http://wmpoweruser.com/is-the-nokia-ace-showing-up-at-a-design-museum/ here is a link to the leak of possibly the nokia 900, i believe it will come early 2012 in the US
Thats just an artist render, but yes the US will be getting a device in early 2012. January is supposedly going to be their announcement, and from what I've [heard], its a Lumia 800 type device (awesome) with possibly a larger screen and more features. This could mean a FFC and other things, but we'll just have to wait and see

doesn't even have to have a bigger screen to me, just give me a lumia with a FFC and you'll have the first mobile device that I've ever cared to use for a full year. My DVP is being replaced at 11 months some time this week by the lumia 800.

Nice. I thought about ordering an 800, but I want to wait till they release one to the States, and am hoping it is a little different (ffc would be great, 32GB storage would be perfect). Let us know what you think once you get it.

I wouldn't count on the carrier logo being removed. Its a common trademark that almost all North American carriers seem to do.

You are right, they have that moronic Apple Logo.
The N9 does not have the back, windows & search keys so it would be better to get the Windows Phone device. So its up to you if thats really that important.
I wouldn't bother with it without a larger screen. 4" is minimum for me.

Same here, but honestly if they keep the 3.7" screen, but up the storage to 32 and put in a FFC I would still highly consider going down a little on screen size.
I'll have it Thursday. I'm a bit nervous about the tiny screen. Haven't had a screen that small as a daily driver since the g1 (yes I know it was 3.5) fortunately the keyboard is intuitive enough that it's a non-issue.

There's no need for concern, there will be a 900 series WP7 device. But give them a break - they just shipped their current flagship, the N9, to stores in October. Surely it deserves to be king of the hill for at least a few months.

This upcoming Monday, Microsoft and Nokia will be having promotional events in three cities in the US to give out "Free Time Machines".
It's interesting that they would market the Lumia 900 as a time saving device. The cities in question are SF, Chicago, and NYC!
Anyone planning on going?

I almost wanna drive up to SF or take a quick flight
I think they figure most Seattlites are already going to be more aware than average of Windows Phone. I see them on the bus around here (and not just on the ones full of MS commuters) and there are two Microsoft Stores within about 15 driving miles of eachother...

if 800x480 is good enough for you, great. text doesn't look so great at this low resolution.
it's not only about the 4.3" screen displaying 1080, it's about when you capture video with the phone. is the iphone's retina display just marketing stuff ? take a look.
i turn my phone off two to three times daily, sometimes much more. not disrupting other people is a nice thing. it's actually off right now. the internet told me the chance of alien encounters was very low for the month of April.
I don't know of a windows phone that ' turns off ' when charging.

800x480 is pretty low considering the standards of tech. But that's not Nokia's fault, it's chassis one requirements. And it is noticeable on a nice zoom into text sadly.

What is "pretty low", what the "standards" (RFC, ISO - show the proof link!), what the "sadly zoom"? What are you talking about???
I'm professional developer, working on the startup specializing in smart phones (video delivery). I saw (and work with) a lot of (no, A LOT OF!) different handsets, running different platforms, from the different manufacturers. But my "low resolution" Samsung Focus display is exceptionally good! I have no problem to read/zoom text, watch video etc. even on a daylight (where is iPhone, 4 example, sux at all). So, if you have a problem with WP7 resolution - buy a pair of glasses!
criticisms promote changes and improvements. developers understand this, normally.
if the device were perfect, there would be no need for improvement of any facet.
Went to phones4u today and saw that had received two devices this morning asked them to play around with one, its pretty cool... 460 gbp for now ) will you get one?

My Lumia Developed a problem (phones4u)
No sound from the phone speaker and its only a day old, resetting only helps for a while.
funny enough if I press the bottom of the screen between the windows logo and the search button I can hear the sound.
Defo a Hardware problem, THey have given me an exchange code now, Hope to exchange it today hopefully for a better one.
Camera seem to take blurry photos close up /portraits ( changing the focus to macro seems to help )
Also mine has the purple tint in camera which goes away if saturation under camera settings is changed to minimum.
It is a beautiful phone with Bugs ... But still a beauty nevertheless

