Refurbished - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok I recently replaced my Evo through Asurion and when I got my phone I noticed it wasn't new, it was refurbished. In order for me to root it using revolutionary, I need the S/N to generate a beta key. My phone doesn't have the S/N on the back like the first one did. But there is one on the battery with 14 digits alone with the P/N. I was wondering if that is the correct amount of digits and if that's what I should enter to generate the beta key
Please help because I really need some root/sense 3.0 love these days

If revolutionary reads your device it will tell you your S/N

Don't know what you did to downgrade/unroot nor do I know the error, so I can't really help you there. Maybe a little more info?
I used the DI_unroot.zip and it downgraded me to 2.1 and it also got rid of my super user and wifi tethering app. I waited for the ota but nothing so I went ahead and downloaded the official ota update file from Verizon to try to update manually but the installation aborted. I know how to update the incredible because I manually updated my girlfriend's incredible. Idk what could be the problem.

If you are sending it in for warranty why do you care if the OTA is applied or not?
Just send it in.
I figured that if I got the update that would mean that I got rid of the root completely i don't want there to be any traces of root.

I tried pushing the update.zip manually again but again it gives me this "there's a problem with SD card/update.zip (status7) installation aborted" Then I have to reboot my phone.

Not rooted. She wont let me root it haha. I just don't know how to update it without going into recovery. My phone is rooted so I know about all of that.

The format of the update will not allow you to update without htc sync on a pc. Sorry :/

To get the rom.zip (esprimg) run the ruu and open command prompt, click services, and right click on ARUWizard.exe and open file location, and move the file (rom.zip) to your desktop and rename it "esprimg.zip" and put it on the root of your sd, and flash in bootloader

Out of luck then. No computer. Ha. Oh well. Weird how I can root a phone and put so many completely different kinds of phones on it without a computer. But I can't do a little update for a phone without one.

private number?

i know this is prob a silly question but can anyone tell me how to make my number permanently restricted/private? don't know if it matters but i'm fully rooted and running deck's 1.1 (soon to be upgraded) with cm7 kernel

I think sprint can do that if you call customer sercice. Never checked if there is a setting in the os its self. Or you can just press *67 before dialing a number each time.

If you want it permanently blocked you can do it from your account on sprint.com. you just go to "changes to my services." Or something similar on the right side of the screen.

When you take out the battery, there's a WiMax code (along with the meid and others). What is it? And if you lost your WiMax keys, could this help you? (I didn't lose my key).

Transferring wife's # to my Evo

My Epic 4G Touch is coming tomorrow, my wife is gonna use my Evo 4G. Do I need to unroot or flash a sense rom or anything like that to get my wife's # transferred to the Evolution?

Sense ROM (use stock) is needed for that kind of stuff. I believe there is an option in Accounts on sprint.com to switch numbers online. Or, you can always go to the store
