There are enough launchers in the market that will let you have as many homescreens as you like.
And with API 14 all of them should have hardware acceleration.

i know, but still its really Disappoint
BTW: hi Friend, long time no see (its you?)
Why is it so disappointing? Android launcher has never had more than 5 screens.
For me personally, i have a hard enough time filling 5 screens with functionality. 7 would be insane haha.
And how can you really need 7? i myself use 2 HS
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
I only use 4 homescreens myself too. Still, once the ICS source is released, I'm sure many launcher replacements based on the ICS launcher will pop up with added features. It happened with Launcher Pro and ADW launcher, after all.
I use 7 screens as well.
If the 3rd party launchers do not work to my liking with ICS, I will learn to adjust.

2 is plenty for me, I like clean an minimal. 2 weather Widgets on one screen and Google search and music widget on the other then my regularly used apps go into folders in adw dock. I hope we can reduce the amount of screens if anything to continue this set up on my nexus when it arrives.
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
I use 4 homescreens but I'll probably only need 3 with ICS since I'll be using a few folders which I didn't do with gingerbread. I realized that when I was shortly on a miui rom and the folders were really helpful to categorize apps and the miui folders worked and looked like they supposed to, just like in ICS now.
I only use 3 but I can use 5 but the widgets to fill them up aren't as useful as if I just had 3

You won't even need a Google search widget anymore
I use between 3 and 5 homescreens, depending on the ROM (power buttons included/not included in notification area for example) and my current theme. So 5 screens on ICS launcher will be perfect for me, although I'll probably get tired of the launcher and switch to a more customizable eventually
I only use 3 homescreen, enough for me.
Why do you want 7 when you (probably) wont use the 2 on each side much?
5 screens is more than enough, I have been fine with just 3 screens the last couple of years, going to 4th or 5th screen it too far away in my opinion, just easier to use the app drawer at that point.

I use 3 homescreens, and even with those 3 I don't even use 1/2 of the apps on a regular basis. With the new improved folder UI, I see myself being just fine with 2 or 3 homescreens.
I must admit I actually use 4 1/2 screens on my HD2. 2 of those screens are used by full screen widgets for twitter and facebook, my Homescreen is packed with various calendar, notes widgets and shortcuts adn the other 2 are just filled with junk.
With the new widgets that ICS brings I can condense all my calendar widgets into a single smaller widget and the new folder function will tidy ALOT of my various shortcuts into accessible groups.
5 screens is more than enough unless you have several full screen widgets you wish to use and even then with the pixel density and resizable widget function of ICS im sure you will cope
Just remember that the more widgets you have running on the Homescreen the more it will slow up the scrolling and overall speed, Why do you think apple never introduced widgets into IOS and look how smoothly that flows.
Mark.
by the time you get to the 7th screen it would have been faster to just open the app drawer.

I feel your pain, I had sense withdrawls when I first switched, then they went away but lately they have been coming again. With all the issues I've had with sprint and the lack of support from samsung, I think I'm going back to htc soon.
Anyways, enough of my rant, the closest I have found is the "android pro widgets", and it's free! It comes as a pack with a friendstream style widget, bookmark, calendar and even people widgets.
I really don't get why touchwiz comes with 7 screens and practically no widgets. HTC makes the only phone I have ever been able to create a nice layout using all screens and not have wasted space.
I miss feeds and updates widget that was on the first epic. Don't know why it's gone on the S2. If it's bcuz of social hub they could at least had added a widget for it!

If you're looking for 3rd party (truly) scrollable widgets for spb shell 3d you won't find any. The reason APW uses a scroll button is the lack of scrollable widget support in your used launcher.
I use APW on my view tablet with and it is awesome. Better than sense for sure. If you really want friendstream, switch to launcherpro plus instead of touchwiz. LPP is smooth as hell and the widgets are awesome.

One thing I miss about Sense (don't get me wrong, I've said good riddance!) is that you can save various versions of your entire homescreens setup/ themes down to the wallpapers, placement of icons, and any mods and widgets that came with it and very quickly switch between them depending on your mood or usage.
I love my current theming and it took a long time to put it together, but I'd like to create something new and be able to quickly go back to my old when I like without all of the setup that it took the first time.

Original AOSP ICS can't do it. Plain and simple.
You can use 3rd party launchers to do it. One such is ADW.Launcher EX (Free version can't).

You could also try the Nova launcher. You can backup and restore homescreen icons and Widgets.
Not meant to be used as themes so it isn't as elegant as Sense, but works.

Had my Nexus for a few weeks now and love it. On my phone I use Nova launcher since the AOSP launcher doesn't allow for more than 5 screens by default. However the nexus allows up to 7. So what launcher are you using and why? Customization? Lack of options? Layout preferences? Do you see any lag from stock launcher versus app launcher? Let's hear it!

Just watched a video on iLauncher. Pretty slick launcher. Too bad I don't like clutter but it would be fun screwing with all the iHeads.
I use Apex on my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7. I run my N7 in tablet mode and I like how Apex works. It is very simple and elegant. On my N7 I up the grid to 5x8 or more. This allows more icon and widget placements on the screen at once. Apex and Nova are pretty similar with each having their own strengths and weaknesses.
Nova Launcher Prime on my N7 &and my Galaxy Nexus.
Depuis ma Nexus 7.
Defo Apex Launcher 1.3 beta
Based on JB source so you get all the new JB stuff (butter, auto moving icons, auto resizing widgets) plus all the apex customization.
Not yet 100% stable, but probs like 95%, hardly ever crashes and even when it does it just starts up again in a few seconds..

