Only 5 Home screens on ICS?

do i miss some thing ? the options to get - 7 and even more will be nice...
There are enough launchers in the market that will let you have as many homescreens as you like.
And with API 14 all of them should have hardware acceleration.

i know, but still its really Disappoint
BTW: hi Friend, long time no see (its you?)
Why is it so disappointing? Android launcher has never had more than 5 screens.
For me personally, i have a hard enough time filling 5 screens with functionality. 7 would be insane haha.
And how can you really need 7? i myself use 2 HS
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
I only use 4 homescreens myself too. Still, once the ICS source is released, I'm sure many launcher replacements based on the ICS launcher will pop up with added features. It happened with Launcher Pro and ADW launcher, after all.
I use 7 screens as well.
If the 3rd party launchers do not work to my liking with ICS, I will learn to adjust.

2 is plenty for me, I like clean an minimal. 2 weather Widgets on one screen and Google search and music widget on the other then my regularly used apps go into folders in adw dock. I hope we can reduce the amount of screens if anything to continue this set up on my nexus when it arrives.

I use 4 homescreens but I'll probably only need 3 with ICS since I'll be using a few folders which I didn't do with gingerbread. I realized that when I was shortly on a miui rom and the folders were really helpful to categorize apps and the miui folders worked and looked like they supposed to, just like in ICS now.
I only use 3 but I can use 5 but the widgets to fill them up aren't as useful as if I just had 3

You won't even need a Google search widget anymore
I use between 3 and 5 homescreens, depending on the ROM (power buttons included/not included in notification area for example) and my current theme. So 5 screens on ICS launcher will be perfect for me, although I'll probably get tired of the launcher and switch to a more customizable eventually
I only use 3 homescreen, enough for me.
Why do you want 7 when you (probably) wont use the 2 on each side much?
5 screens is more than enough, I have been fine with just 3 screens the last couple of years, going to 4th or 5th screen it too far away in my opinion, just easier to use the app drawer at that point.

its a nexus aka pure google.
you people should have known this if you were planning to get the galaxy nexus.
Don't forget u can just drag like apps or whatever u want on top of each other and it automatically creates very functional folders!

I use 3 homescreens, and even with those 3 I don't even use 1/2 of the apps on a regular basis. With the new improved folder UI, I see myself being just fine with 2 or 3 homescreens.
I must admit I actually use 4 1/2 screens on my HD2. 2 of those screens are used by full screen widgets for twitter and facebook, my Homescreen is packed with various calendar, notes widgets and shortcuts adn the other 2 are just filled with junk.
With the new widgets that ICS brings I can condense all my calendar widgets into a single smaller widget and the new folder function will tidy ALOT of my various shortcuts into accessible groups.
5 screens is more than enough unless you have several full screen widgets you wish to use and even then with the pixel density and resizable widget function of ICS im sure you will cope
Just remember that the more widgets you have running on the Homescreen the more it will slow up the scrolling and overall speed, Why do you think apple never introduced widgets into IOS and look how smoothly that flows.
Mark.
by the time you get to the 7th screen it would have been faster to just open the app drawer.

[Q] How to Increase Icon size?

Have a GSM Nexus running AOKP Milestone 4 with Franco Milestone 2.
My Icons are a bit small, definitely smaller then all of the Widgets. What is the best way to increase the ICON size, do I increase the DPI? I just switched over from a HD2 running HyperDroid CM7 and increasing DPI on that platform was affecting market/Play functionality. Or is there another way in Ice Cream to achieve this functionality?
My eyes are getting old so bigger ICONS means more viewing pleasure. Thanks in advance everyone............
Hello again friend just wondering do you want to do this because of vision problems, or just because you want to?

I want to make the change for a few reasons:
1. I am using the Nova launcher and have configured the screen to have 4 rows and 4 columns. There is a lot of free Real Estate between the Icons
2. The Icons are smaller then the Widgets they sit next to.
3. I basically need to use my glasses now for most functions on the phone. But for the larger Widgets its easier to see them then the smaller Icons.
This request/desire is more a function of age then anything else
Increasing the dpi will definitely make the icons larger so thats the easiest thing for you to try. I believe you can do that directly through the AOKP settings or you can use the GNex ToolKit to do it. If it affects the market then just change it back to 320 while using the Market and change it back again after.
Mark.

