Sense Rom? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Does anyone know of anyone trying to port a sense rom to our device, i have seen that there is a htc rezound ics rom leaked n just wondered if anyone had tried to?

If sense can go to aosp I would believe aosp can go to sense or any other style I think. Just haven't seen it yet personally. Maybe I should scope around the nexus s and see if its been done already. Nor have I seen a HTC run touchwiz, or Samsung run blur but I Have seen themes that mimic each other. Would be nice to have the option though.

Ye i would love the option just like the nexus one days i know it was easier because htc desire was nearly the same spec, but i would love to alpha try it n help a developer get it going. I think it will make alot of people happy to have it aswell

Why get the Nexus if you want Sense? Better off waiting for the Sensation to get ICS and then get that

[Q] HTC Sense on Gingerbread ROM?

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a new custom rom for my phone, just rooted it... all gravy but fancy trying something of the things those genius chefs have been cooking!
I was looking for a Gingerbread rom with the HTC Sense style theme, but can't seem to find one; does one exist? I've had a look through the index and the developmnent forums but can only find Froyo Sense Roms. It's not a huge issue but it would be nice as I quite like the Sense layout and apps n' stuff
Also, any recommendations on roms? I think I'm going to try some of the gingerbead ones regardless of the htc sense(I like the sound of some of the enhancements) but wonder if anyones using something they can whole heartedly recommend, froyo or no?
Yeah, I would be interested in this too...
Not gonna happen, would need a complete re-write of Sense

Indeed. Try different roms and see which you like. Also, if you want different "styles" of sense, install a HD rom but it's still 2.2. Or you can just wait for 2.3 to be released for Desire which shouldn't be that long really.

Ya I've gone for a 2.2 for now, I imagine I'll stick with it for a while until I feel a real 'need' to upgrade to 2.3.
Until HTC releases the 2.3 update for the Desire(s), nothing can be done :/

Yes wait for new sense gingerbread. Or honeycomb rom

To be honest, I much prefer Gingerbread ROMs and have found Ultimate Droid 3.0.0 to be the best so far.
On top of this I use Launcherpro, which contains awesome Sense style widgets for calendar/facebook/bookmarks/contacts etc.
See it here:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/launcherpro/com.fede.launcher
I also use Fancy Widgets with the H7 clock theme as this gives me the Sense style clock on my homescreen as well.
See it here:

I love this setup

I've actually seen a photo or 2.3.1 Sense 'running' as it were so it exists but it's on one of the new HTC handsets. Whether we'll see it on the Desire is another matter
was it the new htc desire 2 ? ? cant wait for desire 2 to be released.. im sure it packages gingerbread with sense and full support for honeycomb !
Honeycomb is for tablets only. There will prob be something similar for smartphones later on, maybe 2.4 or 3.0, who knows. But no, Honeycomb is non existant for phones for now.
HTC desire S
with sense and android 2.3.2 and now??
search on the youtube this sentence:
"HTC Desire S Videopreview da Telefonino.net @ MWC 2011"
I have faith it will come out until mid-year has the rom gingerbread-Sense

2.4 has already been released, it's an update release from Google of 2.3 full of BugFixes. The Desire S will be released running 2.4, as will the HTC Desire when the new sense comes to it. Check out the thread I posted covering HTC's confirmation plans to update the HTC Desire range to 2.4. This includes all models of the HTC Desire released at the moment.
Also Honeycomb will be released for phones, just only phones that have Dual Core Processors, so thats every single HTC device at the moment out of that league. Hope I helped guys
Sort of it...
Okay, Here's what you can get if you son't mind it not being an ACTUAL Sense UI
Sense UI Themes for Launcher Pro
It's not perfect, but a quick google of Sense UI Launcher Pro theme brings up quite a bit...
i'm kinda new to this but i really recommend this oxygen-2.0-RC7
I think our wait will be over soon.
Already sense ginger is on you tube.

