http://wmpoweruser.com/is-the-nokia-ace-showing-up-at-a-design-museum/ here is a link to the leak of possibly the nokia 900, i believe it will come early 2012 in the US
Thats just an artist render, but yes the US will be getting a device in early 2012. January is supposedly going to be their announcement, and from what I've [heard], its a Lumia 800 type device (awesome) with possibly a larger screen and more features. This could mean a FFC and other things, but we'll just have to wait and see

doesn't even have to have a bigger screen to me, just give me a lumia with a FFC and you'll have the first mobile device that I've ever cared to use for a full year. My DVP is being replaced at 11 months some time this week by the lumia 800.

Nice. I thought about ordering an 800, but I want to wait till they release one to the States, and am hoping it is a little different (ffc would be great, 32GB storage would be perfect). Let us know what you think once you get it.

I wouldn't count on the carrier logo being removed. Its a common trademark that almost all North American carriers seem to do.

You are right, they have that moronic Apple Logo.
The N9 does not have the back, windows & search keys so it would be better to get the Windows Phone device. So its up to you if thats really that important.
I wouldn't bother with it without a larger screen. 4" is minimum for me.

Same here, but honestly if they keep the 3.7" screen, but up the storage to 32 and put in a FFC I would still highly consider going down a little on screen size.
I'll have it Thursday. I'm a bit nervous about the tiny screen. Haven't had a screen that small as a daily driver since the g1 (yes I know it was 3.5) fortunately the keyboard is intuitive enough that it's a non-issue.

There's no need for concern, there will be a 900 series WP7 device. But give them a break - they just shipped their current flagship, the N9, to stores in October. Surely it deserves to be king of the hill for at least a few months.

If I may ask, when is this 3 months/90 days wait for the CNN and ESPN Nokia exclusive apps ending? Has the countdown even started? I need these apps desperately and can't imagine I have to wait for them coz I'm not using a nokia Lumia. Does anyone know the countdown?

Why can't you imagine that you have to wait because you don't use a Lumia? Only sounds fair to me! They are OEM semi-exclusive apps. I rather prefered them being OEM-exclusive apps. That might make HTC to wake up and make some kick-ass apps rather than the-copy-the-android-apps!

If you go to the thread that you can change you MFG in the marketplace, you can make Nokia show up and just download these apps to your phone right from the marketplace.
I could not live with out a good ESPN app, so I had to try it, and it worked...and even the CNN app.

Is this a windows thing or what? I can't seem to send video through sms, is there a way around this??? Also I received a 3gp file, which I know even a flip phone can play it, but WP can't? I can hear the sound but not the video? This is crazy, we're at ver 7 of windows mobile and none of this is possible? WM 6.5 was able to do this
Windows Mobile and Windows Phone are two totally different products. Windows Phone was completely rebuilt and has very little in common with Windows Mobile. You will not find the exact same functionality between the two products.
One current omission is the ability to send your own videos through SMS/MMS. This feature will become available in the next update scheduled for release sometime this month. You can forward SMS/MMS that have video content in them that have been sent to you, you just can't send your own videos.
Also I have had no issues with 3GP video files, as they play just fine on all my Windows Phone devices.
It's reported to be coming very soon in the Tango update, i.e. Windows 7.5 refresh.
Well I just think it's ridiculous that in this day and age, a company like Microsoft would write and os that doesn't have the most basic feature that has been around for a decade, its not their first mobile Os. Yes one would argue that the first apple iPhone didn't even have mms, but it was their first mobile os, Microsoft has been in the game way too long to have miss something like this. I do like WP but I really think it shouldn't take an update to have something like sending a video through text to be implemented, I don't even think we have the option to send it through email either...correct me if I'm wrong.

Not trying to flame but didn't the first iPhone iteration famously lack the ability to send MMS of any type?
Exactly my point, I knew someone would bring this up, at least if apple can use the excuse of not having a mobile os and it was their first one, ms has been in the game for way too long to overlooked something like this.

Windows Mobile and Windows Phone are two completely different beasts. Windows Phone was effectively MS saying 'yeah ummm... we got it wrong' and starting over from scratch. Regardless of MS' history, this OS is still in its infancy.
EDIT: Also, Windows Mobile was an OS that existed before iOS revolutionized what the term 'smartphone' actually meant. So, again, their mobile OS history is effectively moot.

So you like sending at max a 600kb file through MMS? Why not just e-mail the video or upload to youtube this way it has the best video quality possible?
I agree & I've been pretty vocal about the lack of video mms. But luckily we'll have it in Tango. Which should come within a month, if rumors hold true. But it's still easily the best OS available.

I think that is exactly the same logic Steve Jobs used to downplay the lack of MMS in the original iPhone. Needless to say, the market disagreed...and Apple relented.
Joel
I'm sure it's not 600k anymore w most of the smartphone, regardless it should have been a standard feature to have. You can argue that wp is the first or whatever but I'm saying still, it should have been there, shouldn't be that hard to code it into the os.
600kb is set by the carrier and not the phone. MMS was available on the iPhone 3G. Apple had to work with AT&T to get mms allowed on their network.

iPhone is also excluded on size limits on MMS. You can send much larger sized MMS than any other phones.

