Cajl and Karenax !
Seems like the performance difference between the 1GHz and the 1.2GHz is about the same as between the 1.2GHz and the 1.5GHz
is it possible to just oveclock the 1ghz version? instead of paying more for a 1.2 or 1.5 version?

Probably, yes... with root and a little work on the kernel. Main reason you pay more for the 1.2GHz version is it has double the storage.

Not only storage... Even if it's 4430, which has not really been confirmed, kernel source code shows that 1.2 socs have different ids (probably certified by Texas to run at this speed) and also that Archos have specific radiators for them.

Yes well ,in this case we will still probably be able to Overclock the cpu... and get it up to 1.2GHz... the Gen8 could be overclocked to 1.2GHz... am I wrong in assuming this? (Haven't looked at the kernel yet since my device is not here yet and I wouldn't be able to test my work.
If only we knew when the 1.5 turbo edition was going to come out.

Of course, if all the theoreticals turn out to be true, and you bought the 1.5 GHz you could overclock that too and probably get to a much higher number...
I would like to buy Archos 101 G9 Turbo 16GB, but how do I tell if the 1.2GHz or 1.5GHz?
1.2GHz and 1.5GHz are on the box packaging alone 'TURBO'.
Many thanks...
I don't know beforehand but once you have the tablet you can run Quadrant : https://market.android.com/details?id=com.aurorasoftworks.quadrant.ui.standard&hl=en to see the clock speed.

They will start coming with 1GB RAM later on (end of Feb?, not sure of actual date), but I believe that any 1.5GHz devices that are currently available have 512MB of RAM.

My box says "Turbo version: ultra fast dual-core processor" on the top-right corner. I'm not sure if all of the 1.5GHz models say that, but mine does.

Hi ABC Universal,
can you tell us how did you reach this score ???
The difference is so big...!!??
Looks like you're based on a chinese version as I see some chinese in the status bar.
Thx.
Really impressive!!!
How is it possible?

Sent from my MOTO Defy
It is genuine output from quadrant running on defy. But yes there is no miracle performance boost.
Actually it demonstrated a limitation of defy's (and many others') CPU and a problem of quadrant benchmark. There is a detailed Chinese article explaning it but I understand only a little. Essentially, with some settings in android 2.2 system, defy (and many others) will fail the H264 decoding test, but quadrant takes it as completed in mini second, and thus the exceptional high cpu mark.
It was originated by some low end Chinese android phones which surprised people with exceptional quadrant benchmark. It turned out they had these settings enabled by default (/system/build.prop):
media.stagefright.enable-player=true
media.stagefright.enable-meta=true
media.stagefright.enable-scan=true
media.stagefright.enable-http=true
So this simply means the guys over at Aurora need to update their software to read the fail and drop the score to where it should be in reference to high end phones.
Does it mean that the Nexus and Evo 2.2+ scores are also wrong for the same reason?

According to the discussions, these two models enabled the settings by default. But I don't have them to examine myself.
That's explains why you install the sense rom, you obtain amazing Quadrant scores...
But really? no better performance? i thing this processor can do more than now...
not fake, i can do that too http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=976015

hohoho, i go to try this....
EDIT.: For me, 1750 1Ghz 57vel
I've got 1231 @ 1000 mhz/53 vsel and 1303 @ 1100 mhz/55 vsel.
What benchmark app is this?
Whooooaaa!!! I don't believe it....!! Look awesome!
Down the line if the Defy can stay at average/consistant score around 1300 to 1500 should be more than enough running the daily apps/games available in the market.
Hit it more will eventually fried the poor Defy... huhuhu..!
mine got [email protected] on cm7 beta6, so you don't need to "cheat" to get a score that high out of the defy
this is my best score:
2617 on my defy with cm7 beta 6, cpu set to 1200 mhz and 80 vsel
but I think that there is something wrong: I usually get about 2200 (1950 with 1000 mhz, 1700 with 800 mhz), but every 5-6 tests i get similar score

That means that middle range device (One S) would be faster than HTC's flagship?
Until the two devices are put side by side, all of this is just silly speculation really.
I mean, don't get me wrong, it's not impossible that they've dropped the ball but I'll be very shocked if
A) The S out performs the X
B) The XL is much, if any, faster than the X
i'm not sure ... but maybe the current benchmarks are simply not optimized for quad core processors. at least it is the only reason i could imagine ... why else should a dual core SoC perform better with the same GHz?

