Ok guys, I know I searched but using the app didn't bring any results... anyways is it possible to get the epic on cricket? I posted a similar topic on another forum and someone said it wasn't possible due to my area. Now I'm going to go on a limb here and call bull. Since when does it matter what area you are in for a phone to work? Cricket uses sprint, and this is a sprint service area, so no worries there. And its not an AWS serviced area either. So again, no worries there. So how can I get this guy on Cricket? Reason I want to go Cricket instead of Boost for example, is because I want to avoid ESN swapping if at all possible. Any one have any suggestions here? Thanks guys!

There is a full walk through on here to flash to cricket/metro pcs with working mms as well. Have seen it in the epic forums, just not 100% sure where lol.

Just Google it. XDA forums show up in Google.
I dont see why not.

Hey, I'm thinking about getting a Droid Incredible. I know it's gonna be a lot of work but how should I go about unlocking it to work on sprint. That's assuming sprint will accept the phone and let me activate it..
I've heard of it being used on Cricket, never Sprint. Not sure man, good luck though.
thanks, I'm probably going to need it. Better start looking into cricket lol
Or metro pcs, the only way to get sprint to work is if you have someone on the inside that can activate phones

hmm. Too bad I'm too young to work for them, maybe I can go there on an internship and make some friends
Can you just change the esn to a sprint esn? And then change 68992737495 settings and yay?

I would like to know if anyone flashed their epic touch to another carrier if so which one? How is the coverage/service and does your 4g still work
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
yes it is possible,it could be with boost or metro from what I know of,boost uses sprint cdma towers so its basically the same coverage as 3g that you would get from a sprint device, and no 4g does not work yet as of yet once you flash that was something I was trying to get help with, check my sig I started a thread there about the subject
I flashed mine to Alltel it runs on Verizon and I am always roaming do u think it has to do with the fact it runs on Verizon my prl is 31011 but my 4g does work
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
There is no way u get 4G on Verizon unless u installed a lte radio in ur phone.... because it has wimax and Verizon uses lte for 4G
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
I have no reason to lie it still works no bull****
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
But it was still working when I had the phone flashed odd enough though the phone wasn't on? Well I couldn't text or call but could surf the web and connect to 4g and surf while I'm on it
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
My phone is flashed to Cricket. I don't have any good Cricket PRLs for my area, so coverage is horrible and my battery took a serious hit thanks to that. You'll never have 4G. My 3G speeds are completely abysmal.
Everything still works, though, barring 4G.
My native sprint hot spot app works also

Very simple. It's been confirmed on another forum however, I have flashed my old Epic Touch to Cricket and it works like this...
Let me explain what I did. Lost phone, got my new one... A month later, found it. Flashed it myself to Cricket. However, I still have Sprint service for my replacement phone.
I sold the flashed phone, that person can use my 4G still. Because you can not flash the 4G wimax antenna or do anything with it for that matter, ( except disabled it with the toggle ) the 4G antenna can still receive signal from an active Sprint account. Only thing that is effected is the cdma portion of the flash including the PRL thus, 3G and talk/text is on Cricket's network (or who's ever network flashed to) however, the wimax antenna can still receive signal only if the Sprint account in which the phone came from is still active.
Problem solved. Anything else, I call BS. Consider yourself lucky whoever you got the phone from still has Sprint active. As soon as the line is disconnected, so will your 4G. Unless that person is you lol. I'm sure you bought the phone off craigslist, it was probably an insurance claim or the person switched to another 4G phone and wanted to make up cost.
On the other hand, the 3G antenna in the Epic Touch does not play well with Cricket's towers. Ive tried so many PRLs, it's not even funny. You will need to pull the PRL from an Acsend 2 or Mercury to get it working correctly and that's just my assumption.

