when u get a notification on FB how long before the Tile informs you?
Well for me I dont get informed 99% of the times. Even in notifications hub the last notifications are hours old and it only get refreshed when i open the hub otherwise there is rarely any background updating. I have seen the tile show something maybe 5-6 times in 1 month now. what gives?
P.S I have add/removed the tile and restarted the phone.
It has worked pretty well for me. The other day it had stopped working but now its been fine...
I've got the Facebook app pinned to my start screen and when that notifies me I gnerally get a Me tile notification as well
I put me tile into my family contact group and use it exclusively to be able to retrieve my sent e-mail items faster. No problems with tile notifications though.
I see sporadic updates, but even when it does update, it doesn't really tell me much, other than the fact that I have something I need to go look for. Not really a "glance and go" tile at all for me.
For example, the last update I saw was (name changed) "John Smith and 3 other people commented on..." So I knew I needed to bring up the Facebook app. But I already knew that from looking at the notification badge on the Facebook app tile.

Well you dont need to bring up the app.. you can just go into the me tile and swipe to notifications. will bring up posts, tagged photos etc...
Since mango i've found i very rarely use the FB app any more.
I never use it. I just go to the social hub and see what's new.
Updates about every half an hour for me.
For Facebook, it's slower than email notifications, which usually comes almost instantaneously. But it's still useful in the sense that I can see what everybody is saying in the comment first before adding my own. It's better than going to IE9.
For twitter, it's really useful for alerting me about mentions. Since Twitter's email notifications rarely work anyway. Plus, there isn't a WP7 app that gives tile/toast notifications faster than the Me Tile, so I'll just be happy with my Me Tile.
I just have it there for the animation. It updates too slow to be useful for that. Its useful for checking in quickly, though. Facebook app notifications are way superior but I guess it can b useful for Twitter.

I actually prefer it to the Facebook App. Works fine for Facebook notifications which come as they arrive, bit slow for Twitter notifications though.
The Me tile works pretty good, maybe updating every 30 minutes or so. The strange thing is that when synced with my Facebook account it would only show me notifications that were directly related to me (my posts, ppl comment on my posts or pics), but now it is showing other people. Anyone know how this works?
Me tile's notifications work, but bages on facebook tile don't :/

And you missed the point. Whether it's the Facebook app or the people hub, the issue is the same. The tile doesn't give me useful information, just an alert that I have to go somewhere ELSE to get what I need. A badge would do the exact same thing.
so why is it that when I go into the me hub it refreshes and shows me updates that happened 2-3 hours ago :S why doesnt it get refreshed automatically and show it on the tile. it's pissing me off. this is a big reason why I got WP7 (social integration)

same problem !
I almost never require immediate notications so the ME tile works just fine for me.

if you are on WIFI then please note that wifi drops on screen lock/sleep. You need an active data connection E/3G
works well for me on my HD7 as well as on my arrive

Can you check if battery saver is turned on? I believe that push notifications stop if battery saver is on....only manual trigger refreshes notifications.

I had no problems listening to messages on the phone. When you open the transcribed message, click the play icon just above the transcribed text.

Koush, I have a question. Does your app support push notifications via WiFi only? For instance, I live in an area with no cell reception, and I'm forced to use wifi only. Will this app give me push notifications with just wifi on?
I'm using GoVoice and have been quite happy with it. Updates with feature improvements seem to be coming through on a regular basis. I just setup background notifications to the live tile and I am testing it out.

Well, Android phones by far have the best google voice app (obviously) I been using GoVoice and it seems to be working ok. Its a pain in the ass though, the fact that WIndows 7 cant multitask means that you have to start up GoVoice every single time it for me it just takes too long. The notifications are nice though, when you get a text message you'll see the notification at the top like you normally would with a regular text message.

after digging around the developers website i found the right instructions for getting the push notifications and live tile to work.
sucks that it doesnt make the directions too clear on the app and elsewhere...

so yea... even though you will have your gvoice set up to send u an email for new voicemails, the gvmax end will cancel those out so you wont receive those annoying emails...

are you referring to the number that appears next to the icon (to indicate number of updates)? if so, have you tried just restarting the phone. i think it's all related to the known bug with the market place at present which causes the market place to crash every now and then.
nah, restarts dont fix it. Still wants to update even though its been updated countless times.

That's a known bug with the "trial" version of a lot of apps... Not sure if you're using a trial, or "free" version which can be downloaded as a trial
Weatherbug, Weather channel, Flixter, none of the tiles are updating. I don't know why.

Just checked Flixster, and Enable Live Tile is ticked.I presume I did that when I first got it a week or so agnly after reading this thread did I think about it.It has never been a live tile since I pinned it to the homescreen on day of download.
All of mine stopped working recently, too. My Weather Channel and Stock tile are stuck at the same spot they were several days ago. My Focus also forgot all my passwords and I had to reenter them. I think I have to hard reset, but since there's no way to back up text messages now I'd really rather not do that.

