Its honestly a step down. I bought my dinc for the screen size. I don't want a bigger one!

the INC2 looks like a nice device, but it doesn't offer much over the original DINC. 4" screen and a FF camera are not $200 worth of changes for me to switch.

yeah. it has +256mb of ram .3" bigger screen and a FF camera... not worth another 2 year contract. maybe if it was 4g then i would get it but it doesn't even have that.

Of course, you're also leaving out the faster gpu, 8th gen gps engine, newer SoC with higher OC ceiling, cdma/gsm radio, and apparent capability for SVDO,

Not to mention the next gen processor... It's worth it for me 3.7 is too small. plus all the other additions.

I do understand that device is newer and updated beyond the screen and camera, but dual core processors and LTE are going to make the lifespan of devices like this relatively short (IMO). I have no doubt that there are many improvements but I just don't see locking myself into a 2 year contract with this.
When Verizon got rid of the one year contract it made me rethink even being on Verizon. I might switch to Sprint for my next phone. I also consider a 4.3" screen to be a requirement for my next phone as well as 1gb ram and a dual core cpu.
oh, I'm getting this!
luckily for me im using my bros upgrade, and then mine runs out april 2012, so i can upgrade as well in april
Seems like the screen is a step down from the original, at least quality wise..

I thought the same
throttling of the top 5%
14day return
removal of 1 year contract
Soon to have tiered data
with Sprint you need to be with them for 10 years (their premier program) to receive the 1 year upgrade
I'll wait for the next Inc next year if they have one. The Inc 2 is already dated with a dumbed down version of Sense 2.0, why can't the TB and Inc 2 access HTCSense.com VZW? Very disappointed.

As I was reading that my friend bumped into me knocking my phone out of my hand, top right corner has a chip in the edge....
Can't really make up my mind on this phone. I am at the same time disappointed and oddly interested. I was really looking forward to a dual core 3.7" Incredible. Though this still does look like very nice device. Certainly not a good buy IMO however, with the advent of 4g and all the dual core chips coming out, there is no reason to trade my still excellent incredible at this time for an upgraded but still current-generation phone.

IMO, if you have an incredible then this isn't a good enough upgrade. Of course if you have lots of cash and you want the shiny new toy, I wouldn't blame ya- but I'm sure there's going to be some dual core phones coming out pretty soon. That's what I'm waiting for. That and they'd have to be 4G capable.
The incredible is still snappy and fast, my 3G speeds even average around 250kb/s and top out around 325kb/s so really no need for 4G because I can stream movies to my phone without buffer stops- and there's nothing else practical I can think of that would need any more speed than that.
In the Incredible 2 does anyone know if the internal storage on the phone will be any larger then the original, specifically the part that holds the ROM?
Looking at the leaks BGR posted today Im happy to say Im glad I didnt wait. If the specs leaked are true that is because BGR is not known to do anything not Apple any favors.
Same cpu as ours I'm guessing only difference is the screen but I am disappointed if the camera is only 5 megapixels

Not quite. The Prime is due to have a 1.2ghz dual-core TI OMAP - that may perform better or worse than a similarly-clocked Exynos. We'll know soon enough. GPU is a wildcard.
I heard it was 1.5ghz dual core

1.2, 1.5, reports vary. It's pretty settled on being an OMAP.

Im hoping that the specs are for the Verizon model and the rest of the carriers get something more in the perfomance department and a better camera.
In other words I would like to see a big jump before I ditch theE4GT
The important info from the leaked specs is LTE/HSPA. In other words, not coming to Sprint. My guess is Sprint made its deal with the devil on the Iphone and has to sell the crap out of it to make it work. Can't imagine they're going to bring more "flagship" type phones that could poach iphone sales.
Sprint can safely say they offer two flagship phones, one with Android (Epic 4G Touch) and the other with iOS. Customer can choose between the two.
Not much of an upgrade over the ET4g. Another Nexus that dosent hold my interest.

Keep in mind the original source is BGR, who put out the bogus rumor that Sprint would get an exclusive iPhone5 with WiMAX. It wouldn't surprise me if Prime is a VZW exclusive, but consider the source.