+1 for Nova Launcher
I've been playing with Apex again and things I just can't seem to tweak that I like in GO:
1. Dock size (too tall). Screen icon grid has a row along bottom "under" the dock. Can accidentally "lose" an app down there. Puts first row of shortcuts much higher.
2. No settings button (lower right), you have to have a separate screen button.
3. No font options (that I could find)
4. No auto close/kill apps in app drawer
5. Not nearly the number of transition options
6. Can't seem to find the "unread" count mentioned in their description (for Gmail or K9), GO works great.
After creating one screen as "identical" as possible, I really see nothing any smoother in Apex. I find you can just do more with GO and make it look better (which is all in the eye of the beholder).
So far it seems apex and stock are the winners....going to try apex and see if it is as fluid as stock. Any screen lag, though minimal, ruins tablet usage (not as big a deal on a phone since screen is smaller).
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app

One more vote for Apex, didn't notice any lag, crashed maybe 3-4 times in over a month. One feature that hasn't been mentioned yet, but I consider very important: HIding apps from the drawer is available in the free version, wouldn't want to use a launcher without that.
I run Apex on all my devices.
There's really not a lot in it between Nova and Apex. Go just feels bloated and it's always trying to sell you other Go apps (I'd only use it to get the LCARS theme ) Lightning Launcher is an interesting idea but just a bit too different to be comfortable.

Nova on all my devices
viewsonic g-tab running jelly bean
transformer prime running jelly bean
evo lte running viper rom
and the nexus7 running stock with tablet ui.
It always seems to be smoother then apex for me. And I typically only like to use 3 screens. Thats the main reason, and the second is that it looks stock just provides all the added functionality.
What's going on guys? Seeing as to how this phone is super fast and snappy, I thought I'd create the first "Themes and Apps" thread for the Razr M
Almost as soon as I got the phone, I downloaded and installed Go Launcher, Go sms, go calendar, go task, go note, and go switch because thats what I'm used to and those apps/widgets kick ass...
but I know that the "circles widget" is supposedly really cool and the stock launcher wasn't too bad...so I was wondering, what launchers are you guys having success/fun with? Go launcher runs super fast with all the animations and whatnot, so I can definitely imagine the other launchers probably run great too

A lot of people are either running with apex or nova these days. IMO they're pretty similar except the fact that apex has gestures included for free (which is one of the main reasons people use it) while as nova does not have gestures included. IMO I thought Nova was a little snappier but that's just one guys opinion. I recently switched back to the stock launcher because I missed the circles widget. Plus I might upgrade to jellybean soon but I'm waiting because there was a couple articles online that said the official version might be released this week! Prolly not... but better to have hope than none at all lol.

Hi,
I've just gone though the ROMS-CM 10 and Eclipse, but found that CM 10 has really bad speaker problems for incoming calls, which I could not, nor others users could not, work around. Although its the most interesting ROM and quite smooth, and allows for themes from Market. The Eclipse is very smooth and I think built better, but frankly boring. Neither of these allow for the Moto 3 rings, which I noticed nearly everyone in this string has missed or gone back to. Also, I'd hoped to be able to allow for the larger screen in a ROM, where the soft device tools at the bottom are eliminated (using changes in Build.Prop and the app: "Button Savior" as replacement-which is a fabulous app), and while CM 10 allows for their elimination, except for "menu" still the black area remains. Eclipse doesn't allow for this at all. Making the changes in Build.Prop works in CM 10 re: the screen but the speaker issue turned me away after awhile along with losing all notification alerts and signal strength meter. So back to stock moto and found that Nova launcher, with root, allows for, what seems, at least a %60 transparency on the bottom of the screen as well as the elimination of the top notification bar, but the alerts occur and incoming emails can be seen in the Lock screen-works well. So, I'm now back to stock w Nova, although the Moto 3 ring app cannot work on Nova.
Using Action Launcher. I love it.

Stock most of the time but occasionally Nova prime. If it weren't for the ugly Motorola icons I could probably live with the stock launcher all the time. One more clock widget free is certainly close enough to the circle widget to live with (except the text messages not showing up in it) on Nova and I enjoy the options of Nova but the stock launcher performs as good as any and is pretty close to stock android save the left most quick settings I could take or leave.

I have used it. It is actually quite smooth and snappy but lacking very heavily in the features and customization department which isn't really a big deal to me because I am a basic user when it comes to launcher lol either way, it us a nice launcher for the BASIC user. If you are into customization and other things then definitely look the other way or utilize the 15 minute return policy.

Been using it since 3/8, I'm a backer and they gave us access to the early beta. At first it was nice and now the release seems slooow for some reason. It's good but not great. I wouldn't suggest paying for it now and look elsewhere.

It looks nice, very smooth... but it's still like beta on phones I had several force closes... You can't use wallpapers from your gallery, the widgets of the launcher itself are very limited.
The concept of the launcher is great! But the main problem that I have had with it is that it eats a lot of battery ( I guess it's because of the weather widget/GPS usage ). The launcher otherwise has some pretty nice features, such as seperate desktops and reminders to change them when you arrive at a particular point/time.
Great concept. But still needs some improvement, here and there.

Uh....yes you can . Just go into your gallery, select your wallpaper and "share" it with chameleon. Then go back to the browser and the wallpaper should be listed.
I tried it, but wasn't feeling it for the phone. Just didn't seem like there was enough screen space to make good use of the widgets. I didn't try it on my N7, but I'm sure it would look better on that. Also too, the weather was wrong and wouldn't update to the correct town I'm in. HD widgets has no problem with that.
