Things from Arc should work fine on Arc S? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'll buy a Xperia Arc this holiday, but I was thinking in buying Arc S instead (better CPU, compared to Arc overclocked).
The point is, the procedures and the rest of the things (bootloader, root, themes, ROMs) from Arc works fine on Arc S?
Sorry for English, btw

It's the same phone just updated .

Thanks for the answer. I was thinking that something had changed (Baseband, for example).
In eBay, the price of both models are the same. I'll go on Xperia Arc S.
I'm with the app, otherwise, I'd use the thanks button

Xperia Arc:Hiccups and frequent hanging after ICS 4.0.4 update

My Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc have been experiencing hiccups and frequent hanging after i updated the OS from Gingerbread 2.3 to ICS 4.0.4. This happens when:-
1. a miscall is received.
2. sometimes when loading Gallery images or pictures .
3. Loading applications like CamScanner.
Can this been happening due to the mobile hardware configuration not upto the specification required by ICS 4.0.4. or due to a bug in ICS ?
try to repair with PCC or flash the FTF again
Same on my Arc. Skype hangs or just closes and for next start takes long time. Dialpad takes up to 10 sec to load. Phone restarts all byitself. Did after update factory reset. Than repair from pc companion and again factory reset but it still does same things.
I am seriously thinking about getting back on GB
Phone: Xperia Arc LT15I

Try flashing the Global Generic World and see if it makes any difference via Flashtool.

Mine too. Did a repair once with PCC, but didn't resolve problems. Even had problems typing this damn message. Reboots, freezes, etc. Sony crap, as usual.

Try to remove the Sony crapware. Two good lists here and here. Or automatic tool here.
It work like a charm for me.

[Q] Arc S can't play heavy 3D games. Why???

So...this may seem a noobish question...but i don't think it is so.
Today I made an experiment, a test between some devices to see how they played good 3D games. I chose for it:
1: Sony xperia arc s, with stock ICS rom and kernel.
2: Samsung galaxy s 2, with stock ICS rom and kernel.
3: Samsung old galaxy tab p1000 7inches (single core 1ghz cpu and 512mb Ram), with Aokp rom and kernel.
And I tried to run:
A: Temple run.
B: Babel rising 3d.
C: Castle master 3d.
And what I got???
Both Samsung devices could play every game of the 3 perfectly.
ARC S MANAGED TO PLAY ONLY TEMPLE RUN. The other two games started then freezed. And freezed the phone till I had to remove battery.
Try by yourself, installing and running castle master 3d from play(free game).
So...WTF?????? Is this a low Ram problem??? Why the hell the arc s, with a better hardware than the old galaxy tab, can't play quite heavy 3d games????
I always thought this was a low ram issue, back on gingerbread I could run GTA 3 perfectly, on ICS however it starts then freezes.

Ok, I thought that too, but so...why could I play every game in the market with my old galaxy tab that has got only 512 mb ram and is running Ics???

Using ICS on Arc/S is not good for gaming...
-Game can force close
-Crash
-Freeze (every 2mins)
-Rarely reboot the phone

ok, i saw it by myself, but why?? the system in arc s ics cannot free enough ram to play a game that runs smooth on other older devices?? can we do something more than just downgrading to gingerbread?? or the answer is that we have a crappy phone and we should take it as ****ty as it is?

Never. I'll never install the rom of a copycat. the worst rom in the forum. However, I tried each other rom and the problem persists. So it must be a sony base problem.

How is a copycat? -.-, and its not a sony base problem its ICS -.- if i played heavy 3d games on GB it will work fine!

Maybe it is because the system takes up more ram on the arc s than on the galaxy tab, so there is less available for the user. I think there is an app or something that can make your phone use some of the SD card as ram, That could help?

Yeah that's it! But never mind because....
I found a solution!
Now my 3d game I wanted to run was GTA 3. Whenever I tried, it would play for around 30 secs and then finish. I thought it was a ram issue, but I tried over clocking, now I never thought it would make a difference as because I'm on stock kernel it cannot go past the already reachable 1400, but I set the minimum from around 200 to around 1300 and the maximum to 1400, and now it can run GTA 3! Whenever I'm not playing I'll just change it back.

Yeah sorry :/ just tried it again, ran buttery smooth for 30s then closed.
I'm not sure I want to try the swap because I heard it can reduce SD card lifespan, and i can't find my other SD card.

You can flash older baseband, but will not solve your problem. I've tried that... Phone is working well, but the 2g bug is present with the older baseband too.

Thought,it would solve it.Have to switch to another rom.I never considered Sony as bad,but now they are changing my opinion

If Sony will not solve it,means we can't use jb :banghead:

custom ROM didn't solve the issue either

Well, I flashed eXistenz v2 JB custom ROM but the 2G issue is not resolved. Though it's not as worse as it was in the official Sony JB firmware, 2G still goes into dormant mode sometimes.
What's puzzling me is, 2G worked seamlessly on ICS and it still works that way when you roll back (yeah, I tested this); Bobber says baseband is not the issue, then what the heck is causing this?
Insights requested from anyone who can help. I am ready to experiment, in fact I am posting this after I did a lot of that.
P.S.: Bobber, please share how to flash ICS baseband on JB. I'll try that nevertheless.

So my beloved Arc S is broken..

Whenever I listen so music or watch a video, the phone reboots after ~20 seconds. No matter which ROM or which kernel. :crying:
3D applications which don't require sound like benchmarks run flawlessly. So I guess it's a speaker problem..
I don't want my Arc to die! :crying:
Even with a all clean stock Rom?
Sent from my Xperia Arc S using xda premium
Yup.. even then.
Tried GB, ICS and JB / CM, no help.
Very strange failure. It will even reboot when I listen to ringtones in the ringtone browser or when I rapidly press any buttons on the phonepad when phonepad sounds are turned on.
It might be a hardware issue then..

Xperia Play Graphic Error

As The title say im encountering a weird Graphic Error on my Xperia Play r800i
I Was using the Xperia NXT Gaming Rom with Lupus Kernel GB
Everything worked Perfect until i installed The Chanfire 3d Graphic Driver to Play Nova 3 on higher graphics.
The first few days everything work normally but then i had some problems with the Graphics i tried Unninstalling the Chainfire 3d Driver but that didnt change anything
3 days after that everytime i start up my phone it showed something like that what you can see in the picture in the attachment on my display but not after booting the rom my phone showed that while booting the kernel and while running the rom and even in recovery so i used fastboot to erase everything the i flashed the Xperia Turbo Kernel 1.3 and i still have the same bug

THX for your post but.
Did you ever read the diclaimer of a custom kernel, unlocking the boot loader voids the warranty so why should i send my Xperia Play to Sony.
And i want to repair it myself if thats possible.
here is a thread to repair the screen of the play go have a look
