Is there any I can use evo with boost mobile. I know a lot of people question this, but please. Prepaid is the only way I can have a phone. Thanks
nope sorry
Have you tried going into a boost mobile store (authorized retailer only, not corporate) and asking them to activate the phone on their network? You will NOT be able to purchase one from a sprint store unactivated and bring it to boost. You will not have 4G service, if you do a lot of people are going to try this and it will get fixed, so dont tell anyone if you do (except me).
A boost authorized retailer would love to do this for you because then he can pocket the normal subsidy on the phone which would be sold to you. Call a few authorized retailers and ask them to do this they should know how and be very willing.
boost is owned by sprint they would not allow evo on boost network
The easiest way to get a sprint phone working on BOOST isn't by calling them its getting a BOOST CDMA phone and activating an account or switching your Iden account to the new CDMA phone. Once you have that done you need to have the MSL code for your SPRINT phone and just reprogram it using your MDN which is your BOOST cell# and the MSID thats given to you by BOOST when you activate your phone. Once thats done the phone resets itself and your done, I did this myself and have had my Touch Pro2 working great since Feb. As far as the EVO i want to get it too so it should be the same with the exception of 4G which isnt even available in certain areas like here in NYC yet anyway but everything would be workiing norally in 3G and being that SPRINT owns BOOST i sure they'll be getting 4G really soon. Motorola already has an Iden android phone for BOOST so newer phones and way better service should be comming along too. I had my phone with SPRINT and now that im using BOOST i have the same service with a way better plan and for much less. So if i have to pay BOOST an extra $10 when they get 4G then so be it and i'll have a better plan with the same service instead of paying SPRINT at least $100/month with taxes&fees. Only disadvantage BOOST has is they dont offer a equipment protection plan other than that its much more economical

One sold on ebay for ~USD$1200
The only way to do it I know of is to change the MEID to one Boost would except.

they sell on ebay for that much money? are you kidding me? anyone wanna buy my evo =D
9 or 10 months ago when they first came out. Now everyone has one.
lol a year later this one gets bumped up huh... So since it's been brought back let's ask this, anyone figured this out yet for the evo..?? That link is for metro not boost..
Flashed EVO on Boost
my Evo is flashed to boost but my phone keeps getting a Data call error 67 when i try to update my phones data profile and PRL my phone also send calls striaght to voice mail when my mobile data connection is enabled Does anyone know how to fix this?
I imagine it won't grab the update/prl since it wants to get it from Sprint, but you are running Boost. When you are using data, all calls will go to Voice Mail, since CDMA doesn't currently support voice/data simutaneously. You can try to uncheck DDTM mode, this will interrupt data and push the phone call through. It will disconnect your data connection and resume it after terminating the call, however if you were downloading or doing something else, it won't automatically resume the download.
Menu---> Settings---> Call---> DDT Mode (uncheck box).
My phone doesn't have full data connection my phone wont stay on the internet when i receive a call and when my wifi is on my 3g connection gets disabled how do i fix this? does anyone know how to fully flash the EVO to run off sprint 3g too?

So wait.
You are complaining about the phone doing EXACTLY WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO DO?
You did do at least SOME research before buying this particular phone, correct?
And what do you mean "flash the EVO to run off sprint 3G?"
That's what it does stock!

Actually thats not what the phones suppose to do cause i know there's a number of people that actually got their EVO's to act like a smart phone on boost and not disconnect their data when calling. Did you do your research? i was actually hoping that someone who knew how to fix the problem would respond rather than someone with just a mere comment that says nothing.

Not possible.
There exists no CDMA service in North America that allows simultaneous DATA and voice.
In theory if you had a good 3g connection and was doing VOIP it could look like you were doing both

yes he can, many have the evo on boost. do a google search my man, you will find what you require to make it happen.
I'm going f'n mad. How can my 3G be so slow with over half my bars lit up...
Accessing websites is slow, downloading is slow. I don't get it. I can barely break 30 KB/s. I'm ready to throw this POS in the trash, it's a waste of money paying for data and premium data at that when it's slower than snot.
Anyone experiencing the same? In OKC.
Yep, phone is a POS.....
Have you tried updating your PRL / PRI?
How about you give some details?
PRI?
PRL?
Hboot?
ROM?
Kernel?
Signal strength (in -dB)?
Do you get the same results on another ROM?
Do you get the same results in another area?
How much data have you used this billing period?
Same issue with me. Called Sprint tonight andsaid I was going to leave for t-mobile. Said I would sell evo for 300 on ebay to pay for cancellation. They covered next months bill (150) and an airave. I am now using the roaming hack (prl 31005) and if they kick me off then I will go to T-Mobile.

