When ever i connect my phone to my computer via usb this happens;
No noftication bar on my phone. (set the default connection on each option, makes no differance).

Hello, XDA-Experts!
I encounter a problem with my desire HD and looking for any help I can get.
Since about one week my Phone is not recognized when connected to a PC.
I am using the phone since December 2010 and it works well since then. It's S-Off and Radio S-Off. In the moment, I am using CoreDroid 4.9 with Radio 26.06.04.06_M. Before I was using the ARHD ROM for some time.
The problem occurs on 3 different PC's with 3 different operating systems (Server 2003, Win 7 Ultimate 64-Bit, Win XP Pro SP3, all of them used to recognize the phone before). Windows never recognizes the phone now, android (in most cases) recognizes the connection an asks for the connection mode. The phone is ALWAYS charging over USB.
What I tried so far, after searching in different forums and via Google:
- Rebooting the phone
- Removing the phone's battery
- Booted in fastboot - no USB connection
- Tried a different USB cable
- Changed the USB ports at pc (without hub, no other USB-devices connected)
- Flashing other ROM (tried CM and MIUI, with full wipe/factory reset)
- Checked the USB-connector in the phone with an electronic microscope - all contacts look fine
I am running out of ideas, the only thing I couldn't try, is another radio, because I don't know how to flash without pc. But I don't think, the problem is related to the radio...
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Your device manager shows anything when you connect it to your pc?Debugging mode is enabled?
Device Manager shows nothing. Debugging Mode is enabled.
I went through a similar problem a while back - took ages to resolve it - in my case the problem was the usb cables I was using - I had tried a few - but its possible to get cables that only charge and dont communicate - eventually i got it fixed by using a new original cable.
Might not be this for you but it certainly helped me
No fix that I know of...
I had this problem...
I tried different computers, different SD cards, I could take the sd card out and put it in a usb holder and that would work fine, so it really wasn't the sd card. I tried different usb cables too.... nothing would work.
I spoke to my carrier (Orange) to see if they could sort out the problem, and they went through their 'script' of diagnostics and came to the conclusion that it was my computer drivers and there was nothing wrong with the phone!!!
I then rang HTC and after several phones calls later, they said that they would repair it, unfortunately that would have left me without a phone for 2 weeks, so I rang Orange again to demand that they replaced the phone! I told them that HTC had said it was a fault and they sent out a replacement Luckily I had not rooted it at this point, so it was easy for me to swap it.
The replacement phone came the next day, and like magic, worked fine when I connected it to my computer (the same one that apparently had faulty drivers!!)
So, I never found a fix for this, but managed to get a replacement! hopefully you will be able to sort something out...
Good luck
I had this problem once and it turned out to be kernel related, but I'm not sure if this would apply in your case since you've flashed a few ROMs and still have the issue. Still, might be worth trying one of Apache's Buzz kernels or LeeDrOiD's latest... if only to rule out another possibility.
does your PC recognize it if you mount the SD in recovery?
if not, it should be the cable
I had the same thing, I went crazy, and somebody told me to use another cable
and worked
Same happened to me.
Seems the phone crashed the USB controller or something on the PC.
A reboot of the PC fixed it for me (I dont see you mention that anywhere).
First of all, thanks a lot for all your replies!
As I said before, I tried 2 different cables, that both worked fine before. But after your replies I tried a third, new one - same result.
The card is recognized fine by windows when I put it in a USB-Card Adapter.
What I forgot to mention in my initial post, is, that I also formatted the card in my pc, put it back in the phone and started the phone new - same result.
I will try some other kernels now. B.t.w., has anyone a solution for flashing the radio without pc? Via terminal, or recovery? As this is one of the few things, that I couldn't try yet.
I'm 99% sure radio wont be a factor in this mate as they only deal with mobile connections, eg GSM/3G, Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS. If the problem is software and not hardware then I think it will be with the Android USB gadget driver, which is in the kernel. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
Can you mount as usb in CWM?
No, that doesn't work either.

1) Try reinstall HTC driver on your windows and try again.
2) If it failed, backup all your files on sd card via USB-Card Adapter. Then use SD Formatter 3.0 (google it) to format the sd card. Copy the backup files back to SD card and try mount the usb again.
HELP i got the same problem
I use the phone in the last 6 months; I have S-OFF, clockworks custom recovery and rooted stock HTC 2.2 Froyo. The only change I made last week is purchasing a desktop cradle "stand". I tested the stand several times the last week and I was able to access the SD card & the HTC sync modes successfully.
Now when I connect the phone using stand or any other USB cable including the original HTC; nothing happened on the computer! The USB manager activates and brings up the USB connection type menu. However, nothing recognized by PC.
I tried all things that you can expect (another PC, another cable, factory reset, new room, with/without cradle) nothing happened, even I connected the phone on a new PC it didn’t detect the new driver!
What to do now??
Hi,
Not sure if you have already, but you can try the new HTC sync version 3.0.5557 - It's actually for the HTC flyer tablet, but i installed it and it works perfectly for the DHD.
You might have a driver issue, but the new 3.0 sync comes with new windows drivers so maybe it's worth a shot.
I've checked the HTC Flyer support page but there's no link there for the 3.0 Synch ... I could only find a direct link, here below
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=1097&news_id=923
Be sure to un-install the previous HTC sync first
Its not a driver issue, I tried the new sync. Not working. Nothing is working with USB only the charger.
I have a feeling that electrostatic damaged my USB. I remembered last week I touch the phone while charging and a one electrostatic click was strong.
help!!

