[Q] Most stable rom? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys,
I've really been hesitant to root my GN and flash a custom rom, but I really miss being able to tweak the colors just like I used to do with my Nexus S.
I was decided on not flashing a custom rom on my GN because I want to keep it as stable as possible (bad experiences with my Nexus S).
I'm wondering if any of these custom roms are stable enough that I wouldn't notice a difference between stock and a custom rom.
I'm really happy with stock, but I would love to be able to tweak the colors, and right now I'm really confused as to how I can make the experience better while keeping it as stable as stock is (no random reboots, freezes, crashes).
Any ideas, suggestions?
Thank you.

I've tried a few, some buggy and some not so buggy, but the one that I have had ZERO problems with has been:

Revolution HD
It is VERY close to stock, just cleaned up...and I get great battery life as well.

AOKP Milestone 2 + Franco Kernel
You're on a GSM variant. Shouldn't have to worry about battery life as much since CDMA uses a lot more battery.

If u are going to the trouble of rooting and installing a custom rom. I would recommend u at least go w a 4.0.3 rom.
While I'm sure revolution is a nice and stable rom, its only running 4.0.2. 4.0.3 brings quite a few performance improvements.
I use bigxie's 4.0.3 rom along w Franco's kernel. Nice, stable, and great battery life along w great speed.

[Q] Which ROM for best battery life but w stock Sense feel (for the wife's phone!)?

Hi,
I'd appreciate some advice (having searched as best I can first, and without hijacking another thread) - I'm a Nexus One user (running CM6.1, and very happy with it), but my wife's Desire (currently unrooted stock latest OTA update) has a sucky habit of running the battery down to zero every so often when she's not using it and I've been thinking a custom ROM is the way to go. However, there's a lot of roms for the desire, and I can't work out which meets the requirements best:
1) Must appear to be a stock Sense rom to the user (she's just got used to the UI, and I don't want her to get flustered) - I'd like something that seems as much like the stock rom as possible please.
2) Best possible battery life (happy to try uv if it's unobtrusive)
Any replies very much welcome, ta.
Jim
I prefer not to say which ROM is better compared to other ROMs as I think it would be unfair on the developers who have put in so much hard work to bring us such a great variety of ROMs, but in terms of battery life, I would personally say that I had the best battery performance out of OpenDesire. The only problem though is that OpenDesire does not have Sense UI. With it, I was averaging about 2-3 days (depending on usage) use out of it before I need to put it on the charger. At that time, I was also running a different Radio (5.10.05.23).
If you really need Sense UI, then I would suggest LeeDroid's ROM as it provides pretty good battery life as well.
Have you considered the MIUI ROMs? they are pretty new and highly customisable, with an iOS like interface with widgets, also provide impressive battery life and are very stable.
I'm sure many would disagree with my findings but this is just based on my own experience of using these ROMs.
MasDroid,
Many thanks for the advice - I've gone with LeeDroid and it's worked like a charm. A well supported and stable ROM, which I'll recommend to anyone in the same position.
Thanks again!
J
I second MasDroid's opinion about LeeDroid ROM.
I am glad you're enjoying such a good ROM. Hope your wife is happy, i know how important that is

VZ Galaxy Nexus Rom Comparison Question

Hey guys, I have a VZ Nexus on the leaked JRO03O rom. Since then, is the official JB rom came out. Is it worth upgrading? Also, is there a better rom (battery life, performance, stability) than the one I have right now? It tends to crash from time to time and booting up takes a while.
I have been using AOKP build 4 with Franco kernel milestone 6 and it is buttery smooth and very, very stable. I have had literally zero issues, crashes, anything negative happen while running this ROM with the updated kernel. I highly recommend trying it out.

My suggestion is try as many as you can until you find one YOU like. CM7, CM9 and CM10 ROMs have ones that are more "stable" then others. It depends also on what you are planning on using the ROM for.......I mean what are the activities or tasks that you want to accomplish? Do you want the newest JB ROM for app compatibility while sacrificing battery life or a CM7 ROM which is dated a little bit but fares better in the battery department.
Also there is the issue with Flash not working correctly on JB but works with CM7 and CM9. If you want OTG support than you might want CM10.
My personal favorites are remember this is MY opinion and opinions are like butt-holes lil)
1.) Barebones CM7: a bare ROM without all the bells and whistles which leaves a lot of room for personal customization, excellent battery life
2.) Energy ROM CM9: smooth ROM with typical ICS ROM battery life which = or slightly greater than stock
3.) AlienDroid CM10: built on a excellent ROM and allows user custom options for the UI, battery life is getting better with CM10 ROMs but 8 hours might be an average
Hope this helps I'll stop rambling now

Best JB Rom for Nitro?

Which JB Rom would be the best for the Nitro? I'm on CM10 Stable right now and all seems good so far. When I had my GSIII CM10 was to buggy. Just wanted some opinions from you who have been using the Nitro for some time. Also which JB Roms work with LTE?

Asking questions like this, you miss out on all the fun. They are all more or less equally stable, equally battery draining, and most have functional LTE.
For my part, tried a couple and came back to normal CM10, im running the nightlies and not having any problems, added 4.2 camera, 42 kerboard and flashed Lighting Zap kernel gave me a little more performance and battery life.
Honestly, you should do the same, backup what you have now and try them, it's all about your personnal preference ...
Thanks for the input. When I had my SIII I got tired of flashing different ROMs all the time. I guess I'm just getting to the point where I just want something that works great. I see the ROM options for this device are limited compared to the other Android devices I've had.

[Q] Stock 2.3.6 vs Custom ROMs

I bought my Galaxy W and instantly started modding it, currently I'm on Arco's CyanogenMod 9 EOL, I didn't have much experience with the stock ROM you actually get with the phone, Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread with TouchWiz 4 UX.
My question is, is the stock ROM the most stable ROM with the best battery life you can get?
I would like to have some basic info like how smooth it is, the battery life, usability compared to the later CyanogenMod ROMs. I'd like to know whether its actually the best option except being kind of out of date now.
Thank you in advance :good:

From what I know the stock rom is better at keeping the battery use low during standby but i don't know whether that's true

I think that's true..
cause some Custom ROM come with some tweaks, some can keep the processor running low during standby. some also have some kind of better ram management.
Also if you want, you also can try some other kernel. cause some can even make longer battery life
switched for a tweaked stock 2.3.6 to a custom ICS and never looked back, the performance is just much better
I would say that my battery lasts longer with a custom rom. On stock sometimes it suddenly went off.
Currently I'm fine with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2214042. And the camera isn't green.
