I rooted my Epic 4g touch.
I cant get it to go past the start up screen.
I can however put the phone into dowload mode.
I can also get to clockwork.
Ive even reflashed with odin but nothing i do will go past the boot screen.
the boot screen changes everytime i flash but never progresses past this.
please assist, i had a ton of errors with starburst rom, but i watched the video and the comments said to format and that is what caused this issue.
please help in anyway you can.
i really need my phone back up its my only point of contact
This is becoming RIDICULOUS. I completely understand people posting in the Dev sercion every ONCE and a while...but this is happening every day. PEOPLE PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU POST! /endrant
im not on here every day sorry... where should i have posted it? i dont mean to offend i just want help...
and what i dont understand is rather than help me resolve the issue you took the time to instead scold me for being in the wrong section?
NOTICE: If You did not create the ROM, KERNEL, FIX, MOD, APP, HACK, GUIDE, or if it's not a SOURCE CODE then it should go to Epic 4G Touch General as it doesn't belong in Development.
If your thread can be phrased as a question, it DEFINITELY doesn't belong in Development either. If you post it in Development it will be moved/closed and you may get an infraction or a ban.
There are rules to follow here. They are at the top of each subforum.
how do i delete this thread?
i reposted it in the q and a section can one of you GURUs help me delete the thread? in order to stop the replies ?????? or is it more functional to keep talking about it instead of helping me remove it since clearly none of you intend to help.
im so lost what you are trying to say

I think he may be saying that posting this in the proper section probably would get you the right attention you need. Clearly this is a development forum and not for asking questions. They have a Q&A section for that. In your haste to get your phone up and running..you wanted help from the community & you may of posted here in error. Just in the future if you would like to get the proper help I suggest making sure you are not asking a question that has been asked over and over and post in the correct section... Just trying to help
Now have you tried flashing with Odin the back to stock rom? Also in CWM try wiping cache and dalvik cache then reboot. I used to have same issue getting stuck at boot screen and that cleared things up for me at least. Good luck and dont get mad at someone for pointing out a mistake...It unfortunately happens alot in xda.. Just say my bad and move on
this will help.. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?deskto...e.com/watch?v=tAn3vOlLjZE&v=tAn3vOlLjZE&gl=US

I followed directions on rooting my HTC Evo and now it is for sure rooted. I know because i successfully uploaded the new ROM RM6 which is great! My only problem is i have no idea how to add my old apps, contacts, or anything else back on the phone. I did do a back up and saved it on my computer before i did anything, so i know all my information is at least somewhere safe. So i guess my question is how do i get apps, my contacts, and is it possible to put the android market back on my phone? Thanks so much i appreciate all the help i can get!

Your contacts should be synced with your Google account. Once you restore your account you should get them back.
Also, I agree that there is no need to be rude. You posted in the wrong place and what's done is done, so for those of you playing thread police, I suggest if you're not going to help, then don't comment at all.

Koush twittered that we had a treat coming our way last night. I downloaded the latest update to Clockwork Mod and noticed that when we select a recovery for the Epic it now asks if you have manually installed a version of Recovery and if so it asks what version. Basically, I want to know what this does for us. I know previously if you tried to install a rom from the Rom Manager, it would fail do it automatically and you would have to manually do everything from the recovery. Does this change make the Rom flashing process automated?
v4.0.0.8 is the version I'm talking about.

You obviously like to pick and choose the rules you follow. Isn't "no flaming" part of the guidelines to posting?
But I'm sure you don't need to read the rules atop that high horse of yours.
Last time I checked stating an observation wasn't flaming.
In fact you're actually getting closer to flaming by trying to directly insult me if I want to be pedantic. But I'm not going to argue with somebody on the internet.
Hopefully we can get an official recovery for the epic. I love my wife's recovery amon ra. I wish we could get that.

So phone is rooted with CWM.. Got system update and went to install now and it rebooted,, It went into CWM and it sayd package failed, it will nto update.. any ideas? Help!!!
Thanks
Phone is Stock Rooted with CWM
You have to be on stock firmware(no root, busybox, or cwm/twrp) and have stock recovery, otherwise the install will fail.
Use the search button.
As a summary if you have a custom recovery, you can't install system updates.

SO if that is the case, Is there a way to stop it from updating so i do not get that message anymore?

Just accept the update and let it fail henever the notification comes up. Thats the only way to get rid of it, at least until it decides to pop up again.

The failure point was, as I said, the lack of an image to flash. He basically wiped everything and flashed nothing but a radio. No image = no boot.

because you used a toolkit, which does all the work for you..
Like he said, it is much more complicated to know what happened (yes!! We don't know too!!). Was it the toolkit? Was it because you're on windows or scripts often don't supply enough info on what went wrong, if any at all? Do you even know where does system.img comes from?
Start fresh by reading how Google tells you to flash a factory image. Then read the stickies, and not the toolkit one.

Dude, there's a lot of threads about restoring a nandroid. And Mr. Hofs described clearly how to restore it.
Put it in your cwm folder, and in the backups folder, if you don't have one, make it.
Go to your cwm, and just restore it. This is soo simple, and use the goddamned frigging search next time.
