OK. I'm using the AccuWeather widget, and I love it, but I wanted it to auto update every hour, so I went to settings, and clicked to change the update time, and I get a pop-up saying there are additional charges if wi-fi is not used. So does that mean when auto updating using my data (edge,3G/4G) I'm going to get charged extra? I'm on an unlimited data plan, so I hope there are no "additional" charges just for using a stock app.
No worries no charge

Cool. I was assuming it means if I auto update without an unlimited plan I would get charged the normal data charge from my carrier. The wording threw me off.

What does this mean? I keep getting notifications that pop up and say Mobile internet traffic this month has exceeded the limit of #.##MBMB. Mine says now 4.08MBMB..
Anybody know what this is? Hope its nothing bad.

I think it means big bro knows you're tethering way too much
We're comin from a pure power source.
I don't tether at all. I've only tried it out a few times and that was months back. On my last bill statement I barely used 1gb of data. Something's up.

Hmmm, streaming a lot? Random app in the background or someone ripping off your wifi or hotspot?
We're comin from a pure power source.
if your using MIUI open up the "Tools" folder on homescreen then click on the monitor app. you can adjust settings there or turn it off completely. The whole Monitor thing is automatically turned on as soon as you flash MIUI ( I think) but doesn't mean anything bad per se.. Unless you have a limited data plan
I figured it all out. I went ahead and turned off mobile traffic since its un needed.

I keep losing data randomly and the only fix is to cycle airplane mode. Any idea what's going on?

I'm having the same issue but the app didn't fix anything. It only started the last week or two, and I've only been using CM10 and nothing else. I've flashed the different radios, including the new one, the L7? Did that today and still haven't noticed any thing different.
Not sure if it's the ROM after a certain date or something.
I have always had roaming on and national roaming on too. Never had issues in getting 4G until the data started cutting out completely.
Any other suggestions? I don't think apps are going to help.
It also seems that I'll have WiFi when the phone is on, but when I put it to sleep, it switches to data. When using data in the car and I put the phone to sleep, then it goes from data to no-data.
Real frustrating.

That app is just a gimmick... why else would it hide the status bar? It most likely just toggles airplane mode like i have been.
same issue also I am on codefirex 11/11/12 build. for me I will lose 3g after approx 30 mins of use and then no service....so I reboot the pH and I get 3g back.

Yes, use it now (Ulitmate) I have found nothing wrong personally. Mine's set for Data on with screen on, Data off screen off.. I don't have a schedule set or anything (i'm always off and on the phone anyway) does increase the battery life a bit.. Download, try it for a bit.. see what you think overall.
I did use it before, just the light version. it was indeed a battery extender. But now I am using ON(X).

Nope. IMO, battery saving apps like Juice defender burn more battery than they claim to save.

What does that app do?

Juice defender WILL help. I get about 24hrs to a charge. It simply disables data/location/wifi when not in use and can be customized to run different ways for different apps
-SlimBean...the bulimic's choice for the Galaxy III
Hope this helps. It's fully customizable and it does wonders. U can train it to learn your wifi and after a while, never touch the toggle again. Use it for games so they don't go online and pick up those annoying ads (if your unrooted). And u can schedule when the net comes on to get emails and so forth when your not touching you phone.

I've the free one. It works out pretty well. Same usage I've got on average two to three extra hours.

Been using Ultimate from the beginning and if set up correctly is the difference between night and day for battery life. It works very well with no problems whatsoever on my end.
+1 When setup properly it can save a lot of juice. Or turn data off when not needed it will save a little more than using JD. But I rather have JD running so things are seamless. For Streaming audio like Spotify I find setting for enable/screen off works the best.

Be honest and tell people you have an extended battery.
i got a small issue with JD ultimate:
i set it quite correctly i think, but then, it prevents datas from coming to my phone, even when they're enabled.
let me explain better:
i set it so datas are off when screen is off and on when screen is on.
so i turn my phone on, datas take smth like 5 to 10 seconds to enable, everything normal till here, then the small H or G appear meaning i'm connected through 3G, but even then, i'm still offline... i wait, and wait 5 mins, but still, the H or G is visible on top right of my screen but.. no data.
i disable juice defender, restart my phone, didn't solve.
then i uninstall it completely, restard my phone, and everything works fine again...
anyone could help me on this one?
My Galaxy S III had a really big battery drop. Why is Gallery, Chrome, and Polaris Viewer taking up a combined 10-20% of the battery? How do I fix it?
Thanks!
P.S. I am completely stock and unrooted.

Do you leave them on (don't close them after use)?
Try closing them in running apps if you already exit them properly.

I always close all the apps I've finished using it (by holding down the home button), and it seems now that those three are always open.

Like I mentioned, go in settings -> manage application -> running applications and manually stop them.
If they restart on their own, then something is triggering them (most likely a app or setting).
I went into the Settings, and Android is showing that while they are using up battery, they are not running. And also, over the past hour, Android OS is using up 18% and Android system is using up 16%. Aren't they supposed to use up like 4% each?

Simply being connected to Google Now can be a big battery drain. Definatly something to look into.
Do you have auto sync on? the more things you sync, the more battery drain you get.
OK. And the only app I have enabled to sync is the email client, which only syncs once an hour.

Is there a certain apn I could use to only send mms and not have data turned on or be used by background app data (T-Mobile)?
Sent from my SGH-T679 using xda app-developers app
I don't think there's a way to do that, but you should actually still get MMS with your data turned off. You just won't be able to view it till you turn on data for like a few seconds. If its your data you're afraid going over or wasting only turn on to download your MMS messages which, like I said, should only take a few seconds where it'd be hard for many other apps to really get to also use it.
