[Q] unroot lg nitro HD using superoneclick? - LG Nitro HD

I plan to return my nitro tomorrow before my 14 days is up. It's rooted with superoneclick. Should I bother trying to unroot? Would hate to brick it without a recovery rom available.

It won't brick you phone, I've done it several times already.
In my personal experience the clerks don't bother check the condition of the software on the phone, they turn it on (or not) and that's it.
And besides, if it's bricked, well, there is always a wall charger to blame
P.S.
What are you getting instead?

My mind isn't completely made up yet. I want to love the nitro but the occasional lag, poor scrolling, and battery life is what's ruining it for me. RAM manager has made a difference in app switching. I've been watching you guys closely hoping for proof of an unlocked bootloader as I'm sure another rom or hardware accelerated browsing in ics will make all the difference.
If i ditch it, ill probably just go back to my iPhone 4 for a couple months and see if the at&t version of the nexus gets LTE. I love this display, but don't know if I want to commit to the phone for 2 years. Will let you know what I decide.

Thank [email protected] Unroot worked without any problems. I decided to return it and wait and see what you all can find in the next few weeks. I played with the skyrocket and nitro side by side in the store.. what a difference. The skyrocket is buttery smooth. I would jump on it in a heart beat if there weren't those huge pixels staring me in the face . The HTC Vivid actually felt like a decent compromise if compromises had to be made. Nice qHD display and pretty smooth. I still believe the Nitro has the potential to be the top dog, but not in it's current state.
Keep up the good work. I'd love to see new software on the fantastic hardware.

The display on this is fantastic. I can feel your pain as it's not as smooth as the Skyrocket. I'm not a huge fan of the super amoled - especially compared to this. I have switched to the Zeam launcher and it has made a pretty nice difference. I'm hoping there will be an interim release by LG/AT&T to speed things up and fix some of the other minor bugs.
And most importantly hoping the dev successes continue and we can get some nice custom ROMs going (especially ICS).

I said this in the unbrick thread as well, but really I must emphasize my phone is much smoother with the Korean rom I flashed. I think I feel confident proclaiming that when ICS or hopefully CyanogenMod come to the Nitro HD, this device will be astounding. It's kind of crappy that our current stock rom is so sluggish, but there is good stuff just around the corner I think.

Don't you get 30 days to return?

what about bloatware? how much of it there? Maybe that's the reason it's smoother?

Yes, you have 30 days. Every Nitro owner who bought from Att should be able to return it since it came out this month.

[email protected],
I'd actually say there is at least as much, if not more bloatware. I really can't explain why, but navigating through menus and scrolling through apps just feels smoother. Now, I had never done a factory reset and reformatted my SD card until my fiasco, so it's possible that helped and that the Nitro rom might feel smoother when I get back to it.

Well, many people reported their phone feels smother after factory reset even if they didn't install anything prior that.

Are you kidding me, this phone is Soooo Much smoother after doing a hard reset, even with bloatware still on it. Even now the Atrix feel so much more sluggish compared to this phone. I dont understand wat people are complaining about this phone. Yes, there's many kinks on this phone that LG never took care of, but that's why we have XDA and the great minds in it, that is to improve the phones we have.
You know wat, Go ahead, go and change your phones to the GS II. And when the Nitro HD gets a significant improvement in the sense of ROMs or any other upgrades, all of you who left this phone behind can weep and regret your decisions

Compare an iPhone or skyrocket. There's a huge difference in smoothness vs the nitro.. especially with the web browser (even opera). Even rooted with ram manager and hard reset, it just doesn't compare. Saying there isn't a difference is like my friend's saying they don't see the big pixels in the s ii. Say what you want about iphones, but i think they have spoiled me in terms of user interaction.
All that said, I agree the phone has tremendous potential and will most likely outshine the s ii when all is said and done.. My guess is that some of the lag involves software rendering of the 1280x720. Scroll around and watch the nitro's CPU spike. Custom roms or ICS much resolve some of this which is why I'm going to wait it out a few more weeks or months too see what unfolds before committing to the device long term.