Of course it's on YouTube - the Desire S has it out the box! Doesn't mean we'll get it soon, not until a dump is about (and not a test one doing the rounds)

Even with a dump, that new sense looks very demanding and the specs of the Desire S are slightly better than the Desire, still im not upgrading to a Desire S, my contract has almost reached one year, and after that I still have another year to go..

[HELP REQUEST] port of sense 4.0 from HTC Endeavor *UPDATE*

Hi all devs!!! I was only wandering if someone can help with this port...
I will try but i haven't so much skills
I think this won't be so difficoult cause the leaked rom is for a 720p display so nothing needs to be resized
(Yeah if u don't like sense its not my problem so don't reply here saying sense suck --')
I will try to start port process today and post my results so don't delete this thread please
UPDATE: i can't find RUU file so i can't start...if someone have it please share it with me
I'm no dev, but aren't most sense ports failing because the sense sdk is closed source and there are a lot of libs and stuff unavailable for devs?
You can't just port Sense to another platform, it's not just a launcher but an entire framework
Plus this should be in Q&A not Dev
First step. Modify, build and successfully boot a kernel for Sense. Without it, the ROM will never boot. Sense needs kernel patches.
also if the leaked rom is for a 720p display don't signifies that the port is easy\fast.
anyway good luck for that!

I'm all for choices, but this is a BAD choice and would make the Nexus worse. It's seriously not worth porting it over.
Taking Sense to the Nexus One was easy as the Desire is the same phone so there wasn't a lot of work needed

No port is a bad choice, who wouldn't want the option to run sense on the gnex? If I had a gnex that would be my first project.
It couldnt make the device worse, more options are better
who wouldn't want to port sense on gnex?....anyone,seeing the effort on this 3ad!
and i think it's right.sense is good for any phone with a proper associated UI (and IMHO sense it's the best respect others, like tw,motoblur etc)but in a google phone, inwhich proper manufactured UI is absent,i agree with eddyOS,it's a nonsense.can only slowdown the system and eating most of the ram.why go straight on with a porting of a thing despite the absence of which was conceived and designed specifically to streamline the system ...?
Let the guy try! This would be interesting for sure!
sent from my Nexus Prime
nothin says that he shouldn't try...i only express my opinion!
This would be really awesome
Although I agree that it might slow down the system a bit, its amazing to have a lot of choices. Its a developer phone and the more roms, kernels and mods we have the better (although quality is important TOO )
BTW....swamp goblin, you really seem to love porting (just game from Nexus S), your work is fantastic
My hat off to whoever accomplishes this. I think it would be brilliant to see. Like people said, choice is good.
Aren't there any legal issues on this? I'm not too sure HTC would take it well.
that would be awesome... i hope its possible

HTC Sense on Galaxy Nexus

I found that in the Nexus S forum that there is a HTC Sense ROM version launched as a beta. I would love to see it running on our GNex since the hardware is simular it should be possible.
The problem with Sense was that the battery drain was huge. But since GNex and HD2 devs managed to solve this in better kernels it should be possible to make it run like a charm on our GNex
I came from HTC HD2 and we had so much different ROM to flash like: WP7, all andriod version, windows 95, ubuntu, meego and much more... I kinda mis that on the GNex. A lot of HD2 devs are working on GNex so I hope that we have those possibilities also in the near future.