hey I have same problem... :-/
what's the solution ?? plz tell me
same problem
please help
I have made several unsuccessful attempts at getting my phone to connect to my laptop or desktop ( both same OS ). I will do my best to provide the scenarios I have gone through. It may be as simple as locating the drivers and deleting, but I'm not sure how to tell which ones to delete.
Phone: HTC EVO 4G
Recovery: (Amon)RA-supersonic-v2.3
ROM: (Current) MIUI 2.6.8
OS: Windows 7 x64
Cables: Used both one provided with phone and a data transfer/charging cable purchased from BB/Rocketfish
FYI: I had the same problem with previous MIUI, and for whatever reason, attempts to load Classic v0.1.0 were unsuccessful last night, so I used Nandroid to re-load this os back on.
When the phone is booted into the OS, and connected to the laptop, the phone screen wakes, and Windows gives me "USB Device Not Recognized." This is WITH or WITHOUT HTC Driver installed from their Sync application. Attempts to utilize the SDK USB driver are met with "Windows has determined the best driver is already installed." When I try to explicitly specify one of the files within that directory, I am met "The folder you specified does not contain a driver, ensure you have a driver compatible with an x64 system." so, I located a file that claims to have HTC x64 drivers, and I get the *exact* same message as above (not compatible with x64).
Booted into recovery is no better. When I enable USB-MS, there are no new drives for me to go into to investigate. Same thing when in the fully booted OS.
I am sorry if this seems like a retread, but I have spent the last few days pouring through google and these forums without finding anything that has helped.
I have had to remove the MicroSD card and put it in a reader to load files onto it/pull files off. I am at work and have some downtime and would like to try to flash a new OS to this phone since THIS MIUI seems glitchy. and... my nandroid is at home.
EDIT: wtf... I could have sworn this was enabled in the past but I guess not. enabling USB debugging seems to have rectified the issue.
EDIT 2: Alright, I spoke too soon. Now, when connected, the phone repeatedly pops up asking me if I want to open SD card for sharing or whatever the terminology is. I cannot keep the connection alive long enough to transfer any files. Has anyone else experienced this?
I have 3 EVOs in my family, i have a similar issue with one of them. I have come to the conclusion that my wife is brutal with her phone and has messed the USB port up. It still charges, just doesn't get recognized when connected to a computer. I briefly got it to work, but haven't had any reliable success.

I found that, after installing classic, and the latest htc media app, which may have installed a better driver, I still had this issue. However, if I plug the phone in and rest it on my desk, it seems to behave.
So, it must be the port on the phone.

Hi guys,
my HTC One (M8) won't connect to my computer anymore for some reason. It charges, but I can't exchange files.
I am using CM 11-20141008-SNAPSHOT-M11-m8 and a MacBook Pro with Yosemite.
It always worked before, so I don't know why it suddenly stopped. At first, I thought that it might have something to do
with Yosemite, but a few days ago I tried to connect my phone with an older Mac (that i also used in the past for flashing) and it didn't work either.
Those are the only computers I have ever connected my android devices to and it always worked.
I tried reinstalling android file transfer for mac, but it didn't do anything. I also used 4 different USB cables including the cable
that came with the phone. I even reinstalled HTC Sync, Java and the Android SDK just to be sure.
Thanks in advance for all answers.
Hello,
I couldn't find anything on the web and in this forum to my issue.
I have a USB issue on my HTC Desire HD which started after updating the Stock ROM some years ago.
The Device is S-ON and unrooted.
The issue is that I can only charge the battery on any USB-Port on my PC. There is no popup window in which I can choose "disk drive", "HTC Sync" etc.
I tried a lot of other PCs, other USB-Cables (including the original one) and every single USB-Port.
In the "Connect to PC"-Settings th eoption "Ask me" is activated.
The weird thing about this is that on one PC I have a USB-Hub, more likely a card reader module with a USB-Port and on this USB-Port everything is working (I am prompt for the choise, I can go into "disk drive" etc.). But this is the only USB-Port with which it is functioning.
Are there any known USB-Issues after system updates on the HTC Desire HD?
Is there any way I can get the USB functions working?
Thanks

Nope. As long as at least minimum of One USB-port detects and works fine, means issue lies somewhere on those ports or drivers that you've installed on any pc. Try uninstalling them n make sure you've HTC Sync on every pc you try.
I'm no longer on Stock ROM, but on every Sense based rom, when you connect your device on Notification panel on your device will prompt to choose between Disk drive or Just USB, try choosing either one but only after updating drivers/htc sync for pc.
No issue seems like have been noticed till date as you're alone, n possibly an easy fix. If device works flawless n holds charge means USB-port issue or pc end problem only. Don't worry just update drivers and should be good to go. Also use factory reset option optionally if still problem persist.
I've already tried everything you said.
I uninstalled and updated the drivers and HTC Sync on 5 PCs.
I also tried to return to factory defaults.
Everything with no success.
And the fact that there is a USB-Port that is working, shows that it is not a driver or pc problem, because on the same pc the other USB-Ports are also not working.
Could it be that it is a hardware problem with the HTC?
I just don't know what the difference is between the card reader USB-Port and every other straight USB-Ports....
