Gmail stopped working a while ago due to change made in Gmail v2.3.5. I always kept a backup of an older version but now they've blocked that from sending/receiving mail so you have to update and lose the functionality.
Facebook still works for me though. Try clearing the cache and re-authenticating through the launcher pro settings. There's a special forum for LauncherPro, you;re better off asking there rather than the SGS apps forum.
I've been using Android Pro Widgets instead lately, give that a try!
Thanks danny. I followed your advice.

there's a workaround for gmail, it is not very easy to do though.

uninstall lpp, unistall gmail, install modded apk, reinstall lpp and you're done.
Cool - there must be a pre-modded Gmail apk somewhere out there, no way I'm gonna go through all those steps...
EDIT: Found one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1199518
EDIT AGAIN: Turns out the modded apk will allow other apps to read your emails, safer way is to sign both the Gmail app and LauncherPro APKs with APK Manager and reinstall them both - works fine for me!

I'm pretty sure that you need "voice" for your market to work properly...other than that, that list seemed fine

I have a user in my office with an incredible 2. His Calendar app mysteriously dissappeared. It still lists as having a service running in the app management, but we can't find a way to open it, and the calendar entries on the widget do not seem to be syncing or updating. This is a totally stock verizon phone. We would rather not hard reset it to get the calendar back. Anyone know how we might be able to fix it without rooting it? Is it possible to reinstall the calendar app from an APK? Does anybody have the APK to do that? Thanks in advance.
Try going to settings applications find calander clear cache and anything else.

Did a data clear on the app (cache was already empty) and tried a force stop to see if it was hung, but no change. It's like the shortcut from the apps list and whatever settings are applied to the widget so that it can open the app have been deleted.
Issue with the stock firmware. Only fix is a factory reset. This is the main reason I rooted and changed ROMs.

Good to know. I'll pass that along.
Hello guys!
I am actually one of the few that enjoys Samsung's SNS thingy - I open up a contact and see their Facebook status and whatnot.
I also change ROMs often, and I end up reinstalling or restoring all the SNS components, which forces me to re-join contacts, manually delete duplicate birthdays and whatnot.
Is there a replacement you know of? I mean, an independent contacts app which syncs to Google and Facebook (and possibly Twitter, LinkedIn) and does the contact management externally? That way, whenever I install a new ROM, I will just restore this app and have my contacts as they should.
Any help would be appreciated!

I tried googling it but didn't find any. Can you post the market link?
I am trying to replace the stock contact app altogether - it may sync with Google, but I want it to be rom-independent. Like Dolphin to browsers and GoSMS to messages.
Have a look at this:

It doesn't help, and I even bought it...
No solutions, eh?...
contacts by contapps ltd (search contapps) in the market.
SmartR contacts beta by Xobni in the market.

Tried them both. They both don't help as they just display the existing contacts - so I am still required to use Samsung's SNS to sync the Facebook data. My point is to stop using SNS but remain with the same functionality.
I'm giving up
Probably forfeit the need to use the SNS features.
I can't get the new hangouts app installed in my galaxy s4. It says it is already installed, but when I press open, it opens the old talk app. Any thoughts?
We need the new Google play services for it to work.

If u already have google music installed on your phone just go to play market and update the app. The new hangout apk is above with all the other apks if needed!!
I had to install hangouts from my pc

The new hangout sucks!!! Big time!
I need to know the online status of my friend before I send them a message, I do not want to message ppl while they are in the middle of something.
Also, after install Hangout, Google Play Services seem to be a HUGE battery drain!!!

There is a green under their photo that tells you they are online. Also their photos are bolder than people who are offline.

No, there isn't. Not in the Android app at least. The green underline is visible only in the browser version.
To me Hangout is a HUGE step back compared from Talk.
I can't get no notifications at all...

Hey
As someone else mentioned, which is the method i used as well, use your Desktop and go to the google play store, find hangouts and it will let you install, choose your S4 from the devices list, and bam, force-update over Gtalk. You're welcome.
P.S. I suggest you install from the Play Store. Also, notifications work entirely fine for me.
Does anybody know how to delete pictures stored on the gallery from when u send a pic in hangouts it automatically saves them, kinda of annoying. Thanks

The method I used is if you're rooted just uninstall Google Talk w/ Titanium Backup, go into the Play Store and download/install Hangouts.
Just an alternative method from what's been stated.

Is anybody using this app?
Just trying to get recommendations on alternate contact apps. Not a fan of lg. I wish i could get the stock people app that google uses on nexus 4. I miss that one
Check out exDialer. It's a 14 day trial (I think, might be 7) then you need to get the pro license, but you can snag it off of Blackmart for free(; There's also contacts+ if you're into the whole "cluttered" look and there's always GO Contacts Ex. (BLEGH) I recommend the first
contacts+ is really good. it is a text messaging, dialer, and contacts app
I like DW Contacts and Phone.