Camera is great, very good outdoors, not quite on par with the 4S but a lot better than my previous WP7 (HD7) which doesnt say much. I would say its the better camera ive had on a phone (having never owned a 4S)
Music is good, although, currently lacks an virtual EQ. IM a Zune subscriber and to be fair ive never really had any problems.
Interestingly, the BT Audio to my Logitech BT headphones is better quality and more consistantly connected that is was on the HD7.
Nokia just pushed out an update for the Lumia 900 on ATT!
Quote from Nokia Conversations
This update brings the following enhancements:
▪ Removes purple hue which affected the screen of some devices in low light conditions
▪ Improved sensitivity for the proximity sensor
▪ Other minor adjustments and enhancements
This update is only for Nokia Lumia 900 on AT&T’s network in the United States.
In addition to the enhancements mentioned, we’ll be rolling out new updates and surprises in the near future to all Lumia 900 users, so stay tuned!
Connect to Zune for the Update
Only change in About Screen was Firmware:
Was: 2175.1002.8112.12048
Now: 2175.1003.8112.12085
As per Radek Hulán: EU version, for comparison, has this FW: 2175.1601.8773.12141

I'm not doing the update yet. I'm going to wait until it is dark. What I'm thinking is Nokia's "fix" may just be removing the lowest dimming settings. If that is the case then those of use with working phones will actually have our working devices "crippled." Gonna see if I can video tape the difference... assuming there is one. Trying to understand the OLED screens.
Can the Rogers users flash the AT&T firmware or would the phone become locked to AT&T or Locked to Rogers again?

I had the purple hue setting and can confirm that the lowest brightness setting is still available. they did not take it away. On the contrary, it seems like they made the automatic 'low' brightness setting even lower than the 'low' manual setting.
I am not sure if this was the case prior to the update but what i had seen earlier, at least in a Samsung focus was was when you set brightness to 'Low' manually, and then changed it to automatic brightness, the lowest automatic brightness was equivalent. Now, the lowest automatic brightness is lower than the 'low' in manual.
Can anyone confirm this with their non-update lumia?

That is the way it was prior to the update. I'm just wondering if both low settings are putting out the same absolute number of lumens as the pre-fix settings.
I don't know that you can go back and forth with ROMS. I removed the Nokia flashing software from my computer and I don't want to hassle with it. So I am going to test and then do the update and see if there is a difference. I just need an objective way of being able to see a difference... if one exists.
Posted on a different forum. This is how the iOS works and looks like WP7 is supposed to as well.
Autobrightness is working, but it does look like it works differently than it did in the past.
Before, if you had auto brightness on and the brightness (level) set to low, the screen would go from the lowest brightness to the highest brightness depending on the ambient light. As long as auto brightness was on, it did not matter what the brightness setting was. The screen would adjust from the dimmest to brightest.
Now, it appears that the brightness setting affects the bias of automatic brightness. For example, if I have auto brightness on and the brightness is set to low, the screen will not get bright enough to read in the direct sun.
I now have auto brightness on, and I have the brightness level set to high. All seems well.
Based on reading some user guides for WPs, I think this is the way it was supposed to work all along. So, it looks like auto brightness not only works; it works as it should.

I'm wondering the same thing. I haven't seen it come back yet, but sometimes, it was sporadic.
Also, I didn't have the purple hue issue, but I don't notice any difference on automatic brightness from before. Might be due to me not previously having the issue, not sure.

I still have my Focus, and yes, it's buttery smooth. But, I'd be happy to trade you for your Lumia...
I'm just generally upset about my whole experience.
First, I was going to get the 900 when the $100.00 software-bug credit was there, but Rogers came back and said the $100.00 nokia rebate was only for new customers, not existing. Apparently existing customers had to pay not only full pop, but we weren't even eligible for the "month to month" price, we had to pay a higher cost for an "existing customer full buyout".
Then I accidentally break my focus, and get the 900. Returned it over 5 times, all had the purple issue.
The lag issue sucks, the battery issue sucks. I've accidentally let the phone completely discharge twice, and the last time I almost wasn't able to get it back (took over an hour to get it to power up).
Don't get me wrong, the phone is slick, beautiful design, specs are nice, etc... But I'm just getting SOOOO agitated at the Rogers/Nokia combo of issues.
Edit: I'm just ornery and having a bad day. Just extremely choked that Canadians didn't get the update as well... I tweeted Rogers, and they said they have nothing to do with it, they said it's all in Nokia's ballpark and they have nothing to do with the update process.

