[Q] Not able to access settings after factory reset - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!!
I had some problems with my DHD. I wasnt able to phone, to send messages and to turn it of (there was no reaction of the phone)
So I made a factory reset and the functions are working again, but now the setting menu doesnt exist anymore.
I also tried to get into the bootloader, but there is also no reaction.
(Is it possible that fastboot is ON ?)
What should I do now? Any advise?
Thanks!
Revolution HD 6.1.2 is running on my DHD

Try flashing the ROM again (without wiping, although as you've already wiped data by doing a factory reset it probably doesn't matter whether you wipe or not).
If you can't get into bootloader by turning off (because fastboot is on), either choose reboot and hold power down after the softkey lights go off until it reboots, pull the battery then replace and boot into bootloader as normal, or use adb to reboot into recovery.
//sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk; all errors entirely intentional.

it worked!!
Thanks!!

[Q] Stuck in Bootscreen when trying to enter recovery?

Hi everyone,
i just tried to root my unbranded stock 2.1 desire with unrevoked - everything worked fine, there were no errors during the process and after that the phone started clockwerk recovery.
I rebooted the device - and everything seemed to be ok (Root working fine, just did a Titanium backup) but when trying now to enter clockwerk recovery again, the phone is always stuck in the bootscreen (htc logo) and the only way to get back is to pull out the battery.
Does anyone have an idea what could cause this and what i could to to fix this? I waited for more than 15minutes, but nothing is happening and i see no way to enter recovery (and then flash a new rom) again.
Thanks in advance,
jp

What process are you using to enter Recovery?
Entering Fastboot (Power+Vol down) and then selecting Recovery from the Menu....
By the way, after entering fastboot (and before i can select Recovery) there are always a few textlines showing up (too fast to read, but i think somthing like p99xyz.zip is mentioned), it seems like he is searching or updating something....

Yeah that is normal. The text always scrolls there, nothing to worry about.
So when you highlight Recovery and press "Power" it just goes to HTC Screen and doesn't get any further?
If so, it sounds like your recovery has been corrupted somehow?
****I am not 100% sure about the advice I am going to give, so take no responsibility, wait for someone else to confirm****
1. Try reinstalling the permanent recovery via unrEVOked again.
If that doesn't work try:
2. Reinstall a stock RUU which should reset your phone back to stock, ensure it is an original one with a stock Eclair image (not FROYO).

"reformat" "reinstall" HTC Desire + +

Is there a way to reinstall my android system if for example android crash and wont boot?
Are you using a custom rom?
Are you rooted?
You can always do a nandroid backup (backup of complete system) via clockwork.
I think you mean a factory reset. Hold the volume down key while powering up the phone and you can select that option from the boot loader.
Yes but i mean, if factory reset wont even work. and it only reboots every 30 sec.
Like the system is really ****ed. and the only way is to reinstall android.
this happened because i satt down installing apps and games for hours and then did a restart just to completely refresh the system. and there it hangs in the boot and just keeps restarting and restarting 4 ever.
And i haven't made any backup to restore from.
I do not use any custom rom
And yes i am rooted. i have clockwork mod installed.
i used the lastest unrevoked. but i dont think nand is unlocked.
is the solution maybe to find the right update.zip and use that method to reinstall android via recovery? since i can mount USB mass storage to the PC via recovery?
You can do a complete reset. Go into your recovery. Vol down and power then select recovery. Once booted, do a factory reset and wipe the Dalvik cache. Then you can flash the rom again and start from fresh.
If that doesn't work, you can get a WWE RUU and run it. It will wipe everything so you will need to root again but it will give you back control of your phone. Just to let you know, if you do use an RUU you might need to create a Goldcard.
Sweet!!! Thanks GoogleJelly!!
Did the complete reset with success Even though i recall doing something like this in recovery. Ohwell just did exactly what you said and my Desire works like a dream again
At least now i know what people mean with "playing around with random apps is dangerous"
This is something that i've been searching around the web for. But keep finding this: There is nothing that you can do. Take it back to the store and send it to repair.
Though i would send it to repair if it weren't for GoogleJelly =)

