hi, I'll been looking through the forum for hours and was unable to really understand how to execute my issues. Therefore i have to create this threat to asking for help out of no choice ( I rooted my phone 2 month ago using zergrush method and recently I wanted to upgrade my busybox and I uninstall it before reinstall a newer version, but when I am uninstalling busybox, It stopped half way and say there's some program that stop it from uninstall fully, and then my root access couldn be granted to my busybox anymore and it couldn be install back to my xperia play again. so do my Titanium backup couldn get the root access from SU. but others root access software remain ok. I reformatted my SD card and phone hoping to get rid of the error but my system apps(screen locker, silence mode) is GONE! and the root remain in my phone but my preinstalled data gone. I decided to do a flash to reset everything but Im scared and unsure. any pros please do advise whjat should I be doing on this issues? thanks in advance.
These are the steps I took 10 times so far:
1.Do a clean flash of 2.3.2
2.Root your phone with Gingerbreak
3.OTA to 2.3.4
All Fixed!
4.Restore all your apps with titanium(if you didnt delete backups)
5.Install CWM for locked bootloaders
6.Do a Nand Backup if your phone is working correctly and save it to your PC
BTW just download busybox installer from the market and you dont have to uninstall it before update, just launch the app!

Or you could flash the proper Cwm for unlocked bootloader if it is unlocked. Don't think you need to be unlocked to flash official roms

Hi all,
Im an experienced WM developer and switching to Android as a user,
I Got I9003 and working very fine with me, my device is Arabic enabled,
I have flashed my mobile more than 10 times( using I9003JPKE1_OJPKC2_JXKA4 and Odin) because of trying to get Vanilla Unlock and the nice theme here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112991&page=8
my Questions are:
1.what is the best backup software that restore everything and settings by itself(astro Sux)
2.how to get the ClockWorkMod for my device instead of the stupid glass lock, I followed the instructions
and my device stuck on the samsung screen and keep restarting(what should I do in this case? i tried everything just flashing works and :S)
3. what to do exactly to get theme Ultimate-Bule-tripin in my version?
4. what else i should know
my device info:
2.2.1
kernel [email protected] #1
build: FROYO.JPKE1
Baseband:I9003JXKA4
thanks all in advance.
1. Titanium Backup
Others i dont know If CF-Root doesnt work, no idea (=
thanks man, will the free version do it for me or must be pro?
The Titanium free version hasn't mega-useful Batch operations. So if you have many apps to backup, it'll be incredible long story to backup them one-by-one on free version. So, get Full version, or try MyBackup Pro app, or use a nandroid backup using ClockWorkMod. Btw, CWM isn't a replacement for lockscreen, it's recovery mode mod allowing to do some useful operations (such as backup, wipe caches e.g. etc.)
Or you can use Google and get the full version, i'm not sure if i can give you any link, so i wont, but if you know how to use google you can find it without a problem
Hint: mobilism
#2 question...download ROM manager and select flash clockwork recovery, then it should give you an option to choose your device. Download CWMod for your phone. You should now have latest clockwork.

my Questions are:
1.what is the best backup software that restore everything and settings by itself(astro Sux).
Ans: I think Titanium Backup will do the work most. Recommend that only restore APK without data as you may face force close in some apps. Beware that it does not backup APN setting. Please use APN Back&Restore in case APN is total wipe out. U can use CWM backup through recovery mode and restore. Beware sometime CWM can get corrupted and data restore will have some force close after reboot
2.how to get the ClockWorkMod for my device instead of the stupid glass lock, I followed the instructions
and my device stuck on the samsung screen and keep restarting(what should I do in this case? i tried everything just flashing works and :S)
Ans: Glass lock has nothing to do with CWM. It is the laucher bug issue. Sometime is best to install 2 or more laucher in your rom. Just flash another laucher through ODIN will work.
3. what to do exactly to get theme Ultimate-Bule-tripin in my version?
Ans: Feedback the bug you are having to the theme developer. They should know how to fix it. Is thier duty to provide solution.
4. what else i should know
Ans: You may find that not all products suite you and not all product developed is perfect. Keep flashing for the right one, learn from mistake, pick-up the error and google your problem for solution. Standby your spare phone in case your phone is totally knock down and cannot be restart.
cheer
As a very good FREE backup tool I'm using My Backup Root (from the market). You need to have your phone rooted but it works very nice.
Thanks a lot guys, you helped me well, I mentioned the CWM because to install the update.zip which requires CWM to install because of the signature, I flashed the CWM several times with different versions but same results on startup I really like the Ultimate-Bule-tripin with the vanilla lock and i'll sell the phone if i couldnt get it

