Has anyone else had a problem with WiFi not connecting during a call? If I connect to WiFi before a call is connected it will work, but if I try during it won't connect to the WiFi.
Anyone?

hey guys ive been trying to get my hotspot to work on this phone its new to me im coming from an evo 4g i had everything working great with the evo but my e4gt just doesnt want to allow me to tether for some reason. im running blazer rom and when i try to activate the hotspot i get an error message the same happens with caulkins rom also i have been unable to get any version of wifi tether to work either my question is why my kernel is ek02 does this kernel not support the hacked hotspot? i appreciate any help i can get with this.
I'm not sure about wifi tether but why not use the hacked sprint hotspots app? That would work.

This phone does AD-hoc and not infrastructure..... Evo did infrastructure but hardly any new phones do now.... If you want to connect via infrastructure you will have to use hacked sprint hotspot

What does the error say or what happens when u open it?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
There's no message it says error in the little checkbox when you try to turn it in and then it turns back off
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
You usually get that error when you are on stock and have not signed up for Hotspot service. Are you sure you are on a Custom Rom?
And Sprint Hotspot is infrastructure mode
I had that problem numerous times...I had to redownload the rom. You have a corrupted download. Hope that helps.

Globen is correct flash calkulins rom and download the **format all zip** (flash that about 6 times just to be safe) then download the calkulins 2.8.1 rom (FROM YOUR COMPUTER!!!!) and SPRINT HOTSPOT!! Should work. I said sprint hotspot because that what o use to tether to my PS3!! I had this issue once only!! hope this help

Ok so I'm seeing all of thesse posts about modems, I come from a samsung moment so I have literally no idea what anybody is talking about. So will somebody please explain?
Sent from my SPH-D700 with some ice cream on it
Its what gives the phone its signal..depending on the modem it determines if you have great signal or poor signal, and usually updates to towers.
In essence its the radio version and usually the newest the better but varies between location.

Yes there were modems but I didn't really care much as I could barely play games on it, it was my beat up phone. Hence the otterbox.

Ok, so if I never changed it and all I've done since stock unrooted was root it and go between clean gb, and marcusant, and am currently now on cm9, would it have changed from ei22 to el30? I'm very confused, I'm a n00b and I have no knowledge about modems. Please explain. Thank you
Sent from my SPH-D700 with some ice cream on it
Nope flashing a rom doesn't change the modem you'll need to flash the modem via odin or a delta depending on what modem your on.

So, if I want to flash to el30 while on cm9 what will I benefit from that?

Usually yes...most updated "usually" gets better results but always and I mean always depends on location. So really any modem would be beneificial.

I like the hardware but this loss of service thing is annoying.
Has anyone determined if this is a software issue? Sprints network isnt great but my evo 3d fares much better.
Ive read around on the internet and I THOUGHT I read a post that mentioned a user reverting to EG30 which solved his/her problem. Only thing that isnt positive is whether the user reverted to software EG30 or baseband EG30.
Any insight into this issue, how to revert to an earlier software version? Ive tried various radios but not software. I appreciate your time.
I'm having same problem....my evo 3d had no problem with Los but my e4gt is terrible where I live.....I was told to try different modems but I tried FCO7 AND FC14 still the same.

Hmm, what do you mean by "loss of service"?
This is a term used specifically to describe losing service while the phone says it has service...

Ok, maybe that is incorrect.
Just using it, for example sending a tweet or an email, one may send immediately. Then if I choose to refresh or send a second tweet/email right after, the transmission arrows dont light up for a while. Its like the radio is going to sleep way too fast and it takes even longer to wake up and complete the transaction. Enabling/disabling fast dormancy doesnt seem to make a difference.
Edit: under these conditions, I never get the "no signal" icon. Just seems the radio is sleepy
Well I asked around because my signal sucks but I called sprint and they said my area has really good service.....but people told me to try FCO4 and FC14 and FCO7 that might help so I did......nothing helped.
I just looked it says I'm using el29 on my kernal and FCO7 under baseband.......not sure if that helps, ill try to find out more and if it helps ill let you know

If not then manually install a different PRL, so you can connect to closer towers in your area, and don't forget to update profile and prl in settings>about phone> system updates

All,
I've just recently put 4.1.2 ParanoidAndroid on my E4GT, and no matter which JB modem I use, I seem to have data problems when connecting to a tower. Local wi-fi, no problem, but on a tower, things don't seem to be working well. I've tried ALL JB modems that I can find.
Anyone know what's causing this?
You need to use an ics or gb era modem with that, I do believe.

Thanks to all who responded. I'll do that.
I know the fix has already been said, but might I add, and for my own clarifications:
The only ROM I can think of that is compatible with a JB modem is Jellyverse is it not? I know that that is the only one I have ever used one on so...
