i'm trying Go Voice, but there's no functionality to listen to the message on the phone like there is with Android. i have my GVoice account set to send me a text msg when someone leaves me a message. limited yes, but works for me (for now).

I had no problems listening to messages on the phone. When you open the transcribed message, click the play icon just above the transcribed text.

1.0 is a bit rough, but I just submitted 1.1 to the market to clean up all the issues and add more features

1.1 is not available for me in the US Marketplace. Do you have any idea when it will be?

Koush, I have a question. Does your app support push notifications via WiFi only? For instance, I live in an area with no cell reception, and I'm forced to use wifi only. Will this app give me push notifications with just wifi on?
I'm using GoVoice and have been quite happy with it. Updates with feature improvements seem to be coming through on a regular basis. I just setup background notifications to the live tile and I am testing it out.

Well, Android phones by far have the best google voice app (obviously) I been using GoVoice and it seems to be working ok. Its a pain in the ass though, the fact that WIndows 7 cant multitask means that you have to start up GoVoice every single time it for me it just takes too long. The notifications are nice though, when you get a text message you'll see the notification at the top like you normally would with a regular text message.

Did u have to set it up to recieve an email and/or sms for the live tile to update? My live tile for govoice wont update unless i open the program first

alright.
after digging around the developers website i found the right instructions for getting the push notifications and live tile to work.
sucks that it doesnt make the directions too clear on the app and elsewhere...

so yea... even though you will have your gvoice set up to send u an email for new voicemails, the gvmax end will cancel those out so you wont receive those annoying emails...
live tile works for me now.
Is there a way to get voicemain notifications similar to other ones (like SMS)? Won't do it for me.
EDIT: NVM it works. Just didn't get one the first time.
Is there a way to get the update notification to go away? My GF's HD7 has the update number on the live tile, but when we update it, it keeps saying it needs to update.

are you referring to the number that appears next to the icon (to indicate number of updates)? if so, have you tried just restarting the phone. i think it's all related to the known bug with the market place at present which causes the market place to crash every now and then.
nah, restarts dont fix it. Still wants to update even though its been updated countless times.

That's a known bug with the "trial" version of a lot of apps... Not sure if you're using a trial, or "free" version which can be downloaded as a trial

On Facebook for Android facebook page they announced push notification.
Some of the comments says it works on Desire, and some dont.
I cant see any push notification on my Desire. (Modaco Rom v9)
Can someone confirm that it works or not?
May be being stupid, but where should we see it, any ideas?

And btw about chat: I personally never use it, but since this update I noticed, that it goes "online" to "offline" every couple seconds, when im on facebook on my PC. Facebook 1.5, no thanks.
Does that online without the update, FB chat is a waste of time

i always have my chat on web set to offline - I hope this one doesnt keep making me online...
perhaps they'll be a 1.5.1 soon to fix the missing push
Push is chat only, apparently (cause of needing to know when someone replies). Rest is still as before
i get notifications in the notification bar for comments, not sure on likes yet, this is a new feature, once clicked it sends you to the notifications tray in the Facebook app, next time i get one i'll post a screenshot

i beg to differ. Messages, pokes, etc, all are instant now. unlike before where you had to wait half a day to get a message lol.

I've never has a notification for a poke, only for messages/friend requests

No cause you don't get that option. Push just means that as soon as you get a message/friend request FB will push the notification to your phone. Otherwise it'll continue to sync at its selected time, e.g. Every hour

Startet Facebook, and pressed the home button. But no notification. And I can see on web browser thare are people have comment on my posts.

its only for stuff like messages, pokes, friend requests and such. wall comments are sadly not pushed
It's not for pokes, just poked myself from my other FB account and got no notification
Did also try to send my self a message to inbox. No notification.!!
Does not get any notification at all. Only when someone try to chat.
Then I get notification in statusbar

I tried it last night after the update with a few friends. All instant
Do you not have it set to notify? I get messages/friend requests but I turned off event invites as I get too many...I get an email and a notification when either arrive

Pokes definitely not working on my phone, and there's no notification option for pokes. Only Messages, friend requests and event invites so you can't get any more unless you have the option to activiate them

when u get a notification on FB how long before the Tile informs you?
Well for me I dont get informed 99% of the times. Even in notifications hub the last notifications are hours old and it only get refreshed when i open the hub otherwise there is rarely any background updating. I have seen the tile show something maybe 5-6 times in 1 month now. what gives?
P.S I have add/removed the tile and restarted the phone.
It has worked pretty well for me. The other day it had stopped working but now its been fine...

I see sporadic updates, but even when it does update, it doesn't really tell me much, other than the fact that I have something I need to go look for. Not really a "glance and go" tile at all for me.
For example, the last update I saw was (name changed) "John Smith and 3 other people commented on..." So I knew I needed to bring up the Facebook app. But I already knew that from looking at the notification badge on the Facebook app tile.

