[Q] which ROM - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

to the people that have tried all the roms that came out for the galaxy, which one do you prefer and think is the best, as far as stability, performance and battery ? and which has the least bugs ?

Bump. Juggernaut 1.1 is what im running now, definately better than stock, smoother and better performance. Im really itching to try out BeastMOD, but so far I havent been able to flash it properly for whatever reason. Im running the telus SGH-T989D, with UVKID Insecure Kernal
[EDIT] I just flashed Jugs 0.1 OC'D to 1.8GHz, working great with Juggernaut!

battery
hows the battery on juggernaut ?

[Q] Whats a good kernal for batt life and charge rate.

I would like to find a good overclockable kernal and am not really having luck finding much info about them. I see SVC and all that stuff but i dont know what all that means. I am running the newest version of IncRom and love it besides it having a stock kernal. I use alot of wifi teather and am on my phone alot so i need something thats going to be a strong signal for the wifi and i need one that charges fast and has acceptable battery life. I know i cant have everything all in one but i have flashed like 6 different roms and notice the kernals do matter for example the OMFGB 1.1.1 rom the battery dies so fast i can watch it drain but takes 5 hrs to charge back up. I have no use for something like that u know. But on the flip side it has an overclockable kernal!!! So could someone guide me in the right direction or at least break down what kind of kernal im looking for??? I really would like this info thank u.
I have CM7 on my phone but replaced the CM7 kernel with the latest version of incredikernel. It has been good so far and I have great battery life. I can set the governor to overclock my CPU up to 1113 MHz and I have verified the increase in speed is giving more performance through a couple of benchmark apps. I am also able to do either wifi or USB tethering without any issues as the CM7 rom has native support for both of them. You may want to try flashing your baseband radio as the different versions will offer different performance. I am using 2,15,00.11.19 right now and it is working well for me.
incredikernel AOSP is excellent for both battery life and overclocking. I can't speak for the Sense ROM, but I'm sure it's just as nice. I can say that the AOSP roms charge QUICK, and with the smartass governer, you can oc and uc and have great battery life.
I'm running chad's incredikernel right now on SkyRaider 4.0 and I love it. The smartass governor is great for battery life and it charges really fast. It's the only kernel I'd run on a sense ROM

What ROM do you use?

Right now I am running axi0m 2.1. So far its the best rom that I have used. Its very smooth and battery life is great especially when your phone is asleep. Losing only 3-4 bars over 9 hour period.
The rom can be found at rootzwiki.

Haven't seen any reason to change from stock. I lose about 3-5% overnight as-is, and everything is perfectly stable with no hiccups.
I may run CM9 when it hits a stable release.
Until CM9 is out, I am sticking to stock and rooted...

I didn't have any reason not to run stock so I backed it up and just to check it out I am running Android Revolution HD™ 2.1.2 and it's working very well to date.
i'am using stock rom. i tried android revolution 2.1.2 but i had so many problems with it. stock is far more stable and its faster. with android revolution my battery worked for a day with normal usage (a few emails, a bit gaming) now it last for 2 days...
Started on Th3ory zygote 1.8, now on Axiom 2.1 + matr1x OC kernel. btw these gay ass names kill me! I love you devs but why the idiotic titles?
Im OC'd to 1.35 and stable as a rock. A bit more snappy than the stock, boots much quicker (have my girlfriends bone stock GN side by side to compare) and I love the notification area power toggles too.
Wifi teather up and running and the 240dpi/BRD launcher mod really puts the 720p screen to use! Cant go back to the normal screen density now! Loving this GN more and more...
stock rom because it offer stability, speed, and more stability.
I started with ARHD, but now i am using bigxies rom 5 with the latest franco kernel! Without oc, it's really smooth! But i can't wait for flashing cm9! ;-)
rockin' Axiom 2.1 and lovin' it. fast/stable/ great batt life.

[Q] Most stable rom?