SGH-T989 this phone is beyond expectation!

Feedback based on Stock Tmo ROM
PROS
after spending more than 12 hours straight doing all kind of stuff to this phone, which would have normally killed it in the old Nexus S, the T989 has by far surpassed all the expectations i had with it.
super fluid, i can do more than 10 things at once without crashing, hanging, or freezing, and simply rebooting like it did on the Nexus S.
i can be copying things around withing the phone while doing or running other apps, or installing things, without feeling a bit of lag
those simple operations would have easily frozen the Nexus S until whatever was holding it is done doing whatever it was doing.
The network speed is amazing, areas where i had poor download speed, less than 1 Mbps, now i can get 3 Mbps, areas where it maxed out at 5 Mbps i can get 8~9 Mbps (these are all indoors tests), and this is all in the broadware riddle stock ROM from Tmo
Eager to run some outdoor test to see how much higher the speed goes
speed coping pasting stuff to and from the SD card to PC or SD card to from internal memory is super fast
screen is simply amazing, it's working properly as designed, it was expected of a SAMOLED+ display, no where near as bad as it was presented on the worry topics.
camera is great, and very responsive, no shooter lag at all, unlike the Nexus S
flash works fine
the build quality is the highest i've seen from Samsung
CONS
the only thing that does worry me is the back cover...
i'm afraid after a while those teeth that keeps the cover locked to the side might simply wear out after frequent usage, like changing battery packs, changing SD cards, etc.
the speaker volume for speaker phone/ring tone is kinda low, compared to the Nexus S
screen default auto brightness is waaaaaaay too low, lets just say it stays at Zero or 5% most of the time. (work around, disable auto, and manually adjust to your liking), this will get better once CM7 or 3rd party apps becomes available to auto adjust screen brightness level as we set it to the level we want.
hmm... i can't think of anything else at the moment
still too excited and having too much fun, flashing things, restoring backup, migrating stuff from old phone to new phone, and installing more crap load of stuff to my 32GB class 10 Adata, soon to be replaced with the sandisk 64GB when it arrives by mail so i'll be installing even more stuff, until the phone slows down to a crawl, then i'll hold back
I really want to go ahead and get it. I sold my sensation to get Galaxy nexus. But I am not going to pay over 600$ for a phone if it doesn't come to tmobile. I really liked the galaxy s 2
I'm not a big fan of the GSII looks are pretty standard build quality seems good but not premium. but where things change is once you hold the device and use it you get this damn rock solid device in every aspect. Camera looks Great more settings than stock 2.3, Screen looks great with vivid colors, performance is just blazing even after so many MEH reviews of not having a Exynos this thing flies. Made me say damn your not my favorite but you really know how to keep me happy LOL. for someone to say this phone is garbage or bad they must be out of their mind.
What are your thoughts on the radio? Do you lose signal often?
I wholeheartedly agree with your review of the GS2! AMAZING phone!

i've not noticed anything weird on the radio, made several phone calls conversation walking/driving around just fine
i use 3G data a lot, and did not lose signal, unless i'm inside the elevator, or places deep inside the buildings like toilet, and basement places
the radio reception is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than the Nexus S
i still need to test inside Cotsco and Walmart super centres
those places i used to lose signal on the Nexus S
Coming from a Vibrant and G2x, I absolutely love this phone. The Vibrant was really what opened me up to Android while the G2x paved the way for rooting, recovery, and ROMs.
They both had their quirks and I feel like the SGSII is THE best phone out there. I see myself with this phone for a long time because of the great development and involvement of the Android community.

I have to be honest guys, initially I did not like the thought of having a 4.5" display on my hands, I went and got the HTC AMAZE the same night was experiencing a horrible screen bleed, then found out the battery only last around 4-5hrs, it was a horrible 24hr experience... So, I decided to give the Galaxy SII a chance... OMG!!!... The GSII is the best phone I have ever had, battery is awesome I've been using the phone like there is no tomorrow, Web, YouTube, Text msg, Talking for hours, I mean constant use all day long, and I still have 30% left the battery, love it!!!... The screen, the colors, the camera its great... Definitely a way better build phone than other phones out there... Enjoy!!

