updated voicemail app, and now I can't get my msg's on my phone. Does Anybody know how to fix this?
HTC Mobile 4G
Also re-installed the old voicemail app. and still no luck.
Don't know if this will help, But I had a similar problem a couple months ago. Try going into the voice mail app and compose a new msg to: [email protected] and make a blank recording for at least 5 seconds. then send it. it should re-activate your voice mail.
just recently found this post. will give this try.

Whenever I start my Xda Orbit, it alerts me that I have 1 voice mail. I don't know where this is coming from, but it is really bugging me. I checked the mailbox and there were no messages. Even after a hard reset and taking out my sim card, it still tells me that I have one voice mail. I haven't seen anyone with that problem but I hope someone can help me fix this problem.
Thanks!
Voicemail
Hi, what network are you with?
I have a XDA Orbit on Vodafone, and I got this Voicemail Icon.
I removed it by setting up voicmail, and connecting.
I also have this problem i have a voicemail icon but can not get rid of it. i have got voicemail turned on and this does not get rid of it when you call voicemail.
I have also tried leaving a voicemail so that there is one to erase and it still will not go when i remove the viicemail.
Any ideas will be much apreciated as this is bugging me to.
I am on o2
i'm with o2 in germany. i walked into a o2 store today and the guy there didn't know what was wrong either. I'm supposed to call the service hotline and tell them to transfer me to the data hotline. I'll post if the problem get fixed.
My Visual VoiceMail has stopped working all together. I am currently running BakedSnack 1.5 with the included kernal. If have to periodically check my voicemail by phone because there is no notification when someone leaves a voicemail. When I access VVM I don't get any errors and I haven;t found a way to refresh it or to have it try to go out and grab voicemails that are sitting there.
Anyone have any ideas? I tried updating my PRL and that didn't do anything for me.
Discovered I was having the same issue today. Spent twenty minutes on the phone with Sprint and the resolution was to compose a message in the VM app to [email protected]. My messages started rolling in about a minute later.
So far this fix has not worked for me. I'll wait a bit and see what happens. The message I composed is still showing as undelivered.

Ok. I just recently picked up my EVO and am already experiencing problems.
I've been on the phone with Sprint for about 6 hours all together and no one can pinpoint my issue...
The problem is the visual voicemail will not retrieve messages. I just recently was able to dial 1 and login into my voicemail.
The only way to have visual voicemail retrieve my messages is if I:
go to visual voicemail
go to compose
send a message to activate my voicemail (can't provide links)
go to settings--->applications----->voicemail
clear data
home
go back to the visual voicemail app.... and wait.
After waiting a few minutes, the app eventually retrieves all the voicemails that were sent.....
But I've had the Moment, Hero, and now EVO.... and the with the Moment and Hero I never had to go through a loophole like this.
Are there any fixes for this? Or at least is this a known issue? Before people reply with a "search forums"... trust me I have. The only way I knew about the loophole was by searching. All the other sites I've been to never had a fix, just a complaint thread.
Also, I'd rather not download Visual Voicemail or Google Voicemail. I paid retail price and would like the device to work... Ya know?
Thanks in advance!
What Rom are you using? Just asking?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I'm not on any rooted ROM. Just stock 2.2.
Hi all,
Hopefully someone can help me as I am completely stumped.
Three days ago I flashed an sense ROM and all was well until I noticed people saying you didn't get my voicemail? So pressed 1 and called my VM only to find I had 7 voicemail that I was never notified about. I didn't get a task bar notification, app notification and they didn't show in the VVM app.
I have done the following, battery pull, update prl, update profile, sent activation message to [email protected], says it there is a delay in setting up your voicemail and you message will be sent as soon as this step is complete. I have also tried restoring a nandroid when VVM was working and nothing works.
Im lost and it sux not knowing if I have a VM, any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
JP
identical situation here, did you ever find a solution? anyone else have this experience? if so, howdya fix it?
bump this...having the same issue.
uninstalled vvm and re-installed latest apk, app generated it's own activation message, but send failed, still no notifications, this sucks...
This was happening to me as well, until I remembered that I had set up a block with Sprint to block 9016 txt msgs from coming through. Check with Sprint customer service or logon to Sprint's site and check the My Devices & Media tab and see if you have any restrictions on the line.
Apparently, Sprint's VVM program needs those text messages to tell it when it's provisioned, when it has messages to download, and when to get rid of the icon at the top.
Nah, this isn't the aosp text issue, it's different, but thanks for the input.
So I took my phone to sprint today, and after an hour and a half working w/ 3 different tech depts, a couple supposed vvm resets (or refreshes), and a full reset of the phone and still no fix, they decide to give me a new phone. Set up the new one (003 w/ 3.29 otb) and no dice, 3 hours, a new phone, and still have the same problem I walked in with. I've uninstalled and re-installed latest apk as well as an older one. What seems to be the problem is the "activation message" is not sending. Sprint says it's a known issue and there will be a software fix soon - my experience w/ Sprint is 6 mo. is "soon" for an update or fix. Anybody know a fix for this?

holyrolla's right check to make sure you don't have it blocked. if you added it before it wouldn't block it. but now for some reason it blocks it. I had the same problem as the op took me a week trying to figure it out. then I remembered I blocked 9016 when I had cm6. unblocked it and within a few hours my voicemail activation was able to be sent.
also compose a message in the vvm app and send it to someone in your contacts, this should get the server talking with your phone if your activation message still won't send

This worked! I blocked and unblocked 9016 text in August on Heroc. Four days before Thanksgiving on Evo for 2.5 weeks w/ vvm working fine...and all of a sudden no vvm. After I replied to this post earlier, I decided to check it out anyway and there it was. Unblocked 9016 and vvm works fine.
Thank you Holyrolla!
Unfortunately each time I try to post this question, I'm getting the following error - even though there are no links. The details of my problem, therefore, may be spread across several comments in this thread as I attempt to include them all.