I had a nexus s from what it looked like sense was hard as hell to get running.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
I don't think that will be happening. HTC doesn't use PowerVR or TI OMAP so proprietary stuff like that would be a ***** and it might not be worth the trouble. Also...you bought a nexus phone for the stock Android experience and latest and greatest...WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO KILL IT WITH FIRE?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Kinda beats the idea of having a Nexus if you ask me.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I really don't understand people on here!! If you want Sense, buy a HTC phone!!! People buy nexus's because they cant stand the skinning of manufacturers, and now people are asking for touchwiz and sense ports, which just slow the phone down! WWWHHHYYYY?!?!?!
people also buy the Gnex becuase of its developer support. Most people here love flashing stuff and though I love stock ICS I would love to try out the latest touchwiz or sense as well
One, i didnt bought the phone for plain ics experience but due to the hardware specs.
Two, I hope that the device will get more options in flashing ROMs. Not cuz i like Sense roms but just cuz its possible. And i'm more into plain ics dont get me wrong, also my HD2 had plain ICS without Sense cuz it runs better.
Thirth, I hope that ppl will see smartphones as "normal" computers and see the possibilities of running and developing other OS then Andriod. A lot of people are so short sighted and focus only on the Andriod experience. But there is more capable with the device .. so much more.
Take Ubuntu for example, most of our kernels are based on the ubuntu kernel. Its possible to run plain Ubuntu. The experience would be like a laptop. You can connect it to a screen and add a mouse. Ofcourse you could make a dual boot with the choice of ics and the other system with Haret. Running ICS as native OS and booting Ubuntu from internal storage with Haret.
Dont get me wrong I love the phone as it is and I love the way ICS works and would use it always as daily use. But from developing perspective there are so much more possibilities wich also can give the GNex a lot bigger status as best phone =)
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Btw the only thing not working correct one the Nexus S Sense ROM is wifi and its driver related. Ppl like Cotulla or TyTung have made a custom driver (wifi, gpsa, camera and lots more) so its not impossible .
I truely loved to see how ppl managed to make a custom driver for a camera and how it worked code wise since the standard device drivers are closed source. In my opinion those ppl are truely DEVs like the kernel builders. Crappy apps or game programmers arent true DEVs in my opinion .. i'm a app/game/web programmer my self and dont consider my self to be a true mobile DEV.

Brilliant. There are so many different launchers and really nice widgets on the Market. I just don't understand why somebody would like to kill his phone with Sense or Touchwiz. Latest Sense even looks like Launcher Pro. We do have the after Sense isn't it?
Sense isn't impossible as long as you port Sense, and not the whole damn rom. Biggest issue we saw when we tried a while back was gralloc. That may be less an issue now that there are ICS versions of Sense out there now.

Well,
Being the date on that is in December ...
The poster was incorrect as we made no such announcement. We do have 'sick' stuff in the works, but its not Sense. Our Sense expert gave it a shot and without having ICS HTC kernel source, its unlikely to work any time soon.

I don't know exactly. Erishasnobattery is the one who attempted it. I believe there were gralloc issues. Back then, we had no ICS Sense to work with though, so I don't know, it may be entirely possible now.
Hey...We should get this going!
Really unnecessary bump.
Either way, it's all about choice, people buy this phone for superior development, so people just like options.

Just to clarify, last season's HTC devices get an ICS update in the form of Android 4.0.3/Sense 3.6. This applies to the Sensation (all models), Vivid, Amaze, Incredible 2/S and even the Desire S/HD, along with a couple of others.
You won't see Sense 4.0 on any of these 'older' devices officially. It was the One series' drawcard, and it won't be officially ported backwards. That's what XDA is for
That said, I'm really impressed with performance increases on the Sensation, Vivid and Amaze from the ICS update. Usability of Sense 3.6, especially the Launcher, is greatly improved. You should get a good little boost out of the official ICS when it arrives.

most likely they started working on the older devices later, and by then 4.0.4 was in aosp id guess
given that htc updates on the same os version so frequently, id imagine the evo 3d/sensation/rezound will move up as well
some of the msm7x30 devices on gb at points had 2.3.3, 2.3.4, 2.3.5, and 2.3.6 (dont think any of that chipset ever saw 2.3.7)

[Q] Coming from Desire Z

So checking out the roms here and touchwiz seems to be the most popular kinda like sense is on desire z but I'm wondering whats some of the more popular stable aosp/aokp roms for the S3? I really prefer the pure android experience and i'll customize it. I'm coming from a G2 with andromadus mimicry and its a nice rom anything comparable or just a more standard experience?
I'm not sure you can directly compare whatever was available under sense with what you'll find on the S3...
watch YouTube reviews of certain roms and make a decision that way or take a day to flash and test the most popular ones.