Naw the person I got the phone from has a $450 unpaid phone bill on the account that's why I got it flashed. But like I said wen I got it I couldnt make/receive calls or text but the data worked. The phone is technically off for unpaid bills I figure the data would just work until the end of the billing cycle matter of fact I think he took his number to Verizon and just didn't pay sprint off either way I don't care. Only thing now is does flashing a rom affect your flash I mean like using Odin because doesn't it install sprint radios and what not I haven't rooted yet because I didn't kno
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
What Ben's said sounds right. That 4G won't be sticking around.
And no, ROM flashing does not affect it. I've flashed several ROMs since going to Cricket. However, if you ever decide to change your phone number, you'll have problems.
If he did port his number over to VZW, then the account would be for sure canceled and 4G would stop working. I've been in this exact position but its been me on both ends of the deal. He probably told you what his plan was but ended up keeping Sprint. That's the only way your 4G is working.

So what's a good rom since I'm new to the E4gt I was looking for an Aosp rom stock Android can't find one though so whats a good rom

Couldn't really tell you that; you'd have to try each one for yourself. I personally prefer Blazer, but Calkulin's has also been wonderful for me.
I have mine "flashed" to Platinumtel prepaid. I pay 10 cents a MB, 5 cents per min & 2 cents per text. It uses Sprint's towers so all calls, texts, web (3 g only) work exactly as it would on Sprint. Most of my usage is at home so my bill will be under $20 a month. I use grooveip for free calls over wifi from my google voice #. This setup worls for me as I do most of my calling amd downloading at home over wifi. I don't care about 4G as I'm not watching movies when I'm out. I leave my house to experience the outside world at large! BTW you can get Clear 4G service activated on ANY wimax capable device by changing some IP settings. It's not free of course. You can pay just for a day if you like though. Bang it!

Hello, I have Sprints version of the Galaxy s2 and would like to totally switch plans/service to Virgin Mobile...I have seen online elsewhere that this is possible but no direct directions on how? I would prefer Virgin but Metro PCS or Cricket would also do if they would function properly with the phone. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
There have been quite a few threads around here regarding flashing over to metro, but I haven't seen anything about virgin. Do a search for metro flashing and like I said youll find a few different threads.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA Premium App
Its only possible by rewritting esn as virgin is owned by sprint and each virgin esn is scanned in their system
Sent from a White Galaxy
i tried running search on flashing metro but the only useful info i got was for using another phone model...anywhere i can find model specific flashing info for the SPH-D710? the only experience i have with flashing is taking my old galaxy from froyo to gingerbread using odin...guessing i would need an actual guide if one exists? thanks for your help!

You sure can. I have the exact same phone on Platinumtel prwpaid which also runs on the Sprint network. Just rewrite the ESN as stated above...

I have a sgs2 and cdma workshop on my desk top...what do i need to do to get it to work with virgin mobile?
I know ive seen some post about it. As for the esn I know for the Epic 4g if I remember right I think you needed an old virgin mobile phone for the esn
I know iv seen some saying the sgs2 disnt need a "donor" phone..but i heard sonething about changing something for the 3g to work i just dont see video or info how to get the esn to virgin...i have cdma workshop but not sure what to do with it..lol
There's a guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1404270
(I hope it still works)
I have a quick question: is it possible to flash BACK to sprint after flashing to virgin mobile? This is with an epic 4g touch that had a clean esn.

Yes, it should just be a matter of reversing the process you used to flash/pgm your device to VM... Assuming you did retain all of the relevant data from your original setup...

Does anyone know if you need to flash the virgin mobile version of android 4.1.2 onto a sprint epic 4g touch in order to use Virgin mobile or can you just use any of the sprint roms and just swap the info out from a virgin donor phone.
thanks
Gentlemen, I would caution you on discussing the changing of ESNs here in XDA. As I'm sure you know, flashing this way is now illegal and talking about piracy and the like in the threads is frowned upon by the mods. Just trying to help. Good luck!