I flashed SyndicateRom Frozen 1.2 yesterday, and am LOVING it so far! Besides a known bug with the missed call info displayed on the glass lock screen, I have only one problem with my phone right now.
While getting all my apps reinstalled & set back up, I decided on a whim to install Google Voice. During the install wizard apparently it took over my phone. I thought I'd cancelled out in time, but when sending a text msg this morning a friend told me it was showing up w/ my GV number. I removed GV, and through their website I deactivated their voicemail.
So now when I text, it shows my correct number. I'm making & receiving calls ok. But when an incoming call goes to voicemail, the Visual Voicemail app never notifies me of a voicemail, and instead I get a weird text msg like this:
(to be continued)
Wow, 5 minute posting limit imposed too. this is fun!
/ / ANDROID : < caller's phone # > has sent you a Sprint Voice Message. Call 408 - 970 - 0000 to listen. MMSN,15ec6a1b4,1fc6,V69A / tC1Nqr / / CM
(spaces added to foil the system from thinking I'm posting a URL)
(to be continued)
(hopefully I can get the rest in this time)
That last part after the MMSN changes each time.
I'm able to press/hold 1 to access my voicemail, but when I go into the VM app, there's nothing there.
I tried restoring from TitaniumBackup - that brought a couple of my old voicemails back, but still nothing new, and I still get the text messages.
I tried sending a voicemail to activate @ vvm.sprint.com through the voicemail app - that results in a return text message saying:
/ / ANDROID : * @ vvm . coremobility . com has sent you a Sprint Voice Message... yada yada yada
I've also seen texts like this:
/ / ANDROID : Provisioning successful CFGv320c.0=07cbKhXuKph / / CM
I also tried installing a 5.1.0.52 apk (can't locate the URL I eventually tracked down at the moment).
Still nothing.
I just spent an hour on a support chat w/ Sprint. We tried *38, *720; rebooting more times than I can count, and now I'm at the point where he's reset "something" and it's supposedly going to start working for me in the next hour. Call me a skeptic.
Is it something on Google's end? Sprint's? My phone? Has anybody else worked through this before? I just want my vm app to work like it always has.
TIA!
I once again found the URL where I downloaded the 5.1.0.52 apk:
https://upgradeserver.coremobility.com/prod/sprint/2.1/5.1.0.52/vtt-sprint.apk
(and woohoo, looks like I can post URLs now)
Any ideas on this?
Using Titanium I uninstalled voicemail, rebooted, reinstalled, and am still getting the text messages.
Would reflashing be an option? I hate to do it since I finally have everything set up just the way I like - but I need to get this fixed.

Is this the right forum to be asking for help?

I don't think the issue has to do with google voice. I am having the same issue with SFR 1.2 and I never installed GV. I have tried clearing data, I have tried to reactivate my VVM, I have tried restoring a titanium backup as well.
Everything in VVM seems to work, but it never receives messages.
If you find a fix, post it here so those of us having the issue can get it working too.
EDIT: I figured out my issue was actually with Handcent. The VVM application requires messages to be passed from the stock SMS application to DL VVM messages. If you have handcent and are using 3.9.5 go into settings>default applications> and check "disabled" and your VVM will start working again. Hope this helps someone other than me.

Interesting... I've always used Handcent (since my Hero days). I vaguely remember setting it to "All (SMS & MMS)". I changed it back to "Disable" and will see what happens. So far none of the voicemails on the system are downloading (when I dial in it tells me there are 9 new messages). I don't have a landline to leave a test message, so it'll be a while before I can get somebody to call me to test.
Thanks for the past - it would be great if that's all it takes to fix it! After changing this setting, you're no longer getting those strange text messages either?
I can't remeber where it is, but on google.com/voice ,log into your account, there is a setting that can be changed, also a # to dial, I wish I could remeber, its #?? To disable google voice, but that's probably not your problem, I bet its a setting on gvoice website...

It was *38 to disable.
It looks like changing that setting in Handcent referenced above has corrected the problem - I have voicemail working again w/o those annoying text messages! Thanks for your help!
Handcent setting IS the problem!!!

YOU ARE MY HERO!!! This problem has been driving me insane for five days. Handcent 3.9.7 was the culprit on my Samsung Epic 4G as well. After reading your post, went to Settings --> Application Settings --> Default Messaging application and switched to "Disable", now Voice Mail icon shows up no problem.
Thank you so much for posting this fix!

I've been having this problem since the GB update on my Evo Shift. This solution works!
