Xperia Arc:Hiccups and frequent hanging after ICS 4.0.4 update - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc have been experiencing hiccups and frequent hanging after i updated the OS from Gingerbread 2.3 to ICS 4.0.4. This happens when:-
1. a miscall is received.
2. sometimes when loading Gallery images or pictures .
3. Loading applications like CamScanner.
Can this been happening due to the mobile hardware configuration not upto the specification required by ICS 4.0.4. or due to a bug in ICS ?

try to repair with PCC or flash the FTF again

Same on my Arc. Skype hangs or just closes and for next start takes long time. Dialpad takes up to 10 sec to load. Phone restarts all byitself. Did after update factory reset. Than repair from pc companion and again factory reset but it still does same things.
I am seriously thinking about getting back on GB

Try flashing the Global Generic World and see if it makes any difference via Flashtool.

Mine too. Did a repair once with PCC, but didn't resolve problems. Even had problems typing this damn message. Reboots, freezes, etc. Sony crap, as usual.

Try to remove the Sony crapware. Two good lists here and here. Or automatic tool here.
It work like a charm for me.

If you have problems being recognized by flashtool try Sony Ericsson Update Service (the previous software). I had my Phone dead and it worked with SEUS.

[Q] .119 ICS Reboots

so i did full wipes during all my installs. no back ups were made.
before root i did notice a few random force closes on play store and messaging and browser before running new root steps. after reboot i've enjoyed a fully rooted ION for about 48 hours now. today i've had 3 random reboots. all have occurred while listening to music in walkman. one was while i was messing with EQ in sound enhancement... literally i just hear a messed up auditory squeal and then everything freezes and it reboots. wtf!
will try and grab a logcat here soon when i have time. in class atm.
just curious if anyone else has experienced any weird behavior since the latest lt28i ICS flash
I am still on LT28h but have seen this issue a couple of times now. Have not been getting random reboots but have had a few times where it will squeal and lock up.

Agreed, I've had no issue on 233fw. I switched back from 19fw, just didn't see any reason since everything was running perfectly on 233.
I haven't had a problem with this so far, butI did with the lt28h before. I just switched to the lt28at ics yesterday.

What problems? I'm on ATT running 233, pretty much flawless performance.
I used them all - non gave random reboot. I flashed back to .119 international fw, I like phone word search better than number search. And don't have to deal with AT&T bloatwares.

I have trouble with the phone restarting while I am listening to music on the walkman app. Usually only when I am also using a GPS tracking app like endomondo or runkeeper.

Weird I just realized I was also using GPS...

I'm on the lt28i latest firmware and I've had two crash reboots, and like the blue screen of death. No Walkman or gps, just stand by. Anyone also still experiencing this?

I have flashed all the Roms except the at&t ones. But never had this reboot issue.
You guys are the first one to report this. If it is frequent, then it might be some thing to do with the hardware.
Taking it to a service center is a better option.
Ok I had this happen only once in an extream accident situation. Fist I have lt28i ics 119.
So had walkmen running in background was removing bloatware and accidentally opened a game. As soon as the game booted I got a blue screen and a reboot. Luckily I had a log recorder going and it was as follows.
Device has crashed due to an excess of. The app overheat control has rebooted your device. The temperature was +77c
So retried freezing this app and repeated the process and my phone did not crash but was terribly laggy so I adjusted my cpu frequencys and tried again and no lag no overheat no reboot.
This could be your problem. I recommend a temperature widget to keep an eye on this. Please reenable the overheat controll after its purpose is to protect our device.
Good luck.

Never had this issue, what rom are you on? I used the stock rom for about five minutes before flashing a xda rom so I do not know of this issue. What version of the phone are you on? LT28at , LT28i, LT28h?
I'm wondering if you have some back up/sync thing wigging out on you.

Factory reset after a couple of mods?

Okay so since I got my Nexus 7, my arc s seems insanely slow (this is conspirancy, I'm telling you), its freezing a lot to the point where it's as slow as my previous Galaxy Spica.
Now, I'm running rooted stock, with Xperia S keyboard and lockscreen and modified systemui, im curious what will happen if I press factory reset inside settings? Or am I better off flashing ftf with Flashtool?
Any other reason why it would all of a sudden start acting like a snail?
Thanks!

So my beloved Arc S is broken..

Whenever I listen so music or watch a video, the phone reboots after ~20 seconds. No matter which ROM or which kernel. :crying:
3D applications which don't require sound like benchmarks run flawlessly. So I guess it's a speaker problem..
I don't want my Arc to die! :crying:
Even with a all clean stock Rom?
Sent from my Xperia Arc S using xda premium
Yup.. even then.
Tried GB, ICS and JB / CM, no help.
Very strange failure. It will even reboot when I listen to ringtones in the ringtone browser or when I rapidly press any buttons on the phonepad when phonepad sounds are turned on.
It might be a hardware issue then..

Haven't you sent your phone for repair ?
