[Q] Need YouTube Downloader with SGS2 resolution format for downloading - Galaxy S II Themes and Apps

hi friends, i tried so many places on the internet for downloading youtube videos with 480X800 resolution which fits perfectly on SGS2 in mp4/mkv format...
but no single app gives me all the option which i require.... what should i do ? which is the best site/app to download any high quality preferably HD video into 480X800 resolution in MKV/MP4 format...
if anyone finds an app/ writes an app specifically for SGS2, i would be greatful. or if there is any tweak to download videos from youtube at a customizable resolution ? pls let me know...

I always use tubemate. Check it out, its free on the market.

what about the resolution ??? i checked tubemate, there is no 480X800. all other formats from low quality to full HD is there. why should i waste my network bandwidth downloading unnecessary format when i am on limited plan ?
doesnt it sound correct ? is there any other way to download exactly 480X800 for SGS2 ? like any tweak or something ?

There is no 480X800 resolution on YouTube, downloaders grab only files in formats available on yt servers.

check my video

i download HD vids through Tubemate (not in the video)

[Q] How can I convert videos to 800x480?

I'd like to play videos in full screen at the full resolution of the device. Any ideas how I can do this?
Thanks
U can use any DVD converter, allows for setting custom resolution of video being converted
Or simply play file with res like 1024x720 or 1280x720 works well for me

[Q] Encoding video for Desire Z

I'm wondering what is the optimal encoding specs that would work on the Desire Z?
I have the Rebuild of Evangelion 2.22 on video, but it's in 1080p and it's 6gigs in size. I'm wondering what's the best specs for me to run the video file on my desire z smoothly.
I'm looking at size, bitrate, encoder, and audio specs.
Convert to avi and install either vplayer or rockplayer. No extra bs needed with apps like that.
Sent from my Vision using XDA Premium App
I'm still in need of the resolution and bitrate. I'm probably going to be encoding the file in mp4 (h.264)
Like I said you don't need to do anything besides convert to avi. I play bluray rips of very larg size and works fine. When I first started adding videos I was asking the same question you are. Use one of those 2 players.
Or you could google your question and find other answers way faster than waiting for responses here
Why do you want to use mp4? Rockplayer and vplayer play tons more codecs. Less compression=better video/audio
Sent from my Vision using XDA Premium App
I use MP4 because it is 90% more reliable than other codecs out there and the quality to compression ratio is pretty good. I would like to be able to fit a feature length movie in the small 8gb card I have on my phone (4gigs available atm)
And i have already searched google, nothing really came up. maybe i'm using the wrong keywords, but there was nothing that mentioned resolution, bitrate, etc.
besides, watching 1080p on such a small screen doesn't make it look any better as opposed to it being watched in 720p or so since it's so small.
I've had the best results by using Handbrake and converting the video to mp4 (ffmpeg) format and resizing it to the Z's native resolution. Settings are pretty much default with around 1500kbps (could be too much depending on the source).
sounds good. I'm probably going to leave it at 720p for safety's sake, but I'll re-encode the file to 640x480 for comparison.
I find that I get better video quality results using SUPER than I do with Handbrake, I'm sure it's just a settings thing since they both use the same tools under the hood.
Was searching for a guide as well, from this article, Desire Z has been known to support h264 with baseline profile at level 3

All about Videos(Conversion softwares, formats,Video Players)