Based on the Tago ROM's released you are able to send about 3 sec max of VGA not HD video taken by a phones camera via text. But as far as I understand those ROM's were from the Tango SDK dump. Maybe the final release will allow longer video's. I also know Tango is to provide multiple attachments to a text.
People still send video through MMS? Didn't that die when screens stopped being 1.2"?

I think it's ridiculous that in this day and age people don't research a product before they buy it. So many random things people are beefing about that a little digging could have prepared them for, especially when locking oneself into a 2 year contract.
I really don't care that MMS video isn't there...
I don't complain the infrared isn't in phones any more, its because its obsolete. IMO MMS is obsolete. its a restrictive and expensive way of sending stuff, that you can send much more in an email.
MMS was really only made as an alternative when phones couldn't send emails.
Hi all.
Over the weekend i finally got myself the Lumia 900 cyan (got it at Saturn, in Germany), really happy now (wife has the 800). This is what was installed.
Os version: 7.10.8779.8
FM: 2175.2101.8779.12201
Radio software: 2.1.75.20
I think i got it with Tango installed right? i now can add multiple images and video to mms.
It runs smooth as barry white in silky pants, love it!
yeah, every other Lumia 900 around the world is getting Tango but the US version.

Both my Focus and Lumia 900 have same tiles on home screen, focus: one flick and I scroll all to bottom, on Lumia I have to flick 3-4 times since they have their de-celeration value cranked up...
Another thing to, the L900 doesn't register contact immediate with the touchscreen, and is delayed in following your actions as well.

Lucky for me, they have the tango pre-install in malaysia as well, but the phone have to be send back for repair due to front camera distortion in the 1st week of purchase still waiting for the service center to call me for collection...
i used to have an HD7 from when wp7 was launched, until a few months ago, when i switched to lumia 900... i love this new phone, the AMOLED + clearblack display and the whole feel of the phone and everything... but i miss my sideloaded stuff... its has been so many months... and all other lumia models except 900 have custom roms or jailbreak methods... why is it taking so long to jailbreak lumia 900 and sideload apps?
i appreciate all the work and attempts various developers and the likes of DFT are doing to crack this device... but could someone explain why 900 out of all windows phone 7 devices is so difficult to jailbreak? is anyone working on this? i cannot use marketplace to buy apps too, coz my live account is registered in the US and microsoft wouldnt allow change of country.. and they've asked me to use a different account and i dont want to... should i just buy the $100 dollar developer account? would that let me change accent colors through registry and sideload apps like RDP and games like NFS n stuff??
hope someone cooks up a custom ROM for lumia 900 soon.

With a massive time lag as well, when I plug in the charger its a good 5 seconds before the software cuts in to show the battery is charging.
This phone is supposed to have a 1.4ghz processor in it, but it performs like it is operating on top of a very slow BIOS, and everything it does is laggy.
Pros - its never crashed...yet

This is not lag my friend. This is the firmware checking the battery's level to decide how much current to demand from the charger. The closer the battery is to 100%, the less current is drawn from the charger.

Yes I am an Electrical Engineer. I would rather have the firmware double and triple check the battery's level and condition before deciding what is the optimized charging rate.
If anyone is bothered by the delay it takes before charging starts (couple of seconds), then I advise them they go start scooping water out of the sea!

Exactly... And I don't understand how can these 5 seconds 'delay' bother anyone - it's not like they matter in any way, if you need to charge your phone, those 5 seconds won't be the thing that will delay you before you'd need to go out for that super-important hamster education convention...
5 seconds? Isn't that a bit of an exaggeration? Also, the horror of having to wait a second or two before charging starts. My ${deity}, the things people nitpick about these days.
Not an exaggeration, me too it's more than 5 second before charging start (when the sreen is off).
Yeah mine typically can take nearly 30 seconds to begin charge. And the screen is unresponsive wile this is occurring. The 900 is my first run with Nokia. & I've got to say I am HIGHLY unimpressed with the hardware. I've had MUCH, MUCH better phones from HTC & Samsung. Sorry, but it's true. Anyway back to the thread topic, the reason this phone is not cracked open is because no one wants to spend time on a device that is out of date from the start (win phone 8 launch Oct 2012 ) and slow to respond generally, check out Nokia's own support pages for the 900 (the screen takes 5 plus seconds to illuminate properly, are you going to live with that as well ?? plus a load of other niggles)

why not? millions of people bought this phone. so are you saying that no developers bought this phone? even the ones who bought it are not bothered to crack it, coz they call themselves idiots for buying this phone and idly sitting around waiting for windows phone 8 to release so that they can try and crack that?
and also just because windows phone 8 wont be natively supported on this phone, why should that stop anyone from trying to crack this? HD2 was only made for win mobile 6.5 ... people cracked it, ported windows phone 7 and even android OS on it... maybe one day someone will develop a way to port windows phone 8 on first and second generation windows phone 7 devices..
this is not a good enough reason.

As I said, the phone was not cracked yet because the bootloader is closed. There's no "progress" in cracking it by whoever is working on a crack, AFAIK, there's just shooting in the dark and hoping to hit something that might provide a hint for a way to crack it. It's either that - or Nokia, in a future update, will do a sloppy job and leave a loophole in the bootloader which will enable cracking it.
Thing is, these mistakes/sloppy jobs doesn't come quite often, and this is the reason why we're waiting so long for a crack to the Lumia 900. Also, bare in mind that the device is rather new in the market (~4 months) and these things - like cracking - just takes time... Sometimes more, sometimes less...