I had a vibrant a while back and that phone just doesn't compare. The back cover on the GSII is flimsy but at least it feels premium while on the phone.

I too came from the Nexus S and share the same opinion on this phone as you. I also am quite happy with the current rom devs for this phone. I am running EagleBlood rom and am getting some crazy good battery life.

I have both the nexus s and the gs2. My gs2 spends more time in the box than it does being used. Don't get me wrong the phone is amazing but I like aosp(CM7). As soon as CM7 comes to the gs2 I wont look back. Gs2 ftw

I Love this phone its the bestest.
i came from iphone and the battery life is nothing compare to iphone. my expectations for this phone was off the charts, but now im just ehh.
Welcome to SGS2 Club AllGamer! Yes this phone is a Beast! Glad you finally got it.

Loving my SGS2, don't really have any complaints. I also love all the devs that are popping out of nowhere to develop for this phone, not to mention Team Whiskey is also working on something.
If they made my Vibrant go from a POS to an awesome phone, I wonder what they are gonna do with this one. Can't wait!
Hercules Hercules!!
other than the battery, this phones features are crazy. and there are a lot of devs doing nice stuff to improve it too
I am a flashing maniac as well as a guy who gets bored with phones in a few weeks. I have had all the top devices, and the SGS2 has honestly exceeded all of my expectations X100!!! I don't even have the urge to Root it and flash ROMs because I am actually happy with it bone stock (a first for me). I think I have finally found my dream phone. When people show me their new iPhones I just giggle and smile. I want to marry this *****!!!!

This phone is definitely amazing, exynos or not. I actually love touchwiz 4.0, something I thought I would never say. HUGE improvement over previous versions of touchwiz. No wonder why all tech reviews give this phone lots of praises.

same here, of all the phones i've ever had, i was never happy with the stock ROM
this is a first, never seen such a snappier stock ROM ever
the crapware from Tmo are easy enough to remove once rooted.
now, if i flash ROM is just out of curiosity to check out what cool features the guys are adding
otherwise if i want a stable ROM, i'll just flash back to stock
i actually have a copy of the stock ROM in my SD card ready to be flash back, just in case any of the ROMs becomes unstable
I love this damn thing. Stock rom surprised the hell out of me with the features/responsiveness.
The only gripes I have are the lines at low brightness, the insane amount of bloatware, and no notification light.
Other than that, wow. I really can't believe how much I adore this phone. And the fact that I love to mod my phones (nexus one, g1 and hd2) says a lot for this one when I say I don't have any desire to root. Besides the bloat, but at least the app drawer lets me hide it.
Ok, I'm using eagleblood with go launcher... I'm in a constant love fest with the phone. Was that too overboard? Inappropriate? Awkward? I don't care. Well I came from a Droid Eris, so my ecstasy should be understandable. The Go Launcher is really solid BTW(tried a couple others that performed really sketchy) and I got it to get the desktop in landscape mode(whenever needed).and yeah, it's solid.

Considering an S3, but have questions!

