hello guys, i have installed the 4.5.3-109 ROM with SBF and cant downgrade. how to downgrade this ROM?
sorry, this sbf can not downgrade now.
the version of CG31 has been updated.
if you want use other rom,you can flash roms which are zip or img format with custom recovery.
You could flash the China Eclair:

Not the full ones with lower CG31 versions.
What are you trying to achieve? Custom firmware should work with 2.3.x too. Stock 2.3.X has everything that stock 2.2 has. So why do you want to downgrade?
If you only want to use your warranty just flash the china sbf and don't use the camera LED!
I can flash other China SBF and install the CyanogenMod?

Like shensuiren said, you can do this anyway.
Alternatively, try following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15341774&postcount=8
Later in that thread someone explains how to go to cm7 from there. But now that cm7 is based on 2.3.4 that's not necessary anymore.

CM7 is based on AOSP 2.3.X not 2.3.4 for the Defy+ there is a difference.

I've just installed 2.3.3 which i really like the look of but i didnt know anything about red and green lenses as the camera doesnt work at all.
Am i right in thinking that i'm now stuck with 2.3.3 ?
I cant seem to root it which as far as i know means i cant install any other roms
Is this right ??
Come on people, tell me if you can root this rom please...or at least if i can roll back to another rom where my camera works.
Some posts exist to root any rom, and every rom in http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=855 are rooted ...
Only 4.5.1-85 can root direct. (Gingerbreak.apk)

How did you end up flashing this stock 2.3.3? There's already available rooted 2.3.3 rom with fixed sbf. Just curious here...

Thanks for the replies, farsight73 I dont really know what i'm doing i suppose is the answer ! Most of the jargon I dont understand....tell me, can i flash a new sbf (rom?) without the handset being rooted ?
Yes I supposed... But only higher sbf since you won't be able to downgrade. So practically from 2.3.3 to higher like 2.3.4.. But I did read somewhere that someone like your case was able to flash back to 2.2.2.. may be walter could help you. Please pm him..

Just flash the latest ftf file with flashtool. Check the Dev forum for latest stock ROMs. If it's a R800i, the ROMs you want are probably Hong Kong Generic 4.0.2.A.0.58 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1375678 or North America Generic 2.3.4 4.0.2.A.0.42 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1326459
do i need an image file to flash

Yes, that's the downloads in those threads linked. Bare in mind this will wipe your device, so you'll want to do a backup first if you want to save anything
Hey just to let everyone know this method works perfect although lost root ?
Can someone answer me if this rom has downgraded?

If you have not already flashed a full gingerbread sbf, you will be able to downgrade after using this rom but you must use a fixed sbf NOT a full one.
And on a side note please be more specific with the thread title's
Sorry

Hey friends...
My friend has recently bought a defy in India... It came with eclair...
Now he wants to upgrade to gingerbread... But he doesn't want to root... So can anyone please help me? As I'm a Samsung user, I don't know anything about Motorola devices or how to upgrade them... So I would appreciate a noob friendly guide...
Thanks...
u cannot upgrade to gingerbread w/o rooting...defy has got the official froyo, not gingerbread..
please read the pinned posts if u wish to know how to flash a custom gingerbread rom..

He can update to Froyo, but there is no official Gingerbread update from Motorola for the Defy (and there will never be one).
If he doesn't want to tinker a bit he won't get Gingerbread (there are also 2.3 ports of the Defy Plus that work quite well, but rooting is necessary to install anything like that).

You can mess around with your Defy s much as you want, root, install ROMs, flash sbfs... And you can ALWAYS go back to the stock Foyo/ Eclair firmware your Defy came with. Even if something went wrong and the phone doesn't boot anymore, just flash a stock clean Motorola firmware and everything's gone (the ROM you had before, also the root). So also if your Defy has a hardware problem and you want to send it back, just go back to stock before and you don't have to worry about the warranty.

I don't think so. if you changed the bootloader version you will be stuck on some higher kernel and can not easily go back.. (that was what happend to epsylon3 - one of the main devs of CM9 for defy) - so if you flashed official froyo - you will not be able to go back to eclair for example. (as is also pointed out here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537)
A piece of advice: read a lot (here in this forums) before you flash something. It help you not getting in trouble with your phone.

There is no point in using defy with the buggy stock Eclair/Froyo ..
If u want to see the complete potential of defy Root it and Install CM7..
and yes you can go back when ever you want but make sure u take the Nandroid backup of the stock ROM that u r using and check whether the official sbf of ur region is available to download.so that u can flash it and restore the nandroid backup .. !!

Right, that was the only thing I wasn't thinking about. That is what is usually written in big red letters when there's something about these sbfs. But normally there is no need to change the bootloader version by installing the (not fixed) 2.3.4 sbf.
The only really current reliable options for the Defy imho are CM7.1, MIUI (and some versions based on it) and the Defy+ based ROMs (like MS2Ginger). With none of them you risk to be stuck somewhere - I flashed stock Froyo a dozen times without problems.
Thanks all for your replies....
I'll root and flash cm today....

Ok, i understand that ICS is just not good for gaming. I have a R800ì root LOCKED BOOTLOADER. Can i still do some flashinf roms, etc etc? I'm new in these things, but i think it's time for me to begin. If i want to keep my bootloader blocked, what can i flash? Is it possible to flash Xperia NXT 1.2 rom, DIxperia 2 rom, TrueAncestor rom, etc etc?
And most important. BEFORE i do anything, is there a way to back up everything EXACTLY as it was, so i can go back to my stock 2.3.4? Thank u for your time guys:good:
Hi, assuming you are rooted, yes you can install some rom that are compatible with locked loaders. The ones you mentioned are all compatible, provided you flash the specific fw that's indicated in each of those rom
You can do a nandroid backup to backup your current rom exactly like it is right now, with cwm. Just download x parts from the market

Thank you, exactly what i needed to hear. Another queations though. Since it 's my understanding that for those roms i also need to change differents firmware (i have stock. 42 now), i would like to know if a nandroid backup include my original firmware (.42).
Ansother thing: with a locked bootloader what i cannot do? Change kernels?
My favorite so far is Gin2JellyBean 1.8.1, i still have my bootloader locked, it has some bugs like weird looking home screen when it's in landscape mode but still very smooth and great looking :silly:

With a LB hoy cannot install custom kernels, only flash official released ones. Some roms are also compatible With LB

Sorry for my bad English. It's not my native language.
Wait, sometimes i read a rom is "based on .64" or "u have to put baseband .42"....what does that mean?
