I don't think there is an option for this, but does anyone have any hacks? How about after phone is rooted? My desk at work is a black void for Sprint signals, and causes all phones to go from 1 bar Sprint to 5 bars roaming, thus killing the battery.
Anyone try/ have any links to point me in a place to start?
Thanks!
This was never achieved on the Hero, doubt it will be found on the Evo.
Be careful with roaming, sprint told me this morning that they reserve the right to terminate your service if they feel your phone is roaming too much...

Actuall, I was looking for this as I was in the same boat as OP...I couldnt find a way to do it.....
I went through a lotta ROMS, upgraded the radio and some where in that process it configured itself to force roam (verizon)........but the battery life was worse than it was earlier
Not available yet.
You may want to check into an airwave for the office. If you ask nicely and tell them its because you can't get service they should give it to you for free.
I also need a force roam hack/app/widget... Whatever someone can make!!!!
This was a often used app on my Pre. I hope someone figures it out!
I need force roaming app/hack too
Uhhh, that technohow guy has that prl you can use that will put you on verizon. If you have your msl it just takes a minute to switch back and forth from verizon to sprint.
Android is very new. It will be years before regular WinMo functions are available on it.

Sorry, you are dumb, since you don't seem to understand simple concepts like roaming.

The methods used in that thread are actually better than roaming.
how am i dumb for posting a link that will help people on this thread....
instead of using sprint towers . its using verizon towers...
I am looking for the same thing. I live in DC and sprint is horrible for service where I work and live. On my Pre is just change it over to roaming and I have excellent signal. Soon as I leave the area or get home I just switch it back.

Grow up. If you can't discuss things with the other adults without resorting to insults then don't bother posting. That thread helped several people roam to verizon with out actually roaming.

This is the perfect solution. It is definitely not DUMB. Thanks sheryip for posting this first because I would've suggested it as well. =)

I've been warned before but this was after leaving it on roam for 2-3 months. Guess I got too lazy to keep toggling, (with Touch pro 2). They said anything over 800 could be considered "excessive"

I tried this hack a few weeks ago. It def. gets Verizons towers but not the same as Verizon customers if that makes sense? I have a Touch Pro 2 that gets 4-5 bars when forced roaming. However when I use this hack, the bars wont stay in 3G, spotty data and fluctuates between 0-3 and 3G and no 3G. Compared this to 2 co-workers I work with. Def. not the same as their towers. I will continue my search for this app or hack

FALSE, MrGreg figured it out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7501064
He is working a widget now, I believe.
I am working on a version for my EVO... it is just a short matter of time till the ROM guys start putting it in all the EVO ROMs.
Someone start a bounty on this app and it might just be created.

So i know that if you put a verizon PRL in your sprint phone not uncommon for sprint to terminate your contract for roaming too much. But my question is: do they charge fees for terminating it?
Im 99.9% tempted to switch to a verizon PRL so I can get good coverage until they just terminate me then I can start a contract with verizon with a different phone .
I dont know if its my coverage here or what but I have slow 3g, never get 4g, signal drops to 0 for 30 seconds every few minutes, and webpages time out almost always. Kinda over it..
Can someone who knows more than me chime in on how good/bad this idea is?
I have done it just to see how it is, my only issue and reason for switching back is I could never get text msg's to work even with the option check to retrieve while roaming.
I just wanna know if its a clean loophole into getting out of the contract pretty much
try going back to sprint prl1 with cdma workshop.
Would vrz prl get u 3G or u stocked with slow data thing.

yeah i would like to try the same thing lol. i would think that they could only charge you if you "voluntarily" choose to terminate your agreement, but if the wording is in there, they may be able to charge you for any kind of breach that terminates your contract. i am with sprint. ill try browsing the ToS to see if it has any conventions for this. anyone know for sure?
Sprint service is crap where I work (outer areas of Detroit), so I am using Roam Control for when I get near work. Most of the time I get a tower in the US, but every once in a while a Canadian Tower appears.
Sprint has told me to update the PRL (done 01115) and has tried to block the international roaming (didn't work), so now I am here to ask the experts.
Is there someway to prevent locking onto an International Tower?
I am running Syndicate Frozen ROM with Emotionless Beast Theme (which deserves more thanks than I could give, since this is how I figured out I was on international tower).

I think that your best bet is to enable the Roaming Guard.
Now I would advise you download ROAM CONTROL (http://www.appbrain.com/app/roam-control/com.vuvuzela.roamcontrol) and force the network to HOME ONLY and that might work out for you
Let us know.

I have and use Roam Control so that my phone will work at/near work which I want. I would say 95% of the time at work, I am on a US tower. I am just looking to prevent the other 5% from charging me International roaming charges.

When I am using it, it is on Roam Only.
When Emotionless Beast said "International" instead of its usual "Emotionless Beast" on the lock screen, I would think that somewhere in the programming it the phone knows where it is at, and am simply wondering if there is a way to block data while on international.

Not sure what it is all about. The last link in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13153111 talked about this PRL, so I manually loaded it.
Bumping, since my phone is seems to go into International roaming anytime I am at work now.
Staying on Sprint Network only is not something that I want to do. After paying a lot for the 4 phones I have with Sprint (and the fact I do not leave the US) I do not think I should have to pay for the Canada Roaming addon.
Sprint told me update the PRL ("to one that is greater then 64" was actual quote from the rep) and this will end me getting an International tower.
My PRL does not update automatically (don't know why, maybe due to Syndicate Frozen rom), so I manually updated to 60676 and still get the international tower.
Does anyone have any other ideas on what I can do?
If it is only at work you are concerned about maybe you can talk your boss and Sprint into setting up an Airave there so you won't roam at all.
Do you BONSAI?
Didn't think about that. I will have to talk to them about it.
So after many conversations with Sprint and many bill adjustments, we came up with the solution of turning off Data while roaming on my phone. This still allows me to be contacted by texting and voice.
Allthough still not happy that International towers cannot be turned off completely, at least my kids are able to get a hold of me.

Sprint phones can roam on Verizon's network but not the other way around. Of you need Sprints coverage you gotta switch carriers.

I called Verizon and they said that wasnt true anymore
your building is prolly using a repeater. this might make the difference for roaming purposes.
So if any kind of extending device is being used I can't roam off it then

from my experience with hospitals that use repeaters, only that service can use it (i live near a very large hospital and they have sprint repeaters)
Okay and there is no way to do anything with the prl like sprint users do to use Verizon signal or tricking it to think I'm using Sprint phone or anything

not that i am aware of.
Okay thanks I'm glad to finally get answers good or bad I have been searching but always find the opposite for people on sprint wanting to use Verizon signal
I know at one time this was possible to run a sprint phone off Verizon towers without having to do much to the phone. Is this possible still? I am way up north and I do not have great service and would like to do anything I can just to get better service

It used 2 be possible buy using certain verizon prl that would keep u in roam mode on verizon all the time but they have been kinda of forgotten or lost in the mix..i would search search and google for a while to find them they used be like 00001 00002 if i can remember also as far as i know i think freeza rom is the only one u can easily switch prl because it has prl write for a option but u may be able to do it the computer way search again thats all i can remeber .. sorry i just earsed those old prl from my sd card not thinking i would have a use for them. But many used them so they would get kicked off sprint for way to much of off network roaming, that might be the reason for them being hidden deap in the search world

I was able to find it. Sac28 note 5 Port is able to easily write prls as well
