Yeah other than testing source built aokp with a custom kernel, I havnt left Blazer 4.1 and will not until ICS is fixed.

I've been running release 26 for a few weeks now. Other than my broke-ass bluetooth, its good enough till OTA rolls out!

Check out Frankenstein. It's the best ICS I've used to date.

I second Blazer. We should have ICS by now though, this is unacceptable. This phone came out in September, we've been waiting 8/9 months for ICS. It shouldnt take them THAT long! Just wow.....

If you've had samsungs in the past, then you should know already. Don't question them saying by april, question them "april of what year?"

Are you smoking something? ICS didn't come out on a phone until late mid Nov, Mid December for the US. You have NOT been waiting even 8 months. 6 months at the latest and they probably haven't really been working on it for E4GT but for 5.
You complain that a company is wasting time and money to give you something for free? I am sure someone will step forward to say theyre was a bit of advertisement somewhere saying it would be 4.0 upgradable. Guess what we are getting it and some phones like the Xperia Play that they said would are not!

Everyone says this. Sure we want it done right. Its just taking to long. They are a corporation if they wanted it done now it would have been. Yes maybe If five guys were all working on it sure I wouldn't be impatient with them. We aren't talking about a five man team here but a huge corporation as stated. That being said I used to be on T-Mobile network an was told my phone would get an upgrade. Never came. They kept saying they were going to release but they didn't. That's one of the reasons I'm on sprint. Hopefully sprint doesn't pull that same ****. I doubt it will. I shouldnt give a corporation the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah that's our Epic Touch. It had the touch buttons of the Nexus on the bottom and the radios didn't work, but it was cool to play around with. Flashed it on my phone for a few minutes before going back to Blazer. I'm still hoping we'll have a daily before the Nexus drops on Sprint, but I doubt it.

Doesn't mean anything whatsoever. These international leaks were for GSM SGS2's, which, last I looked, the Epictouch still isn't. Mine's still a CDMA phone, and there haven't been any leaks for a CDMA SGS2, so we're still where we are with that.
As far as devs go, what do you mean by they "went away"?
They're still "there", (it's not like they were killed by ET4G owners), and they (he) are/(is) still working on ICS: Just not here on XDA.
Btw, this IS another useless thread, in case anyone was on the fence about it....

Well technically the Epic touch is still on Gingerbread so I don't think they would be able to port to our phone yet.
Once the source is released a good developer could build a stock AOSP ICS ROM for our phone...
It would be nice to start from a un-modified Android ROM so that we could have something similar to CM9 with tweaks specific for only the E4GT.

I totally agree with you on ICS based ROMs are buggy and laggy. I've tried a few now and I haven't really been blown away with ICS so far. And I agree with the need for an official build for our ET4G's.
But I don't think it's Samsung's fault totally, I'd almost place most of the blame on Sprint. The international GS2's have their ICS update, and we all know to well that the ET4G's update to ICS is being worked on and tweeted by Sprint. A good portion of our ICS custom ROMs come from Sprints development and leeks, so it's there.
Sprints got a few new ICS devices out like the new Nexus and EVO. Plus more in the works for this summer, mainly the GS3. I always feel that most of the "feet dragging" on updates are done by the carriers. Why would they be concerned with updating last year's hardware, it only costs them money. When they could focus on selling us the next big thing with all the new bells and whistles and make some money. But hey that's just my opinion on the it.
For my money I'm sticking with 2.3.6... I've been running a stock, rooted, debloated rom as well as the stock kernel and modem for the last few weeks now and loving it. Using GoLauncherEX as my launcher I get no lag, and haven't had to deal with any lockups, random restarts or apps not working right or not at all.
Updates are always going to be an issue... I remember the wait for Froyo, it finally came out and most of us were disappointed with it. Then the wait for Gingerbread started... It fixed a lot of issues, but over the last year or so with the release of 2.3 and it's minor updates Gingerbread has become very stable and fast. Especially on devices like our ET4G'S, Gingerbread was originally written for lower spec devices so... On a device that's capable of running ICS it runs like a dream. But again that's just my opinion.

I'm not abandoning my Epic, it's worth more to keep than to sell... but I'm running out of things to do with it. And apparently I'm running out of users to share with. My files downloaded are at half the rate they were just 3 months ago.
There's even less questions to answer (repetitive or not), most discussion is on new devices rather than the Epic 4G... Yes, lot's of users, are, have, and likely always will pay the full price rather than waiting a couple of months to subsidize most of the cost. I don't have that freedom of flowing cash... so here I wait for my upgrade to arrive.
I still have 140 days or so for my upgrade discount, the lady has about 40. I'll still be around for a bit. Even after my upgrade I'll be checking in as I plan on letting my daughters use these 2 epics as wifi devices for games, music, and netflix.

That's just a bugfix, though, not an ICS upgrade. Maybe a little bit closer would be the Thunderbolt ICS OTA that's announced, but even that doesn't matter because what the devs need is the ICS kernel source for the DInc2. Nothing else will help.

As of right now, the 4.1.2 roms for our phone is adequate enough. Most 4.2 roms that are currently out for other GS2 equivalents still have several issues that need to be resolved or are in beta. In my opinion, it is much better to wait for a stable 4.2 rom to upgrade to from the current 4.1.2 roms.
So to the devs who are working on getting 4.2 to our T989, take as much time that's needed. It is better to improve a good rom than to fix a broken one, perfection is key. Cheers!
So wait. Are we officially on 4.1.2? I thought s2x wouldn't be getting it until the start of next year? Or was it 4.2?

IMO i think that 4.2 will be released which will be after the international version gets released and who knows when the international version gets released and it will take tmobile a couple of months to customize it so that they can release it for our devices so what i believe in is that when you guys finally hear news about the international version being released then i think you guys can post some threads that are accurate and not confusing most of the people on 4.2
Also on another note i think the thing you guys should put your hopes on is cyanogenmod 4.2.1 which still isnt as stable but for you people who are impatient
and like previously stated in this thread even when it gets released it still might not be a daily rom that you can rely on everyday to use to its full potential so sorry for anyone who got there hopes up

Considering the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket STILL hasn't gotten an official OTA for 4.1.1...official 4.2.1 is EONs away. Once 4.1.1 hits Skyrocket, I'll show Samsung the petition for Hercules.

SMH.... this is dumb..
I doubt this device will ever get official 4.2. Only by the grace of cyanogenmod and aokp.

Its possible that we coldu get 4.2 but unlikely I doubt wwill get it officially as well.. Its more likely that we will end up with 4.1.3 or 4.1.4 ..or some sort of small incremental update after we get JB