[Q] HTC Desire Looping "quietly brilliant" startup screen

My HTC desire with the official ginger bread update on is now looping the "quietly brilliant" startup screen - my battery run out and when I started charging it and switched it on, this happened, completely random
I have tried recovery mode etc, however this doesn't work
Does anyone know if there is anything I can do?
Does it go to
- bootloader mode vol- and power
- fastboot mode back and power
I had the same problem, after doing some research I came to the conclusion that the issue was with the partition type of my memory card.
Try this, remove the memory card insert the battery and then restart [do not insert the memory card]. If it works now then you have the same problem I was facing. If not then this could be something different.
Reply, if the same i will provide the solution.
try deleting (wipe) user data and dalvik cache if you don't have something important.
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
Key phrase here is "with official gingerbread update".
via xda app
yes it has the official gingerbread update on it from the htc dev site - ie I have never rooted it or put a custom made rom on it
recovery or fast boot, ie switching on with volume buttons doesnt work
I have tried without the memory card and without the sim card still loops
I just cant seem to stop it looping this screen!
*edit*
oh wait, I just tried fast boot, back and power and that worked!
what can I do now? reinstall rom?
The only option you have right now would probably be to run the official gingerbread RUU again. Unless you wanna root it from this point forward.
You'll probably lose all your data which is probably lost at this point anyway.
My concern is that it just went crazy and you are on stock so I feel something else might be broken.
via xda app
Get the 2. 3. 3 RUU from htcdev only and run it from pc.

[Q] Reseting Problem, phone will crash

Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Android version 4.3 OTA, Bootloader open
When trying to rest the phone it won´t properly shut down, and will reboot so that nothing changes. It won´t save anything, tried to unistall app, it will crash after that, or while shutting it down, and it won´t save anything. It will boot again, and everything will just be as it was before, it simply does not save/change anything anymore.
Even factory reset with the volume buttons in recovery mode won´t work, same problem there, won´t shut down properly.
Tried to flash and/ or install new factory image with the GalaxyNexusToolkit, but it won´t save, or even fail in the process. (i´ve tried at least 10 times)
Bootloader is open (has been for like half a year now, never had problems before, tried Re-locking it with the GalaxyNexusToolkit, but won´t save, i guess, recovery mode does not work properly cause of the open bootloader.
What can i do to completly reset my phone?
Thanks very much in advance for your advice,
Yan
Did you try to flash stock image using fastboot?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
yes, crashed/did not save as well

[Q] Weird bootloop

NOTE: This device is not mine, it belongs to my girlfriend and I am the one troubleshooting for her.
here goes:
Yesterday, while a friend of my girlfriend's was playing with her Galaxy Nexus (my GF's), it suddenly rebooted itself without warning.
From what I understand, Nexus bootloops that are caused by faulty flashing usually loops at the "Google" logo (correct me if I'm wrong). Her's is a different story, her Galaxy Nexus is pure stock, locked bootloader, un-rooted and definitely nothing custom on in; literally pure stock. Instead of looping at the "Google" logo, her GNexus loops at the "X" logo, my assumption is that there is something, maybe a rogue app, that is causing her device to bootloop upon reaching startup phase.
I know this isn't a software/ROM level issue since we were able to get to her lockscreen a few times and then the phone reboots after a few seconds. I've tried wiping cache but didn't work, and she won't let me try wipe data/factory reset because she has a lot of important files on her phone. So odin flashing and wipe data/factory reset is out of the question.
so here are some details that might be of interest:
1.) Her phone is not rooted and is pure stock android 4.1.2
2.) does not have custom recovery
3.) does not have usb debugging enabled (not sure, but I assume it's not enabled)
4.) can still boot to fastboot/recovery/download mode
5.) reboots at the X logo
So the basic troubleshooting methods are out, now I'm thinking of using adb pull to extract files from her phone via adb, but problem is, usb debugging is off! Is there any way of recovering her files at least without booting to the ROM itself so I can flash another version of android on it (via odin)?
I've also read about "safe mode" that boots the device without starting up 3rd party apps, only the core essentials. I'd like to go down that route if possible, but we've tried most of the guides on how to boot into safe mode but to no avail. There was one time though that the device booted up and she managed to: open power menu > hold power off > reboot to safe mode, but nothing happened, it just rebooted only to get stuck at the X again.
I may be overthinking this, so I've turned to XDA for help. I know you guys don't like people asking n00bish queries but I've exhausted everything I can think of and I'd like to try everything before I go down the route where I can possibly do even more damage.
I really need help with this, anyone have any ideas? We'd really appreciate it!
Unlock, flash custom recovery, wipe system, data, cache, dalvik cache and flash 4.3 factory image. Problem solved.
