For some reason everytime my phone is plugged in it will click random things that I do not touch. I go to send a message and the phone can't do that because I cannot type effectively. When I try to unlock the phone it does random patters of trying to unlock but just doesn't work.
Can anyone help? It's randomly clicking everything when I try to text while it's charging.
Are you using the charger your E4GT came with? I purchased an aftermarket charger to charge my device at work & it did that. Made the touchscreen completely unusable while charging.

I am using the stock charger that it came with and it's causing the problem..
Hmm. Strange. Try charging via computer usb. If it still does it, I would check the cable.

Works fine with the cable plugged into my laptop but it charges to slow for me to keep it in there..
Crazy question: what kind of Bluetooth headset do you have?
I had this problem with the Samsung HM6450 with their app installed and running. Every time I'd hang up from a phone call I'd hear that weird clicking sound with the phone plugged in. If I unplugged it the clicking either went away entirely or was reduced until I rebooted the phone which would reset it entirely. But it was only with the headset on and I believe with the app running.
I can confirm this happening. A customer switched twice and each of the devices acted weird.
Another rep reported the same thing but only when charging.
I've never seen it on mine until we used the stock charger as I used the one from my rant. How ever it did happen on the stock charger but rarely.
Had another customer bring it for service stating the same issue as well.
Had same issue until I started loading 2.3.6 roms ek02. The one that came with phone glitches while charging.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
So is there anyway I can fix this problem without getting a replacement?
I had the same issue! I switched to the Rogue Stock EK02 kernel and somehow that stopped it. Try using different kernels, that may solve your issue.

I just think some of the stock chargers are just not properly grounded causing issues with the screen sensors. I used the same cord and use an old htc charger and the problem went away. Tried charging with the samsung charger and got the same problems again with the screen being unresponsive and almost to the point where I can't use the phone at all.
Its the stock charger. Issues been known and reported since the release of the phone. Use a 3rd party charger and youll be fine.
mine did it with the stock Samsung charged head. Switched it with my old palm pre one and it works fine now

Thanks everybody!
Can anyone recommend a charger? Thanks!

I've had my nexus since November and its been working fine. I upgraded to 4.0.2 about 2 weeks ago when it was pushed to my phone.
Last night, my phone ran down the battery, even while in airplane mode. I've found that it keeps waking itself and it thinks its being charged. The battery icon has the charge icon on now, even though its not plugged in.
Anyone else had this problem? I've tried power off and re-seating the battery, but still the same problem.
Unlock, root, then flash custom rom, can almost guarantee it will fix your problem

Had the same problem couple days ago. Plugging and then unplugging from the charger fixed the icon.
Mabey the new update added the "self charging" feature.. It's defiantly the future but I think it's still in beta testing... Luckily you were one of the few that got the feature! Hehe...

i had this problem this morning. Screen kept coming on and showing the chargin icon over the battery and on the lock screen and kept waking the device!
I plugged the charger in and out a few times and that seemed to stop it for a few hours. Since then i have flashed the latest build of AOKP and havent had the issue yet... I'll wait and see if it returns now i've said that!
That does sound similar. I plugged in my charger at work and it worked OK for a while, but the problem has returned
You are having this problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21840063#post21840063
.. and you are not alone.
It's a hardware problem, and you should RMA your phone or change the USB charging board.
I had the same problem, and temporarilly fixed it several times with unplugging rapidly, half-way insterted plug, toothpick to pick on the USB pinns.. It sometimes worked, but after a while it was permanently broken. I fixed it by changing the USB charging board.. this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150713366355
I had this same issue on the Galaxy S 2. Simple replacement there. Should be same here

I'm having a similar problem with my Galaxy Nexus. The problem comes and goes. Sometimes the problem persists for a few days and then goes away for some time.
My experience:
The phone sometimes thinks it's charging when it's not.
Sometimes it thinks I'm janking the charger out and plugging it in non-stop. (the screen lights up a second after I turn it off. And this can go on for hours).
Either way, I can't charge it.
Things I've noticed:
When plugging it in to a computer it sometimes recognices it as a USB device and the phone also recognices that it had been plugged in, but it wont charge.
Plugging the charger in and out rapidly many times sometimes cause it to start charging for real.
The built-in charging-icon and the 3rd party icon from "Battery indicator" (by Darshan Computing, LCC) don't alway show that it's charging at the same time (could be a problem in the 3rd party app, or a problem in the system).
Rebooting the phone may sometimes cause the battery percentage to show a different value than before reboot.
I've been having this problem since I got the phone. Neither updates nor factory resets has made a difference.
I haven't tried rooting it and installing a custom ROM, and I wont, since I will get a repair/replacement on the warranty.
Either send it in for repair or get a small knife, put it in the charger port under the pin and very gently push down so it moves the pin by a fraction of a mm. This worked for me and was caused by a cheap charging dock from eBay, I fixed and replicated the problem so I know this to be true

