Hi is it possible to completely revert back to stock rom after unrooting for warranty purposes so they cant tell I have unlocked the phone?
I think I need to send the phone back because im having a problem where the phone things its being charged even when its not plugged in!
You could always flash a stock from from the relevant development section for your phone. If your boot loader is unlocked you can re lock it using fastboot.

So if I do that they wont be able to see that I have voided the warranty by unlocking it?
Just relock the bootloader.

[HOW TO] Restore Galaxy Nexus to Stock V2

What OP means is, will the fact that he did unlock and root the phone leave any trace i.ex a logg file telling support that the device has been tempered with, even though it is restored to it's factory state for all we know. Can unlocking be traceable after resroring? I'd like to know aswell.

I've just flashed the eagle ROM and the battery saying its being charged when its not plugged in thing seems to have gone away for now... ill see if it comes back!

I have bought Galaxy Nexus today and I noticed that I'm still on android 4.0.1 and I didn't have any notification about updating to 4.0.4. So my question is that should I manually update my Galaxy Nexus (i9250m to be exact) to 4.0.4 or should I just wait for 4.0.5 update to come? Since I heard that there's some bugs in 4.0.4...

Also I should mention that my Galaxy Nexus is yakjuux which means that Samsung is supporting my phone, not Google.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
I would just switch over to yakju, to me "nexus" means google supported.

I would love to do that, but the thing is that on order to do that, I need to root my phone (unlock bootloader) which I really don't want to...

Unlock your bootloader, swap over, then lock your bootloader. Problem solved.

you do realize that unlocking your bootloader does not root your phone?

Personally I'd update in a second. 4.0.4 is a quality update and I'd use it over 4.0.1. Also I'd root immediately and unlock the bootloader. There is zero reason not to.
Wait for 4.0.6, that'll be bug free. For sure.

Yeah, I hear 4.0.7 is going to rock.
In all seriousness, there's nothing wrong with unlocking your bootloader and switching to the google-supported builds. If you really want your phone to remain locked and without root, then just relock the bootloader after you make the change. It should take you just a few minutes to do, following any number of guides available here (search will set you free), or on other sites (rootzwiki?).
I see no downside to leaving your bootloader unlocked. That would not prevent you from getting stock releases. However, I think you would need to keep stock recovery, meaning no Clockworkmod (CWM) recovery. It's unfortunate, because CWM is an amazing tool for taking backups. Then again, almost everything you could want to do can be done via ADB or fastboot.

Pretty much this.. no matter how long you wait, bugs will still exist on whatever version you're using.
I just don't wanna unlock my bootloader, because I don't wanna wipe my phone :/

Backup my friend..
Google would already back-up your pic's/videos/contacts etc.. your apps would be the only thing left for you to install again.

Yup, I learned that one with my nexus s. This time around, I did my research, understood I was getting a non yakju build. First power up was onto the bootloader to unlock it, then install yakju.
This phone of mine has never booted to yakjuux that it originally shipped with.

Also another thing I'm really concerned about it is that I'm in Canada, using Koodo network, and when I change, would I still get a service for it?

My phone came from Rogers, I'm using it on Telus with no issues. Koodoo is owned and operated by Telus, using the exact same network. It will work.

Unlocking your bootloader is not the same as SIM unlocking your phone.
Unlocking the bootloader has absolutely no effect on what carriers you can use the phone on.
What I mean is when I change my phone model from yakuux, would I still be able to get network?

I just got my Galaxy Nexus fixed from Samsung cuz i had some problem... But when I got my Nexus, it was unlocked! (bootloader) is this normal? Should I lock it back so I can get my support from Samsung (warrenty)?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
yep ive seen other users posts where they got their phones returned with an unlocked bootloader. just boot into the bootloader and type in fastboot oem unlock to relock it.
Ok I'm a bit of noob... Does the phone factory reset when you relock it? Also I don't have right driver I don't think... Is that okay with re locking it?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I believe it only resets when you unlock it, not when you lock it. I don't see any benefit of locking.

I'm thinking of doing that just because I'm not thinking of rooting this anytime soon and also so I can get the benefit of warrenty.

Completely understandable, BUT have you ever heard/read of any manufacturer refusing a warranty because the phone was unlocked (or even rooted)? I never have. Besides didn't you say you received it unlocked?

If a manufacturer/repair company refuses to repair a hardware-related error on a phone which has a modified software, I'm gonna lose hope in mankind.

If it's a hardware issue its really hard for them to argue its your fault for ROMing, then again, some carriers and repairmen can be a real pain. I recommend you erase all trace of you ROMing that you possibly can. Your warranty IS void when you do this stuff, and Android makes it blatently obvious by showing an open hinge on startup when you unlock the bootloader.

Yes send it back to stock to make sure its not a software problem. Don't use Odin. Flash it with Fastboot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895
If you return to stock and there's still a problem, then you should pursue a warranty claim.

Same thing happened to mine, two weeks ago, plug was fried. Mine charged only when turned off and plugged into an AC charger. Assuming you can't plug into a computer then fastboot may not be your answer, Odin is. I flashed mine back to stock this way and had no trouble at all with warranty. Have a look here for some help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27945515&postcount=128
By the way, If you need to back up stuff on your phone without USB access, AirDroid is pretty handy.
Thanks all
But when i called for warranty they told me it would take 3 weeks. So i just bought the part and fixed it for $12 hahaha

I can tell u from a T-Mobile source that when a phone gets sent in for repair, 9 out of 10 times they never even turn it on, all they do is connect to there system, do a complete wipe of every piece of software on the device and flash a stock IMG back on the device, u most likely will get a complete different device back, a refurbished device, which was someone else's rooted/bricked/broken device they salvaged, so don't worry I've never seen someone get denied on there warranty because they rooted, although u may be in that 1% so don't hold me liable if by some chance they do lol

Flashing a stock 4.3 restore will return your phone to original (stock) ROM and kernel, un-root, reset your flash counter and install stock recovery. Once your warranty bit is tripped, however, there is no known method of resetting this. Unfortunately, with your LCD bust, you wouldn't be able to see what you are doing. You can only hope that since they wouldn't be able to see either ....

Looks like they are hardly consistent wit the warranty thing. I just saw a post from another guy who had exactly the same problem. Sent it to Telus and they declined claiming it was a physical damage not covered by warranty. I guess insurance works separately from the standard warranty. To be on the safe side, however, I just remembered I sometimes connect my i747 to an LED TV using a micro-USB to HDMI adapter. The adapter can be bought cheaply online and lets you use your TV or PC with HDMI as an image screen for your phone.

If I am not mistaken, you should be able to use the fastboot commands using ADB to flash things. He or she will need to have the packages he or she is needed to flash the 'fastboot' folder. He or she will also need the packages in order to do fastboot as well.
