Voodoo Control Plus - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

A friend recently got this device. I told him about how amazing this app was. Come to find out the Epic Touch is not supported (probably known by you).
Anyone know of a similar app to Voodoo Control Plus?
Is there a "fix" for this?
You guys ask @supercurio by twitter/email if he knows how to fix it.
I heard someone say it had something to do with the yamaha DAC...

lg ally

Am trying to hook up the wiimote app and it keeps saying my bluetooth is not on when it is and I want to know wat going on......and if it is compatible with my phone.?
Its probably the phone... not to be a jerk... But the Ally sucks more than any Droid I have seen... Sucks more than the Moto Rival if anyone gets me there... I sell Verizon and I wouldn't pay someone to carry that Phone.

Whats so wrong with the Ally? I've had mine for over a month now and I love it. The keyboard is far and above the best of any phone running Android (at least for VZW) and compared to the other two entry level handsets (Devour and Eris) its a wonderful piece of hardware. There is a pretty active dev community for it over at android forums and if you really need more performance its been stably overclocked now, let alone what you'll get just from the optimizations in some custom roms.
Short of 3D gaming theres not a thing I haven't been able to do with it.

I agree as well... I have my Ally running Velocity 1.0 and I'll tell ya it makes all the difference... very fast and stable, with the best slide-out keyboard ever put on a phone. Period. It's D-Pad is perfect for emulators.
I doubt it's the actual phone, but it's probably something technical, probably some sort of bug. I'd say contact the developers on the issue, or maybe try reinstalling the app. Ya never know.
I'm having soooo many problems trying to root this. I haven't seen a single app or download that can do it. I realize once this phone is rooted it is much better, but I can't for the life of me figure it out. Do you remember the app/link/download you used to root yours?
Take a look on Android Forums under their LG Ally section. Literally tons of information about modding the Ally.

This is old news. I don't think anyone was ever able to get it to work. There was also issues with the cable itself.
yeah found that after too. another abandoned promise from samsung.
was going to be available after software update. cable was even posted on their site coming soon. now removed. now samsung doubts they will do 2.3, HIGHLY doubt they would ever update the HDMI capabilities.
yeah in a couple months they will just replace us with the infuse. which will be like samsungs answer to the evo but being samsung the cameras will be bettter among the advantages we already have.
then the infuse will be replaced by something dual core, it is possible that the infuse is dual core and they are withholding that info untill its release as to not devalue the captivate too much in advance. but they may also be planning another phone release shortly after. a samsung engineer hinted to me that there will be a dual core phone in 2011.
does anyone know if we can get video over usb via samsungs dock? apple does it so why not samsung?
it is disapointing but i guess composite video will have to do till i get an infuse. well there was someone who claimed it was working on the epic. if that is true then maybe the driver can be ported. but no one is working in that direction that i know of.

The specs for Infuse does not have HDMI out. Samsung has gone the route of DLNA like our current Captivate using AllShare.

Samsung has never been afraid of devaluing their devices. I worked for at&t until March of 2010, and I can say honestly that I have seen some crazy samsung stunts.
Example of Gimping one model to not devalue another:
BlackBerry Bold 9000 - 3G, WIFI.
BlackBerry Curve 8900 - EDGE, WIFI.
Why is the 8900 3G on every carrier that supports it EXCEPT at&t? Because they didn't want to devalue the Bold 9000. On other carriers, the 8900 was the top-end 3G BlackBerry, but not on at&t.
Example of Samsung not giving a damn:
Samsung Eternity. Great feature phone, pretty decent touch screen, overall good device. I owned two, personally. My youngest sister and her then-boyfriend both owned one each.
Samsung Propel. Another great feature phone, with a slide-out QWERTY. Bought them for my mother, my other sister, my brother-in-law. None of them had complaints.
Shortly after:
Samsung Solstice, Samsung Mythic... both replaced the Eternity.
Samsung Flight, a Propel with a touch-screen. (Replaced my mother's Propel with the Flight though... trying to get her into touch-screen first, then transition her to android!)
Samsung didn't care how heavily stocked we were on the Propel, the Eternity and the Impression. They dropped those new phones like it was no big deal.
So, I wouldn't count on dual-core. Samsung likes to generate as much buzz early on as possible to get people talking about their new phones... hardware is -always- secondary to them. The thing they hold back until just before release is the UI. The Mythic is a great example... almost the exact same specs as the Eternity, but the UI is what they held back to just before release and what was it? Some god-awful slow iPhone knock-off UI.
They LOVE the horizontal scrolling in the 'app drawer'. They did it with the Mythic, then with TouchWiz. Bleh.