Sprints gonna sell phones anyway they can. I highly doubt they would diss Samsung,HTC or Moto just because they have iphone. If iphone gets asses in the door theres no telling what devise they leave with.
I was interested in the phone till I saw the curved shape - not exactly pocket friendly (probably not holster friendly either).
I like my ET4G but there is always room for improvement.
I'd like my next phone to:
1. support LTE and Wimax and EVDO rev b
2. have a 4.65" screen
3. to have a higher resolution
4. to have longer battery life
Other than that, I don't care about a faster processor too much or much else. I'd also prefer the industry standard 2.5mm headset jack instead of the 3.5mm

Normally I'd agree. The difference is that (according to the WSJ) Sprint is on the hook no matter what for 20bil over 4 years. They have to buy that amount off Apple whether they can sell the phones or not. This is a "bet the company" move on Sprint's part.
I have to agree with OP. I was hesitant to purchase the Epic Touch primarily because of the upcoming Nexus release and iPhone announcement.
iPhone 4S turned out to be unimpressive imo.. Nexus Prime will be an awesome device but limited to Verizon initially and I wasn't willing to switch carriers. Now it looks like the cameras may not be up to par with our Galaxy S2, it may have better optics but I remember how the Nexus S didn't support 720p video capture while the Galaxy S did and it omitted a microsd slot.. The Nexus Prime might not best the Galaxy S2 in every category if the pattern repeats.
It seems that the BGR post this morning might be wrong.
THere is a debate on the other forums saying the BGR is bogus and the real specs are:
Display: 4.65-inch HD(1280x720) Super AMOLED
Camera: 8 megapixel (flash)/2 megapixel on the front
Battery: 1850 mAh
Value added features: 1.5GHz dual core AP, embedded 16GB memory,
Bluetooth 3.0 HS, WiFi a/b/g/n

Sorry, tangent, but the audio engineer side of my couldn't be quiet. I think you're confused here, 3.5 mm has been the standard the standard for everything consumer grade for a long time. 2.5 mm has been basically gone and dead for years, look at any phone coming out now: 3.5 mm for both audio and headset.
Consumer audio: 3.5 mm.
Pro audio: 1/4" (twice as big).
The dead past: 2.5 mm.
Sorry, I couldn't resist, but don't read that as condescension, because I in no way mean it as such.
Anyways, rabbit trail aside, I'll be glad if my shiny new Epic Touch doesn't become outdated this quickly.

It is the best upgrade I've ever done. You will notice a difference.

I don't understand why you even did any of that....The Snapdragon S3 is in the Sensation/EVO3D, but is now in the TMO SGSII, you basically got the same phone again but was ripped off...The S3 in the SGSII+maze4G are OC'd to 1.5GHz, this can be done on Sensation, making the SGSII the same as AMAZE, excluding the AMOLED and WVGA....The Sensation has qHD+SLCD which are inferior, but not worth the selling of the G2X+Sensation for a SGSII. The Normal SGSII's Exynos is @1.2GHz and reaches the S3 @1.5GHz....IF you OC the Exynos it will exceed the S3 overall....Now the Exynos's GPU is more advanced than the Adreno 220, Samsung produces better GPUs, while Qualcomm makes better CPUs on their SoCs. And Qualcomm specializes in better floating point scores, just try Linpack, calculations are faster with Qual. Sorry about this messy post, was rushing.

i got the G2x for free. then sold it for 150. i got the sensation for free. then sold it for 350. prior to both of these phones i had the Vibrant and Galaxy S 4G. i miss the lightweight and slender feel that the sensation could not give me. the g2x is an nvidia chipset. nvidia desktop video cards have been running hot in the recent past and the G2x was plagued by the same issue. that sucker could fry some eggs when i pushed it. so basically i'm gaining the feel and bright screen that i've missed and making 500 bucks on two items i paid nothing for. make sense?
The T-Mobile version doesn' suck.
Personally, I'm excited to upgrade my SGS4g to the SGSII
And OP, if you need to ask... lol Jk, but honestly you should slap yourself for even needing to ask...
1Ghz Single Core vs 1.5GHz Dual Core
3g Vs 4g (With T-mo's most powerful radio yet rated 42mbps - actual PEAK speeds are touted as 22mbps with averages from 8-12)

This phone is definitively a beat, but $350 is a little bit pricey for me. I don't know what you think, but if i was you (early update), i will buy this phone from craigslist/ebay rather than from tmobile. You probably pay around $400-$450, or might get it under $400 if you are lucky. Of course, you pay a little bit more , but you dont have to stick with tmobile for another 2 years. I'll only buy phones from tmobile + 2 year contract if i get fully discount price.
I'll be getting this Wednesday if everything works out right and I can buy it in the store. Finally free of this Nexus S!!
retailers have it already??