I sucked it up and did a hard reset. Everything's updating normally now. MS really needs to come up with a solution for backing up text messages.
One nice feature I discovered in the process is that the Zune software keeps a cache of the transcoded files, so syncing 10GB of stuff was super quick. I go with 320kbps MP3 on the HTPC and bump that down to 192 on the phone.
I have had this issue before, when turning off WiFi at the office to reduce battery drain (since we have a hidden WiFi) and when enabling it back it just won't update, most of the time the internet connection is poor to non-existent on 3G or on WiFi at home (HD7 here)
Just a soft reset did the trick

I started having the same problem with the weather apps, before I returned the HD7 that I had.

I am also facing the same issue with weather apps. First i thought weather bug was not working and reinstalled it couple of times. Also tried weather channel and no use.
email push works fine.
You can tell if it's a push problem or not by testing out the Find My Phone option from your Live account online. If it says it can't use push notifications, you might have to hard reset.
i went to live account and clicked ring the phone and it didn't work for first time, tried again and worked.
i'm seeing the same "no update" behavior with Weather Bug, but Weather Channel is working fine. glad to know it's not only me with this issue. also, i'm able to ring my phone, so i don't know that my issue is "push" related.
Live tile server
Hi all
A live tile needs a dedicated server. If there is a problem with that server then the live tile will stop working. That is nothing to do with the device.
The Weatherbug live tile server seemed to have an extended period of down time but has now come back online again.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't live tiles only work if the application is tombstoned?
all 3rd party apps automatically get tombstoned/killed when they aren't visible. the live tile is a separate service and has nothing to do with the state of the application itself.

I guess you are right, this morning all my live tiles are working again with the exception of Beezz, and I think it's a problem on the application server.

On Facebook for Android facebook page they announced push notification.
Some of the comments says it works on Desire, and some dont.
I cant see any push notification on my Desire. (Modaco Rom v9)
Can someone confirm that it works or not?

And btw about chat: I personally never use it, but since this update I noticed, that it goes "online" to "offline" every couple seconds, when im on facebook on my PC. Facebook 1.5, no thanks.
Does that online without the update, FB chat is a waste of time

Push is chat only, apparently (cause of needing to know when someone replies). Rest is still as before
i get notifications in the notification bar for comments, not sure on likes yet, this is a new feature, once clicked it sends you to the notifications tray in the Facebook app, next time i get one i'll post a screenshot

i beg to differ. Messages, pokes, etc, all are instant now. unlike before where you had to wait half a day to get a message lol.

No cause you don't get that option. Push just means that as soon as you get a message/friend request FB will push the notification to your phone. Otherwise it'll continue to sync at its selected time, e.g. Every hour

its only for stuff like messages, pokes, friend requests and such. wall comments are sadly not pushed

Did also try to send my self a message to inbox. No notification.!!
Does not get any notification at all. Only when someone try to chat.

I tried it last night after the update with a few friends. All instant
Do you not have it set to notify? I get messages/friend requests but I turned off event invites as I get too many...I get an email and a notification when either arrive

Pokes definitely not working on my phone, and there's no notification option for pokes. Only Messages, friend requests and event invites so you can't get any more unless you have the option to activiate them

If you have twitter/fb synced to people's hub, how often do they update? Can we manually set update intervals? And is the only way to be notified of twitter mentions and FB messages/wallposts/comments through a live tile? Because i dont know how much info can a 1x1 tile give. Or do you get sound or toast notifications too?
Can we also set WHAT do we want to be notified of? Eg can I set to NOT be notified of any comments and keep it just for wall posts?

It shows up as a backside to your Me tile
It doesn't give you the actual details of the comment or whatever, you have to click through to the notification to see the details
There is no sound or toast notification
The phone app doesn't specifically allow you to set what you get notifications for, but I wouldn't be surprised if just used whatever settings that are on your fb account
what about update interval
I couldnt see an update interval setting, but they seem pretty much instant.
i know that the facebook app will do most of these things. u can set the interval, and there is a sound for notifications and other things, as well as a live tile displaying how many of there there are unchecked..

Sometimes it's nearly instant, but other times it takes ~1 hour. No idea what triggers the updates.

Facebook and Weatherlive still not working. This sucks. The only time they update is when I manually launch the apps.
At times I think the live tiles get stuck for a day or two. This seems to be considerably less with Mango and Mango enabled apps, however.
I don't know if Facebook is working now, but it was yesterday.
WeatherLive has refused to automatically update since I installed it. I don't think the problem is on MS's end.

Well it's been 10 days and bth apps have been uninstalled twice. There my only two apps that I turn on live tiles for.
If you look at the thread posted by the OP you'll see comments that the problem is still present.
I have been experiencing issues with Live tiles for my Whatsapp and Facebook app for around 2 weeks now.
If you have too many apps using push notifications, they stop working for some reason - I can't remember what the limit is, but try turning off push notifications on some apps and see if that works.
seem to work decent for MS apps - but most others don't update worth a ****
Weather Live refused to automatically update the live tile. I have Hong Kong Weather installed and it can automatically update the live tile with the current weather together with the update time stamp. This is not OS issue but the application problem. Weather Live needs to study and push the update to the exisiting buyer.