From iphone 4 To Epic 4G Touch

So far I love this phone. I'm just missing one thing the iPhone has that this one doesn't.
And that is RAGE! RAGE the game that is. Is it ever coming to the android????
And meantime is there something even close to it for android? I like the simplicity of aim shoot and get out the way from stones....
I don't like nova 2 its hard to control for me. Any suggestions of a nice aim n shoot kind if game?
Also, on the back of my sprint sprint phone it says in big letters "galaxy S II" so why on earth are we calling this phone EPIC 4G TOUCH? should be SPRINT GS2, PIRIOD!
Thanks.
Call it what you want homie, pple know what you mean. Call it all that and a bag of tricks and I know what you're talkin about.
The reason it is called galaxy s 2 is because samsung wants name recognition across all of the carriers. They have forced them all to place that name before whatever name they want to give it.
As far as your game have you tried to google rage for android.
Sent from my Epic on Midnight or my Galaxy Tab rooted (feels naked without a ROM)
Google rage comic maker? Are you serious??? Do you actually know which game I'm talking about? I doubt it but thanks for at least replying.
Carmack has expressed interest in Android and more than hinted at working on it, with comments about being how he's going to regret using iPhone-centric tags in the RAGE code when he ports to Android. That said, he's also since stated that the wide range of available hardware for Android concerns him and may prevent him from considering it too seriously. So we're in a waiting game on RAGE.

ehhh Bad ass phone but the camera microphone suxs

I too am really disappointed with the audio recording capabilities of the phone. I had the Photon for a couple of weeks. The Photon had an amazing recording and playback capability. Unfortunately, I had a lot of issues with the phone so I traded it for the Epic 4G Touch.
I was at The Script concert last week and while the video quality was excellent, the audio was horrible! I've looked for a fix but can't find any. There was a link I found a page where it shows a fix for Galaxy S by going to Service Mode. I was not able to do it with the Epic Touch. Here's the link: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-fix-distorting-audio-in-samsung-galaxy-s-and-galaxy-3/
This is the only major issue for me with the phone. Does anyone know of a fix to adjust the mic gain or any other fix?
By the way, where is the mic on the phone? I was thinking of maybe putting tape to lessen the sensitivity.
I couldn't agree more! BUT! Once we have a more stable root and the root worry woes are no more then I would love to try this! I don't know it if would have to be changed for our Epic Touch 4Gs but this would be simply amazing!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104051&page=59
have the same issue (audio is useless for live music). im also with dcraig. waiting for a stable root process so i can try out the hacked camera apk.
Any updates now that time has passed and we have more than enough stable roots? This is ridiculous that nobody has been able to crack it. I am ready to pay money the first chance I can to make this right, someone could do well if they cracked this issue.
Thanks

Pretty sure the high bitrate mod fixes the sound issue. You can find it in my aio thread in dev section or there is a post somewhere in apps with it also.

Sprint Galaxy S3 Audio Hardware

I have been trying to get infos on US version of Galaxy S3 whether it is Wolfson DAC or not, but unable to get any confirmations from early receivers yet. So, in a hope of receiving something, Can anyone of you who received Sprint Galaxy S3 confirm its audio hardware whether it is Wolfson DAC?
Ummm which either one is the better one I think Wolfson its the same as the og epic one of the bigger reasons im getting the phone the amp chip on the s2 doesn't cut it like the epic did
If you searched you would find that it does have the Wolfson dac

Actually this is not so clear cut.
I have been following this for a few weeks and apparently at the samsung launch party it was asked and reported that it did.
But no one as far as I have seen has actually confirmed this for sure (physically or by driver)
Here is another discussion with plenty of disagreement
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721807&page=7
So...If a current user of the phone has the know how to extract this info I believe it would be helpful.
I would love to help but waiting for my 32 gb ..........

Probably while you were writing your post, AndreiLux confirmed that the U.S. versions do no use Wolfson by linking to the system configuration files in the released source code. Well, that answers that, unfortunately.

The tests over at GSMArena agree with you. They found lots of distortion, noise, and lack of stereo separation.
At least the U.S. Galaxy S III models have excellent frequency reproduction. I mostly ignore the dynamic range (I think it's difficult to be sensitive to the minor variations in this regard). I'm just worried that the noise will be high enough to be perceptible, and it doesn't make me happy to know my headphone channels are mixing more than they should.

It all depends on how you look at it if you listen to raw "FLAC" format audio then DAC will make your phone sound beautiful but if your listening to lower quality mp3's then a compressor will defiantly do you well. All DAC is ;in a nutshell ; playing audio exactly the way it is.

The audio DAC (as people are using it here) is an electronic system that converts the digital files stored/generated on your phone and allows you to hear them on your analog devices like headphones and the speaker. If it introduces distortion and noise, then it will do so regardless of the source material. You could argue that it doesn't matter with ten-year-old, low-quality MP3s, but it does matter somewhat.
Also, I'm not sure what you mean by a "compressor" in the context of playback.
Also keep in mind that, ultimately, it doesn't matter that much. The audio quality is going to be better than anything you might have listened to twenty years ago, and most people aren't going to notice unless you have a good set of earphones or speakers and are listening at a very loud or very quiet volume. If you tend to keep your volume around the middle of the "bar", I think you'll be hard-pressed to notice anything at the differences we are discussing here.
According to those tests the dac in the s4 krait is a actually superior to both the gs and gs2..and I can personally tell you my evo LTE sounds great with both my beats tours and klipsch ear buds