It has been about 8 months since I've had a "modern" Android phone, I was really frustrated with the lackluster experience of my Tmo Sensation--it was a dual-core but it honestly didn't seem much better than my Mytouch4g, or my MT3G slide. Many times I would find myself with a laggy experience, which is why I am so hesitant with newer phones still...Well that and the level of development is normally a tadd sketchy and rough around the edges for T-Mobile devices.
1. Is there a high interest in development?
-I know this may sound like a silly question, however it's essential for me because I have had terrible experiences with Samsung dev support for the two Sammies I've owned(Sidekick 4G+Galaxy Player 5). I know the S3 is from may but I would really hate to spend all this money just to find out it's development will play out like the Sidekick 4G's did(never passed froyo, and the player never passed ginger).
2. Bleeding: Is screen bleeding a common issue, and if it is does it get worse over time?
3. How do you guys feel about the CPU/GPU? (can anyone tell me the "min" cpu value?)
4. How do you feel about the screen quality?(this will be my 1st AMOLED & 720P device)
5. Do you experience lag? (if enough people say there's lag that will really turn me away--it's one of those nitpicks that I will not lose...I mean I have a iP4 that's smoother than recent phones--which is saying a lot honestly. )
6. Can someone please explain the whole IMEI loss to me? ( I am willing to remain stock if it means Devs can find a solution--I've rooted, flashed, adb'd, and what not many times but the risks are higher with the S3)
7. If anyone of you are using a S3 in nyc, can you please tell me what kind of data speed it's tugging?
(my sensation had pretty bad 4G/HSPA+ #'s which is why I'm asking this now)
8. Is the 2GB RAM a superfluous feature, or does it partially future-proof the device for 4.x or 5.x?
I know I am asking a lot from you guys, though you have to understand that I don't want to get trapped in a renewed contract with a device that will be cut loose only a few months only after release. I am not into the whole scam of receiving 1 update(as in going from 1 android ver to another) and then never hearing of anything again.
Bump. Doesn't anyone have any input about this phone? -_-
Most if not all of your question are answered in other post, people just get tired and rewriting everything. So dont expect the same questions to get answered every time.
So your coming from some less desired devices, you will deff see dev support on a much higher level. I mean this is the Galaxy S 3 not some low end device.
My advice is make the jump or go try it for the 14 days and return if ya dont like it ( i bet you will like it).
Well good luck,

That's what people said about the Amaze 4G, Rezound, Galaxy SII(tmo), and Galaxy S Blaze...Those aren't low end but they never took off development wise. I am wondering whether or not Devs are scared away due to the S4 being in the Galaxy instead of the Exynos--so far I see about 20+ ROMs for the int'l S3 and 1-5 active ones for this S3. That is why I show great hesitation with new Android phones, their futures are always uncertain if the device isn't international or a Nexus. I tried this device briefly at a tmo store and I though it was really okay, but that's cause it was hooked up to a display stand so I couldn't get a real feel for it.
I came from the sensation to the S3 and am very happy.
It really all comes down to how you use your phone. I did like HTC sense, and sense 4.0 was nice through some of the custom roms available.
But the S3, in my opinion is way better. But its going to come down to your personal opinion.
I have not had any problems with the phone- granted I got it 2 weeks ago and not at release so I haven't had it too long. But still no problems.
THe screen is very nice, again in my opinion. There are some that say they don't like it and it could be better.

Well since you've owed a Sensation, can you tell me if you notice a difference in performance. I mainly ditched the Sensation because it didn't seem very fast, it lagged very often but keep in mind this was before ICS was out for it. Honestly I have lost faith in Qualcomm's competence--they really threw me off when they made their S3's as a A8/A9 design.
Thats probably one of the main reasons I switched from the sensation... that and i couldn't seem to find one with a speaker phone I could actually hear...
I haven't noticied any lag at all on the S3. Not like the sensation. It was definitely noticeable, esp on the stock rom. I've only had S3 for about 2 weeks and love it. I haven't tried any custom roms yet, but have rooted and installed google wallet which works great. I still haven't tweeked it too much or loaded it up with apps and media.

Its a completely different animal. I can promise it will meet and exceed your expectations.
On another note. I average 18+ hours of pretty decent usage.
My sensation goes on the charger @ noon typically. Not this. I get home with 40% left..

