Hi all!
I'm a little noobish on Android and customizing it, but I've been playing around and I've been trying to install Sense 3.0 Roms like:
Cool3D RunnyMede v2
Cool3D AceS v3
Aurora v03
Aced Off!
PyramidMod007
And every time when I try to install them I would get stuck at the HTC Splash screen(quietly brilliant); it would just constantly reboot that screen for some reason. I've tried letting it sit for 30 minutes but nothing happened
Here's what I have on my phone:
Revolutionary CWM
Bravo PVT1 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.17.05.23
And my installing procedure is:
1. Backup current nandroid
2. Delete cache, delete user data, delete dalvik cache
3. Install ROM
4. Install the rom converter CM7 --> HBoot.zip
5. Install Dalvik cache to ext. zip file
6. Reboot
I've actually tried installing them on CM7 too, but I reverted back to HBoot because my current rom requires Stock hboot.
Any help would be awesome! Thanks!
Try installing one at a time, rebooting between each one.
That's very weird something u are doing wrong for sure but can't understand what from what u wrote because there is no way that roms with sense 2.1 works and others with 3 no... It's impossible

What I did was backup and install one rom at a time, and when it doesn't work I revert back to my original rom, then I would try installing another one hours after or something, and I just repeated the process. I didn't install one on top of another.
@ halaros2
I was just actually trying to install other roms. I'm not sure what you mean by that 2.1 doesn't work with 3.0?
Thanks for the replies!
Are you rebooting after installing the rom?.....or are you installing rom, then Hboot, then Dalvik zip?
You need an ext partition on your SD card, do you not read the requirements before flashing?

I actually just install the rom, then install the hboot converter.zip and the dalvik zip. Am I supposed to reboot then install the zip files?

Maybe add one more step before (3)
2.5. Install Hboot CM7/r2
Then replace step 4 with a reboot, making sure the rom works first, then following by installing any mod. When installing mod, also clear dalvik cache before and after

Sad to hear that.
Maybe check following things :
1) On Hboot screen, does it show CM7 r2 - S-OFF, once you sure about that, can ignore any hboot installation later, it is because of other problem
2) Does it get to the 2nd stage of the boot i.e. showing "quite brilliant" ? if yes... should be booting to your rom soon, so wait !
3) Boot to recovery, mount sd-card to usb, and use gparted to check if you ext is there, 1GB and it's ext4, the other should be FAT32
- or you can remake it by using the partition sdcard on the recovery, and use gparted to convert it to ext4
This is really strange, you must be doing something wrong but I just can't work out what haha

1) Should I check the CM7/r2 screen on the Bootloader after installing the cm7/r2 to HBoot converter.zip file? I just did that and my boot loader still shows HBoot. And Yes it says S-OFF.
2) When I first boot up after installing the rom, the "quietly brilliant" screen reboots, so it would load HTC quietly brilliant, then do that over and over again. Am I supposed to wait there?
3) I created the partition with a partition wizard, and I double checked that I have an ext 4 partition on my mac.
1) which ROM are you trying to install ? If it's cool3d or aurora, just install the CM7r2, don't install the converter whatsover, once you get it done you will see CM7r2 in pink at your hboot screen. if you don't know what you're having, just download the new one here http://alpharev.nl/
2) Something went wrong... probably hboot
3) OK

Attempt #94820
I just tried to install cool3D without flashing the converter, I went to my boot loader, it's showing AlphaRev in pink then:
Bravo PVT1 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
Did I do something wrong again?
Last attempt of mine...
Is it "Alpharev CM7 r2" ? If not, install it by downloading the flasher ultilities
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794638
Flash the hboot with the tool using the bravo CM7 r2 image from Alpharev website http://alpharev.nl/bravo_alphaspl-cm7r2.img
If you sure it's already CM7r2, then you can go on try AURORA or COOl3D ( dun install the D2EXT version , you will need another hBoot). If still cannot, I suggest you replace your SDCARD and try again.

Actually for cool's roms, you can remain on stock hboot. All you do is flash stock_users.zip after the Rom. Although it is better to be on CM7r2 as it gives more space for apps.

Did you make an extended partition ? Do you have custom hboot or stock ?
original HBOOT so I have downloaded A2SD+ version (not CM7) and I have not yet created and extended partition, going to do it now in Oxygen, hope that helps

You have to have and ext partition.
yep at least 1gb ext3/4
AND - AS USUAL - IT IS ALL IN THE FIRST POST OF INSERTCOIN THREAD
...
It's now working like a charm thanks a lot!
and may I also ask, what what software would you recommend me to flash CM7 HBOOT? Somewhere I read Android flasher but it could also be managed through recovery. Also, is it really worth flashing?
Thanks
1) you must be S-OFF to change your hboot (go to alpharev.nl)
2) you dont flash .img files through recovery, it is done through fastboot mode, and you must have ANDROID SDK set up on your pc to use adb/fastboot commands with windows cmd prompt (or try android flasher, but i strongly recommend you do it yourself, less software means less probability something will go wrong)
3) CM7 version will be faster (apps will run from NAND) and also you will get lots of space for them so this is recommended, yes (note that you cant restore a nandroid of stock hboot rom etc, after changing hboot you must flash a CM7 rom

I did it manually. http://alpharev.nl/ Android flasher works as well but by the time I would've had finished downloading the operation was done.
Yes, it is worth flashing.
S-OFF and then:
1) Nandroid backup in recovery.
2) Verify the MD5SUM of the file you downloaded against the one in the table.
3) Flash HBOOT with your phone in fastboot mode (Back+POWER) -> 'fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl.img' (change into the correct filename for the HBOOT you downloaded)
4) 'fastboot reboot-bootloader'
5) 'fastboot erase cache'
6) Boot recovery, wipe everything and restore.
and one last question:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016940
here they require 130mB for /system but
http://alpharev.nl/ offers only 145mB version for system...
could that make any trouble?
....
145 is MORE than 130 right ?
seriously