I just rooted using: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=838448
I used the first method presented, and now I am having this exact same problem! Never did before.
???????
r u runnin any ad free software or is it cooked in your rom, if it is download the ad free app from the market and just click revert, ( then uninstall if you like I did) then reboot, this puts your host file back to normal and internet will be fast again (if this is the prob)

Call them. It's the network. I'm days into it with an executive. Basically been field testing and reporting areas that suck. Contact sprint otherwise they'd never know
I haven't experienced any problems here. Love my rooted Evo!
At my home I get pathetic 3g speeds, maybe 100 kbps or so, but for whatever reason the 4g is stronger than anywhere else in the country I've been. Consistenly 8-9 Mbps. Is that common, an almost non-existent 3g connection but an awesome 4g connection? Needless to say I'm on 4g all the time at home.
I need help!! I have flashed myns Fls5 and the 4g connects but doesn't load web pages . It gets stuck all the time . I've downloaded adfree and have the updated radios. 3g works great . I've tried to search for this but no help so far thanks

Might be a long shot but do the 3G connection fix.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10781368#post10781368
Also I had this issue in NYC where it slowed to a crawl on 3G to the point where it wouldn't even load google.com
I flashed another ROM and everything was good but one thing I did notice was when I did a speed test using Speedtest it said the closest server was in the UK for all the tests I ran that day. I was pretty baffled by that.
So unless Sprint is routing all of their connections to the UK, they are just lagging. Try another ROM and if its the same deal and you have everything updated, call and flip out.
Do the 3g connection fix a couple posts up/back.
Check what rom you have. If you have a rom with adfree in it, then install it and uninstall the application from the market. Then reboot.
I'm actually getting better speeds now that I moved to a different rom. Weird, eh?
Myn's was giving me trouble with that because of adfree.

I've been having this problem for months now, while my friends evo doesnt have this problem, and none of the evos at the sprint store do. But mine does, along with many people here. Ive had the phone replaced 6 times, so obviously its not a hardware problem.
I have spent MANY MANY hours on the phone with sprint, and the executives have basically told me, unless 100 people or more have the same problem in the area, they wont send anyone out to check the network. Since apparantly I'm the only one in my area with this problem, they refuse to send anyone out.
Have you tried the profile reset, and changing the settings so you are no going through their proxy server

Yes, everything. I have done everything the techs on the phone and in the store can do. I have gotten 3 refurb evo's and 3 new ones, all have the same problem. When I roam on verizon (using the verizon prl) even with 1 bar of verizon service I get 10 times as fast as I do with 6 bars on sprint.

it does this to me all the time on 4G on any sense rom, and the CM6-7+4G roms. There are days it tells me I am in the UK.
Something I'm used to doing with previous smart phones that I haven't been able to do with the G Nexus LTE, is maunally update the PRL. So with that being said does anyone know how to do this or know of a program or app that can do this because I live in a rural area outside of 4g coverage, 3g works just fine, but I figure that me updating the prl would help me get back to full coverage as with my previous 3g smartphones without being in a 4g area, and yes I am aware that 3g and 4g refer to data, but as stated all my previous phones have been 3g phones so that may actually be a small factor. Any knowledge or assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Flash a radio in CWM if you are rooted. LTE phones do not use the *228 update as you have already noticed.. so this is the only way I believe

Thanks and I'll do that if I decide to go ahead and root my phone but I haven't done so yet because this is the first android in a long time that I haven't rooted lol and I know the benefits but the stock rom, to me so far, is better than what im used too, atleast for the moment.
Hmm, there seems to be some disagreement, saving *22899 as a contact and dialing does 'change' the PRL, it isn't clear from the comments I've read that it is updating correctly, although this number does seem to be autodialed by the phone in roaming situations. Some have said this will damage the SIM which I find a bit unlikely. Others have said that rebooting the phone without the SIM (turn off first) then rebooting again with the SIM will, and some say that the PRL is updated every time you reboot... Since I haven't had roaming issues yet, I've not tried any of them...
*228 does damage the SIM.. that's why it's blocked from an LTE phone.

What are you basing this comment on? Speculation? Rumors other people posted online?
The mere fact that many GN users (myself included) have had their phones auto-dial *22899 is pretty clear evidence that it isn't "bad" for your phone. At worst it may be unnecessary as the phones are capable of auto updating, but clearly its not "bad". My phone has been running 52642 for several weeks now and runs very well.
Pull battery, pull sim card, leave out for 90 seconds, re-insert both and reboot. This forces the phone to check/update the PRL.