Well I am happy to hear that it's not a mess like the Sensation. It had a nice look to it, but speed wise it was a joke for a dualcore phone. If you say there's no lag on ICS, then I can only imagine what would happen if it got JB+project butter. I guess you have put my fear of lag to rest. However I will wait a little while longer to see if Dev support picks up, right now it seems to be where tmobile's SII+amaze were at in their early life(which was a bad place). Once I see at least 10 active aosp/aopk/CM10 ROMs I will definitely get one. Thanks for everything! :fingers-crossed:

1) The phone has been out for a month so development is merely getting started. It will pick up as time goes by and we will see major roms like cyanogen andothers here (CM9 already and cm10 preview available). Many custom made kernels out there that are amazing.
2) Haven't head of screen bleeding on this device and mine (2 days old) has none. Be warned if you have not heard about the black splotches look into it. When screen is on and completely black you may notice some black splotches around the screen (you wont notice on day to day use unless you try to look. Every device varies you might get one with minimal blotches. This is a side effect of the AMOLED.
3) I believe stock cpu was set at 1.4ghz and I'm not sure what min was. Currently have mine overclocked to 1.89ghz max and 385mhz min.I camefrom the HTC one S and they have the same cpu. The snapdragon S4 is a powerhouse bro you will love the fluidity and performance here,
4) I first compared my HTC One S HDLED screen to my friends samsung blaze and I fell in love with the AMOLED screen. It is just has more POP and vibrant colors. You will love it, idk how anyone can dislike this screen it is beautiful and blasphemy to those who use it on anything lower than max brightness.
5) Only time I have experienced lag has been when messing with the CPU clock and when my min profiles are set on setcput to anything lower than 1ghz
6) As far as I know the IMEI loss has been happening when flashing recoveries or flashing cyanogen using a recovery other than CWM. I Rooted and flashed CWM with no problem. Still havent flashed CM9 until it is more "complete" and I make sure the IMEI issue is not ROM flashing related. (again i have been browsing the forums for only 2 days so im still learning the issues here)
7) I live in the Bronx and work in Manhattan. The data speeds in my apartment suck compared to my HTC One S. I was getting 2-5mbps down and up on it but on the S3 I am rarely pulling past 1mbps down and up. This doesn't matter to me as I have wifi on 24/7 at home. At work (85th and Amsterdam I pull an amazing 15-20mbps down and 3-5mbps up in that area. I go giddy when doing speed tests at work.
8) No device is future proof but the 2gb will help keep the device more current as different Android versions are developed. It is also beneficial when dealing with many apps opening one after another multitasking and such. IF you are a power user it is beneficial. To most it's the same as 1gb
Hope I've helped.

Thanks for answering all of my questions. From all of the responses it sounds like I will be able to get the S3 without having to worry anymore. However I hope tmobile increases the 4G speeds in the bronx to match those of manhattan at least. :fingers-crossed:

You are welcome bro. Don't get me wrong most of the Bronx does have terrible speed in comparison to Manhattan but there are a few areas where the speeds have surprised me. Like a train stop away from here I get great speeds. 10mbps on avg.

the only problem i had and it happened with 3 from tmobile was the phone was getting very warm. so i got the note from t mobile and the performance difference is very noticable. the s3 is a power house fast internet load speeds smooth and the screen compared to the already beautiful screen on the note is sharper and brighter. I had the black crush issue with the note blacks were horrid so i received another s3 today i have them both in front of me and love em both but am gonna stick with the s3 because of the performance and the screen. If the new note has the inners of the s3 and a 5.3-5.5 inch screen the s3 will be history i love the size of the note..what im trying to say i would not buy a phone with anything less then the s4 snapdragon in .Plus if you want to upgrade the s3 will be desirable and hold its value for a while so you could sell in the future for the next best thing..

[Q] New to the Phone, What should I do?

Hello OG's!!! I have been lurking here for about week trying to decide between the S4, OG, and One. I went with the OG because the handset was just too gorgeous, even if it was released 10 months ago, the specs are still on par with anything being released right now. So I took the free upgrade to the OG instead of forking out for the others. My question (as an avid flasher) is what were you looking to correct when you flashed the phone. I always ended up flashing because I hated the skins or I wanted to go from GB to ICS to JB. So for those here who have jumped into rooting this phone, what was it that you felt the need to improve? Battery life? Just straight up AOSP? Wonky camera software? I've been playing for a couple of hours and so far I am happy with the camera (a little patience is required to get a really good shot) and I'm flipping around through the OS and the skin seems to be pretty light compared to HTC and Samsung. I think if I just load Holo Launcher and disable some apps I might be happy on stock. Until 4.3 or KLP get released.

