[Q] Touch Screen Issue : HTC Wildfire - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have CyanogenMod-7 Nightly Builds (GWK74/2.3.7) on my HTC Wildfire.
I had rooted my phone around a month back. Everything seemed to work fine. Suddenly from past 2-3 days, I am having some with the touch screen. Touch is not getting registered in one specific line horizontaly across the screen. There hasn't been any physical damage, neither did my phone fell down anytime. This behaviour is consistent at the same location. (Specific Location : between 1st and 2nd lines on the keyboard) Can there be any software problem or there is an issue with the hardware. Anybody faced such issue previously?? Please help.

Recovery : Revolutionary ClockworkMod [4.0.1.4]
ROM : CyanogenMod-7 Nightly Builds [GWK74/2.3.7]
Kernel : [2.6.35.14] nFinity [email protected] #1
Radio : [13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10]

Can't be software IMO. Has to be a failing touch panel.

Yes it was an hardware issue. Service center told, some problem with the touch panel. Getting it replaced now. Hopefully, my phone would be back, fully fit, by tommorow. Anyways, thanks for the reply.

I have HTC wildfire and I noticed that my HTC used to behave erratically due to my Touchscreen. I thought this was a Software issue. So i Rooted my phone, Installed CM7 Stable build. Although i have been using for a day i find it has reduced to a certain extent NOT gone completely.
I have noticed that when i use the Stock Dialer in CM7 buttons 9,6,8,7 do not respond. but when i GoDialer i can use all the buttons in that.
Another thing That i noticed is that when i am typinf using the stock Keyboard in CM7 is sometimes some of the keys show the menu where we can select the special characters & numbers something like long pressing a key. And the letter y pops up every now and then.
Is it a hardware thing. Also what will be the approx cost of the repair and replacement in India if it is a hardware issue.
Any info on above will be appreciated.

[Q] Mobile network drops when screen blanks

I've got an annoying problem on my Desire. The mobile network (GSM/WCDMA, not data) drops when my screen blanks.
It's been doing it a lot today when on a call, I can talk for 30 seconds or so (that's what my screen timeout is set at) and then when the screen blanks, the mobile signal drops to nothing from a full signal.
If I up the screen timeout to 'stay on' then I don't have the problem, so it's definitely something to do with the screen blanking.
I'm running a rooted Desire with RCMixS Ace S 2.36.405.8 WWE Release base, 2.3.3.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Searched rom corresponding thread?
I experienced similar problem when I was on AOSP ROM and flashed Sense RIL. If you did not change the RIL that's included in RCMix I'd recommend flashing the latest radio. This could solve you problem.
I decided to revert my Desire to the stock RUU, and the problem still exists.
At least I can now send it back to HTC, and as it's still within it's first year, I'm not very hopeful that they'll sort out a FOC repair or replacement.

[Q] Desire Z Screen - Warranty?

Hi All,
The touch screen on my HTC desire Z has now started acting funny. I am still under warranty for the phone but I was wondering if someone can help me here.
I am running the latest version of MIUI, so have the phone rooted, S-OFF and cw recovery.
I have noticed that I can no longer move icons on my home screens to the right (i.e move an icon on one home screen to another, if it is one the right side, but left side is no problems). The backspace on the on-screen keyboard no longer works. everytime i try to press this, i just keep getting the letter m. Also i can no longer use the letter p on the on screen keyboard. I have also tried different roms such as cyanogenmod but still no joy.
I would like to send in for warranty but cannot understand what i need to do to make it factory standard again for warranty repair. Please help.
Thanks
sorry mods, just realised this is in the wrong section, can it please be moved.
Your issue seems to be with the digitizer going bad. I had the same issue and got the entire panel replaced via warranty.
Good luck
Take a look at the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Unrooting_and_Returning_to_Stock
And this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835971 (It refers to the T-Mobile ROMs, but the steps are the same. Just use the Desire Z ROMs from the first link.)
Touchscreen problem
Hi all!
I hope someone could help me,
My Desire Z touchscreen works weird, sometimes it does 2 unusual things:
-sometimes when trying to scroll it will zoom in or out like there is another finger there but there is not. If i run pointer location test, then it shows there is screenpress in the middle, but im not pressing it. the only way to fix it is to turn off the screen then turn back on.
-other times, the problem is similar, about 1/4 of the touchscreen in the middle/horizontal does not recive input.
The problem happens mostly when i play games, or read pdf!
Is this problem related to the digitizer? I have tried more ROMs, the same problem.
Thanks in advance

