Locked Bootlader: What rom available? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, i understand that ICS is just not good for gaming. I have a R800ì root LOCKED BOOTLOADER. Can i still do some flashinf roms, etc etc? I'm new in these things, but i think it's time for me to begin. If i want to keep my bootloader blocked, what can i flash? Is it possible to flash Xperia NXT 1.2 rom, DIxperia 2 rom, TrueAncestor rom, etc etc?
And most important. BEFORE i do anything, is there a way to back up everything EXACTLY as it was, so i can go back to my stock 2.3.4? Thank u for your time guys:good:

Hi, assuming you are rooted, yes you can install some rom that are compatible with locked loaders. The ones you mentioned are all compatible, provided you flash the specific fw that's indicated in each of those rom
You can do a nandroid backup to backup your current rom exactly like it is right now, with cwm. Just download x parts from the market

Thank you, exactly what i needed to hear. Another queations though. Since it 's my understanding that for those roms i also need to change differents firmware (i have stock. 42 now), i would like to know if a nandroid backup include my original firmware (.42).
Ansother thing: with a locked bootloader what i cannot do? Change kernels?

My favorite so far is Gin2JellyBean 1.8.1, i still have my bootloader locked, it has some bugs like weird looking home screen when it's in landscape mode but still very smooth and great looking :silly:

Also, i see that sometimes for installaing a rom, changing kernerl is required. But can i change kernel with locked bootloaader?

With a LB hoy cannot install custom kernels, only flash official released ones. Some roms are also compatible With LB

If a do a nandroid backup of a stock 2.3.4 Sony rom, will be inclueded the firmware too?

You cab try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1790615
Sorry for my bad English. It's not my native language.

Wait, sometimes i read a rom is "based on .64" or "u have to put baseband .42"....what does that mean?

procedures to root and flash LT18a

Hi guys, i have some questions about this procedure because all the procedures are made for LT18i version and my celphone is LT18a version (american).
I would like to know if there is any diferences about the procedure to install the CM10 on my cellphone, because of the diference about frequency from this two models.
I'm afraid realyse the procedures and my phone stop working.
I read on the forum that the main difference between the models is the frequency, and i woud like to know if there are any other differences, my cellphone operator works at 850Mhz / 2100Mhz - and the LT18i don't work at 850Mhz it works at 900Mhz / 2100Mhz.
Thx for help!

I also have the LT18a and I'm running CM9 and I've tried CM10 without any issues, I just reverted back to CM9 since CM10 had some stability issues.
Flashing a different kernel or ROM has not had any effect on my radio.
'i' or 'a' the procedure is the same. I=international,a=america, they both work irrespective of where you are in the world.

So, how people sad this is irrelevant, but i have some questions, what might I do first? My device is just like the way it came to me, with the original configurations. I know that i need to root it, but what is the procedure, i might backup all i want and them root it right? but do i need to do any other thing before rooting?
Thx!
Backup what you can before rooting like sms, contacts, calendar, emails etc.
Unless you are rooted you can't backup apps, data.
What it's you system details. Read the stickies in the general section all details are there

Fast Xperia Arc Kernel

Hi All,
I have a rooted ICS Arc (4.1.B.0.431) with a locked bootloader. What is a good, fast kernel for it ? Thanks in advance.
Call me silly, but you the entire benefit of unlocking your bootloader is the ability to flash custom kernels. Therefore...locked bootloader means no custom kernel.
I'm no guru....so please, anyone, correct me if I'm wrong here...

first U Update your Phone to Fw.587 ,
then talk about Kernels

I downgraded and upgraded kernel alone to achieve root for ICS...

I am unable to update to FW.587 OTA. The update center downloads the update and fails to update upon reboot (get an error here). I suppose my only option due to this is to flash the official .587 kernel. If I need to flash a kernel, why not a 'better' kernel ?
Then U Flash A FTF ,
Because For ME OTA Sucks !
Don't upgrade to .587. Lags too much, I went back to .431.
Kernel-wise, unlock your bootloader then try ArcKnight 3.5.1 or SEGA Kernel V3 Army edition.