We had a lot of people do it on Thunderbolt launch day and fry their sims. It was blocked shortly after by Verizon.

As above ^
Otherwise, feel free to dial *228 and tell me why it doesn't work.
Adding *22899 to contacts and dialing out updated my PRL as well. We'll see if it helps with signal out on the farm.

I just tried the *28899 seems to work? Although I'm still not sure how you get a keypad to show up to hit option 2 . But after I added it to contacts and told it to skip activation it programmed. Wish I would of checked my PRL version prior to updating so I'd know if it worked or not.
Works for me

Ok So I know there is alot of Speculation about this..
So I live in an Area where US Cellular and Verizon use each others towers. And my phone used to bounce back and forth between Extended Area (US Cellular) and Verizon.
After doing the *22899 while in a US Cellular area it updated my PRL my Radio reset and I Haven't Bounced back to US Cellular Yet.
I also for whatever reason am Now able to get 4G in our basement of where I work. Before I was lucky to get 3G But Now I get full 3G and when 4G pops up I get 1 Bar.
So I dont know how all this stuff works.. but I went ahead and did the *22899 knowing it could pop my SIM Card (I Used to have a Thunderbolt and Yep It broke the SIM on it when I first got it) But I was prepared to go get another SIM. You never know till you try it, is my Theory.
But Im happy to say, I have Full 4G at my Home. And I have 3G/4G in areas I used to never be able to get it.
BTW- the *22899 from talking to a Guy at the Verizon store said it forces the phone to Update/Activate Even if your in extended area. Thats the difference between *228 and *22899 I tried it out on my Dads old POS phone, its been in extended area since the day I got it for him.. Its just a Cheap Flip Phone. And now he gets 3G.
But yea Id only do this at your own Risk.. I maybe just one of the Lucky ones it works on.. Who knows.
I think as long as you do *22899, it will force the PRL change if there is one. Otherwise it will do it automatically.
*228 does not work though.
I've noticed spotty and inconsistent data/service on my phone. Even with full bars I get data speeds like shown in the attachments. When using the phone it will sometimes say I have no data connection and ask me to retry. I retry a few times and it finally loads whatever it is I'm loading. I've also noticed that my phone sometimes gets a little warm while in use. I've tried different modems with the same results and I'm about ready to just take it to the sprint store and get it swapped. Any suggestions on what might fix it? I can confirm that it is something with my phone because I've run side by side speed tests with my friends OG epic and their speeds are normal. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thats about what I get too. Its a combo of this phone and Sprints crappy network! My evo got better speeds as well.
I am getting the same thing too. Funny thing is that it just started being this way recently, it wasn't always slow. It is not just the data speeds, I am getting no service in places where I used to get service.
I have been seriously thinking about switching carriers and moving to t-mobile but a little afraid because I have been with sprint forever.
If something don't change by the end of the month, sprint may be losing another customer since the GSIII is on ALL carriers.
I am in Raleigh/Durham NC by the way.
I agree... it didn't feel so bad until I got my ET4G, but I just figured it was a network issue. I'm trying the EL29 modem on my Calks 1.6 now. If anything I'll try going fully stock and see if that helps.
Welcome to the Sprint network
Some people are experiencing network issues in places where Sprint is upgrading to LTE. I don't know how far-reaching the effects are but could possibly have something to do with it.

Yes, I notice the same thing lately with Sprint Wimax, I may have to dumb Sprint later. Sprint data speed gradually slows down from time to time, some area, Sprint shows only 1X, I look at friends' phones with Verizon, ATT and Tmobile, they have very good speed. My brother has Verizon LTE phone, I speedtested at the same location, he got like 17mbps download and upload is about 15mbps, mine is 1X speed. Suck, I gonna say goodbye to Sprint later.
Welcome to the Sprint network with the New iPhone4s d-bags. Seems like things were great till they showed up. Even my Evo got slower.
data
Maybe your phone is stuck in 1x..
What i do is i go into debug (##debug# in dialer) and i go to others, and then i select hdr/1x and i click on evdo mode. Try doing this but you need your msl.
Caution: ive tried it on ics roms and its really weird. Try going on a GB rom and do that. Oh and on EVDO, you wont be able to recieve messages, so when you are done change the setting back to hybrid.

NC market has some EVDO issues affecting certain users.
I was just told this after getting off the phone with them earlier today for a different issue.
Still incredibly slow, but I'm hoping the network update fixes some things. Thanks for the information though!
