In the latest Jiminy post by Deathsled, he mentioned the Jiminy mod is no longer necessary to get full functionality on a Cricket-Flashed Evo...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=784776&page=36
What is the reason for this?
About 6 months ago, I payed cricket store $100 for a full flash, and got no MMS...
I recently took my phone to someone on craigslist, and he got my MMS working, but now I have VERY slow 3G (10-30kbps down). He said he's working on it, but I figured I need to look elsewhere for guidance...
He told me he flashed it back to the stock Sense rom, and then flashed it to Jiminy.
Since then, i get about 10 major process crashes a day, and I have about 15-20 HTC/Sense processes running constantly that I never saw prior to this flash.
How can I get my phone working as it is intended to on Cricket, and not have erroneous processes eating all of my resources?
This has been a very long and tedious process to get a fully functional Evo on Cricket, and I just want it to be over... Ive sacrificed oto much time and money on all of this...
Thanks in advance guys, I know how helpful you all can be!

So, I *just* got an Evo. I mean just barely. While in the Sprint store, they ran the updates. That means that I have the newest OTA and an otherwise stock phone.
I've spent like 4 hours reading through stuff on here trying to wrap my head around everything. S-ON, S-OFF, ROM this, brick that... It's a little overwhelming. I'm a n00b, but not completely as I had rooted my Epic via ADB. (A painless process.)
So, now I'm trying to find out if root is possible with a stock phone with the OTA that they "graciously" installed for me. I'd like to at least take that step. Ideally I'd really like to try Fresh since apparently it's great, fast, and solid. But I'm having a heck of a time trying to find real info for n00bs that kind of walk a person through what everything means, how everything works, etc. Anyway...
My biggest question is can a stock/OTA'd phone be rooted yet? Thanks!

READ, READ, READ...then go for it. Then move on to a rooted ROM of choice.

Thanks! Between you & joeykrim on IRC I got it working. Pretty easy, actually. Don't notice any problems other than my battery has gone nuts since I rooted. Namely, Lost 10% in about 10 minutes and then charged it back up 5% and lost 20% over an hour at lunch. *shrug* Probably not related.
Ok this is a new problem for my phone. A couple weeks ago my phone started rebooting like crazy on CM7. I thought maybe it was the kernel so i switched it, that didnt work so i did a full wipe and installed the newest Nightly. That didnt work so i thought maybe it was Gingerbread (even though it ran it fine since it got cooked for the Inc) So i switched to an 2.2 AOSP ROM, that didnt work, so i switched to a Sense ROM. I have tried CM7, Skyraider, Magnolia, Business Sense Z, and now i am on Warm Z 2.2 and i am getting, no exageration, 15-20 reboots a day. No matter what ROM/Kernel combo i try. I also have the Battery Indicator widget in my notification bar that you can open and see what the battery temp is and i have never seen it hot. I can feel it rebooting in my pocket all the time. Phone calls make it reboot, music, navigation, all kinds of stuff. Sorry for being long winded, i just want to describe it the best i can. Does anyone know anything i can to to make it stop? Whenever i flash a new ROM i never restore Apps+Data, i only restore the APK's.
I called about a warranty replacement with the main reason being a blown external speaker, and they said they would do it. But here is why i havent. Somewhere along the lines VZW messed up something in my account and My Verizon online is telling me i am eligible for an upgrade even though im not. I called about it and she said i couldnt use my last NE2 untill Feb of 2012, then she checked the My Verizon and seen the same thing. She told me as long as i upgrade online or on my phone it will let me upgrade, but if i call in or go to the store it wont let me. Well i want the Thunderbolt with my upgrade, but i am afraid if i do a warranty swap it may affect my status on My Verizon somehow and not let me get that upgrade. I plan on selling the Inc after i get the Tbolt, but i dont want to sell it rebooting like crazy like this. Any input is appreciated.
I did the same with my HTC TP1 a week before i got my TP2 with the upgrade from VZW. I didn't have any problems.
Check setCPU or any app that would majorly change stuff on your phone. Such as ones that auto kill things. Turn all those off if you have any running.
You may just have bad hardware, in that case would suggest you going back to stock and advertising as such when you're selling.
Yeah i may end up taking a chance and doing a warranty claim.
I'am using CPU boost. You think that is causing it? It just started happening but i have been using the app for a while.

Well I uninstalled CPU boost and that didn't help. Anything else to try?

I've had this happen Verizon will replace it with a refurb. or at least they did for me...
Run the rru?

Thanks for the suggestions guys. i think I'm going to take the chance on unrooting and getting a refurb for it. Hopefully it won't fix whatever error is in the my verizon system and take my upgrade away.

Hey guys,
So this might be a n00b question to ask but i haven't seen any other posts on it for the Evo 4g.
I can make calls, but not receive them. I can send texts and people get them right away, but i don't receive them right away, I receive all my texts at once an hour or two later, sometimes a day later. I checked my system time and it was supposed to be 9:30 am but it said 4:45 pm, then it went back to 9:30 am about 5 min later.
It seems like a radio problem because my network works fine with facebook and heytel.
I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this, is it a network issue i need to contact sprint or is it a problem within the phone itself.
Is your evo rooted?
I had a similar problem but it was when i had a blackberry but it wasnt all the time. Sometimes i got texts almost a day later.
*Usually*, it is a network issue. You can try updating your profile in the settings menu. Also, it is not uncommon to experience such things while roaming.