As far as the camera, download the Google Play Edition Camera apk. Way better. As far as launchers, go with either nova launcher or Apex launcher with a JB Skin. I use it over holo launcher because I can hide apps in the app drawer and make the search bar persistent. I also use Holo Locker as my lock screen.

This device is one of the best you can get, and at the same time, can be one of the biggest pains you can buy as well. But, with some patience, balls, and a little insight, you can be running anything you want. If your interests are more towards stock, Lifeless and Vectus are both very good ROMs with plenty of features. If you prefer custom ROMs with lots of extras and choices, I personally would recommend one of the ROMs I work on, Beanstalk and JellyBeer. There are also AOKP, CM10, CM10 w/ Linaro, Rootbox, and others that will give you pretty much any kind of experience you want. Just make sure you read the rooting and unlocking thread very carefully and follow the instructions to the letter to avoid any hiccups. Also worth mentioning is the fact that all ROMs do have quirks and imperfections to them(I believe Lifeless is as close to complete stability as you can get, but it also is as close to stock as any of the others). All of these works are constantly being updated with fixes and new features, but our device can be finicky, so if you require total stability, you may just want to stay with stock. If you need any help, you can PM me, and if you want to learn to build on your own, take a look at Project Rookie II. Be cool
Welcome. I myself had to make a decision between this and the other 2 phones. I'm glad in a way I went with this 1. Its definitely on par with the other "big names" and its just as good spec wise. Only problem i have is the camera when its zoomed. I'm going to try the google play edition like danny stated. As far as rom goes, I believe Lifeless has pretty much the most stable rom going. Its pretty much stock but without bloat. Battery has been good to me, only app that I had problems with was Pro Player, so I got GMMP and its been better on the battery. Great phone overall but kit didn't get the recognition it deserved.
I dont really know LG's track record on phones, but I hope they dont EOL it before KLP. I have a feeling they will because OG2 and OG Pro are out, but then again like I said I dont know how LG works.
I am still completely stock, just added a new launcher, locker, and the Play Camera. I have a completely working photosphere (awesome, something I really missed from my Gal Nex). I have noticed that when taking macro shots, the Play Camera focuses better. But I was able to get some decent macro shots on the stock camera by getting the focus set from farther back and zooming in. I am still tinkering with white balance and ISO settings. But the flash seems to be bright as the sun and I can't do much with it, my pics keep getting washed out with the flash. But the performance, holy crap this thing is fun to use. Everything just pops.

This might sound weird.

So I've been around android and xda a long while. I've had countless android devices, none of which I was ever really blown away by. HTC magic was my first and nexus 4 was my last, and everything in between. Anyway, I recently grew tired of the same old and don't judge me, bought a Nokia lumia 810. Obviously completely different aspect and in my opinion wp8 has huge potential. I used it for a few days and found the hardware to be of insane quality, but the obvious was usability with lack of apps I normally use or apps that were missing options. So, I went back to my long tucked away gsm galaxy nexus and installed latest purity with fancy kernel. Instant red gratification. So, my question is, did 4.3 really improve that much in fluidity of the os as whole, because 4.3 feels a lot different compared to 4.2.2. It could be me being impartial in a subliminal mind type of way to android since I've been with it for almost 4 years. I was trying to convince myself that I needed a change and thought although beautiful, wp8 was the answer. Sorry for the rant.
well battery life's certainly been improved IMO
and the UI shows much less lag than 4.2.2
First run with a year and a half old battery gave me 4 1/2 hours sot. The gnex has definitely been revitalized
xD
Sounds like me.
4.3 definitely fixed the lag issue 4.2.2 had, but thats about all that has changed in jellybean, can't wait for klp.

yes, 4.3 fixed the lag issue 4.2.2. you may better check again.

