I was wondering if someone can fix the issue where tasker is not able to turn on gps by its self. I knew it could not do it on stock gingerbread but it could do it on stock sense. and anyone working on getting BLN on our SGS2?
can i bump?

sorry if this is really bringing a thread back from the dead, but there's a free app called Secure Settings that enables GPS to work in Tasker.

Thanks a bunch! Been just waiting for CM so i could turn gps on again with tasker.. lol
Didn't realize that existed.
BLN also works, but was the request for it to work VIA Tasker?
You need a kernel that supports BLN.

fyi, after you install Secure Settings, use it by making a task and go to Plugins to use GPS.
Woah saw this theead bumped after a while. I found out about secure settings thank you

Juggernaut, the ROM has it as a setting. As far as I know that's the only ROM you can do that with.
in the STOCK Tmo ROM it's listed as
Stay awake
Screen will never sleep while charging
on/off feature
in Settings > Applications > Development
i know... the most non related area to put that feature in
they should have put it in Display or something obvious

That's where it is in most other phones/ROMs, but it is NOT in the stock tmo ROM. Unfortunately.

my bad i guess that's from the Juggernaut ROM then
yeah, i'm so used to seeing it there in CM and stock AOS ROMs
Can a Dev confirm if the stock ROM has the capability for this option, by adding a line in like build.prop or something?

I hate to bump, but is there seriously no ROM chef here that knows how to enable this on stock roms?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
Try the app "StayAwake". The app lets you toggle to stay awake while plugged into a AC/USB.
Just be careful... AMOLED will burn in.

This option is enabled in our rom Juggernaut which is based on the stock TMO rom. So the answer is obviously yes to all of the above lol.
on my phone at least, this option is reset every time i reboot. it did it with the android tweak app before and after i rooted and it has done that with the juggernaut rom with every release they have put out.
I by no means take credit for these but I can confirm they are working for me. I got these from the Skyrocket forums:
To fix the power off/reboot freeze issue do the following:
Make a CWM Nandroid backup of the ICS ROM. Then do a restore of the backup you just made without wiping anything. Reboot and test it out. It worked perfect for me.
Not sure why it works but it must have something to do with the restore scripts being used. They must somehow correct the power off/reboot issue.
To fix the portable hotspot issue do the following:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24134762&postcount=25
This has been tested by me and it works like a charm.
If I helped you please hit the thanks button.

Unfortunately I think the auto-rotate issue is kernel related so we have to wait for a specific kernel for our phones. I downloaded an app from the market "Auto-Rotate Status Bar Switch" and it seems to work pretty well.
ok thanks will try it right now and I leave at 6 am for my job and I have much time for that lolll
That app doesn't help. Still rotates into landscape when I'm in a portrait mode.

dude, as you can clearly tell from the rest of this forum, no one has a fix for it yet. be patient. besides, the OP isn't trying to address the auto rotate problem in the first place..
OP, i will try out the fix, thanks.
I am patient. Just wondering how to use that app that's all. Couldn't figure it out. Rotation locker works best for me so far

Told me tethering is not supported ???
Samsung galaxy s2 almost ics lol
so im using Ravers blackedition rc3, with the ICS theme designed for rc2.
originally, rc3 had the shutdown/restart thing fixed, but flashing the theme broke it.
i tried your method but no luck for me.
im sure this still probably can work for those not using any themes tho
Yea what ROM are you running cause I tried both fixes and no luck
Samsung galaxy s2 almost ics lol
i am trying your method to get tethering to work...i followed your instructions and everything was good up until setting it up...i got to the skyrocket connected part...but when i hit my menu button nothing happens...i dont get the menu to set the SSID and pw
my laptop can pick up the skyrocket signal but it asks for a pw...and i dont know what it is since i didnt set one
edit: found your original thread and read the comments from another user...you have to tap on the word hotspot and then go into that page and then hit menu to configure...thanks!

i have the skyrocket and i had to flash the att kernel to make the screen auto-rotate correctly. when i did that i lost the wifi sharing. can i use a tmobile kernel to correct the screen issue and get wifi sharing back? i do know that the kernel is the culprit! any suggestion?
current setup:
SLICKM0d 3.5 04.12.2012 (awesome rom)
blaze radios (barely 3g but it works)
att kernel
any help would be great!!!
You can use a tmobile kernel and wifi sharing should work, but your auto rotation will be backwards.

OR
i could install an att rom, kernel, and just use a tmobile radio? or will i be running into issues?
wifi calling matters but not that much. wifi tether matters!
I have searched and tried everything I could think of or find. The commercial makes this feature look great and want to give it a shot, but I can't get it working, any ideas?

Settings > Language and input > Voice cmd for apps needs to be ON. Also click on it and make sure the Incoming calls box is checked.
Just double checked that is turned on and unless I have to yell or something to make it work... It still continues to ring when ever I say answer or reject

I've never actually used it so I don't know how well it works...I'm going to try it now. Maybe it isn't recognizing your voice.
EDIT: Didn't work for me. Maybe it is broken in Blazer (I'm running Blazer 1.7) or it didn't work that good to begin with.
On blazer as well. Reject seems to work and answer works too.

Seems hit or miss. I do have to kind of raise my voice. Probably because the ringtone is loud.
I'm not sure if this matters but my phone is on vibrate does that matter?

This is a cool feature, but I had trouble getting it to work with the FreeGS3 rom as well.
Vibrate has to be off in stock Rom. Not sure about blazer prolly off.

I could not get a handle on whats going on with it. Sometimes it snaps on, other times it takes forever or not at all. It's really weird. Right now I'm tethered over wifi so it's working.

Known current issue with the rom. It doesn't handle the /0 folder properly. I just formatted my sdcard to fix the issue, then pulled my data back over.
This is only the 2nd public build for GNex that China has made, so there are gonna be bugs.

init.d support, fixed GPS, fixed TCDMA-64, some kernel optimizations, WAY more stock icons, and weather enabled lockscreen (still not perfect on that,) hosts file patched to block ads, AdFree app is installed (can't get it from Play Store anymore.)
Next build should have a lot more though.
