Is there a way i can make one of the custom roms more Verizon freindly? i would like a way to get a voicemail notification and have the verizon tabs in my market. I currently use Fresh rom which im loving but for the obvious reason there is no verizon stuff.
This is the Evo forum for sprint. Check your local phone forums for a rom.
This is a rom request for a EVO

you want verizon go to verizon like UrbanMuppet said
Im on Verizon, Using a EVO, THIS IS A EVO SECTION NOT A SPRINT SECTION
I think what's being said is, you can't just flash a different ROM for different carriers. The Evo can't be used with Verizon because they won't activate a phone they didn't sell. So your request is nonsensical.
EDIT: You say you're on VZW. Theoretically that's possible, but how did you manage it? Regardless, virtually everybody else is on Sprint, including the devs, so there's no means to develop a ROM for another carrier, and there's certainly no incentive.

O.K. The HTC EVO is an exclusive SPRINT PHONE. Far as we all know the EVO couldn't be activated on WHORIZON!
Who says they won't activate an evo on verizon? It depends on who you know or are. I can't count how many times I have seen a tmobile employee with a jail broken iphone.
Verizon do an ESN swap anytime they want, and if not you can use cdma toolkit to change your esn.

Using an iPhone on TMo is a totally different game. That's GSM which goes off the SIM card. Yes, you could get Verizon to activate an EVO, but they have to agree to do it. Usually they won't, based on what most people have reported from direct experience.
How i have a Evo on Verizon is totally irrelevant to the topic, im simply asking if a few Verizon things could be tossed into a custom rom. Im sure they can but i haven't a clue on how

Oh, well now you've GOT to tell us.
But my original point remains: Nobody else has their Evo on VZW, as far as I'm aware, so nobody has a way to develop the ROM.

id like to know how you managed to get it on the big red
My buddy has done esn swaps on multiple phones, so I'm sure it's possible (he used to use verizon phones on sprint network), but like everyone said, since it's pretty uncommon, and there's no way to develop and test for vz roms, you're going to have a hard time finding what you're looking for.

Isn't there a way I could take the .apk's that set up voicemail and market from my incredible and install them on my evo or put them in a Rom ?

Why would you need a rom for that? Find some verizon android apk's, and try to install them directly on the phone with one of the numerous file managers out there

Ok guys, I know I searched but using the app didn't bring any results... anyways is it possible to get the epic on cricket? I posted a similar topic on another forum and someone said it wasn't possible due to my area. Now I'm going to go on a limb here and call bull. Since when does it matter what area you are in for a phone to work? Cricket uses sprint, and this is a sprint service area, so no worries there. And its not an AWS serviced area either. So again, no worries there. So how can I get this guy on Cricket? Reason I want to go Cricket instead of Boost for example, is because I want to avoid ESN swapping if at all possible. Any one have any suggestions here? Thanks guys!

There is a full walk through on here to flash to cricket/metro pcs with working mms as well. Have seen it in the epic forums, just not 100% sure where lol.

Just Google it. XDA forums show up in Google.
I dont see why not.

My brother in law has let me hold his droid incredible 2 for the past 2 weeks so I could root it and what not. Well he didnt tell me or ask me if it would work but he reported this phone lost or stolen and got a brand new one so he could give me this one. So the esn us bad. I was wondering if there is a way to manually flash this to pageplus? I know it can be done through cricket but there coverage is really spotty in my area. If I was to go with cricket, would there be a way to use a Verizon prl?

whether or not it was of your doing, discussing or advocating in any way fraud is not acceptable
there are guides for flashing to other carriers, but imo its a now stolen device and shouldnt be used for anything
We won't allow any discussion of fraud or ways to circumvent it.
Ok my friend wants my phone when I upgrade, but he has sprint can I trade the phone over to sprint or its not gonna work?

Sprint is CDMA so it seems like a possibility. I've only ever heard of people flashing their phones from Verizon to cricKet or boost mobile but if you can find a way to flash it to sprint then that is probably the key. I know this isn't the most productive post in the world but I wanted to keep the hope alive haha
Like mentioned above, due to it being CDMA, it definitely seems possible. I however don't have any experience with this one so until someone else comments, google may be your best friend =P
Quick question im trying to buy a few phones to donate around have a couple already but im getting mixed responses from people so here it is if a phone had a bad esn can it be used on diffrent carriers or is a no go all the way around?

Yes, it can be used on other networks. Mine is on Verizon Wireless. It's not the easiest process.
I flash phones all the time was just wanting to know if there would be any additional steps id have to take?

Oh, I couldn't tell you. I've only done it once. I had issues with 3g but went away once I flashed to GB rom.
Question is there anyway to get rid of the Sprint stuff so it won't keep complaining to update on stockish roms?
No there shouldn't be any diffrent steps as long as you have the donor phone you should be good.

I got a D710 with bad esn, and use it on cricket. Stock roms suck, I rarely find an mms fix that works on most, and can't get voice mail notifications. AOSP is better, I get voicemail out the box, but nothing seemed to work on MMS. I'm not a pro, but have flashed my share of devices. Using a doaner phone means esn change, that is an iffy subject. Change it to use on another carrier? Why, when you could do the same thing and keep it on Sprint? Not legal either way. Bad esn means failed to pay the bill or was claimed lost/stolen. Either way, changing the esn to use it is considered fraud. The phone belongs to the carrier. No one would hunt you done for it, but you should know about it. Soon all the black listed cdma devices will be in one database, and just flashing a device won't be a way to use it. "Cleaning up" an esn or part it out will be all the devices with bad esns will be good for.

Ya I have bought bad ESN phones just to flash them to cricket which is relatively heard other providers can be a lot harder but never tried. And cricket will pretty much allow anything on there network.

May want to check also with the parties you're donating to. Many of them may not need to activate it - in which case ESN doesn't really matter. Bad ESNs can be flashed to other carriers, but Sprint may take some talks to get that working - and assuming they're nice enough to do it.
Well there's flashing and esn changing. Flashing is not touching the esn and taking it to another Sprint MNVO and just activating it either legitimately (some are byod) or just changing some settings on your end and then activating it on said mnvo carrier. Then there's changing the esn. If there are carriers that only allow their devices, then youd have to go this route which is a bit complicated and not for the average user. This involves obtaining a donor phone (one that the carrier sells) and taking the esn and a bunch of other settings from that phone and plugging it into the phone you want to use. Ive done this successfully with an epic touch 4g on Platinumtel and Virgin Mobile. It's been working perfectly for the last 9 months. It is completely legal. Where it becomes illegal and fraudulent is if you clone someone elses phone and do not pay the bill (read this for more info although it's still a gray area http://www.hackerscatalog.com/Services/TECH_Notes/one.html) So yes, you can do a lot with a phone with a bad esn if you know what you're doing or pay someone who does. Keep in mind it would be easier to take a sprint phone to virgin mobile or verizon phone to page plus, etc. A lot of the settings will stay the same and cdma carriers use different frequencies for data and you might end up with 1x for data. If you need a how to guide, I could post a link. Let me know.