SO! How are you finding your shiney new HTC M9 ?? Is it all you thought it would be?

As the title states.
Personally I love this phone, it's kind of like a really cool car, like an alpha romeo which has it's faults but just for the simple fact of the way it's made and the way it feels, I wouldn't change it.
EDIT: Maybe the battery life
Feel free to have a moan
I love the case I have and the way it perfectly matches the phone. It's a body glove and the phone is the darker one.
Video won't resume when going from the recent apps. It opens then disappears.
I love the speakers on front. When HTC did that year's ago I was amazed. Then I thought everyone should. I think it's crazy stupid not to. Sounds good too.
Screen is OK. I'd like bigger though and way better viewing angle. Gets dark when it's laying flat on my bed and I'm reading the web. I don't want to always hold it.
Keyboard is terrible in my opinion. Samsung works way better for me. I want keys a bit bigger and darker with numbers on top and much better auto correction. Swiftkey didn't work well enough for me.
Performance seems iffy. I mean I don't know if this is how things should be. I had the Verizon GS5 for 6 months like the 5th of this month so I'm used to that phone. Games sometimes jerk and seem to load no faster then on my GS5. They seem to crash much more. Games like the clash games, star Wars commander etc. Those types are all I play.
I want to disable apps I won't use so they're not always running. But this can cause issues maybe.
Battery needs a ton of help. Wish all phones had the power and 5000 mah battery would give.
I prefer Sense a little to tw and others based on color and lines separating options more in setting menus etc. Seems a bit more clean.
Have couple more days to return my phone and I'm not sure if I want to keep this and exchange for another or get a g3 or gs6. G4 not out for awhile still.
@buggs1a I hear you with the battery it isn't great but then I haven't tried to optimise it very much, once I cut out all the dead wood and find the wake locks it should be a lot better. 2 days is a possibility depending on usage. Haven't noticed the playback from video as I use MX player. Give it a whirl and use auto starts to kill off apps

I would return it if I were you. Because much of what you mention, are not real issues, but are areas that just don't meet your desires. The screen is not going to grow, the battery is not going to grow, and the keyboard is what it is. I'm surprised you couldn't find a skin for Swiftkey that satisfied your needs. Also, it sounds like you may have an issue with your phone, as mine is buttery smooth, no crashes.

Although the battery will get better with updates
I'm averaging close to 5.5 hours of SOT on a full charge, but I'm with AT&T and am typically always in an area with a reputable signal. Apart from actual usage, and assuming there are no wakelocks going on, a phones signal is the biggest battery drainer. No signal or a weak signal will keep the phone signal searching and cause more drain on the battery. For this reason, I agree, battery life can be improved thru updates, especially if the radio firmware sees an update.

