im using a gsm galaxy nexus i previously had asurion insurance on my line... if i start using a galaxy nexus am i covered? lost damaged or stolen? the tmobile rep said i am... but im not too sure? anyone know? thanks
No, because it's imported from Europe. I'm pretty sure ensquared is the only insurance that will cover this phone.

I know this is probably a long shot, but from what I've read Asurion doesn't follow the phone, it follows the SIM. I spoke with a lady from Asurion, but she was no help at all, so I spoke with someone at T-Mobile and he wasn't any help either. They both basically stated that they weren't sure and would need to get back to me about it. That was almost a week ago and I still haven't heard back from either company, great customer service, isn't it?
If the insurance won't cover the phone I don't want to be paying the $7.99/mo for it and not be able to use it if the time comes.
PS: I do assume the answer is no, but it's worth asking I suppose.
Try starting a claim online and see how far it goes. Or call and ask someone at asurion.

the answer is no..i have checked, double checked, tripled checked...
i originally asked a tmo chat rep..he said yes, i didnt believe him so i wanted to double check...i asked another rep and he said no...then i called asurion directly and they said no
asurion is the company that handles most of the major US carriers...being that the galaxy nexus (GSM) is not supported by any of our carriers its easy to see that the answer would be no
ensquared will though...only like $60/year and a $75 deductible
ensquared.com
they cover water damage, loss, theft, drops, pretty much everything
i just sold my SG2 today..gonna call tmobile to cancel my phone insurance now that im using the galaxy nexus
according to their pamphlets they only cover phones sold by tmobile. I have found securranty to be a cheaper but reliable provider of smart phone insurance.
My charging port recently broke on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus so I had to get a new phone sent to me. Sadly I had a small crack in my screen, so i had to get a new phone by paying $99.00 and going through insurance (without warranty). I was just wandering do I need to unroot and relock the bootloader before sendning my phone into Asurion (Verizon's phone insurance company). I dont feel like I need to because they arent replacing via my warranty, but instead through insurance. Thanks in advance to any advice/ answers!!
If you're paying a deductible and getting a replacement, it doesn't matter what you've done to it.
I didn't think so. Thank you for the info!

I have TEP and I want the SGS3 as primary phone and this one as a secondary entertainment device. My plan is to tell the I lost this one and then ask them if I can have the S3 and pay any remaining fees since its like $200, right?

You can try. Asurion my still have E4GT in stock tho. Ask to talk to a supervisor. Kinda dishonest but that's prolly the best direct route to go.

I have sprint insurance nor asurion, but I don't I'm all bad if I'm still gonna pay any remaining fees

Really not a question you should be asking up in here but how deep are you into your plan. You can call and ask for an early upgrade and pay for it. They used to do it, I Know I did it but now sure if they still do it.
Fyi - ET4G are real cheap now on Craigslist so getting another should not be a big deal just try and sell yours and flip it to get a new one either from Craigslist or store. Especially since you already will to put in an additional $200
If you get a S3 you will never use this phone so just sell it with clean esn and buy out to an early upgrade. This phone is going for $250 around here, Austin TX area.

I got the Nexus from the Play Store less than a month ago. Yesterday it got dunked in salt water when I fell into a tide pool. I have the $30/month T-Mobile month to month plan and added the $7 insurance on it.
I haven't called Asurion yet, but I'm seeing from other people on the forums that even though I purchased the insurance, my Gnex still isn't covered?
WTF? Can someone confirm?
Pretty sure they cover it.
If the phone is not available from the carrier, then Asurion will not cover it. The question has already been asked and answered in this forum. Since the GSM GN is not officially supported by any US carrier, they won't cover it.

Not true. Asurion has sent me a couple letters stating that t mobile has recognized that I am not using a carrier phone so t mobile will not warranty it but that asurion still covers it under its insurance policy.

I've heard that Squaretrade has excellent customer service. I considered going with them for the GNex, but I decline insurance altogether. Chose not to go with Ascurion because I wouldn't be able to stand the monthly fee plus the deductible. At least with Squaretrade, you get your premium out of the way with one lump sum.
Look at these folks:
http://www.worthavegroup.com/
Seem to have really good rates and deductibles. Can buy up to 90 days into ownership too.
I Recently purchased a Gnex off of Google play unlocked. Spoke to t-mobile about getting insurance for it and they told me that its covered the same way as any other phone but since Tmobile doesnt sell the Gnex they would give me a phone of "Equal value" if something were to happen.
Has anybody had any experience with this that can tell me what phone im most likely getting if mine breaks?
Thanks in advance
Covered with Asurion btw
