Hi guys, I helped my friend switch build from yakjuzs to yakju after I found the following info:
So you found yourself with the yakjuwx build. In order to switch, you’ll have to wipe your device so backup any important data. Luckily it isn’t necessary to root your Nexus because it has an unlockable bootloader. You simply need to have fastboot on your PC (which is included in the Android SDK). Using fastboot on your PC you can easily OEM unlock the device and flash the desired images. Be forewarned, OEM Unlock voids your warranty and neither I nor TalkAndroid can say definitively that flashing the yakju build over a previous yakjuwx build will do no harm, however Luxferro was able to make the transition successfully.
All you need to do is grab the factory image from Google.
Assuming you have already OEM unlocked the device simply type
fastboot -w update image-yakju-itl41f.zip
in your console and you should be all set, back on Google’s update track.

Note:
Luxferro said:
I bit the bullet and just flashed the 4.0.1 (ITL41F) factory image. It was easy enough if you have fastboot installed and working, and you phone unlocked.
Just grab the Factory Image yakju-itl41f-factory-192e5c67.tgz from google
http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html
open the file with you zip program (i use 7-zip), pull out the image-yakju-itl41f.zip file. Then all you need to do is
Code:
fastboot -w update image-yakju-itl41f.zip
You don't need to bother with the other files in the package cause you already have latest bootloader, and radio. This will wipe your whole phone, so backup if you need to.

Have you received firmware updates yet from Samsung?
Do you see the latest firmware update (Android 4.0.2) for your build at http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html#yakjuitl41f ?
Do you feel left out because you are on a Samsung build and cannot wait for Samsung to release the firmware update for your build?
Do you envy your Google build Galaxy Nexus friends who now are running Android 4.0.2 which comes with the necessary bug fixes?

Confused on how you tell what build you have in the first place

YES! I was fortunate that my Galaxy Nexus came with the Google Build.
And updated mine to Android 4.0.2 when I came across the following article on the 17 Dec 2011
http://www.androidcentral.com/how-manually-update-your-gsm-galaxy-nexus-android-402-ota
So if you cannot wait for Samsung to take their own sweet time to release the update over the air, and if getting the update as soon as possible matters to you, then YES.. go for it!

Howdy. Quick question: Does this cause you to lose root? I would think so, since the superuser.apk isn't included in the yakju file.
My Gnex is rooted and unlocked, and i don't want to mess it up.

Install Android System Info from the Android Market.
Run it. Click on System. Click on BuildInfos. Look for Product: line to see your build version.
You can find out a lot about your Galaxy Nexus with this app.

What's a good program to back up game saves before I flash this on my phone?

I take it you have to be on a stock rom? Im on aokp but my product comes up as mysid
Nevermind mysid is the cdma/lte version and is updated by google. SCORE!

'Mysid" is the correct build for the LTE GNex, regardless of stock rom or custom.

It doesn't matter which version you have. Also my friend with yakju is still on 4.0.1 because updates are staggered. Not all yakju phones will be updated before yakjuux. And not all yakjuux phones will get slow updates. That said, some yakjuux builds will be updated before some yakju builds.

I'm assuming you on the bell build since your in the GTA (like me). Flash to yakju. I know unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty but idrc. It's a developer device

Doesn't really void warranty. Just means you'll have to relock the phone and send it back in. But be assured there isn't any evidence that you've unlocked it.

Yakju and mysid are both update from Google. Yakju is the name used for GSM version. Mysid is the name used for LTE(Verizon) Version.

OTA Update IMM30B 4.0.4

4.0.4 update: http://www.mediafire.com/?l1wxw3exb9195w7
"Stock LTE ONLY users:
Rename it to update.zip, then you can flash.
Rooted LTE users who have made no filesystem modifications:
Same thing.
Those with CWM, rooted, but no filesystem modifications:
Good luck. I can modify the installer script if there is an issue.
Everyone else. If you flash this as GSM, well...tsk.
One radio is a patch file. I cannot extract it. Also, be aware, there is a bootloader in this. Those always make me worry.
My disclaimer: Don't flash it if you are squeamish or fear bricks."

Flash CWM first using fastboot: Link Here or Link Here (Touch CWM)
Then flash Superuser in CWM to gain root back: Link Here

WARNING: You will lose any system mods if you had them before (Soft buttons, boot animations, etc...)! Since no one has obviously made any 4.0.4 compatible versions of those mods you will have to make do with stock till then.

can anyone figure out the difference between 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 yet? since currently im running cm9, and thats on 4.0.3.. i wonder when google is going to release 4.0.4 into aosp..
Couple of notes here:
You must be on 4.0.2 bootloader, radios, boot partition (kernel), and system or this will failed.
You can use this in both stock and CWM recovery.
You will lose root and will have to reroot afterwords using CWM!

