[Q] How can I convert videos to 800x480? - Defy General

I'd like to play videos in full screen at the full resolution of the device. Any ideas how I can do this?
Thanks

U can use any DVD converter, allows for setting custom resolution of video being converted
Or simply play file with res like 1024x720 or 1280x720 works well for me

[Q] video conversion settings

Hi all,
Want to know what conversion settings, specifically video and audio bitrate, aspect ratio etc. should i use for converting videos for desire hd. Also which converter is the best (something that also allows subtitle embedding).
Thanks!
You can find some ideas @ http://developer.qualcomm.com/dev/chips/qsd8x50-chipset-family in the Video Decode section.
I use a program called handbrake there's a preset option for the iPhone, I just use that and videos display perfectly

what about the resolution ??? i checked tubemate, there is no 480X800. all other formats from low quality to full HD is there. why should i waste my network bandwidth downloading unnecessary format when i am on limited plan ?
doesnt it sound correct ? is there any other way to download exactly 480X800 for SGS2 ? like any tweak or something ?
There is no 480X800 resolution on YouTube, downloaders grab only files in formats available on yt servers.
check my video

i download HD vids through Tubemate (not in the video)

[Q] Best tips of HDMI usage?

Hey,
Does anybody watch movies on their tv using their Arc and the HDMI cable?
What is the best combination of video format and resolution and video app? I want a good combination so the movie looks good on my new 37 inch HD tv.
Any advice or feedback will be appreciated. Cheers!
yesterday only i tried to play mp4 format 720p movie on HDTV with MX player...it was damn smooth..in between it used to lag just fraction of a second..
Mp4 file and 720p. Try handbrake for file conversion. 1080p would be a waste since the arc can only output 480p and 720p through its hdmi port.

thanks guys, I just tried 720 and mp4 format with mx and it was pretty smooth and looked alright on the tv

[Q] Whats the best resolution to convert a video to for the Galaxy Note 2?

I watch a lot of movies on my phone, no matter which one it is.. I had a iPhone 4, with at least 10 movies... My Galaxy Note had about 6 movies.. Now, I'm about to put a few movies on my Galaxy Note 2 as well..
Just wanted to know what resolution I should convert the video to so that the video size is not too big, and it uses almost the whole screen...
I looked up Wikipedia, and found out the screen resolution is 1280×720.. I use Xilisoft to convert movies, so I'll try this resolution out to see how the videos come out..
Does anyone have any presets they use while converting videos for their Note 2?
I'll post how the quality comes out.
I always use 720x1280 and it looks perfect like an hdtv

what program do you guys use to convert video for the Anroid system.
And with the Note 2.. the box has DIVX written on the side.. so does it need to be transcoded to something special for it to play or does mp4(i think it is) work fine?

I put a blu ray rip of T3 on my Note2. Used mediacoder. Kept video and audio format (1920x1080) but changed to a mp4. Looks really great no stuttering. Only thing was file size 7gb. had to split to fit on sd card.

I google searched that product and there's several different versions it seems. They have one specifically for mobile phones, iphone, ipad, a full out pc version... which are you using?

Since the note 2 screen is 720p I code my movies at 720p too. Mp4 at 2500kbps is fine for 2.35:1 movies. For 16:9 movies you might want to increase the bit rate a little higher. Audio: ac3, or aac at 192 kbps. I really wish note 2 can support dts audio!
Btw isn't it painful to watch movies on the tiny iphone screen?

haha. true.
i have huge hands (not to mention my height, 6 feet 2 inches).. i had been using the Note since April, before switching to the Note 2 earlier this week, and the transition was very smooth..
before the Note, I used (any guesses?) an iPhone 4 32 GB for 2 years..
now, I cant even possibly think of going to a smaller screen, let along an iPhone..
my brother has a Galaxy S3, and I feel even thats puny in my hands (even though the difference between a Note 2 and a S3 is smaller than a Note 2 and an iPhone 4/5)...

720x1280? Isint that something you would do if the video was horizontal?
i converted 6 movies with the following settings on Xilisoft Video Converter, and they are brilliant..
keep in mind i do not use the default video player.. i use MX Player ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mxtech.videoplayer.ad&hl=en ) to watch my videos.. i also use it to watch streaming videos..
i use this because it not only gives me the option to resize videos to fit screen size, but also swiping back and forth on the screen allows me to fast forward and rewind by seconds of my liking, giving me more control..
make sure if you install this, you also install all the free codec types available..
it not only plays formats playable by the Note 2 by default, it plays a host of other formats such as .mkv (if you really really want pretty good quality, and dont care about the size of the video)..
anyways, here are the settings i used on the Xilisoft Video Converter to convert videos for my Note 2 -
Profile - Andriod - Android (320x240) - H.264 Video (you can choose a higher resolution, this gives you a smaller size.. eg. 854x480)
These settings are available on the right panel
Video Size - 1280x720 (videos will be converted to the highest resolution the Note 2 supports)
Video Quality - Normal (you can push it up to High if you want, increasing the size... but if you are already converting a video from a good quality, then there is no need to chance this)
Audio Quality - High (here, i'm willing to accept a size increase by ~100 mb, but normally it wont be that much.. no fun watching a movie with crappy sound quality)...
Going to advanced settings
Zoom - Full (keep aspect ration)
Aspect Ratio - 16:9
Volume - 100% (bump if you your video is not loud enough... may distort the clarity a bit, obviously)..
and there you have it..
Xilisoft
Hello Tutusinghsohi
I am using Xilisoft as well.
They have a preset for Note2 but the bitrate is 4000. So final file is super large. It takes like 5 hours to convert. And if I lower the bitrate, the video will NOT play on the phone.
Please tell me, what bitrate do you use?
Any tips?
Thanks
Julien
I use MeGUI. It's completely free. It took some configuring, but I can convert targeting a specific filesize. I find 2GB is a good target filesize for average length movie with good video quality.

I'm using xilisoft and has a preset already for galaxy note 2. I'm just surprised at the conversion. the movie was 700mb and end conversion became 3gb. it's a bit high for a mobile video IMHO
Transcoding? Ick.
I just throw the mkvs I download straight onto my SD card and play them with no issues. 720p or 1080p.
I've also been using AllShare to throw them up on my 55" Samsung HDTV since my HTPC has been down, works great.
just use VLC media player... if you open the file menu theres an option to convert media files in there. And its free and not spyware like most of those converters around on the internet.