Hi guys I am starting this thread because i didn't find much information regarding:
1)Video conversion softwares.
2)Best video formats for obtaining least size with highest possbile quality
3)Converting full HD videos to be able to play on defy with the best quality
4)Best players available for defy to play good quality videos smoothly.
I have started experimenting on this..
I am using total video converter for conversion and Moboplayer for playing.
Keeping Resolution 854x480 and Video bit rate 2500Kbps.
I get a file of size 55Mb .avi(H.264) after conversion of a 113Mb .mov(1080p) file.
I want you people to tell me your methods and softwares for doing this.
I hope this thread will help all people having trouble in playing HD videos on their Defy.
I will keep updating whenever I find something new and useful info.
Thank You.
For the Defy, my favorite video conversion software is Handbrake.
It's free and it's the best at letting me crop 4:3 format videos the way I want easilly.
- Choose the 'iPphone Legacy' format
- Uncheck 'large file size' and 'Iphone 5G support'
- Select your file name/location and resolution [make sure that keep ratio is enable];
- Choose auto or set your custom cropping
- Let it do the re-encoding; it is very fast: it keeps both my cpu cores at 100%
The Defy will basically play anything smaller or equal to its native screen resolution but most of the time, I find that 640x360 looks just fine.
What is the best container for 720p movies? I tried .mkv but Software decoding is too slow...Video is chopy but sound is good.
I made my own HD video with Defy camera (auto packed it as .3gp), and when played it was also chopy and even slower than .mkv :S
mp4 is native
Ok, that is cool...I have MS2Ginger1.0 with 720p video shootin, but I can't change format when shootin a video...It saves it like .3gp :S
That just sucks then

[App] Video Live Wallpaper "use your own videos"

Hey guys,
This has already been found in the orther threads on xda but i thought i would bring this to the SGS2 forums. Video Live Wallpaper is an app in the market that will allow you to set any video with any video format and set it as you live wallpaper. It can Read from your memory card or from internal memory. Very cool app and i have been using it for a few months on different devices and doesnt drain battery as fast as i thought.
Also this is another app called tubemate which will allow you to download any video from youtube straight to your phone. with these apps together i was able to find music videos and have them set as my wallpaper and also have them set to change after each video. pretty cool find and much thanks to the dev who created the apps.
***tubemate is not in the market you will have to seach for it ....google tubemate apk android*****
Link to Video live wallpaper: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.ccpcreations.android.VLW&hl=en
Nice concept. Will try it out.
also when downloading videos make sure you download the correct resolution that fits your phone ex: dont download 1920x1080 if your phone only supports up to 720p lol
nice!, i'll play with it

Weel I suggest use Rock Player. It play all reselution videos!
I use QQplayer.
Works like a charme.
For videoconversion i use Flv2Avi.
Most, so not al formats are present.
+1 for Rockplayer. It even has support for subtitles.

its about pixel man!
I experienced lag when playing high Res video in mx after watching xda noob vid when registering this account in tube mate with default res (no lag) and downloaded it with high Res and suddenly it remained laggy in mx
but when playing pretty big film after converted into Gio default (480*320) I have no laggy problem. it has NOTHING to do with SIZE, its about pixel...
here are some tips:
*the video ll not remained laggy in tge pixel res not too far away from default (480*320)
ex. 640*480 in some cases
*the high Res, ex. 1024*800, will remained laggy in ur gio device unless u convert to default...
*the size of video wont be the problem of lag, but it is because of PIX RESOLUTION
sorry for mistakes
thx...

Its you who dont understand video format does very big difrence in perfomance for example I can run smooth avi xvid rips but .mkv video lags no matter which is resolution and some 720p works some lags its depends on format not resolution ofcourse bigger than 720p will lag no matter what format you choose because of our weak phone so I will stick with xvid rips in avi format and I covert 720p videos and mkv files

hi!
sorry man
i was just explaining about something i know, really... u didn't say that your avi. format is avi xvid rips...
im truly a beginner user android or smartphone so i dont mind at all
but can you mention about on which part my mistakes are?
and also can u explain on which format the 720p video will run well smooth on gio, im realy wondering now...
mkv format is generally more cpu consuming than avi, because of the container the video is embedded in.
But of course the gio is not designed to do heavy cpu work, so 720 is really not the best resolution, better convert to gio resolution to avioid the downscaling process.
Dont really know about 720p I tryed randomly I think its better stick with xvid rips there isnt any purpose because of hvga on gio to watch 720p anyways and poster above one post you didnt made any mistake but I just think that video format is first point in performance and resolution is second

Hej what program do you use to convert the movies?
+1 for MX video player.
It has support for subtitles, and can stretch the video to screen to avoid black borders.
If you can live with borders, you can use BS Player lite.
It downloads subtitles for movies automatically for user defined language!
Its very useful if you watch movies from Gio.
I dont watch any .mkv films, 'cause they are too heavy for Gio.
Best format for gio is .avi
You can use AVS video converter to convert videos, just dl it with torrent