NokiaUSA is saying YES!
they said that we can get wp8 updating a few weeks ago
They also said "To clarify the post is about internet sharing..." and some other **** I give a **** about" NOT 7.8
This is too funny.... there's a video posted on the usual wp websites from just after this morning's WP8 seminar. It showed a preliminary version of the 7.8 version on an ATT lumia 900. When asked, 'can you flick it to the left so we can see the apps list?'... the MS or Nokia rep replied: "it'll crash the phone". He then explained it's just a crude test version.
Release anytime soon... not likely.
They also said they'd have a fix for the purple screen a LONG time ago, and we are still waiting for it (only AT&T got the fix)...

But ...the big question really is.....From where did you hear that about WP8 on latest Gen older devices?? I work very close with friends from Microsoft on Windows Phone. Never, never ever never, have they ever hinted, to me, that WP8 was going to be a broad update, or even work on old devices.
So, if you have some Steve Balmer, Terry Myerson insight...please share....

Words of wisdom and people please stop mentioning Apple's methodology. The lumia 900 is way newer compared to the 3GS when the 4G came out.
3GS did not get all the iOS4 feature but it was already old in the market unlike the 900!
Take a Deep Breath
If you are like me, you bought the Lumia 900 hoping that, since it is a high end phone, it would be upgraded to WP8. You didn't know that for a fact, you either guessed, relied on others guesses or hoped. You rolled the dice based on a feeling that MS and Nokia would do the right thing, based upon your desires. Well, they did the right thing based upon their needs. I love my Nokia 900 on WP7.5, I'll love WP7.8 even more. It will take me a long time to grow out of WP7.8. At that time, I will upgrade my phone to WP8.x. Like most of you, I am not at all happy about this. The highest of the high end WP7 phones, just released, and not upgradeable to WP8. Sure I am mad, but mostly at myself for taking such a chance with no facts to backup a future upgrade to WP8.

Agreed, pretty much sums it up for me. I took a risk, banked on MS to not depricate a "flagship" device like they HAVE NOT done so often in the past and took it in the a$$. Like I said, fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.

Call it what you want. The phone was FREE here in the US. It was cheaper than some feature phones. I had no expectations. I got a nice very capable smartphone for free. My expectations were met.

I'm locked down on contracts for the next 7+ years since every time I get a phone from my provider it breaks, so I extend to get another one discounted...
I bought the Lumia 900 outright for $600... And It's not physically busted, but now is obsolete
There's just no winning...

That's somewhat your fault mate! Why would you do that?!
MS messed up for sure, but let's not blame it for all our problems.

I'm so mad at the whole WP8 thing, I think I am going to blame them for all my problems... And my cell provider (which is another story I'm not even going to get in to), heh
I don't want to disrespect anyone, but how could any Lumia owner not feel screwed.
Don't forget poeple that every device, comparable to Lumia 800 or 900, with different OS can run Skype, viber and other VOIP apps in the background... It seems Lumia 800 and 900 will never be able to do so.
How could you just accept that.
$135 androids have VOIP while we ($500/$600 Lumia owners) don't?!?!?!? and you're ok with it?!?!?!?!
Now I know that most Lumia owners are MS or Nokia loyals... I am one... And when others critisized the lack of apps and the inability to run Skype, I always defended both saying that apps will come and skype will be updated... "just a matter of time"... Do I feel stupid now!
I'm not saying I'm chaging to other OS... I'll probably get a new WP8 device and a surface tablet... But i can not NOT feel screwed.
BTW, I got my Lumia 800 in January... was so happy with it that I ordered the 900 about 2 weeks ago... (both factory unlocked cause we don't have contracts where I'm from)
i just got my phone less then 2 weeks ago, i'm piss... but what else can i say, i like the design, and the support from nokia seems good enough. Don't get me wrong, i'm not a WP or Nokia fanboy. Just like what JamesAllen says, i put my bet and i lose it... nothing more, nothing less, but i still like the phone, i'm gonna keep it until i feel a need to change to another