So I finally upgraded to ff18 and I loved it for a while. 7 hours to be exact. I am using Phantoms Blazer rom.
I keep getting the "Charging paused. Voltage too high." error.
I have cleaned the USB port with electronics cleaner and a toothbrush, though this doesn't matter since I replaced it.
I have replaced the USB port! This error happened just after the ICS update and hadn't been plugged in. I've tried stock ICS and a few other roms and still get the problem. It'll work fine for a while, then the error shows back up.
I am using stock charger for both home and car.
Battery calibration app was used. seemed to work for a bit, then it came back.
I originally thought the problem was hardware based because even while off, the phone detects it's charging, but once I flash a new rom it doesn't do this for a few hours even while off. So it HAS TO BE SOFTWARE.
Also, once this starts happening after a new flash, I'll shut down and take the battery out. When re-inserted into the phone, without touching ANY buttons. It boots up automatically.
Is there a software update? Anything that can fix this?
Any rom I can try, though blazers is the best looking in my opinion?
Hate to put my tin-foil hat on, but WTF?!!!
My wife's Epic Touch 4g did this also. It's a hardware problem. Started on EL29 after using a Sprint branded charger (the one that's a universal home/car charger with 2 ports). You could pull the battery and hold down the power button for 30sec and put it back in and the phone still thought it was connected to a charger. It thinks there is a usb cable plugged in.

Did you go back to el29 and test it?

While I still think this is a problem with the actual USB port, it does seem that flashing to an ICS from GB really pulls out this issue. In GB, you won't get the "Charging paused, voltage too high" message, it is something else..
Perhaps the code used in ICS for handling the USB port is more aggressive and causes the older style USB ports to fail faster/easier...
Either way, once I received this message, the port was not good for much any longer. There are ways to work thru it, but it just keeps getting worse.
If you have sprint insurance you can take it in and they will just replace it..

Yeah i second this. Happened to me too. I have first hands knowledge on this. They replaced the phone for me. (with insurance)
I started running into this as well and thought it was software also.
I reverted back to stock and i still the problem.
Went into sprint on Monday, they gave me a new battery and charger try out. I woke up this morning (Saturday) to peeps and high voltage warnings.
I am tendingto agree that this looks like a usb issue and will have to go back in.

We have been seeing ALOT of this recently at my store.
It does appear to be hardware related, but the causes are sketchy. About 50% of the time I'll find corrosion on the board near the area of the charging port. The other half, the board and port are immaculate.
It does appear that the software is bringing out the issue, but that obscures things even more.
The closest example I can think of that compares to this is the original Gingerbread update for the LG Optimus. Besides numerous issues including charging problems, there was an issue in which the phone constantly thought there was no SD card inserted (even when the SD card was verified good and not damaged). Generally, a software rollback was the solution. But, on numerous occasions, the software actually caused permanent damage to the SD port, so much so that even rolled-back to 2.2 it wouldn't work. And the number of times that happened in our store were too great to simply attribute it to actual faulty SD ports.
It could be there are minor defects that are being exacerbated by FF18, that wouldn't normally cause an issue otherwise. (Sounds a lot like the NAND super brick huh?)

Hey guys,
I just upgraded to a Note II from a Captivate. I've had it for about month completely stock, in the last I'd say 3 days I've been having this really frustrating problem. Whenever I go to charge the phone, it will charge for only a second or two and stop. Sometimes it will go back and from charge, stop, charge stop. But also when this happens the phone freezes up. If I have low battery, every time it stops charging that window pops up stating low battery, but I can never close the window because the phone is frozen. The back and menu haptic buttons will not work as well, the only option is to use the physical home key. I have to restart it several times to get it to charge, and make sure the screen turns off since sometimes it won't.
Has anyone else had any trouble like this? Any advice would be great. Thank you!
Factory reset
This sounds like a physical defect to me, the note 1 was plagued with it. Have you tried wiggling the cord in the slot?
Now that I reread your post I would be taking that device into where you bought it and have them document the issue. Since your stock this is an easy process and having it documented at the local retailer will (according to att customer service) increase your chance of getting a new device over a refurb.

I tried a Factory Reset, I plugged the phone in right after and didn't have any problem so I thought okay maybe that did it. Went through the rest of my day without trying again. Now, trying again before bed only to find that when I plug it in now, it charges for a second, stops, then brings up the notification that the dock has been attached. I'll be taking it back to At&t tomorrow and will report my findings. Thanks for the help thus far.

Was having a similar problem with mine. Okay usually when I would charge it it would stop and then restart. Additionally, I noticed that I could not connect to any computer or USB on the go devices as it would not recognize them. In the end I went with my Samsung phone to the service center near me and they repaired a defective module for the USB port on the spot. Now it works like brand-new.
Honestly this sounds like a bad cable. A dirty in port in the phone. Or a wet connection. Try using rubbing alcohol and qtips or smaller cleaners. Give it a couple minutes to evaporate when done. If that doesn't fix it your phone has internal issues. Stock. Triangle away. Ask for a replacement. Will be fulfilled. Especially if problem is provable.

