Hello all,
I'm just a beginner who is starting to get his head around things after reading a lot on this forum.
I have rooted my HTC Desire a few days ago following the video tutorial on the development section of the forum on all its steps. I then flashed RevolutionN 3D 1.5 ROM which i think is great after trying a couple that weren't so fast and smooth.
Before flashing the Revolution ROM i formatted my 4GB SD card (which has 1GB ext4 partition), did a full factoy reset, cleared Dalvik cache. However i'm finding myself with as little as 40MB of internal storage available which i have filled up very quickly.
What am i doing wrong?
I thought i was going to have plenty more of space, that's why i rooted the phone in the first place.
Can someone would be so kind to help with this please?
Thanks in advance
To have the phone rooted so that we can flash a custom ROM.
To have more data space, we have to s-off the phone and then flash a new hboot such as CM7R2 or Data++ and so on.
Never try that ROM but I notice that there are two kinds, one is for data++ (for CM7R2, Data++ hboot) and a2sd+ for stock hboot like what you have now.
Do you flash the right a2sd+ ROM ?
I have just checked and i flashed the Data++ ROM....
thanks for pointing that out...i didn't realize it was so simple
im going to flash the new A2SD+ and let you know
Thanks
After flashing the a2sd+ i have more than 100MB of space
thanks for your help!!
Hopefully 100MB is enough for you.. For some people even 1 GB aint enough!
Hello I have also problem with the low space. Think that all desire users have... I have the stock rom, version 2.3 and unroot the rom. I had 140mb space. I installed lot of apps and moved all the apps to sd card. But even you move the app to sd card, the phone memory always used and now my phone memory is very low. What are the alternatives to get more space. Is it possible to move the apps to sd card for 100%
Search for A2SD+ and DATA2SD.

Only with DATA2SD. Otherwise your app data will remain on internal memory decreasing it over time.

I flashed some HD Roms (Pay's ROM, RCSMixHD, The Z Rom etc) one by one, and each one of them claimed A2SD+ or Data2ext. Also they had fastboot shown in the intro video.
1) In any of those 3 ROMs, I didn't get more than 110MB internal storage, which I had got in StarBurst ROM (not HD) = 1.25GB. Now only 110MB? Now where did my ext partition go? [still a noob at android modding! help!]
2) Is it something like it doesn't "show" it as internal memory, but works all right?
3) What do I need to do in order to get data2ext/A2SD+ working? I followed all instructions correctly, incl partitioning etc.
4) Also none of them gave me a fast boot (like it was shown in one of the videos under RCSMixHD ROM), will I ever get it?
Thanks in adv. Need help. Meanwhile m with 105MB internal memory (which would end in 2-3 days )
Your A2SD+ problem does not exist, the internal memory will show the same as always but it won't decreas as fast. Just try it with angry birds or some other big app. Also don't move them to the sd via manage applications, they need to be on the phone. If you want more info on how A2SD+ really works there are plenty of threads explaining that or this.
And fastboot is hibernation and it should be in the power off menu.

Hmm, about the first thing, I tried it, and yeah so it doesn't "show" it as internal memory, though works all right.
Help! Whenever I use Hibernate, my phone doesn't boot up next. Just stays on htc logo if I hibernate it! Do I need a reflash?
A2SD is stupid and I don't get it either. I just flashed another Hboot image to increase my data partition. Also, I don't want my SD card doing much working and using useless space.
@GoogleJelly
You made it already clear that you are a big fan of S-off and alternativ hboots, but for people who like the sense rom or people are not comfortable S-offing changing hboot is not a option. For them A2SD is a good solution and I can't see how you can be bothered by it.

This. Plus a2sd+ is far more convenient than s-off and offers far more space. What if memory card wears out after a while? Even if it was as fast process as it seems you think it is, it is not like they cost a fortune.
data2ext is better than a2sd+ is definitely better than changing your hboot image just to install more apps. Or brick your device in the process
Sorry mate, but that is just plain ridiculous.

i use the D2EXT version of RCSMix HD rom and it shows that i have 961mb of internel memory... don't know why the A2SD don't show that.
It's not good stressing out your SD Card. Especially when you have Data2SD since it puts more than just apps on your SD Card. Yeh SD cards don't cost that much but when you buying one more often that you need because your SD card has become messed up because of the constant usage it's getting, I am sure it isn't the best thing in the world. I also see more problems that people have with A2SD and Data2SD and I actually wonder if it is worth it at all.
Hi everyone i rooted my phone last night for the first time with LeeDroid, all that seemeed to happen was that it went back to the way i got the phone in the first place
I dont have Market, and if im honest i have no idea what to do
Can anyone help at all please ?
Thanks
Phil
Would i be better just downloading the 2.4 rom and trying that ?
How will i know that the ROM is installed correctly as like i said before it just seems like a new phone i got straight out the box ?
thanks
When you flashed the ROM did you do a full wipe? and Dalvik Cache too?

