are the batteries interchangable between devices? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

are the batteries all interchangable between the r800i r800x etc? I have an r800x and I'm looking for a 3600 mah battery but I don't want to get one if it's not compatible. I don't want a janky one either.
you guys have any suggestions, and also the question above. thanks!

good battery life,performance and experimental
Well, with custom kernel there's battery drain atm
Rest you mentioned is possible with it

Yeah, well I think you can get an Arc S for the same price as the Arc atm, and i only got mine recently and am loving it! It's quick, reliable, thin and sexy etc ( Not future proof with no dual core processor which is going to be fully optimized by Icecream Sandwich-which SE said will be released to SE 2011 phones around start of 2012 if im correct. But apart from that it's amazing especially for the value. Worth every penny so far!

I live in the UK and am looking on the net for a cheap xperia play, can i buy a phone from the US e bay and be able to use it as a phone over here with my sim card?
Also not sure on Bricking a phone Gingerbreak, flashing or rooting, anyone care to explain to a noob?
The US Ebay will most likely have the R800x and R800at. The x is for use only on CDMA carriers, which I've been told don't exist in the UK. The at is AT&T's sim-locked device, which I'm not totally sure whether it can be used in the UK or not. I'm guessing not. I believe the version you're going to want to find is called the R800i. Make sure you look specifically for that, so you don't get a phone that won't work on your carrier.
You might be able to find the right one on ebay, but you do indeed need the R800i. You could try look on ebay.co.uk, or even ebay.fr (french) or ebay.de (german). Just make sure you get the R800i.
Thank you both for your quick replies, i have noticed the WIKI details on this site and you are right enough, thanks especialy for the international ebays, nevere gave that a thought. Now just to read up about root, flash, brick and gingerbreak to find out what all the fuss is about as i am still a noob.

Try somewhere like CeX. Their phones are usually pretty cheap.

What us the proper way to condition the extended battery

Got a seido 3800 I only get like 12 hours out of it was expecting ALOT more what are other people getting my gn is stock unrooted.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Give it a couple of charge cycles before reserving judgement. How long did you get with stock battery? Maybe app related? Is your phone actually entering deep sleep? Modded roms are often much better when it comes to battery.

there is no such thing as conditioning a lithium ion battery. there is no memory effect, nor any real calibration, nor does wiping battery stats do anything as most users think there is.
wikipedia : lithium ion batteries

About to buy an ion...

Just wondering few things this device will be for a 12 years old kid that is addicted to social media and blablabla... Will this device be good to ditch his ipod ? Hes not really a gamer and how is battery life on this phone ?
Where is battery thread so i can get an idea...
Any known issue I should be aware of ? Thanks..
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Locked bootloader. Battery life is fine if you set up an app like juice defender I can get two days. Would be much better for social media then an iPod because of Timescape which if I'm not mistaken encompasses Twitter facebook and some other social media items in one place. I've dropped the phone multiple times from different heights with just a body case from rock the quicksand edition and it's fine. Cleans up easy from smudges on the screen easily enough. Also has a micro sd slot if he wants lots of pics games music apps and so on
Sent from my LT28at using xda app-developers app
well definitely a very important issue for me, or maybe that exists in every android device: if it runs out of memory, it has a very big chance closing the app you are CURRENTLY using/navigating. i mean seriously wtf.. another huge issue is the drop calls, which happens randomly, so another seriously wtf.. i think i will go to a sony store and ask for an exchange and then see what happens..
for social media, i think windows phone can handle it in a more reliable way, but ion integrate more stuff in its apps
Odd I never drop calls and with a 16gb sd card I wont run out of space either lol

Could someone link me to battery thread please ? Couldn't find it and yeah for 150USD cannot ask more out of this phone it is going to be some good fun anyone knows if the Rogers version can be unlocked to work whit videotron ?? Searched a bit couldn't find an answer..

I have been very pleased with my Ion. I would recommend you pick up a unlocked LT28i if you can swing it. But even if it is a locked version you can run the newest H firmware that I have found is very stable. As for social stuff I think its one of the best out there. Its the only device I know off that has Facebook built into the firmware (well except for its siblings). Battery has been very acceptable in my opinion. I on average get a full day or more before a recharge and even with very heavy use you can still get 8 or so out of it. If I don't use it much it will go more than 2 days. I don't know that we ever had a battery thread as its not really a issue.
You may want to call whomever you buy the phone through att sometimes gives unlock codes for Sims for their models. As for a battery thread there really isn't One but more of a collective bunch of threads helping people with battery issues. I made a quick guide on the ion general to help save battery but to give you a rough estimate I went 20 hours with medium use and only hit 30%.

Ion or not to Ion...

As lots of you have seen, the lt28at is really cheap on Amazon and eBay (around $250 unlocked) and I'm thinking about buying one as a replacement for my aging HTC Desire.
What do those of you with one think? Is there another phone in that price range that's better? Are you happy with it? It seems the best phone in that price range.
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
Im happy with my ion(got it on ebay), good screen, good perfotmance, decent camera. Got a few issues with it though: my camera lens got scratched to the point i couldnt take pics, so i had to do a fix( I used my N95 lens as replacement, works great now), no unlockable bootloader means fewer custom roms. Other than that id say its a good bargain.

Well,Sony Malaysia sell Xperia ion for RM1890 (divide it by 3 to get US price)
Sent from my LT28h using xda premium
before buying the ion, i really expect this to do much more and much better compare to my previous x10. However, i was so disappointed..
if you want a phone that takes good pictures (good clarity and color), don't take ion;
if you want a phone with good wifi, don't take ion;
if you don't want a phone to randomly shut down the apps you are using without noticing, don't take ion
all of the above essential points to me are not presented in x10, so i am very not happy about the ion
i recommend you just wait for ion's jelly bean review. its ics build is definitely one of the worst if not the worst comparing to samsung/htc/LG's except for the look

choosing ion
I got my Ion on on ebay for $200.00 it's locked to AT&T so i can't use any custom roms, but i am waiting for the JB update hopefully by end of March and or April. What i did do to make my Ion more snappy is of course root it, install CWM, V6 supercharger to decrease lag, use a deodex L28H rom. I do use my S3 as my primary phone for work, but i just love Sony's look when it comes to the phone design. The Ion is a good not great phone but you just need to "tweak" it a little with mods for now to make run a little better, XDA is a great place to check to do just that!
PS. waiting for the ZL that will be my next Sony Xperia!:good:

I've been using an LT28at initially on AT&T then on T-Mobile for a total of 3 months. I previously used an X10 and a Nexus One.
In the U.S., the largest factor for me to have an SIM unlocked ION was its radio. AWS HSPA and LTE bands are covered. Granted LT28at's bootloader is locked and you can't try custom roms or custom kernels. But if you compare the ION with X10, Nexus One or HTC Desire, processing speed alone should feel a big improvement. Sure I love X10 (I still have one) and I personally think X10's push buttons are still better than ION's touch panel buttons. But ION is pretty good, and you won't be disappointed if you switch from HTC Desire.
It looks like I might get the lt28at. I know the bootloader is locked with little hope of that changing, but is it possible to load custom ROMs with the stock kernel?

Okay one last question. Is it possible to get into fastboot on the 28at version? I was reading the bootloader unlock thread and some people were saying that the 28at won't go to fast boot which keeps you from loading cwm. Is that true?

You can load cwm without any problems. I believe it is another mode( dont recall what its called right now) which the 28at cant go to which is necessary for bootloader unlocking( i tried). There is a guide o how to install cwm on the ion. You can also flash the generic 28h or i firmwares on the 28at without any issues.