This is now the new stock reboot menu (I kid you not, no mods!):

But not signal strength
I'm a little confused and was wondering if someone could confirm that it's safe for me to flash this. If I restore my nandroid backup of the stock 4.0.2 rom I have, it's ok to flash this? I have not flashed a different bootloader or radios since I originally unlocked and rooted it. Restoring root and CWM I get also. I'm still a tad newbish with the Nexus so I'm sorry if this question may seem dumb.

[CDMA][Radio][Bootloader]4.0.4 IMM76K Radios and Bootloader

I pulled the patched radio.img from my phone after updating from 4.0.2 to 4.0.4IMM76K. This file should work coming from any radio as it includes the full radio.img, not just the radio.img.p that is in the update from google. I do seem to get a 4G signal where I previously only got a 3G signal (ie in my basement). The .zip includes radio.img, radio-cdma.img, and bootloader.img.
It must be flashed through a custom recovery, fastboot will not work for the LTE radio.
It flashed fine on my phone, but I'm not responsible for any problems you may have .
Thanks to SpringRush for posting the google link to the update and krazie1 for the logcats that got the filename and probably helped find said link.

Flash with whatever custom recovery you want. You don't need to wipe anything as far as I know. If you want to, it won't hurt anything other than use up a bit more of your time .

Since the latest liquid rom and kernel probably does not include a radio image or bootloader.img, then I would say you're fine. That's the reason I pulled the patched radio.img and made this thread. It's just the radios and bootloader from the newest update. Generally, custom ROMs do not include radios or bootloaders.
How's the battery looking so far? Lol

Worked for me!
Will we be able to flash okay radios over this if it turns out worse. Also, why do we need the new bootloader? Will this effect anything going forward?
Worked fine over aokp m5 with stock faux kernel which I didn't expect any problems seeing how they aren't included in custom roms...slightly worse than the leaked 4.0.4 radio was getting -89dBm 51asu now getting 93dBm 47asu. Haven't tested much though that's just signal strength not hand off or anything also that was on 4g.

You can flash whatever radios you want as long as they are the full radios and not a .zip containing a radio patch in it. I don't know why the bootloader would affect anything. It's a nexus phone. It's not like we needed some hole to unlock our phones. fastboot oem unlock should always unlock a nexus as far as I know. I just made this .zip based off of other leaked radio threads, and they included the bootloader in 2 out of 3, so I figured 'why not' .

That's a hardware version of the phone and won't change by flashing something...at least from everything I've read. I think there's a pretty big thread about it in the Q&A, but it's pretty old and probably buried.

Hm, for those that have flashed this, I would compare your about screens to reflect the radios shown here. I pulled the radio images out of your zip (both .img files) and tried to flash them in fastboot. The LTE radio (radio.img) failed to write and I believe it's because in the original 4.0.4 update zip it's an img.p file, or a patch to go on top of 4.0.2 radios. So, if I had to guess, your zip is flashing only the CDMA radio and the LTE radio isn't being properly flashed for those running anything but the LTE radio that came with the 4.0.2, if that at all. Just a word of caution.

You would need to know the long string of letters and numbers, and probably change occam to yakju or takju.
My wife's Yakju Galaxy Nexus got the OTA update. Trying to find the info on how to use alogcat to get the info.
Edit: It says it is already downloaded and i need to restart to install. not sure that alogcat is going to help me. Doesn't seem to be a way to cancel it. Going to turn off phone and see if it will work that way.
Lol, turning off the phone will clear the url in the log. Hook it up before updating and search for the URL with catlog.

You need adb installed, then connect the phone and type adb logcat > logcat.txt , it should contain the url somewhere.

Probably just removed AppOps, fixed SecureRandom generator issue and other small things.

My wife's yakju Galaxy Nexus just got an OTA update to JWR66Y. Not sure why but she always seems to be among the first to get them.

I haven't had the WIFI reconnect issue since installing this update. Hopefully it will stay this way. To short time to really tell.
This is the first time yakju get an ota before takju !
Interesting and curious

Nope, also the "first" 4.3 OTA rolled out (and with link posted here) was from yakju..
I got it this morning as well. Running stock (Takju). It was only 1.7Mb it said that it will improve security. Nothing else....

No.
I applied root a few weeks back. No problem since.

Have not messed with anything besides rooting the phone, I had franco kernel but went back to the stock kernel to try the update.
Hello again.
I have found a possible solution.
Flashing all over again, no root, then adb sideloading the OTA.
It works fine.
Probably the SuperSU binary was messing up the patch signature.
Does this mean that even if I wait for the update to come thru my phone automatically it won't happen because I have root?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
only works on odex without missing default apps