I have read the thread,
1) Did you meet the requirement??
Requirements:
-XXKB3 FW
-Deodexed framework is mandatory
2) Have you try install zip from sd card with CWM recovery? CWM provide install zip from sd card, you can explore where have you save the file and execute it. You does not need to rename the file to update.zip.
the problem is i cant install the CWM to my device, every time i install it via odin the device does not start and then i have to flash it, how can i find a version compatible with my device firmware ver?
my device info are :2.2.1
kernel [email protected] #1
build: FROYO.JPKE1
Baseband:I9003JXKA4
so which FW i am????
and i cant see any KB3( btw pleaaaaase tell me which section must have this code????)
Please provide the link to flash CWM for your I9003. I need to look at it.
Update: CWM only work for I9000, there are developer trying to get CWM working on the I9003 device.
I guess whithin 2-3 week time, CWM should be available for your device.

here it is:

thanks in forward, your help appreciated
can u please tell me which FW i have? and which section is supposed to have KB3(KBX)????
ps:my device must have Arabic lang.
You are having the latest ASIAN Froyo Firmware. Your device should be compatible.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004647.
CWM does not work for your device for now. To solve your problem, try to download Root Explorer Pro version from market (Need to buy). Then you can copy the downloaded theme file into your system.
By the way, i'm from SGS I9000 device. Not from I9003. There might be some different to replace file directory.
Good Luck.
Thank Button, please.
can u please just give me the brief steps to install the theme using the root explorer?
does it need more than rooted device or must be deodexed??
btw i always thank but now it gives me
Sorry, you are limited to five thanks per day
Thanks man, i got it done, i have deodexed my I9003 from this Thread
and then managed to copy the vanilla lock apks via ADB shell, now i can use my Android
Hi, I recently bought my Xperia Play already rooted (and retested with OneClick) and has CWM already installed with DoomKernel v03 and MIUIv4 2.7.27 ported by Sechko. The problem i have with it is that SuperUser is denying me access to things that require root such as X-Parts and Titanium Backup. I've tried clearing cache and data in SuperUser via. Manage Apps and even disabling it. Also turned on/off Root permission and turning off Manage App permission but none of this helped
I'm not sure if it's the FW+Kernel+Rom problem or something but i'm looking at trying to use a new FW, Kernel and Rom in this phone now but not sure how. I thought i almost bricked my phone after trying to restore some previous data that was left on the phone (got stuck on the boot loop):silly: Anyway, i'm looking for a good FW+Kernel+Rom that's good for emulating games and i'm considering:
TrueAncestor+DoomKernel v14,
JokaWild v3 + Doomkernel v13 or v14,
Gin2JelyBean v1.8.1+DoomKernel v14,
A normal 2.3.2 FW (and deleting bloatware somehow)
In order to do this, I have to do the following: in CWM clear factory settings (anything else?) first, then flash a FW directly in the phone on CWM (leave it zipped in the root of the SD card), reboot, then install Rom via 'install Zip from SD Card', reboot, and then install Kernel via CWM again (to replace the current one) and finally, root it with OneClick.
Advice please? I'm new to using an Android phone so please keep things simple and easy to understand Thanks

Alright, finally managed to flash 2.3.4, doomkernel v14 and JokaWild v3, superuser is working like it's supposed to now. But oddly, i can't install some apps...says not enough space? i'm using a 16gb card though lol...
Hey everyone! I got my P6 only yesterday and I am really pleased with it. It works like a charm and I can hardly find any reason to root it except for the most important of all to use CWM and Titanium Backup in order to import all my apps to it.
Before I root it I wanted to know how can I save the initial state of the phone WITH the original recovery, in case I ever need to return the phone for warranty issues. I know after rooting I can install CWM and backup but this doesn't backup the original restore and keeps CWM. I am asking before hand because I never managed to do it on my ZTE Skate after I rooted it. Unless of course it's very easy to do it after rooting (which wasn't the case with the Skate) and i don't need to worry about it.
LOL Only 2 things you find in favor, how about Greenify, bloatware, editing build.prop, FolderMount, etc ? Nevermind, yes you can save the initial state.

If u whant just root it u can root with metod what work on your device and if u whant to lose root just flash any avilable update from local update, u wil not lose any data just root and u will be back on stock recovery to.
But if u whant to try out any custom rom
Install TWRP
Then flash ROM what u whant
In XDA i can find stock P6 recovery and flash it from TWRP and then install any avilable update from stock recovery.

I rooted with the 3rd option and everything went smooth! Now I want to add the TWRP and I had a question that I can't post yet in the other forums as I am under 10 posts.
I tried using original recovery but I got error message.
In order to install TWRP I must be on 118CN which I have downloaded. How do I install 118CN before I proceed with installing TWRP?
After much trouble I managed to install CWM and took backup first of my current rom. Than I went to install the 118.zip but I got an error message (did factory reset first). I don't know what else to try unless some one who has done it tells me what is the way
Great! I found out in a totally different section of the forum the following:
HOW DO I...?
Get stock ROM:
Make sure you have stock Recovery not TWRP.
Place your stock version on your SDCard in 'dload' folder, make sure it's named UPDATE.APP
Turn off your device
Press and hold Volume - and +
Press Power but still hold Volume - and +
It will now install stock, and also reboot.
I try this and I get message that the phone is secureboot phone.
This phone is LOCK State.
Nevermind that message.