Ya it's rooted with Unrevoked running Riptide w Calkulin 1.8.0
Haven't had any problems with it until yesterday, been running it ever since it came out.
I'm definitely not roaming.
Updated my profile and PRL
Gonna re-update, pull the battery for a few, and call sprint customer care. I read somewhere people have this issue when their phone is in forward mode, random for it to all of a sudden just happen unless the phone got dropped or shorted out somehow.
I had a friend have the same problem yesterday but he just went through insurance and got a new phone.
So you're right it could be a network issue and spending $ on a new phone to gamble on having the same issue doesn't sound like something anyone would want to throw money at.

Give it a day or two, you definitely don't want to pay for something you don't need.
Also, back up your current setup, calikulin format all, and try flashing something else to see if the problem is ROM based.
Thanks Green. Good words brothuh, i gotta older version of Fresh i'm gonna try that out.
I haven't seen any new worthy ROMs with the gingerbread so staying clear from that for awhile.
Unless you have one you would recommend trying out.

Flash a different kernel. It shouldn't have an affect on your issue, but, I've learned that anything us possible with smartphones.

Thanks Doug, not sure how to flash just the kernel but i'll look it up and post the results later today. Thanks for the tips!!
I tried reflashing the entire ROM and no dice. Think it's definitely a network issue. Going to sprint today, keep you guys posted.
I had the same problem and was on EVIO 1.8. I reflashed my PRI and that seem to have solved my problem. I tried many things but after flashing the PRI the phone has had no problems and that was about a month ago.
Here is my post to someone who had a similar problem as you.

I am painfully new to the community, so if you're frustrated easily this might be a bad thread to read.
Not too long ago, I picked up a desire (bravo) on kijiji (a buy/sell site, not really important). It had a much lower price than other comparable phones, and I would imagine it was because it is locked to Rogers and came with CM7 on it. At the time, I still had time on my old contract. Thinking I was up for the challenge of new technology i went for it. Being the curious guy I am I tinkered with it and found an abundance of Roms floating around on the internet, so wanting to know what was going on with this (understand that I knew nothing about the matter), I flashed AOKP 6. Honestly it is a very clean Rom, and up untill this morning I thought it was great. My contract ran out yesterday, so I activated my desire last night. It will not connect to the Rogers network. It is locked to Rogers and has a Rogers sim, so I'm not sure why it's doing this . I believe it did before I flashed AOKP6.
Any suggestions on how to get it to connect?
I need someone to hold my hand through the process of either flashing a new stable rom or fixing my current one.
Any help appreciated.

Ps. If my spelling is off, it's because Chrome broke.
Since you already installed AOKP6 before, I assume you're rooted and have a recovery installed.
Download a stable GB ROM like this and put it on your SD card and flash it from your Recovery. Thats it.
Read the OP of the ROM carefully to see if you meet all the criteria mentioned. Dont forget to do a clean wipe before the install.
Thanks for the reply. I went back to cm7 and tried a few others and came to the conclusion it was Rogers' fault. Now running Paranoid android jelly bean and everything is going well.

Hello all so I have recently swtiched to MetroPCS and the phone I currently have is a Samsung Galaxy S4 (M919N)
SGH-M919N
Version 4.4.4
It is completely stock.
After paying for the 60$ unlimited plan I guess now at the start of the month they include a free 6.7gb of data, or maybe it was only for the activation, because I haven't been with them in a while I'm not sure.
Regardless, I burned through that overnight, so I found this "Google Chrome Extension" that allows for unlimited hotspot.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6ejhaP2aJI
However it does allow me to browse, but at extremely slow speeds (~76kbps) and sometimes it doesn't even fully load webpages or it gives me a 403 FORBIDDEN error. When I was on the MetroPCS actual hotspot I was pushing 10mpbs so I know the speed is far faster.
Basically I am trying to figure out what I need to do to get the full speed and bypass this thing, I can even tether but again it's still slow as heck.
Also, I have a lot of MetroPCS bloatware on there, Rhapsody playlist is one of the things on the top of one of the home screens that I can't even move, I wanted to know what was the best custom recovery/ROM to install. I know there's a one click or one touch automatic root or something...but I'd prefer to do it the way I did my M7 unless it's recommended to do it that way.
I had the M7 for T-Mobile with ARHD installed and TWRP which was nice it was fully functional it was my first time for both of those types of mods and everything went smoothly. (~a month ago)
I switched phones because my HTC's headphone jack stopped working and I had a guy who was willing to trade me phones, his Galaxy was fully functional and even though I explained to him my phone wasn't completely he told me he fixes phones all the time, thus the trade was made.
But for this particular phone....especially considering it's MetroPCS I am having a God-awful time finding any information online especially regarding my issue. Also for those that say, "Just pay for more data" I am a broke college student and I use this to do my school work...aside from going to the library, which sometimes is way too packed and there's usually no where to sit (I'm a UofA student) this is the only way for me to do anything.
If anyone has any information tutorials etc I would greatly appreciate it, I read some forums but none addressed my issue and none seemed to lead me in the right direction. I don't HAVE to install a custom ROM right off the bat...I can deal with the bloatware but what I NEED absolutely right now is the full speed of the hotspot.
Thanks everyone!