[Q] Touchscreen Issues

So for the entire year and a half I have had my T-mobile G2 (aka HTC Desire Z) my touch screen has had issues.
It seems to happen mostly when I am doing something memory intensive, but not always.
My screen either goes completely unresponsive to touches or acts like only 1 touch is performing “pinch to zoom”.
To remediate this issue I have to hit my top power button to turn the screen off and then back on, but this is just a temporary fix.
It does seem to last a little bit longer before starting this behavior if I do a complete reboot.
My phone is still usable but this is an ultra-annoying issue that I believe should be able to be fixed. I have used task killers and messed with the performance options in cyanogenmod to no avail.
This has happened on the stock ROM and every other rom I have ever run. I am currently on Andromadus Alpha (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1349864).
Thanks for any help in advance.
I have the same problem since its new.
It does it when the screen is dirty too.
Makes a huge difference when I'm using my old moto milestone, the screen is more responsive.

[Q] Changing resolution and power issues One X

Hi all
Had the One X (from vodafone uk) for about 6 weeks now - fantastic phone and very happy until yesterday. The phone started doing this on Sunday afternoon and has become progressively worse over the last 24 hours.
Possibly unrelated but the issue first occurred after installing 6 app updates (astro file manager, dropbox, frontline commando and 3 others which escape me)
Display goes from "normal" to ultra low resolution. Seems to coincide with buttons becoming unresponsive (including power). Phone will often not display anything though I can here alerts as messages come in. If I hold in power button to turn phone off the back, menu and recent apps buttons flash briefly but phone display does not come back on.
I tried to link to some images from my public dropbox folder but don't have enough posts on here yet. Attazhed 7z file with png of the display going batsh1t.
Yesterday it was somewhat intermittent today its become progressively worse however. In between bursts of display oddity I managed to get the latest OTA updata from HTC/Vodafone installed 1.29.161.3 but problem persists. I've also done a factory reset to no avail.
Current versions if this is in any way useful:
Android version 4.0.3
HTC sense 4.0
kernel version 2.6.39.4-g1389c4c
I'm guessing as factory reset did not work and neither did the OTA update then I'm looking at hardware issue (GFX or CPU or mainboard?) and most likely back to Vodafone for repair. Just seeking advice if I'm on to the right likely issue here and if anyone else had same/similar issue in case a software update *could* resolve the issue.
Cheers
looks like hardware issue like not all of the data is being sent to the screen, did you drop it or something?
anyway send it back and get it repaired or replaced
this happened to one of my old desire, i dropped it hard and the screen went all low res and weird colours
RESOLVED: Changing resolution and power issues One X
Hi Mox, thanks for that, sort of confirms what I already suspected. Was just hoping a software update or similar could resolve rather than saying goodbye to the phone for 3 weeks while Vodafone sort it.
Don't remember dropping the phone (but I have kids).
Sorting out with Vodafone now. Thanks again.

[Q] Issue with the screen... hardware or software

Hello all,
I'm not the first person with this problem here, but try to find some answers.
My issue is - I had dead zones and some ghost touch on my phone. Installed Artmod, but still had the problem with the screen. Then replaced the screen with spare one. The dead zones disappears but ghost touch doesn't.
Installed some diferent ROMs - custom and stock, but nothing. Ghost touch appear periodically but when I use for example Facebook Messenger he is uncontrollable.
My opinion is that the spare screen is defected, also.
So my question - is this a hardware or software issue, and how can I find the reason for this problem?
Waiting for some advices.
