unless the person who posted it says its a flashable bootanimation.
To verify, open up the zip file. If it's a bunch of folders named /part0/ /part1/ etc then its not flashable.
Flashable: has a folder to /data/... or /system/media
chances are they're not flashable. but open to check.
Same here,
after I tried to get a custom boot animation it only shows the default "android" logo on boot.
I messed with the premissions in /styem/media/ can I revert that ?
+1 for the idea of a flashable version - specifically one compatible with Cyanogenmod
I have been running nightlies via CyanDelta and would LOVE to have a bootanimation zip that I could plop in the auto-install script to bring back the stock Nexus 'x' boot. Sadly every flashable bootanimation for the original nexus logo I have tried seems to install the files in the wrong location for CM.

store the bootanimation in /data/local/
after flashing a new nightly or whatever, it will keep your bootanimation. only way for it to reset is if you do a factory reset. enjoy.
(worked on my galaxy nexus, not sure if it works on N4 but it should, try it, shouldnt harm you.. pretty positive that its the same on N4)
edit: the bootanimation i linked earlier is a cwm flashable one. to manually do it just extract bootanimation.zip from the zip file downloaded.

Thanks for the tip! Just tried the manual push to /data/local but no joy. Upon boot it was blank, and the nightly flash restored the CM default in any event. Might be a permissions issue - should 644 and be owned by system, correct?

used to be able to do this on my Droid 1 and loved messing with it. It's not part of the kernel so it must be boot loader... do we have any way of tearing that down? I'm assuming we'd have to be unlocked... ha. Would love it if someone more knowledgeable would chime in.... thanks.
Hi guys, I am very new to this community and this is my first post. So this is what happened:
I had my One X for about 4 months now, and I was starting to want something new so I rooted it and unlocked the bootloader everything went just fine. So I realized root isn't the only big thing you can do to tweak your device so I wanted to flash a custom ROM. I wanted to customize it so I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611349 to customize CMOD 10 based on Jelly Bean and flash it to my device. So I finished my custom ROM and wanted to flash it to my device. So I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069904 (post 2 only (of course)).
At first when I tried to flash my custom ROM I didn't make any backup because I had Titanium backup and I thought that it does the same thing as recovery backup (now I know it doesn't) so I don't have the stock ROM on backup. I was disappointed that the device won't boot, it only shows the boot screen "HTC quietly brilliant". And then I saw boot.img I didn't knew what to do with it so I read about it and found out that I need to flash the boot.img before I flash the ROM. So I deleted everything again and done it all over again, but I flashed boot.img that came with the CM 10 first and then flashed the ROM itself. I've done everything correctly and my device still won't boot. It's over 20 minutes and still showing the "HTC quietly brilliant" like before the boot.img.
What should I do and very much thanks for the helpers I don't want to lose my device. :crying:
EDIT: I forgot to mention that this is my first android device.

And when you talked about github.... you mean you built it from source?

I did built it form source. I got in a folder 3 files: 2 folders: system and META-INF 3rd file is boot.img.
I probably don't know what to put in update.zip (what folders) would you tell me?
I customized some colors, battery skin on the status bar and fonts. I also customized build.prop and added adrenaline script so I got another folder named "data".
could you tell me how to pack it all to update.zip? I guess my problem is that.
P.S. I also sign it after packing it to update.zip with auto-signer using java.
THX in advance!

Not sure if you understood correctly.
I meant you should dl the rom from get.cm and then replace the files with the ones you built and modified.

Your bootanimation.zip permission is wrong. It would be -rw-r--r--. then reboot
Was it even flashable ZIP file or was it meant to be copied and renamed? None of the ones I have used were flashable. As the previous person mentioned you need to correct the file permissions.

I'm fully aware that the ones that I have used (and the one I created) are not flashable however I was under the impression that they can be packaged into a flashable ZIP. I have not attempted because I just copy it and set the permissions. As far as the permissions on the OPs screenshot I was agreeing with your assessment that the permissions on the file are incorrect.