Swyped from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Hi guys, I had this problem as well.
I've done the partition okay, my problem is this:
Clean install (after wiping dalvik, cache etc) stuck on wall paper.
however when i revert to my stock nand backup and don't wipe any data and try to install, it works fine (except it messes up the people app so I can't add anymore friends).
Some knowledgable insight would be appeciated as I am loosing some good friends.
Desire AMOLED
insertcoin 1.0.8
stock hboot
S-ON
ext3 - 1gb (made with Gparted)
I have an unbranded HTC Desire, previously it had Hboot 0.93, S_ON.
I tried to use Alpharev and not when i boot i have:
Bravo PVT3 s-off
hboot 6.93.1002
radio 4.06.00.02_2
I tried to run RUU.exe but I get error 170!
i have an HTC logo bootloop and I can't get it to start normally, not even to recovery
what can I do to rollback to the previous state??
Thank you in advance, please help!!!!
You running one of the r2 hboots of alpharev. These hboots are protected, so they cannot be overwritten by ruu. You have to flash bravo downgrader first and then stock hboot:
http://alpharev.nl
Now you can run the ruu again.

I was just trying to get my Desire working again.
I flashed recovery again and I can go to recovery.
I had a nandroid backup of my 2.5 Leedroid and made it work again.
Unfortunately some system apps do not work, (calendar, market, etc) and cannot install them again
Flashed Bravo CM7 r2 and I am trying to flash a new ROM (LeeDroid V3.0.8.2) but I get stuck in HTC boot screen...
Did you do full wipe/factory reset + dalvik cache wipe prior to flashing new ROM?
Did you partitioned SD card correctly, also EXT 3 alignment patch? Are you sure you flashed Data++ version not the A2SD?

the problem is:

AFAIK LeeDroid V3.0.8.2 A2SD version is made for stock hboot, maybe thats why you had bootloop?

Nice i used it too and was well satisfied.
I made a stupid mistake my phone was working great, but i decide to flash A HBOOT cm7/r2 via recovery which ended with brick. That thread.

Now fastboot and recovery are available what can i do?
Ty
Cm7 hboot won't work with stock Rom.
If you have flashed the hboot correctly, just enter recovery and flash a Rom that supports cm7r2 hboot such as cool3d roms
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I had installed aurora v3 rom which support cm7/r2 hboot. Can I just install another hboot in these case bravostockhboot from thread I mentioned?
My hboot however says im on CM7/r2 hboot...
So you were using Aurora with stock hboot, then flashed cm7r2 hboot, now your phone stays at the splash screen?
If Aurora was working fine with stock hboot that means you had flashed "ROM converter" from the thread. Now that you've flashed a different hboot you'll have to reflash the rom because by flashing the "ROM converter" it is set up for stock hboot only.
Flash Aurora again but don't flash the "ROM converter" this time.
Correct. I flash aurora rom again but it the same. What should i do now?
How long are you giving it to boot? I've not tried Aurora myself but seen some people saying it can take up to 15/20 minutes for it to boot.
About 10 minutes... i will try to give it more.
My hboot version is 6.93.1002 is this correct one for cm7/r2?
Nope no changes still stays at why so serious screen. I will try aces rom and see if it works...
It works now! Thank god, thank you are for the help
Coolexe's ROM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1040121
Suggestions...
1) Make sure you have all of the zips you want on your sd card before you begin. You'll need the ROM zip (obviously) also the weather pack zip.
You might also want any of the extra's available (second post on the thread)...Personally use "Dalvik.cache to SD EXT", "Usual UOT Jazzk% battery + flying windows animation & TP2W + TP2U" and "RC Team tweaks".
I would also flash a new kernel at this point but it's not essential (can be done later).
2) Reboot into recovery and full wipe. "wipe data/factory reset", "wipe cache partition" and then "advanced/wipe dalvik cache".
3) Install zip from sd card...
Flash ROM zip
Flash weather pack zip
Flash Dalvik.cache to SD EXT zip
Flash any extra's
(Flash kernel if you have a new one).
4) Reboot system now.
5) Go have a coffee, watch some tv etc... Give it time to do it's thing.
6) Enjoy
Let me know how it goes.
EDIT: Just saw you got it working. Enjoy.

Hello guys, I have a problem this is why I have turned to you. I wanted to upgrade my HTC desire ROM and I have tried a lot of version from this page...also stable and beta version and neither one of them works. I install them i get the succesfull install message but when I restart my phone it either stays with the HTC screen or it restarts once or twice and goes directly to Revolutionary Recovery.
I even tried versions that have specified on them [ALL_HBOOTS] and still no efect. I have only two versions that work on him, the current one 2.3.3 with Sense 2.1 and another older one. I want to install another version with a more recent Sense or even Android 4.
Do I have to change my Hboot? if so can somebody give me a tutorial or something explicit on how to do this?
I want to mention that I am .NET developer so I will understand anything you throw at me , just that I don't want to mess up my phone with all the different opinions I read online.
I also cleared the /cache, /data, /sd-ext, /sdcard/.android_secure and dalvik cache.

So you have oxygen hboot? Try flashing the stock one from the alpharev site. First download the hboot downgrader, rename it PB99IMG.zip, put it on the root of your sd-card, enter hboot, select yes. Then download the desired hboot, do the same.
Oh...some roms require an ext partition. Did you make one?
For better features, easy partitioning, touch and easy management, try 4ext recovery. Check my sig. Flash it like i wrote above.