To get back to your question: You don't need root for a good backup solution. You can use Helium backup for a complete backup of al your apps. I am rooted but I still prefer Helium above titanium backup.
-edit-
Didn't read all the replies. This is irrelevant now. :S
Yes I know about Helium but I prefer Titanium Backup.
As for my problem last night I found the fix and it was totally crazy!
I couldn't update to B125 (stock) with stock recovery with the same error messages like with CN118.
I tried one last thing before I called it a night and it worked! I copied the Dload folder with the update in both the internal storage and the SD card because as long as it was in the SD card you couldn't update. That is a crazy bug because even in the official Huawei guide it mentions copying the update in the SD. I finally solved this and now I can play around with other roms.
I can verify that when I tried to update from B125 to KitKat beta I did not have to copy the dload folder to Internal storage, so this could be a bug affiliated only to B606 I had I guess.
I had my Nexus 7 (currently on stock 4.4) rooted originally. It was working fine. I then went to XDA, downloaded a rooted version of the stock 4.4 ROM. It seemed to work fine. Then, somewhere between a reboot, root decided to stop working entirely. Yes, I have tried repeatedly to flash the superuser.zip file. Literally nothing happens. It says it worked in recovery, but when I reboot the tablet, the Superuser app is nowhere to be found, and none of my rooted apps work. I also tried reflashing an entire rooted ROM, but any time I flash any ROM, it gives me an error in recovery and I can't do it (using TWRP, btw). I am tempted to just wipe the thing clean but I have some apps that I can't really back up the data with (you guessed it) without root.
PLEASE, I need help.

Do you have super user in your settings? If not try downloading it from the play store. Also on some roms root needs to be enabled under developer options.

It's not in settings or dev settings; this is a stock ROM that was (supposedly) just pre-rooted. I've tried downloading from the Play Store, but it doesn't work. The device still acts like it hasn't been rooted.
Maybe you should give SuperSU a try...

Yes, but not from the app store. You have to flash the zip-file from the SuperSU-website.
I think you need to start over...
Well there are a few things you can do....
I think first thing you should try is the WuGFresh Nexus Root Toolkit.
You can download that program which needs to be run on a Windows computer here -> http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/
That program is such an amazing piece of software it does everything for you!
First start off with getting the proper drivers installed onto your Windows computer so that you can communicate with your Nexus 7 tablet. The Nexus Root Toolkit will show you how to install the drivers correctly, just follow the steps.
After you have the drivers installed you should unlock the bootloader, which can be done again from the toolkit.
After you unlock your bootloader you can now root your toolkit. When you are going to root your tablet you should install an advanced custom recovery manager. Hands down the best is TWRP recovery which can be installed via the rootkit. Under the root button is a box that says install custom recovery, just tick that box and hit the root button and the Nexus Root Toolkit will do everything for you.
If that works then you can install Titanium Backup and do a backup of your apps that you don't want to loose.
Second option:
I saw in your post that you said that you tried to boot into recovery and flash the super.zip. Are you using the SuperSu.zip? If you are able to boot into recovery and flash zips that means you already have a custom recovery manager so what you can do is do a back up of your data partition. This will save all of your apps and your progress/data on the apps so if you reformat your tablet you can always restore that data partition to bring back your apps + data.
If you can make a backup your data partition then I would personally recommend that you reformat your tablet. I would delete everything and reinstall the stock Nexus 7 ROM and then I would root the tablet with the Nexus Root Toolkit and go from there.
Here is a good link to show you how to reformat and install the stock Nexus ROM from scratch...
Link -> http://blog.laptopmag.com/how-to-hard-reset-a-bricked-nexus-7-with-your-pc
I personally have used that link and its step by step guide to reset my Nexus 7 so i can say that it will work for you 100% just as long as you follow the steps correctly.
Next time don't be afraid to root your tablet yourself. I know that it can be intimidating...but there are so many documentations and videos on Youtube.com to help you root your Nexus 7 tablet, and you can always ask questions here on XDA.
I hope this has been helpful for you....
If you have anymore questions please let me know....

Hi. I'm having issues with towelroot and link2sd.
I have a C1905 Xperia M with a locked bootloader.
When I'm on 4.1.2 firmware, I root with cydia impactor, install supersu, busybox, patch with rootfix and THEN rootremountfix ---> I can succesfully apply the remount scripts, and my SD card can mount with the 2nd partition formatted to Fat32 (haven't tried ext).
But I'd also like to use 4.3 firmware... So:
When I try this on 4.3: I apply towelroot (impactor doesn't work, signature bug not found), install superSU, busybox, patch with rootremountfix ---> I ALWAYS get a bootloop when trying to apply the remount scripts in link2sd. If I try to use "rootfixer" at any stage, my phone gets unrooted and I'd have to "make it rain" again.
What can I do? Any help is appreciated. I should also note I'm not too android savvy. Kinda just getting into this stuff (my only previous experience was installing Cyanogenmod on my Galaxy mini a couple years ago).
Thanks!
If you haven't tried this one yet, then go ahead. But if it still doesn't work, then use this instead. It roots it right away. Make sure to use CVE-2014-3153.
