[Q] video conversion settings

Hi all,
Want to know what conversion settings, specifically video and audio bitrate, aspect ratio etc. should i use for converting videos for desire hd. Also which converter is the best (something that also allows subtitle embedding).
Thanks!
You can find some ideas @ http://developer.qualcomm.com/dev/chips/qsd8x50-chipset-family in the Video Decode section.
I use a program called handbrake there's a preset option for the iPhone, I just use that and videos display perfectly

[Q] How can I convert videos to 800x480?

I'd like to play videos in full screen at the full resolution of the device. Any ideas how I can do this?
Thanks
U can use any DVD converter, allows for setting custom resolution of video being converted
Or simply play file with res like 1024x720 or 1280x720 works well for me

what about the resolution ??? i checked tubemate, there is no 480X800. all other formats from low quality to full HD is there. why should i waste my network bandwidth downloading unnecessary format when i am on limited plan ?
doesnt it sound correct ? is there any other way to download exactly 480X800 for SGS2 ? like any tweak or something ?
There is no 480X800 resolution on YouTube, downloaders grab only files in formats available on yt servers.
check my video

Best Video Format for arc S

Hey, I'm not sure if I had already posted this before but it didn't show up under similar threads.
What is the best setting to convert videos so that my arc S can play it flawlessly?
So far the settings that I've tried always makes the video a little choppy here and there. Any help would be appreciated since I really want to use my arc S to watch movies on my travels.
The settings that I need would be
1) Resolution Size
2) Frame Rate
3) Bitrate
4) What file type and etc.
Thanks
P.S. If you can share what program you use and put a download link that would be great.
i used to convert videos using these settings
resolution: 854x480, must fit arc's screen
frame rate: 30fps
bitrate: >1.5Mbps is fine to me
encoded in H.264, mp4 format
audio: AAC 128Kbps
i was using cyberlink media espresso
for freeware try http://www.hamstersoft.com/free-video-converter which supports hardware acceleration
how was the quality when it played on the arc?

Yes, you will have the best quailty playback if you set the resolution as 854x480.
Because the full resolution of arc is 854x480. If you have a video which the resolution is 1280x720, it will only play as 854x480 on the arc's screen.
mp4 is a good format of video to play on arc, too. because it can decode mp4 video using the hardware but not the software, so you can play mp4 smoother than other formats.
If you aim at best quality, then set higher bitrate say >3Mbps, but not too much because it will cause lag
I tried 1280*720 with 10Mbps @ mp4. Worked fine.
I've been using MoboPlayer and it works well. It's been playing all files that I've thrown at it without hiccups.
Today I tried to play Game of Thrones 720p.mkv video on my arc S, and it was't really smooth. It lagged a lot. I tried vPlayer and MoboPlayer, and neither of them worked.
So, what can I do, exept thah I convent video?
Sorry for my bad English.
EDIT:Nevermind, just tried DicePlayer, and it plays very well.
my xperia arc s doesnt support h264 video. is there any mod for that
my xperia arc s doesnt support h264 video. is there any mod for that.
i tested it on official ics and ultimate hd both rom.
many thanks

[Q] Best tips of HDMI usage?

Hey,
Does anybody watch movies on their tv using their Arc and the HDMI cable?
What is the best combination of video format and resolution and video app? I want a good combination so the movie looks good on my new 37 inch HD tv.
Any advice or feedback will be appreciated. Cheers!
yesterday only i tried to play mp4 format 720p movie on HDTV with MX player...it was damn smooth..in between it used to lag just fraction of a second..
Mp4 file and 720p. Try handbrake for file conversion. 1080p would be a waste since the arc can only output 480p and 720p through its hdmi port.

thanks guys, I just tried 720 and mp4 format with mx and it was pretty smooth and looked alright on the tv