I apologize for the delayed reply. I waited for the phone to do its charging fit at home before taking it to AT&T....twice...I went to two separate stores because both are so close to me, and BOTH times the phone did not do it while charging in their store. I told them I have been using the Samsung charging cable and block, along with some other from different android phones, and all were giving the either stop / start charge with freeze, or the stop/start charge, "dock is connected," freeze. They told me it must be a bad block, and that the other chargers I am using aren't providing enough amps, hence why the phone gets crazy. I just thought to myself, you've got to be kidding me. So I went back, stopped using the block I got with the phone, I found my girlfriends usb power adapters from one of her old Apple devices (...I know right..) and used that along with the Samsung cable. So far, I haven't had a problem with it. I also tried my neighbor's charger from her S3, and that worked fine when I tried it. The phone does still do the described problem when it's plugged into other chargers, even my car charger. I might try cleaning the port itself as suggested and see if that does anything. Also was suggested by the AT&T rep to get a charger that's "high amp," so I'll give that a try as well. It just doesn't seem normal to have to go through all of that trouble though, I don't think Samsung would make their phone not be compatible with other micro usb charger devices?

Hey XDA, what's good? OK so my wife's note 2 was stolen and we received what I am guessing is a refurbished one from our wireless insurance provider. The first day we got it I noticed the popup (battery disconnected) when I plugged in the charger. Now it's been about a week and the phone only charges when I play with it by pulling out the battery, putting it back in, and turning it on (a few times usually). Otherwise, sometimes it will just hang on the battery screen and the charging animation freezes and then, up pops the dreaded yellow triangle with a battery in it. So, I have been begging her to just let me root and flash a different rom/kernel combo, but she wants/likes it stock , (which is nbd, could flash the stock tw Rom), and the company who supplied the phone to our insurance provider wants us to ship it back so they can either replace, or fix the phone. Funny thing is, Sprint techs wanted nothing to do with it! We dropped it off as they asked and not even 20 min later they called and said come get it we can't fix it!? So, here is my dilemma, could this b a software issue? Or is flashing a Rom not a possible fix? I've tried other usb cords and checked the usb port, battery/phone terminals, and tried gently moving the usb plug around to see if it was the issue, as I've had Samsungs in the past with similar problems. Any help would be awesome! Thanx, from one Android junkie to another.

Experiencing some frustration with the fast charging option. I attach the charger, and no notification pops up saying "Fast Charger Connected"... but in Power Savings settings it says Charging USBicon1.png with the fast charging box checked but showing grey.
Used the same charger and cord in the same outlet earlier in the day and the fast charger works without problem. Been tracking this issue for two days and cannot figure out the variables creating the problem.
Tried different fast charger, different cables, different ports, cleaned out the port with alcohol and qtips....
Anyone else suffering the same problem?
Any insights that might lead to a solution?
Are you sure that the phone is seeing that it's being charged by AC and not USB? It may sound like a stupid question but my Note 4 recently suddenly started charging as if I'm connected to USB rather than AC, even though I'm using the same fast charger that came with my phone, and it does this about 40-50% of the time. I think it has to do with the cable I'm using, the one that came with the phone so it's 14 months old, but I'm not positive. It could be the port on the phone, which is the reason I'm mentioning it since you said you tried different cables, fast chargers, etc. I haven't noticed whether it happens when charging in the car since I don't do that much. This happened with one of my older phones also after I'd had it for a year or more, not sure if it was the S3 or Evo 3D, and back then I think it happened with any cable or charger I tried.
When this happens, I need to unplug the cable and plug it back in, sometimes it takes 4 or 5 times to get it to show as AC with fast charging.

I'm experiencing the same symptoms on two different Sprint Galaxy Note 4. At this point i'm pretty sure that is a software issue since now it's two different phones. I have tried 4 different chargers (one that was not mine) and factory reset one of them. Not sure what self updating or background self updating app (if any) could cause this problem. This is frustrating, it's like sprint and samsung purposely push software to make the phone suck and for me to update..

I was experiencing this on both of my phones before the update on the 7th of Dec got pushed out..
I'm rooted, running a custom ROM called Hybrid X 3.0 which is still OG5. This problem suddenly started out of nowhere and I hadn't changed my ROM so that's why I figured it must be hardware. Now I don't know. Makes me wonder if they could've put a kind of self-destruct code in the software to force us to get new phones. The ROM I'm running is based off of stock Samsung software after all.
I wonder if it would happen on a Cyanogen based ROM. I don't use them because I rely on my S pen too much to use AOSP.
Edit: Is anyone else seeing that their phone shows its charging as USB? Just curious.

Still experiencing the same thing. At this point I don't know what or who I should blame.
I myself was having tons of freeze issues and random reboots after the update on my completely stock phone. Not seeing the charging problem but since installing clean master and cm anti virus, issues were found and have since stopped. I definitely think there is something wrong with the latest update and could just be affecting people in different ways. I would maybe try clean master or something similar and see if your phone could just be infected with something. Might just have something to do with the latest "security" update. It can't hurt to try it anyway.