Well you dont need to bring up the app.. you can just go into the me tile and swipe to notifications. will bring up posts, tagged photos etc...
Since mango i've found i very rarely use the FB app any more.
I never use it. I just go to the social hub and see what's new.
Updates about every half an hour for me.
For Facebook, it's slower than email notifications, which usually comes almost instantaneously. But it's still useful in the sense that I can see what everybody is saying in the comment first before adding my own. It's better than going to IE9.
For twitter, it's really useful for alerting me about mentions. Since Twitter's email notifications rarely work anyway. Plus, there isn't a WP7 app that gives tile/toast notifications faster than the Me Tile, so I'll just be happy with my Me Tile.
I just have it there for the animation. It updates too slow to be useful for that. Its useful for checking in quickly, though. Facebook app notifications are way superior but I guess it can b useful for Twitter.

I actually prefer it to the Facebook App. Works fine for Facebook notifications which come as they arrive, bit slow for Twitter notifications though.
The Me tile works pretty good, maybe updating every 30 minutes or so. The strange thing is that when synced with my Facebook account it would only show me notifications that were directly related to me (my posts, ppl comment on my posts or pics), but now it is showing other people. Anyone know how this works?
Me tile's notifications work, but bages on facebook tile don't :/

And you missed the point. Whether it's the Facebook app or the people hub, the issue is the same. The tile doesn't give me useful information, just an alert that I have to go somewhere ELSE to get what I need. A badge would do the exact same thing.
so why is it that when I go into the me hub it refreshes and shows me updates that happened 2-3 hours ago :S why doesnt it get refreshed automatically and show it on the tile. it's pissing me off. this is a big reason why I got WP7 (social integration)

same problem !
I almost never require immediate notications so the ME tile works just fine for me.

if you are on WIFI then please note that wifi drops on screen lock/sleep. You need an active data connection E/3G
works well for me on my HD7 as well as on my arrive

Can you check if battery saver is turned on? I believe that push notifications stop if battery saver is on....only manual trigger refreshes notifications.
So I am trying to find a way to get my email notifications to turn on and off at specified times. The reason is this. I have my work exchange email account on my Galaxy Nexus. When I am at work, I'm usually at my computer and thus can see all my email. Therefore I have my email notification turned off on my phone since I don't want to constantly clear notifications. But when I leave work, I'd like to have my email notification turned on so that I can be notified when I get a new email.
Is there anyway I can get the email notifications to be turned on and off at specified times in the day?
You can get one of the many apps to turn on/off notifications for times. Most of them are branded as "quiet hours" type apps for sleeping, but you could surely configure for different times during the day.
Tasker or Locale could surely do this too if you want it based on where you are to turn off notifications (i.e. turn off notifications at work, then enable when you leave).

I have considered that, but the problem is that I do not need to turn off all notifications. I just need to turn off the notifications for Android's stock email app. I still want to keep the rest of my notifications.

i know touchdown does exactly what you're talking about, you could always try like k9 mail or some other email app.

Enabling Always On Display will show you icons for pending notifications that you can glance over without touching or picking your phone
AON display is enabled but only when I tap: are you sayng that I shlioud enable AON on "ALWAYS"?
On my Xiaomi and Pixel even if AON is off, when I receive notifications the screen turns on...

I have the notifications set to show the edge color and the fireworks behind the notification preview. Is that what you mean, or do you want the entire screen on? (I have AOD always on, too. I don't wear a watch, so that's my clock and calendar, plus the notification list and what song is playing if I'm listening to music.)

I would like AOD off and screen turning on when receiving a notification: could nkt find a way.
So at the moment I have your same setup but... not all notifications get the edge color, some like emails do not. Seems that only notifications grouped under conversations do, but I find no way to change that.

I have mine set to match the color of the app, so like Instagram DMs are magenta and my different e-mail accounts match the color I've selected for them in the e-mail app (I use Aqua Mail Pro for personal and business e-mail acc'ts and also the Gmail app for my Gmail acc't, and Yahoo! app for that but I don't have notifications on for that one since it's my shopping/newsletter/Spam acc't). I also have a few keywords set up for certain contacts when they text, but I honestly haven't even noticed if that works 'cause I forgot all about it until I saw it when I was looking at the settings for you.

Was thinking of giving Aqua Mail Pro a try, but app hasn't been updated since October 2019. Nine has been the best for me.

For me with Whatsapp it does work, for Gmail and outlook doesn't

The Pro is just the paid unlocker app; the actual Aqua Mail app was updated just the other day (got a pop-up change log when I opened it recently). It is way cheaper to buy the Pro unlocker app one time than to subscribe yearly via the actual Aqua Mail app (there is no difference between the two; I asked them, and they are very responsive to customer e-mails). I had been using K-9 Mail, which hasn't been updated in years, and Aqua is way better. I especially like that I can use different fonts and colors in the e-mail and signature, and include my logo/any other image in my signature. The double-sided layout works well on the Fold 3 inner screen, too.

Yes, I use Gmail and the notifications with the edge colors and fireworks works fine, has since day one.