Honest answer , dont know
i think i rooted it correctly using Revoked, or it appeared like it did
in the software info on the phone it has this which to me means nothing but to someone it will
android 2.2
kernel version
2.6.32.15_leedroid_2.3 [email protected] # 1
software number
LeeDroid_V2.3d
Can you help ? thanks
That is a successful flash mate by the looks of it. Of course you lose all apps and settings after flash, and as far as I know leedroid is a sense Rom, so it looks very similar to what you got out of the box, but now you can mod it and flash different kernels and scripts, like data2ext.
Oh, and regarding market, just search for market apk and install it the way you'd install any app.

LeeDroid looks and feels like a stock rom but with added extra bits, and speed.
you can overclock or underclock with setcpu run rooted apps.
the good thing about LeeDroid is that it looks familiar so it's a good starter rom to play about with. if you want something other than sense try a Miui rom or Redux.
Ive got 2.4 now but i have 2 issues
1. the market force closes when i select an app
2. when adding the htc people widget it lists no people in where they usually
Thanks
Now my SD card is saying Mounted Read only ?
any ideas ?
did you make an ext partition and a full wipe?
I don 't have any issues with this rom
Yes and i just tried to go back to delete and redo a new partition but its not showing only my pc is ???
i just reset it and now im getting the leedroid background i wasnt getting before , ive had to setup everything back from the beginning , facebook passwords etc
market is now working but im still getting the mounted read ony error
Either corrupt card or bad partitioning. Just partition it in recovery and search for ext align tool on Baadnewz blog. Google is your friend.
If partitioning doesn't help, try different card.

ok sorted that last issue but how will i know if ive partitioned the sd card correctly ?
ive got a 16gb one and it says total space 13.75 & available space 13.47gb
and on the internal it only says 129mb
why is this ?
What was the fix for the last issue? If you don't provide full info we won't know where it could have fine wrong.
Sent from InsertCoin 2.0.1
tinky i partitioned it as you said in recovery but then i couldnt get past the loading screen with the joker on it aftwerwards
So i went back into recovery and i had to do a restore that was the only way i got it working and the memory card issue also vanished
Now its working properly should i backup my current ROM in ROM manager ?
what else do i need to do to make sure i dont **** it up in future ?
Also how will i know if ive partitioned the sd card correctly ?
ive got a 16gb one and it says total space 13.75 & available space 13.46gb
and on the internal it only says 116mb
How much space you assigned to ext? Also, not all roms support ext4, so if you did use align tool, then quite possibly that your Rom just can't see ext partition. Solution, partition again but this time don't use align tool which will convert any ext partition to ext4.
Regarding not loading after partitioning that is sort of expected, restore done the trick for you. Regarding not getting into this situation again, once you get it right just use recovery to do nandroid and ext backup, and keep it safely on pc, in case you need to change SD card. Then you just partition new card and do restore.

Brilliant , thanks Tinky
Did it work?

Anyone having issues on the latest Leedroid 2.4 with apps that have been updgraded from in-app billing?
Have one app (quota) which is now disabled due to the fact that the upgrade is now in progress whereas it worked fine on 2.3d.
The app dev suspects it is ROM and market related as other stock ROM users haven't had the same issue.
Good day all,
I'm running into a problem with my htc Desire where the phone internal memory is getting very low
I have the alarm "Low on Space" warning!!!
I noticed that this issue happened after flashing my phone with different ROMs
to select which one is better for me.
Right now, I'm running a custom ROM which is the LeeDroid V2.3
All my downloaded Apps and games are moved to sdCard using App2SD
My remaining phone internal memory is only 13.76 MB
Any help or hint to solve my problem!!!!
Thanks in advanced.
You might want to investigate 'Data2Ext/Data2SD/Data ++' ROMs - all which leave you with far more free internal memory.
These ROMS can be slightly slower (exception of Data ++) than the one you are running. I was running the same ROM you are now and the only reason I moved to another was the constant low memory.
You can use data2sd on leedroid. See siberes thread. It's not slower than stock.when properly installed,it may even be faster.
Swyped with my Starburst based Desire. Forgive any typos!
Try using CyanogenMod7 with the AlphaRev CM7 tables... I now have loads of internal space and I'm able to move most things to the SDcard!