[Q] Unlocked Bootloader and Rooting

Hi, I am new to Android and rooting and had a couple questions. I will be getting the Xperia Play R800x soon. If you get the bootloader unlocked from SE, do you still need to root the device? I have been trying to get everything ready for when I get the phone. I have Android SDK and Flashtool installed. If I want to get the NXT Light Edition Rom, do I need a custom kernel as well? Thanks.

If you get your bootloader unlocked and flash a custom kernel/ROM no you dont need to root as nearly all, if not all come with root. Seen as you have flashtool and everything else use a custom kernel. If you want to return to stock then just reflash a ftf file for r800x , make sure you dont flash a ftf for r800i though. I dont have the link handy but there is a thread here with all ftf files. Just search in XdA

Just a heads up.... The NXT light rom is gsm... It won't work on the r800x

Thank you Wedgess and Lordomn. Since the NXT light is for the GSM version, would you recommend the COLA rom, or maybe SlimBean or CM9?

Think CosmicDans MIUI for ICS is for cdma. Id say its probably one of the best performance wise for ICS. You could also check out my PACMan ROM gor JB i uploaded a cdma version which works fine touchpads are also supported, camera/video ect works. Also instead of saying thanks click the thanks button instead

slim bean performs very well also.

Came back to GB 2.3.7

Yesterday I flashed on my Xperia S GB 6.0.A.3.76 FW. after testing a lot of roms like CM9.1/CM10/KA Xperia/Stock ICS and much more ,I understood that the perfomance with GB FW is the best ever... Everything works like charm ,camera is really great ,especially with "[MOD][CAM]GBXperia S|Video 1080p >20mb Bitrate|720p >15mb Bitrate|>100% Image quality".
Gaming perfomance is so smooth... no lags at all ,GTA VC works and it really great. Also Mobile Bravia Engine is a very huge advantage to me!
Waiting now for the official JB release from Sony ,till then I'm staying with GingerBread FW.
:good:
I thought bravia engine is not working to those who already unlocked bootloader even if you relocked it..yup I agree very smooth when you in gb because I try to reflashed it to recover the drm keys but im failed..music download info is not working also bravia engine..try stock based rom, try xtx7 so smooth also for me it is the best stock based rom and I modify it gx home preferences and tab&grid, all this mod and rom was created by niaboc..see attached

My BL is unlocked and I didn't relocked it. BE works well on GB FW ,but not on ICS. Also tried XTX7 ,but the perfomance was to much sluggish ,games worked on a very low FPS.
One question: If I relock bootloader I can use PCC to update my phone without bricking it right?

I have unlocked bootloader on custom ics rom and my MBE is not working, does relocking bootloader and switching back to gingerbread will make MBE to work again ?
My MBE was working perfectly on ICS before unlocking my phone's bootloader.

It should work. I also had Locked BL with ICS .452 FW and MBE worked great... After unlocking BL ,MBE never worked for me on ICS ,even on .452 FW. Now I'm on GB and unlocked BL.
Never actually tried GB on my S, as soon as I bought it I updated to ICS. I'll give GB a shot and see how it is

is there root for 2.3.7? I was thinking of switching back to Gb too before but not sure if it can be rooted thats why im with ICS for now.
tried rooting gingerbread but kept bootlooping, one more try and it looks like it might have to be going back to ICS.

[Q] What is stock?

Ok, this is a really stupid question, and I think my IQ has lowered 5 points just from asking it, but what is the stock for R800i? I installed ICS the day I got mine, and now I'd like to return it to stock and I don't know what stock is for this device.

U can find the stock roms in smokerman's thread named -Index of all Xperia play roms, kernels etc...they will be in .ftf format...to flash the stock rom ull need flashtool..so download it from its respective thread..the instructions should be in the same thread as well..

Thank you for that, but I'm still confused. I see 9 ftf files in that post, in the section marked R800i (plus several that are obviously not for me, such as Hong Kong and UK...my Play is the global unlocked model). Which one do I want? Or are they all the same?

I think they're pretty much the same thing...u can use .62 phoenix or .79(with these two ull get unlocked partition so that u can also use custom kernels with custom partition layout (600/700mb data partition).. btw gotta hav unlocked boot loader for that:good:
also stock means mostly built by sony code so everything should work
touchpads, Xloud etc..