Hey guys,
I've really been hesitant to root my GN and flash a custom rom, but I really miss being able to tweak the colors just like I used to do with my Nexus S.
I was decided on not flashing a custom rom on my GN because I want to keep it as stable as possible (bad experiences with my Nexus S).
I'm wondering if any of these custom roms are stable enough that I wouldn't notice a difference between stock and a custom rom.
I'm really happy with stock, but I would love to be able to tweak the colors, and right now I'm really confused as to how I can make the experience better while keeping it as stable as stock is (no random reboots, freezes, crashes).
Any ideas, suggestions?
Thank you.
I've tried a few, some buggy and some not so buggy, but the one that I have had ZERO problems with has been:

Revolution HD
It is VERY close to stock, just cleaned up...and I get great battery life as well.
AOKP Milestone 2 + Franco Kernel
You're on a GSM variant. Shouldn't have to worry about battery life as much since CDMA uses a lot more battery.
If u are going to the trouble of rooting and installing a custom rom. I would recommend u at least go w a 4.0.3 rom.
While I'm sure revolution is a nice and stable rom, its only running 4.0.2. 4.0.3 brings quite a few performance improvements.
I use bigxie's 4.0.3 rom along w Franco's kernel. Nice, stable, and great battery life along w great speed.

[Q] Switching to ICS

Hi, I have been reading the Xperia Arc Android Development fourms for the past few hours trying to decide which Custom Rom / Firmware to go with. I'm simply looking for a method to update my Arc towards a light/speedy phone with ICS.
I have had a few names shout out at me but currently its
Acronium 4.0 -> Trinity Kernal v1.6 or a recommended one he suggests.
I've seen that Trinity is created by the same author as MooDeD ICS.
Pretty much what I'm trying to say is its pretty hard to differentiate which custom rom would be better than the other ...
If I could be directed in the right direction, I would very much appreciate it.
-Sincerely
Steven
Hey, the combination you already wrote is the fasted ICS combination at the moment. Flash Arconium 4.0, Trinity Kernel v1.6 and the new Xperia S apps. You wont really find a faster combination than this right now.
As I know, Trinity kernel has incompatibility to some apps. I use ArcKnight 3.3 which is very good in battery life.
for the ROM, arconium 4 still the best for now.
Regreted changing to ICS
I regreted changing to ICS
Almost all custom ICS ROMs out there don't perform as promised and they are somewhat laggy
I've double-wiped before installing the ROMs so I believe it's not my problem
And GB can give me the smoothness and responsiveness that no other ICS ROMs can

Well try only 4.0.4 based ROM, for speed and responsiveness, I can recommend CM9, AOKP, and JJ Hybrid. Many others claimed Acronium is the fastest, but I've not try it.
My 2 cents

fAST LIKE hELL.
If u really care about your battery life, U should choose arconium...
Arconium with stock kernal has the best battery life....
I mean the best batery life...!!!!!!!
its pretty smooth aswell...
Thanks for the reply guys, it was very helpful.

Your Combo, Your Favorite..

Okay i have been flashing different ROMs, there are some i have yet to try. I have yet to download any kernels aside from what the ROM comes with and same for radios. So i would like to get some of your favorite ROMs and kernels/combinations. Few ROMS i was thinking of giving a try lately were the MIUI(but i see there are voice problems, but some people don't have it) Also the KANG liquid smooth. Slimkang. At the moment i am on All Star v4 11/28/2012, did not flash a different kernel or radio. So would like to just hear some of you guys favorites. Would like to give some stuff a try. Just like a nice, smooth, fast, responsive, DD, good battery life, ROM. Thanks
To some, this will seem like a step backwards. For me, the one rom that works best on my phone is Juggernaut 5.0 with Faux's version 10 kernel. Everything works on this rom and battery life has been fantastic. I have tried several of the ICS roms that are out right now, but for whatever reason, there always seem to be some issues that keep me coming back to Juggs.
Juggernaut V5 is my favorite for this phone, so far. I think it comes with the faux kernel, but I didn't pay much attention to it, as it works flawlessly and didn't need a different kernel.
You are correct about Juggs already having Faux's kernel. If I remember correctly it is version 9 and works great as well.
This gets me 18-24Mbps download speeds, and averages 5+ hours screen on time:
T989 on AOKP MS1 JB (KK nightly) V6'd & Pimped
4.0.3 + Faux has been the best combination by far for me.
