[POLL] When will we get Ice Cream Sandwich ROM ? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

This is a poll to see when you think a working & stable Ice Cream Sandwich ROM will be available to us from a developer
or from Samsung/Sprint. This is NOT a poll about when you plan to install the ICS update.
I'm conducting this poll in conjunction with my REWARD for ICS ROM thread.

As soon as we get an AOSP kernel, you can be sure we will have an ICS ROM.... At the latest it will be Q1-Q2 2012 for the official update though.

I predict I'm going to the supermarket and I'm going to get an ice cream sandwich in a few hours

If you think politicians are good at campaigning, you would have enjoyed the banners I hung through our home (weeks before Christmas/Hanukah) when I wanted something in particular from Santa or Hanukah Hank!
Since I currently live in the Entertainment Capital of the World, I am obligated by Nevada state law to entertain as much as possible. Glad you're enjoying the show.
This year all I want is Ice Cream Sandwich for my smartphone!

I agree with the official release. I'm gonna say late spring-early summer till they stick a touchwiz ui over it. For a ROM based on source code id say no more that 2 weeks after its released

I'd say a little more then 2 weeks after ASOP is released. They still need to make it actually work. As for an official update I don't think we will see it till maybe around summer time.

They have made and released the source code for 4.0. It's up to the manufacturers and carriers to get them to devices not google.
I hope that ics will be around for a while and that they are rewriting android with jelly bean and have a clear vision forward about updates

OP, are you new to news sites and tech blogs? They are so focused with finding something to write about that they look for any little thing they can report on. Everyone loves rumors, so naturally they will take even a small mumbling and make it into a story so they can drive more people to their site.

That makes 0 sense, considering one of the big points of ICS was to merge Honeycomb and Gingerbread so that Android had 1 OS on a range of devices, including phones and tablets.

Are you smoking something? ICS didn't come out on a phone until late mid Nov, Mid December for the US. You have NOT been waiting even 8 months. 6 months at the latest and they probably haven't really been working on it for E4GT but for 5.
You complain that a company is wasting time and money to give you something for free? I am sure someone will step forward to say theyre was a bit of advertisement somewhere saying it would be 4.0 upgradable. Guess what we are getting it and some phones like the Xperia Play that they said would are not!

Everyone says this. Sure we want it done right. Its just taking to long. They are a corporation if they wanted it done now it would have been. Yes maybe If five guys were all working on it sure I wouldn't be impatient with them. We aren't talking about a five man team here but a huge corporation as stated. That being said I used to be on T-Mobile network an was told my phone would get an upgrade. Never came. They kept saying they were going to release but they didn't. That's one of the reasons I'm on sprint. Hopefully sprint doesn't pull that same ****. I doubt it will. I shouldnt give a corporation the benefit of the doubt.

Matthew, the "tomorrow" thing is an inside joke from another thread. The idea is that HTC will release an ICS update tomorrow but tomorrow will never come because by then it will be today.
HTC hasn't announced any release dates since missing the August deadline. They haven't officially said they won't update, but at this point it appears HTC and Verizon have quietly abandoned our phone.

Why does everyone think they said we will get the update in August, technically they said they will decide by then if they will release the update to us, kind of using lawyer terms to keep them from commiting to an actual deadline. So technically they havent missed the deadline and it could be 100 years from now and they still wouldnt have lied, nkt agreeing with their practices, actually their deceipt disgusts me...

That's just a bugfix, though, not an ICS upgrade. Maybe a little bit closer would be the Thunderbolt ICS OTA that's announced, but even that doesn't matter because what the devs need is the ICS kernel source for the DInc2. Nothing else will help.

"Good things come to those who wait"
As of right now, the 4.1.2 roms for our phone is adequate enough. Most 4.2 roms that are currently out for other GS2 equivalents still have several issues that need to be resolved or are in beta. In my opinion, it is much better to wait for a stable 4.2 rom to upgrade to from the current 4.1.2 roms.
So to the devs who are working on getting 4.2 to our T989, take as much time that's needed. It is better to improve a good rom than to fix a broken one, perfection is key. Cheers!
So wait. Are we officially on 4.1.2? I thought s2x wouldn't be getting it until the start of next year? Or was it 4.2?
Now i am confused.

IMO i think that 4.2 will be released which will be after the international version gets released and who knows when the international version gets released and it will take tmobile a couple of months to customize it so that they can release it for our devices so what i believe in is that when you guys finally hear news about the international version being released then i think you guys can post some threads that are accurate and not confusing most of the people on 4.2
Also on another note i think the thing you guys should put your hopes on is cyanogenmod 4.2.1 which still isnt as stable but for you people who are impatient
and like previously stated in this thread even when it gets released it still might not be a daily rom that you can rely on everyday to use to its full potential so sorry for anyone who got there hopes up

Considering the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket STILL hasn't gotten an official OTA for 4.1.1...official 4.2.1 is EONs away. Once 4.1.1 hits Skyrocket, I'll show Samsung the petition for Hercules.

SMH.... this is dumb..
I doubt this device will ever get official 4.2. Only by the grace of cyanogenmod and aokp.

Its possible that we coldu get 4.2 but unlikely I doubt wwill get it officially as well.. Its more likely that we will end up with 4.1.3 or 4.1.4 ..or some sort of small incremental update after we get JB