Amd fx 6core vs intel 4core i7 anyone? intel beats the amd cpu in terms of instructions per cycle
Send from my HTC HD 2
benchs are the easiest way to fool people, no wide margins here, they trade blows, T3 winds in true multitasking, 720p coverage and GPU, if we look at Antutu test T3 wins by large margins
Velloma is a test made by Qualcomm (Snapdragon makers) that doesn't scale linear across multi-core https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quicinc.vellamo&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5xdWljaW5jLnZlbGxhbW8iXQ..
Qualcomm says that's because Antutu's tests scale linearly with the number of cores - in other words, it's using multiple cores too well, from Qualcomm's perspective. That means a quad-core processor has a huge advantage over a dual-core processor, even a very fast one, on that specific test.

guys Anandtech already posted benchmarks of both devices, the S is carrying the dual s4 minus LTE, T3 and s4 are trading blows, these processors are almost equal, however keep in mind T3 has to do with native resolution in some tests, which is 77% more pixels, its clear T3 is doing better and more suited for the 720p display

I believe Anandtech and PC Mag better than some random internet OMFG!
Come up guys there is a great thread where we have discussed all these. Please take some time to read it.
Hi and sorry for the random abrupt question without searching much.
I'm in Thailand for a few more hours and I've seen a grey import Taiwanese Zenfone 2 with the 1.8 ghz processor but with 4GB of RAM. Is this possible? I thought only the 2.3 ghz model came with 4GB of RAM.
The shop owner is adamant it has 4GB RAM and even opened the sealed box, let me install CPU-Z and that shows Z3560 CPU at 1.8 ghz but also total RAM of 3908 MB.
App manager also shows 1.8 GB of RAM used and 1.8 GB free.
Is this possible? I really don't care about the slower processor but the 4GB dual channel RAM is the thing I'm after.
Any replies ASAP need to buy it in a few hours before my flight back to Kenya where there won't be an Asus or 4GB phone in sight!

My advice is to buy it now, if the price is reasonable. Though not officially popular, it seems Asus has made quite a lot of ZE551ML Zenfone 2 models with varying specs, so it's not surprising they have a Taiwanese version of that particular model.
Just make sure that the firmware shows either TW or WW and you'll be set, since we only know only CN firmware exists on the 1.8/4GB model.

Chinese model
All Taiwanese ZF2 4GB have Z3580 (2.3GHz) CPU. There are no 1.8GHz/4GB versions in Taiwan. If you see such config then it's CN(Chinese) or whatever version, but not TW.
Here is table of *all* ZF2 versions for Taiwan market:

It must be a WW version. Full model is ZE551ML-6J199WW. Loving it so far.
Only annoyance is there is a notification for Battery Draining Apps - is there a way to exclude apps from this? It keeps showing Google app and Bluetooth Share as battery draining even when phone is asleep but this is quite normal when using Google Now and bluetooth streaming to a speaker.
I bought that phone here in Germany from a Chinese seller, and I'm fine with the Intel 560.
Also because of my battery consumption:good:
Looking forward for a big community

The 808 and 810 were "bad" cpus from Qualcomm as they both had major issues with overheating and were mostly stock arm design (A57/A53). While the 650 is also a stock design the big cores are now A72 and that should come with some performance gain. It is worth noting the that 650 is 28nm HPm but the 808 was 20nm HPm and that should give the 808 a edge for power use but that could be canceled out by core design.
Please note that the links below are about a combination of of core design and fabrication process. In the case of 808 -> 650 you get a better core but a less ideal fabrication.

Probably had older software - or pre-release version of the phone.
Even mine scores 135k ....
Which runs on latest rom 8.2.23 china stable
Mine running on 7.5.16 beta global rom scored 176k antutu score, and that was with a few notifications coming through on messenger at the time interrupting the benchmark.
In real world game play I get some weird "sticking" in Minecraft PE. When you're mining stuff and then go to move there is a split second of lag and it jumps. I'm not sure if this is a GPU optimization issue or whether its the Mi6.. My Google pixel does not do this - its liquid smooth.
Other graphics intensive games like Pixel Gun, Asphalt 8, etc work smooth and seamless.. Zero issues
Interesting that CPU X app indicates the max speed of the SD835 on my MI6 is only 1.9ghz..??? Shouldn't it be 2.45Ghz?

I got 170k+ with antutu and I did have weird 120k antutu while the phone is overheating. So it's safe to say the test where they got 130k antutu is when the phone is overheating.
But by no mean Mi 6 is slow or use lower/underpowered memory/chip. It's fast all the time to me. Faster than all older chip powering phones I had.
On 7.5.16 global beta I was getting 178k+ antutu scores. after the update to 7.6.1 and a fresh wipe, around 171k now. Agreed its not a slow phone! doing well. Now all they need to do is fix the screen touch-move tolerance so that games are playable
Cpu x only giving info about 4 little cores big cores are clocked at 2.45 and little cores 1.9