I've been using the Minuum keyboard and have grown to really like it. At times it will frustrate me with it's auto-correction, but what keyboard doesn't? They have a free version to try, so maybe give it a spin.
I'm in agreement that the battery goes quick when power saver is not active. I have a feeling that it will improve with newer versions of Lollipop, Sense and perhaps even changed HTC bits that optimize the phone's performance on the 810 chipset.
Let us know which way you go...
I really like the phone! I had the S6 Edge just prior to this and went to Verizon to turn it in as I suddenly caught the auto rotate bug. The rep said this hasnt been fixed and that if it happens again I would have to go through Sammy to get a new one. Not wanting to do that I looked at the M9 and have been really happy since. It is comparable in almost every way to the S6. I do miss the edge on the edge LOL but that is sort of gimmicky.
I bought the M9 when it first came out and was very dissapointed... the first one was returned for overheating which didnt start well, I was annoyed at myself for impulse buying,. but after picking it up again a few days ago Im actually stating to enjoy it...
The camera has been improved alot (but not amazing) through the 1st firmware update and an updated camera app from the Play Store (Raw Format added) which makes me feel better about it.. although Cam still needs work. Boomsound Music Mode is great, as good as the M8.. and not the reported tinney-ness some reviews are reporting. It just has all the things I loved about the M8. For me though that "Sense Home" widget and start screen.. I dont know how this is a good idea, I find it drains the battery like nothing else, using location and tracking...
So far, battery life seems ok, I get about 2 days on Light to Modersate use - Music, Camera, BlinkFeed, I do actually like BF.. but so far.. Im happy with my M9, really like the added "Themes" engine... a nice touch.
It wouldve been nice to see HTC bump up the screen to 5.2 or even 5.5" @ 1080p (I think QHD screens on a device less than 7" is a bit unnecessary) . Just something to seperate it from the M8 other than a camera and Themes
I just hope HTC can get through this and pull out the stops for the M10.. now that Samsung are leaping their way back from the S5 fall with the S6 and LG with the amazing G4, It aint looking good for HTC. For me, they just didnt try hard enough, they just gave into internet pressure, relaced the camera and hoped for the best.. which wasnt a wise thing to do 3 years in a row from the M7.
M9 for me is looking great, just needs some fine tuning, which will hopefully come in 5.1
I exchanged my m9 for the g3 Friday yesterday. And I don't get it how videos show it has themes, but it don't.
No complaints at all coming from Xperia Z3 to M9. Happy I made the switch.
In fact it is the same feeling
It is too powerful to be contained, which is a really good thing
From the way Htc treats its flagships via software updates, i can see that this powerful machine will be even more optimised and speedy, and will get improvement in every area!
If you are not aware, the Taiwan M9 recieved an update to its base from 1.32 to 1.40 with some massive camera improvements! And it is said that people are getting past the 6 hours screen on time with the latest update, as well as reporting that the phone is a Lot cooler than the 1.32 base
So that is very great news indeed, which makes me feel very optimistic!
You see? Improved battery life, improved thermal management, improved camera performance! This is awesome
And still android 5.1.1 will boost the mobile's general perfromance with a lot of misc bug fixes and enhancements by google. The future is bright for this phone, i see

Im still on 1.32 mate, I'm running Leedroid and I'd rather he got all the issues sorted prior to a release, I've heard good and bad about 1.40, some lag with proximity and opening screen. Camera is improved by all accounts. Will see what happens.
Cheers.

Not entirely sure as to why it hasn't been rolled out, I can see Lee, leapfrogging this version and going for the next one, the issues at this point appear to outweigh the benefits, besides the camera ofc

Just things I've heard around the threads to be honest. Not speculating at all..
Beyond the apparently improved camera which in all fairness isn't that much of an improvement, the white balance isn't fixed and its still far too sharp, I've heard about random reboots etc, some of this is in Lees thread too
Do a bit of reading and you'll see for yourself, I don't just make things up and I'm not about to continue a heated debate especially when someone is presumptuous towards me.

I do plenty of reading and what I have seen is improved camera, improved battery life, and a slight improvement performance wise. I'm not looking for a heated debate. I just haven't seen much posted in the way of negatives, yet you say the negatives outweigh the positives, which is why I ask for some links. Now, I'm talking stock. If a developer takes the base and his custom rom causes reboots, that's on him.

Do you have a point to make about your phone? Is there something you'd like to share about the m9? Did you read the title of the thread?
You've jumped on other people and have challenged each of them towards their point. But you yourself have said nothing and contributed nothing towards the thread, that's actually trolling, this Is not a thread for that, this is for people to have their say.. I think this phone is beast mode, granted I'm coming from the EVOLTE, but I picked HTC for sound and it's GPU power which is better than its competition. Only thing that upsets me is consumer reviews and the fact that this device got bashed because of the m9+ released in the foreign market and users thinking it was so much better because of a slightly bigger screen and finger print scanner. I just hope this "hero" device they are talking about releasing doesn't deter development on the m9. Just my opinion
