Sorry, but everything's better with Blue Bonnet on it.
My guess is since the Nexus One is not officially getting it, the Evo 4G isn't officially getting it, either.

Where'd you hear the official word that EVO 4G isn't getting ICS?

While there is no official word, hence the word "guess" in my post, the Nexus One is definitely not getting ICS through official channels. With the N1 and the Evo 4G being very similar, hardware wise (same processor, ram, etc), that is my reasoning behind my guess (again...a guess, as I'm not in a position to make such decisions) that the phone won't see ICS through official channels. If it does get the update, I'll consider it a gift.
One thing to note; google and manufacturers have come to an agreement to support phones for 18 months. That's rapidly approaching (Jan 4th, 2012). I'd be surprised if HTC even releases a phone before then, with ICS. How long from source drop did HTC release a phone with Gingerbread?

Well the Nexus One has older hardware, as the evo technically.
The evo most likely won't get it 'officially', but in terms of ports, yes.

Sorry, but i don't understand why our Epic doesn't have Android 2.3 and my old HTC Touch Pro CDMA from Sprint does. Isn't that ridiculous?
We don't have the development community of the touch pro. They basically built gb from scratch we just don't have the manpower..
cd's or tapes?
That's verry sad.

agreed .......
It's because they use HARET, which more or less boots into Windows Mobile, then boots into Android(which gets GPS, data and stuff like that from the WinMO Haret boot)
Sorry, won't do it again.
in before the kick.
once the nexus 4g comes out we'll prolly have straight port.
Wer have gingerbread but it's not fully functional. Cm7. Tmiller also got a nexus s rom to boot on the epic. Still needs work tho. Just wait to sprint gets the nexus s. Big things will come

Because it's not like that has stopped any other device from already porting the Nexus S ROM. Sadly the above is true, Epic has no community. Most has left for the Shift, and even before that we barely had a community to start with.
I have a feeling that the Epic will get an offical Gingerbread from Sprint...
Wouldn't that be nice to have.

It will start going out in middle 2012

We've seen that statement before. But with Samsung owning both the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S(which gets ICS slightly after the Galaxy N launch) It will be nothing for the Euro GSG2 to get ICH. But as we all know the carries in the US will add months if not quarters to that.
So what I'm saying is don't hold your breath for anything on US SGS2's.
Thank goodness for xda. I bet we have it before the nexus galaxy comes out. And with full root and mods.

the euro/att version will probably have it soon, but the Epic Touch seems to be a whole different animal.
Just enjoy your phone people. History shows that the branded phones will get the OS updates in the middle if 2012, a long time away. I for one love the touchwiz ui on this phone and am happy with it. There is nothing I need the phone to do that is doesn't do with gingerbread.

We will get it when CM9 comes out for our device. That will be the first we see of it.
No ETAs. Don't ask me and definitely don't ask them.
So get to praying for (or helping with) getting CM7 running now to help with ICS later.
Me? I'm no worry. The phone kicks ass as it is. Enjoy it.
This phone with Ice Cream Sandwich will bring it to another level. Once that happens, I won't feel a need to even want the Galaxy Nexus. Will definetly be able to wait a lot more patient for the SGS3!

So I saw in a post on my sub forum you can get a Nexus S for about 60 bucks. I've played with this phone before and I loved it. I thought it was true good to be true, and I want to buy one sooooo badly.
SO the point of this thread is for you Nexus S owners to talk me into buying this phone, or talk me out of it.
Any recalls? And as of now I have the Samsung Epic 4G as my current phone and was wondering if the nexus isn't a good phone compared to my epic.

I reccommend it to those who don't mind being early adopters which means bugs, and are not gamers/benchmark whores.
Games play fine, but it is not the fastest gaming device out there.
If you want latest and greatest software, this is it. It is not perfect by any means but.it.is enjoyable as long as you are not a perfectionist.

Of course we would recommend it, this is the Galaxy Nexus forum after all.
You can probably buy a GN for $60 from the people disappointed about the 4.0.5 delay.
So, I have been eyeing this phone as well as Samsung phones in general for quite some time. I have to say, you guys have been more the patient in your wait for an official ICS release. This kind of delay doesn't fly for HTC users... and from what I am seeing, the HTC EVO 3D will likely release ICS before this phone... which is very surprising to me. But the most surprising thing is that there is no animosity over here about that.
You guys impress me.
Well the leaks we have received are definitely stable enough to hold us over. The majority of us are waiting for the kernel source to be released!
2 different companies doing the same kind of work. Nothing says one will beat the other. The job is done when its done.
Ive had ICS on this since the day I got the phone. Basically used an upgrade from another line I had so I could get the hell away from Evo3D. I was always an HTC fanboy but that device is the biggest POS I've ever had the pleasure of owning. And went through 4 of them (Had since launch). Waiting to see what happens by Nov to see what happens next.
There is something called life, and people live it. Why waste time waiting for ics when there are so many other activities to do besides pimping your phone?

I own both phones. Until the recent virgin mobile leak for the Evo 3D, the Evo didn't even have a decently working ICS build. For the longest time the dual camera setup prevented working cameras in any ICS build and even to this day there isn't a single AOSP rom that isn't without major missing features.
The E4GT was much better off than the Evo 3D for the past few months and to be honest it still is since the only 100% functioning ICS build on the Evo right now is sense 3.6 based which just doesn't compare to sense 4.0. Yes official ICS may release first for the Evo, this will indeed greatly improve the phones ****ty original sense 3.0 gingerbread setup but it will still only be sense 3.6. Yuck.
Trust me, I've got no reason to hate on the Evo, I've always been an HTC guy and own an Evo 3D afterall.
O yea the evo design and 3d already have ics

I had the evo 3d and it was probably the worse phone ever. Too many hardware problems with a really bad design and HTC supposed to have good build quality lol. Sense 3 kind of made it slow for a dual core. I have yet to use sense 3.6 but it looks ugly.

I've been running ICS since February on the e4gt, but to be honest, I really don't find a big difference between it and gingerbread. Really just incremental upgrades. So, I really don't understand the huge clamor for ICS from the user side, when it's more of a boon for Google and the manufacturers who can use a single release on both their phones and their tablets.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.2 Jelly Bean Update Gets Stamp Of Approval

Honestly, I remember back in the Epic 4G days when Samsung had the reputation that they did not support their devices, but it appears they've changed their attitude and now they're releasing updates like mad, even more efficiently than HTC is (at least for CDMA-based devices.)
If this is true, then the Samsung devs in charge of CDMA development will start porting it over to our devices. Perhaps we'll see RDFs in the next few days?

I had an Epic as well and it seemed like Samfirmware was our only hope. I share your sentiments and look forward to any changes Samsung is willing to make with regards to device updates.
I'm from the OG Epic as well (from its release to the s3 release); It is really refreshing to see them pushing out the updates for this phone!!
I too am from the OG Epic. People continuously blamed Samsung for the slow updates for it when in reality rdfs were being generated and test releases sent to Sprint almost daily and within weeks of the international update. I think the less intrusive touchwiz allows for faster updating. So hopefully we will see some rdfs reported soon.

Also a fellow OG Epic user ... boy I miss that phone (still drooling over that keyboard), but also love my GSIII. Nice to have the OG Epic family reunited here. If Samsung releases a 4.2 update for the GSIII in the near future, I'll take back all the bad things I said about them
hah what are the chances that 4.2 gets released before the s4 marketing train comes rolling through town

That's because this phone is available for all major carriers. The Epic was only for Sprint thus Samsung relied on Sprint to advertise who decided to push the Evo instead.