Read all the reviews online. One of the best phones out there IMHO.
Thanks for the reply and I've read alot of reviews would just like a little more info I talked to people at Verizon when my mom got her Samsung charge and they tried telling me the epic was junk that it was laggy and bad screen quality. Might have just been them trying to get me to leave sprint though
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
They may have said that because the Epic Touch is on Sprint & wanted you to go with them (Verizon). Oops I see you said that.
Yeah I had Verizon can't go back there money hungry just hoping if I get this phone it wont have the grainy look of my mothers Samsung device can't stand it lol
Well based on resolution specs the Charge & Epic Touch both have Super AMOLED+, 480 x 800 pixels
However the Charge is slightly smaller at 4.3" vs Epics 4.52" & the ppi for the Charge is 217 vs Epics 206 ppi.
One would think that they aren't too far off & should give similar to identical views.
The Epic touch does have a dual core chip so I can't say if that alone gives the screen a better appearance?
I would go on a limb and say the Epic 4G Touch is the best phone Sprint currently has (Dual core does make a huge difference). Even stock it is smooth. With MODs it is even better (especially the battery and tethering capabilities).
The devs are awesome and the future looks nice so far (ICS is suppose to be out soon). My only wish is that the lock/unlock button wasn't on the side, as I loved where the EVO 4G's button was on top. But that is nit-picking and what ever, I adapted (sort of).
The Galaxy Nexus LTE will be in soon BTW, but after that a quad-core phone may soon be on the horizon. I would say make a pro's and con's list of what you want/need and go from there. I upgraded because my screen shattered and if I am paying a small amount to repair it when I had a upgrade... why not.

as the title says, i currently use a Droid RAZR which has awesome built quality, good display, very good audio quality. its just like i everything wanted but somehow i still have the urge to desire for something better
the things s i am looking at is
bigger and sharper display 4.5" super amoled
good audio quality
better camera
good audio quality
good build quality and doesn't feel cheap
good battery life
better performance
so far the epic 4g touch have the advantage of display, speed and camera
with the recent update to droid razr that is supposed to make image quality better, i am now unsure how it stacks up
the audio quality, build quality, battery life seems to be worse than razr
so is it worth upgrading? if so, why do you think so?
I don't know if I would consider it an upgrade. Although both are terrific phones. I think the biggest difference between the two would be the service provider. You just can't compare Sprint 2 Verizon. Verizon dominates in all playing fields, accept for price. Although I am partial to the Epic, because that is the phone I have, you still have an excellent device. If anything I would wait for the Galaxy S3. It is rumored to come out some time within the first half of 2012.

I'll be honest, I wouldn't do it. This is a great phone, but with so many things on the way, I think you should hold off and wait for sprint's LTE network. Also, quad core phones are probably on the horizon. I mean, this phone is fast and at the moment, could do just about anything you ask it to do, but that may not be the case in 6 months to a year.

I think that's for you to decide ultimately. I can tell you this though, I love this phone. It has its downfalls, it has a horrible gps signal at essentially all times and seems to occasionally freeze. However, the thing is so powerful and fast that I really could care less about that stuff. The razr, as far as materials, is built much better and is more solid structurally. But I love this thing and if you really don't wanna wait for the LTE network, then maybe you should dive in. I doubt you'll be disappointed with it.

However, the thing is so powerful and fast that I really could care less about that stuff. The razr, as far as materials, is built much better and is more solid structurally. But I love this thing and if you really don't wanna wait for the LTE network, then maybe you should dive in. I doubt you'll be disappointed with it.

I do have GPS related issues, mostly just locking in on location. But nothing too hard-core.

I agree, I wouldn't upgrade to the epic from the razr either. you aren't gaining much. i suggest you look into the galaxy note if you want to use it just for browsing web & media consumption. as far as I know, you get the exynos processor with the 5.3" @ >720p display display. much better device in my opinion.

Coming from an htc phone, trust me, this thing has gps issues. It's a known issue and is relatively common with samsung devices. I had freezing issues on stock ek02 and that was one of the big determining factors for me rooting. I'm still having freezing issues and have heard of others having the same issue. It still may very well be an isolated issue and in the future I will treat it as such.

i would jump on that in a heartbeat if you could find me one for $210 no contract
thats the cost of epic 4g touch im eyeballing right now
Just for the pure fact your on Verizons network is enough...The Epic 4G Touch is the best phone ive owned...Spec and build quality is to notch. The 1080p video is imo better than the Iphone. Sprint is the way to go for data...and phone selection. Priceplan wise you dont have to worry about overages and data price plans...is all included.
