Ive done some searching and found others searching for the same but I canont seem to find anything.
I'm looking for something that will indicate the current strength of the signal in percentage of the network im connected to, maybe even with the SSID
Ideally a little today plugin/icon that simple says netgear: 80% or something like that.
Its my understanding that the app "batterstatus" does this but its far too complicated for me and besides I cant seem to find a percentage representation only a db one
Voice vs. 3G Data Signal ( bar ) : Are these separted in any status bar mods?
Is it possible?
I've never seen one that separates them, however AOSP roms will always show the 3g strength instead of voice strength.

Well that is good to know. And explains the discrep I notice when driving, would like to see these broken out somehow though
Hey,
When making calls you are only using 1x and that is many times what your signal strength is, "Except as noted above by Sitlet ASOP which use the bars as 3g". When you are using data on lets say a sense rom you know its going through because you see the 3g on your status bar going. Now there are apps out there which allow you to see the signal strength in decibels and that would be the best way to determine your actual signal strength via 3g 1x 4g etc, but to answer your question I have never seen any mods that do this for you!
Hope I helped if I did please hit the thanks!
Stevo
I'm hoping this is not a bug, but there have been times when I try to fire-up a web-based app, like streaming music, that I can't get even a 3G connection yet I have multiple signal strength bars. The 3G icon is gone even if I turn Mobile Network off then back on. I don't think I had this problem with my EVO 4G using 3G. Is it just because it can't pick up on a 3G signal even though I have 3-5 bars?
The Network Mode is currently set to CDMA/LTE/EVDO even though we probably won't have 4G in Columbus until the end of next year. I kind of miss my WiMax 4G. Now that I think of it, I changed it to CDMA only. Maybe that will help.

The "signal bars" have nothing to do with your 3G connection...they only indicate voice call signal strength.
To check 3G signal strength go into your dialer...
Enter ##DEBUG#
Code: 777468
Debug Menu:
Select EVDO Eng RF
Pwr= Signal Strength
Better than -96dBm is a great signal
Between -97dBm and -107dBm is good
Between -108dBm and -114dBm is fair
Worse than -115dBm is poor

yerp yerp...I'm smitten
You may have a connection problem with your GN2. I had some similar problem. I would taken it in to Sprint and see what they can do. Maybe it's tower upgrades in your area....
Happens to me sometimes too. Just a garbage tower. I have emailed the network guys to open a ticket and they got pissed I emailed them directly. It's a tower issue and no mine is not getting upgraded for a while.

Is there an app out there that would display the 3g or 2g signal strength on the status bar.
It frustrates me i can even search but have full voice service, at least with the signal strength indicator i would understand

I use this one...Open Signal ...it has a widget that will show signal strength also.
On my old RAZR M (and I think my previous Samsungs) I was able to go into the settings menu (SETTINGS>ABOUT>NETWORK) and was able to see 1G signal strength in dbm as well as 4G (simultaneously).
I know it sounds like something stupid, but I always use this information because I install professional cell phone boosters, and it helps to check both signals (1G for voice and 4G for data. Most of the boosters I install only affect the 1G/Voice portion).
Does anyone know of an app that can show this?
I've seen screen shot where people seem to have this.. but I just got my OP7T (used the OP migration too to move from OP6), and I do not have any "bars" in my status bar to indicate cell signal strength.
Tmobile, USA.
I *can* add the upload/download speed to the status bar... but again, normally you have the 1-5 bars of cell reception strength.
I can't find anything wiich clearly says there were purposely removed.
I'm on build 10.0.7.HD65AA
thanks!
Mike
EDIT: I can add my own bars thru an app like LTE Discovery.. but again, I thought this was part of the stock OS?
EDIT2: ok, solved.. Status bar.. Icon manager... Cellular data.