Question About Apex launcher

Hey guys quick question regarding apex launcher. I like setting my grid sizes usually between 5x5-10x10 but it seems with apex launcher anything over 7x7 causes the icons to get cut in half, regardless of having the icon labels hidden or not. quite disappointing.. is there any fixes to this? i searched here and on google, and didn't find anything other than other people bringing up the issue.
I purchased the Pro version hoping it would maybe fix the issue, but it still happens.
updated OP with my question re-worded in hopes of any info.. Thanks again for any help guys!
You need to change the LCD density so the icons are smaller.

that will change a whole hell of alot more than just my icon size though. i dont want everything else to change size. I just want a dang 10x10 grid, why is it EVERY other launcher doesnt have this issue? there has to be something else.
Yeah, i never mess with density, but it would work.
Another idea is to use desktop visualizer since it scales. All the really artsy home screen people use it. Pain to have to set up each icon, but it should work.

Nice, that app is kinda like a more useful simpletext type app.
does no one else have this issue? I cant be the only one who uses apex who likes to have a 10x10 grid.

You can accomplish this UI with the current apps on the playstore... Desktop Visualizer, Widget Locker, Multi Live Wallpaper and a little Gimp/Photoshop to make the wallpaper and some time... boom you have a very basic UI I think sharp isn't going to go anywhere with this.

I don't get why they put icons inside of squares. Its like putting an icon inside an icon which leaves you with a 3 column app tray. Think about all the scrolling you'd have to do.
The lock screen is cool and I'm sure the app store will have something similar soon enough.

its similar, use multi-live-wallpaper and set crop to "Fit to screen" (this is my version of it) if anyone wants it. I personally do not like this UI but I thought i would take a step toward what some ppl want. Ill make the icons 2mrw if you guys want em. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ffkbkwgxqvm681a/FEELUI.rar Enjoy!

this is more than just a home screen transition.
nothing out there (that i have seen at least) gives you vertical scrolling on the home screen as well as horizontal scrolling.
also, the lock screen is more than just a widgetlocker theme. the clock wont be on the bottom, and it wont scroll, the lock screen wallpaper wont scroll, you cant slide the lock icon up, and get the options, you dont get the nicer looking missed call/mail/sms pop ups.
this goes MUCH further than just some skin.
I just read an article about this from The Verge and i'm intrigued. The developers created Next interface and seem to be onto something. They feel the desktop is an unnecessary step to get to the app tray. Fair point, why have a bunch of apps then hit a button to get to your other apps? In the quest to be pc-like, Android has a desktop and widgets. Great, but I do see the point being made here. Oh, and notifications were redesigned.

A full port would be amazing. It would become my daily for sure, it's so creative and the design and fonts and everything is so beautiful. I love clean looks.
Would love a port...but its not gonna be out for a while...considering Feel UX phones arent even out yet in Japan.

Very impressed with the slick lockscreen, but not so impressed with the basic UI otherwise. Although I couldn't understand what he was saying, adding lines in between rows of icons is not a feature.

How to change the app icon?

Hi,
I saw some nice home screen design of Nexus 7, and it has modified app's icon.
How do you do that using the stock launcher?
Or is it not possible?
I remember that we can use "Desktop Visualizer" for example, but it is not compatible with Nexus 7.
The icon, that I got from the "Metro Station" is enlarged (see attachment, the one in the home screen).
My Nexus 7 is rooted if that can help.
But, I don't want to use other launcher
Thanks.
Unfortunately on the stock launcher you cannot change the icons or use any icon packs. If you want to, it would require the use of a launcher. I use stock but when I feel like changing it up a bit, I use nova prime. Performance is not effected at all. Its worth a try.

Just use any other Launcher and you can change any icon to any .png file you find online or in an icon pack. Or use a good photo editor and make your own.