Google Flashing Samsung Epic to Alternat Carriers. I believe you need a donor phone from that carrier.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Who are you looking to go to? Just curious.
I thought I read some where that this phone can use cricket...
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA
mine even flashed to a carrier outside US called Smart-Telecom, sometime can be buggy, but as long as you flashed correctly everything should be working.
I know I've seen posts from people who have flashed their epic to work on Boost or Cricket.

Our epic's use CDMA technology, theoretically, they could be reprogrammed to work on any CDMA Carrier given that the following is done.
#1 The Carrier allows adding ESNs to their database, thus you'll get working talk and text.
(You'll have to manually know the rest of the programming to each carrier and input the missing values. Not to mention some companies make it even tougher by hardcoding things into the framework-res)
#2 The carrier does NOT allow adding of ESNs to which you'll then need to drop more bills, buy a donor phone that you can read its values from, and port that to your epic.
It is not a guarantee that all CDMA carriers will work with 100% things functioning correctly, thus not all carriers go through the trouble of doing OTA programming to phones that aren't natively theirs. Although some do at least give you the needed programming settings, you may get lucky and find guides that other people have wrote up that are tedious, but good to follow. Cutting you the hours of work it took to write the guides, just so you can follow it with everything working in like 30 mins of your own time.

Yes, it can be used on other networks. Mine is on Verizon Wireless. It's not the easiest process.

Oh, I couldn't tell you. I've only done it once. I had issues with 3g but went away once I flashed to GB rom.
Question is there anyway to get rid of the Sprint stuff so it won't keep complaining to update on stockish roms?
No there shouldn't be any diffrent steps as long as you have the donor phone you should be good.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
I got a D710 with bad esn, and use it on cricket. Stock roms suck, I rarely find an mms fix that works on most, and can't get voice mail notifications. AOSP is better, I get voicemail out the box, but nothing seemed to work on MMS. I'm not a pro, but have flashed my share of devices. Using a doaner phone means esn change, that is an iffy subject. Change it to use on another carrier? Why, when you could do the same thing and keep it on Sprint? Not legal either way. Bad esn means failed to pay the bill or was claimed lost/stolen. Either way, changing the esn to use it is considered fraud. The phone belongs to the carrier. No one would hunt you done for it, but you should know about it. Soon all the black listed cdma devices will be in one database, and just flashing a device won't be a way to use it. "Cleaning up" an esn or part it out will be all the devices with bad esns will be good for.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Ya I have bought bad ESN phones just to flash them to cricket which is relatively heard other providers can be a lot harder but never tried. And cricket will pretty much allow anything on there network.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
May want to check also with the parties you're donating to. Many of them may not need to activate it - in which case ESN doesn't really matter. Bad ESNs can be flashed to other carriers, but Sprint may take some talks to get that working - and assuming they're nice enough to do it.
Well there's flashing and esn changing. Flashing is not touching the esn and taking it to another Sprint MNVO and just activating it either legitimately (some are byod) or just changing some settings on your end and then activating it on said mnvo carrier. Then there's changing the esn. If there are carriers that only allow their devices, then youd have to go this route which is a bit complicated and not for the average user. This involves obtaining a donor phone (one that the carrier sells) and taking the esn and a bunch of other settings from that phone and plugging it into the phone you want to use. Ive done this successfully with an epic touch 4g on Platinumtel and Virgin Mobile. It's been working perfectly for the last 9 months. It is completely legal. Where it becomes illegal and fraudulent is if you clone someone elses phone and do not pay the bill (read this for more info although it's still a gray area http://www.hackerscatalog.com/Services/TECH_Notes/one.html) So yes, you can do a lot with a phone with a bad esn if you know what you're doing or pay someone who does. Keep in mind it would be easier to take a sprint phone to virgin mobile or verizon phone to page plus, etc. A lot of the settings will stay the same and cdma carriers use different frequencies for data and you might end up with 1x for data. If you need a how to guide, I could post a link. Let me know.