You're not moving these yourself are you? As if you are you're defeating the point of A2SD+ in the custom ROM!
the AlphaRev CM7 tables has only 5m cache.
its bad ?
i think the Bravo Sense is the more versatile
your going to remove some of your apps.
its the only way

Droidzone is correct, Sibere's data2sd script is awesome an stable as i am running AuraxTSense with Sibere's data2sd installed and i have 75+ apps installed and i still have 675mb of free space. Check out Droidzone's thread for the download links or check out Sibere's thread. All you need is a class 4 SD and a EXT4 partition.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916417
The above link is Droidzone's thread for his StarBurst ROM you can find all the info you need on there.
hi all, plz take it steady!
iv a htc desire, iv used revoke in the past and had a custom rom installed which i was happy with. recently i had a problem, to cut the story short i wiped the memory card of all its contents, including any backups.
the phone itself is always telling me its low on memory altho i dont have alot installed at all.
i have leedriod 3.0 installed at the moment but yet again, i get low space warnings and what is on the phone is on the memory card using app2sd.
basically i just want the memory back to its max available and the standard rom reinstalled, but where do i get it from, iv looked on the thread and i was unsure which one to download.
baseband is 32.48.00.32u 5.11.05.14
i dont believe i have a backup of the original
any help and steps would be gratefull

If you say you don't have a lot installed, then are you sure app2sd is working? Also before flashing Leedroid did you do a full wipe of your phone?
hi thanx for the reply, yes im sure app2 sd is working, any app i have installed is on the sd card yet available space on the phone itself is14.88 mb.
as for the question regarding did i do a full wipe before leedriod was installed...i dont really know if i did a full wipe or not. i just need some help to get as much space as possible back and the standard rom reinstalled if thats possible
You need a ext partition on the sd card to get the "real" a2sd working. If you don't want to make one flash a noa2sd rom.

as u can tell im lost with this lol, sorry

This should help.
Had my Desire for nearly a year and I cannot remember the number of ROM's I've tried! CyanogenMod 7 is still a favourite, as is Runnymede 4.0.1 however for pure speed and great battey life an AOSP GB ROM like Oxygen can't be beaten. I'm currently using MildWild 2.2.2 ICS themed Oxygen based ROM with one small addition - Data2SD.
Using a Stock HTC or Ginger Bread ROM usually leaves you with about 124mb of internal memory regardless of the size of SD card you have. Trust me; once you've installed about 20 normal Apps (Google Maps, a few games etc) you'll get the message 'Internal Memory Low'.
A great dev by the name of sibere came up with a great script for the desire - Dat2SD. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=852219
This moves the internal storage to the SD card allowing for up to 2GB of internal storage!!!
So on my Desire currently I have 140 Apps including ROM included Apps like Calendar, Calculator, Radio, etc and 3rd Party Apps like Fifa 12 & GTA III. Total Storage space is 1.97GB and Free space is 1.64GB! SD card Total Space is 12.98GB with available space 10.12GB. The SD card space is for things like music, pictures and USB storage and downloads.
Installation and setup is quite straight forward with most ROM's - AOSP and Sense based ROM's can both handle Data2SD. And as far as performance - hardly and lags or FC's on any ROM's I've tried.
Thanks to Sibere for all his work.
If it wasn't for this great data2sd are desire would be nothing. I used a couple data2sd methods and I find the one works best if you have cm7/r2 Hboot this keeps dalvik cache on really nand. In dew section we have another great dev working on another way and if it all works out we will be seeing some great sense 3.0 plus roms.

It's true tho just think If you had to put up with 150mb data. You would be for ever uninstalling apps for free space.

Data2sd is great and packed in Droidzone's great rom is idiotproof, but there are other methods. Check my sig. I have more apps than I definitely need and I don't plan on running out of space anytime soon.

lol You getting mixed up I mean has a hole. Data2sd/data2ext Am using xd2sdx by amarullz witch is the best I have used to date. Sibere is also great. I didn't mead just one persons data2sd was best.
First off: sorry if this is a stupid question, but how do I find out, which class my sdcard has?
Secondly: Do I need to repartition my sdcard for all of these scripts or are there some that just work with a folder of some sort?
Actually I don't need much more space, as long as I can work with a ROM that fits in data++ ... and I managed to get ICS working with that now
Thank you!

On SD card you will see a number 4,6,10 if they is no number its a class 2. For partition you will need to read the Rom thread and see what they require, most is a FAT32 with ext4.
They is a couple different types of data2sd if you click the desire index link in my sig and scroll down to section (how to get more storage) you'll see what's on offer.
Thank you.
I guess it's slow card then. I don't really want to repartition my sdcard, because then I have to move everything to my pc ... aso ... aso. and I try to keep my phone clean anyway. With switching back and forth between Oxygen and ICS/sandvold it's anyway useless having to reinstall many apps...
